Menu Dec 2022

True and authentic Punjabi food is on the menu here. I loved their palak paneer and chai. But the dish that steals the spotlight is the aloo paratha. Gigantic, hearty, and topped with melted butter. Note they do love their chilis here so if they ask you how spicy you want it, round it down a bit! Trust me!

We were very hungry! Food was OK. Samosa Chhole were good! veggie briyani was delish! Goat curry wasn't that good. No flavor very greasy Masala fried chicken was ok Naan bread was good Sauces were ok Staff was very friendly! Fast service. Clean

The food is here not what I expected. I was really disappointed by the food here. We ordered gol gappa, pav bhaji, noodle burger, aloo tikki burger, gobi Manchurian, and momos. Instead of giving us our momos, she decided on her own without asking us and gave us noodles instead. All the food tasted genuinely old. It was quite upsetting. None of us finished the burgers, didn't take more than a bite, it tasted like old oil or something. The noodles were lukewarm at best. The only decent thing was the gol gappa but if you're not into sweet gol gappa, then don't bother getting it. The gobi manchurian was so inconsistent, the sauce wasn't mixed in with the fried gobi. We asked for fried rice and they handed us jeera rice. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Vegan spicy potato Dosa $7.50

This place was pretty delightful. I got the vegan spicy Dosa and it was delicious, the daal that came with it tasted a little off to me (maybe some spice I don't like) but the coconut dip was a good balance. I ate the whole thing and was totally full, paying $7.50. What a deal. I wish I lived closer. The ladies were helpful too in guiding me towards the vegan and gluten free options. Also noteworthy, they have some less typical food options, things you might see eating Indian at a friend's house as opposed to an Americanized restaurant. Unfortunately they serve on paper/plastic and provide plastic cutlery. I hope the owners see this and consider compostable or non-plastic items.

Vegetarian samosa to go.

Glad they were open during COVID-19. This is my second visit here. The first time was by happenstance. I happen to be visiting the bakery next door. On my first visit, I ordered lamb curry, naan and gulab jamun. The dish was good, but there was a one note curry flavor instead of the depth of flavor I usually taste with Indian food. The galub jamun was delicious. On today's visit, I ordered vegetarian samosas. I'm not a huge fan of vegetarian samosas, but these were good. I ordered them for my son and loved them. The prices are great. Comparable for the quality and quantity of food received.

FOUND MY NEW FAVORITE INDIAN STREET FOOD RESTAURANT IN EAST BAY! I really wanted some chaat and Indo Chinese at the same time, and it's so hard to find a place that even serves one or both. We were in the Richmond area, and I knew it was a long shot but I still looked up "indo chinese" on yelp and found this gem! Couldn't be happier about this find! The best part? For the Bay Area, it's so cheap! This place reminds me of restaurants back in ATL :) This is a true hole in the wall, self-service kind of place in a little strip mall in technically what's San Pablo, not Richmond. But who cares where it is and if it's a hole in the wall or not when the food is out of this world? You're in the mood for chaat? Pakoda? They have got it. Indo Chinese? Covered. Biryani? Kebabs? Fish fry? No problem! What was that? Oh, you want Dosa, too? Sure, why not! Love the diversity in the menu here. Although I have only tried three items here, I have no doubt the others are excellent as well. I will definitely be coming to try them! We ordered the Lahori fish fry, chicken noodles, and gobi manchurian. Food came out super fast, and it was really fun to watch the lady cook behind the counter. The lahori fish fry was perfectly cooked and seasoned- crispy on the outside with lots of crushed whole spices and flavorful on the inside. No fishy smell at all that usually keeps me from ordering fish. The chicken noodles and gobi manchurian Botha's a wonderful smoky smell common in Hakka food. The gobi was perfectly fried too. Our friends have already visited and vouched for their aloo paratha! We are planning a game night soon just so we can order in on from spicy bite!

They do not have a great deal of variety. But they have a different menu from other Indian restaurants. Doesn't hurt to try.

Chicken Dosa $6.75 (Also comes with lentil soup).

The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered quite a bit, but the standouts were the Papri Chaat, Malai Tikka Kabob, Butter Chicken, Spicy Chicken Vindaloo, and the Garlic Naan--every single bite was mouthwatering. The service was just as impressive as the food. We were the last table to finish dinner, and they never made us feel rushed. They let us relax, enjoy our meal, and take our time, which was such a refreshing experience. Before we left, we noticed their beautiful display case filled with traditional pastries and sweets. We didn't have room to try any this time, but we'll definitely be back for them! If you're looking for authentic, delicious Indian food in the East Bay, I highly recommend Paradise Indian Restaurant & Sweets. We can't wait to return!

