I have never had an issue with service or replacement of coals. This restaurant is a great study spot during the day with free wifi, or a great place to hang out after dark. They do not sell alcohol, but you can bring your own if you pay a pouring fee and let them hold the extra containers in the back (it's a legal thing). Definitely give this place a try. read more

I was so pleasantly surprised by my experience at Naara's. I was in San Antonio on a work trip and wanted to find a restaurant and hookah lounge where I could enjoy an evening alone. Thanks to other Google reviews I decided on Naara's. Once I pulled up, I almost didn't go in because the other businesses in the parking lot were closed and it looked empty from what I could see. But I went inside and was welcomed by the amazing staff to invited me to choose my own seat in the outdoor covered patio. I was so happy to see that half of the tables were people enjoying their alone time watching movies, working on laptops, there was even a lady knitting! My server Adriana was so kind and suggested great food and hookah flavors. I looooved my meal! Reminded me of Mediterranean restaurants I would go to when I lived in New Jersey. I liked that the hookah came with a brand new hose and they came and changed my coals multiple times while I was there. Don't ask how I ended up here - really, don't ask. It's a very wide open space that focuses on hookahs. But they also have a large food and N/A drink menu. You can BYOB but there is a corking/pouring fee. For beer, they charge $5 for six beers When you walk in, they take your drinks to the back and keep track of each drink you request. I left before my friends did and asked for the remainder of my beers, and I wasn't charged the pouring fee. It wasn't until the next day that one of my friends told me they were charged a $5 corking fee for ONE of the beers I had given them. The service was good, and the staff seems to know what they are doing when it comes to the hookah experience, but what do I know about that? All I can tell you is that I limped through the entire next day with a husky Kathleen Turner voice. Ugghh... evidently, even being in a hookah place isn't for me. Each person at the table is given their own plastic mouth piece to connect to the pipe hose when it's your turn to smoke. I assume this is standard, but I honestly have no idea. With a lot of businesses in recovery mode after all the closures/pandemic etc I've grown accustomed to the long waits, short staffing even short staffed or lack of any service even when fully staffed due to the inexperienced employees but Naara has never not once let us down. Even with only a total of maybe 6 people in house with a full restaurant and patio area the service was fast friendly and the food was hot and amazingly delicious and best experience as of recently. This is a nice place if you are looking for a hookah lounge. We tried one of their custom mixed, Queen of blues, and it was awesome! It also lasted a very long time, which it great. Ever since Saffron Persian Cuisine closed, I have been trying to find a restaurant to take its place and this is it! We wanted to try a variety of food when we went there, so went for the Combination Kabab Plate (marinated beef tenderloin, joojeh chicken, lamb kabab) and Gyro Plate. We were impressed with everything we chose. Even the hummus was above average and if you think about it, that's pretty hard to do. I have seen in many restaurant groups people asking where to get the best steak and while not a cut of steak, I would rather eat their marinated beef tenderloin over Perry's, Myron's, and Ruth's Chris. Yeah I said it... it was that good. The joojeh chicken was very tender and bursting with flavor and when you can make chicken this good, I'm a fan forever. My first time eating here and I left very happy (food wise) The service was mediocre and I didn't feel very welcomed upon walking in. The lady at the counter immediately said, "there's no tables outside you have find something inside if you want to eat here." I found that to be rude and I wouldn't have expected that but whatever. We sat down and I don't think anyone saw us for awhile because we had to flag someone down. Anyway, we placed our order after asking about some recommendations due a newbie accompanying our party. We felt quite rushed by the server, but I think she was pulled in several directions because it was busy on patio by the hookah smokers. The food took awhile and she checked on us a couple times, but I can tell the irritability by her demeanor. I ordered the gyro plate and it was a lot of food for one person to finish but I did. I would say out of all the Mediterranean places I've eaten in SA their food was the best. The gyro meat was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The rice was light and buttery and hummus was smooth. The dolmas was also really good, not to limey and not overstuffed with rice. My BF ordered the beef kabobs and the steak was to die for, I ate off his plate after finishing mine. Our other guest also finished her food and loved it and this was her first time experiencing Mediterranean food. I would definitely return and hope I have a better dining experience service wise. I love Naara. It is a very chill spot to go and smoke your hookah, drink some tea etc. I ordered the black tea with cardamom and it was 10/10. The staff is always polite and good vibes. The man managing your hookah takes care of it and does all that so you don't have to worry about it. I like that the staff doesn't bother you too often and just checks if you need something. I love that the way Naara is decorated for all types of vibes. Some people go read a book, others take their laptop, and you find others chatting it up. If you love good seasoned food and a laid-back environment, Nara cafe is the