I ordered a tasty cauliflower dish ... 2 thumbs up ! they said their dishes were tasty, the noodles were mild but the biryani had a little heat, but not bad, very tasty & lots of chicken !! Pretty much selfserve, you order & pay @ the front counter, then pick up your food when it's ready - not the best set-up if you are not ambulatory, but I was there to assist ! Living in Los Angeles for 15 years, I was close to Artesia, (Little India) so various Indian food options was available in 20 mins or so. I was craving Indian food, but not a heavy meal before work. I love Indian street food and found this via yelp. It's a small little place with like 4 table and two Aunties running the place. I ordered idly vada platter and the mysore masala dosa. It came with sambar and coconut chutney. The vada was great, but the idly seemed like it was microwaved which causes it to become rubbery and hard. However the dosa was out of this world. I get it Indian spicy because if they perceived you as Gori they will make their spicy mild. It was enough food to fill me up and I had 1/2 the dosa to take with me. Had a massage next door during lunch hour, I was curious how this restaurant had to offer. The Jill of all trades was by herself, busy prepping whatever. I ordered the Goat Biryani to go. It's excellent and really love it. However, the service was very very poor. First, she greeted, after I said hello, with some annoyance in her tone and not THANKING after. The food is here not what I expected. I was really disappointed by the food here. We ordered gol gappa, pav bhaji, noodle burger, aloo tikki burger, gobi Manchurian, and momos. None of us finished the burgers, didn't take more than a bite, it tasted like old oil or something. The noodles were lukewarm at best. I got the vegan spicy Dosa and it was delicious, the daal that came with it tasted a little off to me (maybe some spice I don't like) but the coconut dip was a good balance. I ate the whole thing and was totally full, paying $7.50. What a deal. I wish I lived closer. The ladies were helpful too in guiding me towards the vegan and gluten free options. Also noteworthy, they have some less typical food options, things you might see eating Indian at a friend's house as opposed to an Americanized restaurant. We had Chicken Tikka Masala, rice, veggie pakoras, & mango Lassis. The Chicken Tikka was $9 and was absolutely delicious!! The rice was the best Basmati rice I have ever had. Glad they were open during COVID-19. This is my second visit here. The first time was by happenstance. I happen to be visiting the bakery next door. On my first visit, I ordered lamb curry, naan and gulab jamun. The dish was good, but there was a one note curry flavor instead of the depth of flavor I usually taste with Indian food. The galub jamun was delicious. On today's visit, I ordered vegetarian samosas. I'm not a huge fan of vegetarian samosas, but these were good. I ordered them for my son and loved them. San Pablo Dam Road is often, for me, a quick way to avoid traffic along 80 and 680. When I was cat sitting recently I noticed several small new ethic restaurants and decided to start giving them a try. I knew that Spicy Bites would mostly be takeout; the restaurant is too small for more than a table or two. I was thinking a couple of appetizers would be great addition to any dinner that might be waiting for me at home. I thought I better order two just in case I had to cook dinner. I definitely wanted an order of samosas and something to go with them. I asked and they suggested something I could not find on the menu when I got home. The dish was potato cakes surrounded by spicy chickpeas. The food was prepared while I waited and was hot when I got home. I really enjoy my samosa, the potato cake was okay. I was surprised that S did not eat share of the potato maybe he ate before I got home. It would be helpful if the menu had a description of the menu items. I don't eat Indian food as much as I did when I worked and need a reminder of what they are. I do enjoy Indian food and I will be back for more takeout treats. read more

We got papdi chat, pain puri, chole bhature, masala dosa and pav bhaji. My fav were the papdi chat and pav bhaji. Pani puri was also very good. I didn't even have time to take a pic of the pav bhaji before my bf devoured it. The papdi chat was perfect! Fresh creamy yogurt with the tang of tamarind sauce with the crunchiness of the papdi. Mmmmm.... I would say the masala dosa and the chole of the chole bhature were a bit mild, but it was perfect cause we ate it for brunch. The chat dishes were the star of the meal! Little place operated usually by two ladies, sometimes three. Couple tables inside for dine in. Couple tables outside as well. Food is great! Unfortunately is slow with orders during lunch or dinner time usually over 30 mins for orders. So plan accordingly. Price is very reasonable compared to bigger places within 10 mile radius. They have lunch special combo which includes rice and naan so worth a try. Would definitely recommend the food. Haven't ventures beyond usually meat curry dishes. We came here hoping for something like Hamro Aangan or Viks but a little bit closer to where we live. This place is ok, but we were really disappointed. In increasing order of tastiness: Dahi Vada - It didn't help that I had no idea what this was and was expecting something like Puri with yogurt sauce. There were some crunchy chips that were in the dish that tasted good, but the main part was two large bready, spongy rolls. Not a good combo and we couldn't finish this. Mysora Masala Dosa - This didn't look anything like the picture. The dosa was also different than we're used to - a little less fluffy and more crunchy. Kind of weird, but ok. Lahori Fish Fry - Fried, non-battered fish with a slight kick with a green dipping sauce (looks nothing like the sauces with on the menu). Tasty, but again, not what we expected. Mango Lassi - Tasty - hard to mess this one up. Goat Biryani - We were pretty happy with this dish in terms of flavor and quantity (it's a big portion). Goat is thoroughly cooked but not cooked tender, so you'll have to make sure you have some good chompers if you want to take this on. read more

If there's one thing that I absolutely cannot stand, it would have to be an argumentative, ignorant owner. Their menu is clearly Indo-American-Chinese cuisine. They have 2 different burgers on their menu. My kids typically eat an overall veggie based diet, but tonight I decided to get them a burger because the spices in potato cakes can be a little strong. The burger clearly says that it is made with AMERICAN BURGER with is typically BEEF BURGER.. when I questioned this with the front end staff they said No, It meant Potato Patty? Well, the burger above it clearly stated "Potato Patty" so I was confused. Initially I just wanted a remake, but after they couldn't accommodate that I obviously wanted something different or a refund. I definitely made my point to the waitress, but her husband (the owner) wasn't having it. He claims that their description is perfect and I need to understand indo-American cuisine better... although, having two separate burgers to accommodate BOTH the American community AND the Indian community makes perfect sense, right? Lives up to the name! Spicy bite has a variety of flavorful snack options. The prices are affordable and because of this I've been able to try some new things I might have been afraid to commit to at say, Viks. The ladies that run this place are friendly, and although the inside is a little sparse they have takeout and tables outside. They lean towards the South Indian, so they have plenty of smaller items (chaat) as well as curries, rolls, and even grilled cheese. My favorite thing here is the samosa cholle. I always get this. I've also enjoyed the dosas, pav bhaji (buns with cholle, I love those chickpeas) kathi rolls, fried fish, really the list goes on. It's all good, and even if something is not amazing, I don't miss the $5-7 and I tried something new :) read more

Vada pav was okay but still you will get besan test like you feel you are eating besan only.