Very unassuming interior and almost looks like a cafeteria/diner. So don't expect your utensils to be changed out at every meal but the staff is super friendly and the food is worth the visit. We had a large table so we ordered quite a bit. We can't eat too spicy so we opted for the milder options. We got the lamb curry, lamb biryani, butter chicken, naan and garlic naan, pakora, saag paneer, and Chana masala. And a round of mango lassi for all! The food was very good and came in these cute metal vessels. I personally was super happy that we got metal utensils and ceramic plates. Every restaurant I go to now these days are plastic everything. If I had to pick a few favorites, I would say my favorites were the butter chicken, pakora, Chana masala and the garlic naan. I will be back!

My friend from El Cerrito has been coming here for years and took me to eat dinner here but now a new owner has expanded the restaurant space and upgraded the ambiance. My friend had the Pakora dish with chickpeas and was very tasty and fresh. I had the chicken tandoori which has a Smokey tang to them and the jasmine rice and sauces were all excellent. My chicken was moist and juicy and came out steaming on a hot platter. The serving sizes were generous and the price was very reasonable. The owner offered some tasting of Free Kittens beer and it was also delicious and we ordered some. The beer selection is second to none and had my favorite oatmeal stout ! It was quiet and seating was comfortable. I had leftovers as there was so much to eat despite being hungry from moving furniture all day. The menu is expansive and the food came quickly, a definite return choice in East Bay off the beaten path.

I went with some co workers for lunch and we shared what we individually ordered amongst ourselves because it was our first time getting Nepali food. When we arrived, there was no one at the front. Mind you, we came in 30 mins after opening for lunch. We rang the bell multiple times and then as we were about to go to a different place, thinking there was no one around, the cook came out and took our orders. I could tell he was a but overwhelmed since we were a group of 5, but he was really nice and courteous. He also answered the questions we had concerning the food. It took about 40 - 50 mins for our food to get in. We were the only ones in the restaurant so I'm surprised it took the long. That being said, i realized there was only one cook in the kitchen to it makes sense why it took so long however, I was not mentally prepared to wait that long. Around 12 pm, the hostess came in and was shocked to see us. She apologized for being late and wanted to get our orders but we told her the cook already got them. After waiting for about 50 mins, we finally got our orders. The food was AMAZING. Starting with the chicken sekuwa. It was a complete 10/10. I would definitely come back just for this. It was seasoned to perfection, very tender and juicy. The C Momo was very crispy and covered in a nice sweet chilli sauce. They're like deep fried dumplings. I would give it an 8/10. The lamb curry was very savory and filling. We got that with some rice and roti. It paired very well. I would also rate that an 8/10. The lamb thali was good but I think I was overwhelmed with everything on the plate. It was not bad, the lamb and lentil soup were good but I think I did not know how best to eat it so I could not fully appreciate it. I would give it a 6.5 The thai iced tea was pretty standard one. Very nice and not too sweet. 8/10 for ne The food here was pretty remarkable. I usually don't care about 'bad' service but this one really had a huge impact and stopped me from giving it a higher rating. I would not be too keen on coming back here with how understaffed they are but I do understand. If you're not in a rush, and are ready to grow your fruit of patience, I would definitely say the food is worth the wait and it was really good.

It's small outlet with about three tables (seating about 15-ish?). We walked up to the counter and placed an order for the Chaat (paapdi) and Samosa chaat. The paapdi chaat was pretty decent with the crunchy namkeen discs holding up layers of diced potatoes, masala, yogurt, sweet chutney, and chickpeas. Personally, I preferred the samosa chaat. The samosas stayed crispy inspite of the layers of chutney and warm channa masala heaped on top. All in all both the dishes were pretty nice. The confusing part is the paucity of chaat items on the menu. The establishment literally has "chaat" in it's name but you will find only three items under the "Chaat" subsection of the menu; the menu was dominated by lunch/dinner items. I did spy an "Aloo tikki" dish in the menu, I do wonder if it's served as an appetizer instead of as a "chaat". I wish them well and hope they get better with time, and hopefully with more chaat items on the menu.

Granting them the 4 stars. You can choose the spice level as well. Every dish we got we enjoyed. Lassis were sweet, yogurty, and had nice spice to it. The fish thali has wonderful flavor that paired well with the sides (except cold potatoes were ok). Samosas chana were also well flavored, paired well with the sauces and chickpeas, and crispy after being deep fried. Tikka masala and butter chicken were served in roughly 8 inch length dishes. Wonderfully seasoned, I would eat them for the sauce alone and chicken was tender. Served with rice and works great with it, but we also got some garlic naan (very garlicky would recommend). Chicken momos were ok in my opinion. Ok flavor but juicy and skin wasn't too thick. Isn't my taste personally, but similar to a korean mandu. However, can't rate them 5 stars because the service wasn't that great. We weren't checked on at all during our meal (or any of the tables next to us), no one even came to refill water. We had to flag them repeatedly to try and get the check and get a bag for our leftovers. They were attentive to what containers we needed for our leftovers though. I'd recommend this place for the food if you are ok with potentially lackluster service

I've had it before, but I don't remember it being chilled on the inside, but what I do like about it what is that? It has a crispy shell when you bite into it. The veggie samosas were my favorites.