place for you. I've come here about 4 times and every time, we leave with smiles on our faces. The selection of food is broad and there's something for everyone, even a picky eater like me. The fries are one of my favorites as they put a delicious seasoning and the perfect amount of salt. Their pizza's are also some of our favorites, specifically their delicious cheese pizza that comes with a side of sauce that I think is composed of cucumber and chili. Their teas are delicious and we always order a full pot every time (our fav is the jasmine blossom). I am involved in a love triangle with Pasha and Naara. It's not as dirty as it sounds, I promise! The two cafes both sell Mediterranean food in the same plaza just by the SA Medical Center. Naara draws me in because she's pretty and fun, but Pasha's the one with the good cooking that you take home to mom. All jokes aside, Naara's food and service are lacking but the interior décor, patio seating, and hookah more than make up for it if you're into that sort of thing. Their most-recommended items tend to be the pizza, while the authentic dishes are less palatable. Falafel order is huge for $8 but dense inside and lacked the crisp exterior that I like. Pita is crispy rather than soft, which is odd because I know they have the same owner as Ali Baba International Market (same plaza) with amazing house-made pita bread. As for the service? They seem to constantly have "now hiring" signs up, and I've yet to have an order come out correct. Last week my date and I decided to grab some late night snacks and a little Hookah action. We enjoyed some games at Main Event and arrived at Naara shortly before 1100. I was surprised to see such an authentic establishment of this nature within San Antonio. It reminded me of a scene from a deployment years ago, men in sandals, colorful rugs and lamps filling unique spaces and hookah smoke wafting throughout the room. The place was standing room only and unfortunately we had to sit outside in the cool night air.. The plastic walls did create a buffer from the Cold wind and my attentive waitress moved us closer to a heater when seating became available. I spied men playing some type of card game that was followed by indescribable chatter and lots of hand movements.. I Became a little edgy as this place and the sounds associated could definitely cause a military member's PTSD to kick in.. I watched the scene and sipped the most decadent hot cocoa and whip cream that calmed my nerves and sent waves of warmth through my veins. The meal consisted of a Gyro pizza that had to be returned due to its arrival with olives that we asked to be left off and a plate of perfectly prepared beef samosas. The samosas were well seasoned and served with a bed of salad and sweet chili sauce for garnish. Fully stuffed I let the haze of hookah smoke carry me away and puffed and passed my Hookah pipe. The Irish kiss was a nice change from the usual blueberry flavor I Normally puff. All in all a unique experience since returning to the US and definitely a place on my return list... I miss Istanbul and the small joint creators of delicious foods & Esaú going atmosphere. SA has 1 in a hidden labyrinth of desert cafe, furniture,& hookah. The decor makes you feel like you're stepping down into a basement cafe right in the heart of Istanbul, Turkey. The decor is semi dark, rugs, brick walls, Turkish art, lit with Turkish lamps of every color. Big section is reserved for hookah peeps separated by a glass wall and door, Small area for none smokers. The staff of 1 Kaitlyn was very good and did her best, there was 1 cook as well. They gave me my 2 dollars but when my friend and I walked out I noticed one of the bus boys following us with his phone out. She had sent this goon to follow us and take a picture of our license plate. My friend has a bad knee which gave out while we were walking and she crashed to the ground, dropping all her leftover food on the ground. When I turned around the goon had a big smile on his face and chuckled with glee and offered to take the dropped food for us - gee thanks, how kind of you. Avoid this place! If you like Hookah, this place is kinda alright. This place is a restaurant/ hookah bar that serves Mediterranean and halal food. I decided to go here based on the pretty high rating on Yelp and the pics of the delicious looking food, especially their take on pizza. They have a spicy sauce that kinda comes with everything (I say that because everyone in my group got that sauce with their order). The sauce is kinda like Tzatziki but it's green and topped with a spicy red pepper sauce. The sauce was so tasty that I wanted to buy bottles of it to take home! Sadly though, the sauce was the only highlight of the night. The cheese pizza looks cheesy in the pics from other Yelpers. And one of the interesting twists is that it is topped with Mediterranean herbs and spices but overall the taste was meh... The vibe here seems pretty chill and if you like Hookah the nice thing is that they have separate servers dedicated just to that. I have to say that when I think of hookah I usually picture a nice lounge with comfy seats not like this place which has seats that are semi outdoors with metal seats that are not comfortable at all. Also, I kinda like the sweet smell of hookah and would think that everyone who is partaking is here specifically for that and will not smoke cigarettes, especially cheap stinky ones. On top of that, the guy smoking his nasty cigs decided to sit right next to me (go get your own table!) I wanted to leave so I when I wanted more food, I ordered a Gyro to take home. Naara is a Mediterranean restaurant located off of Wurzbach next to Baklovah Bakery and right behind Pasha. It's a combo hookah lounge and restaurant. However, I only went for the food, so my review won't be useful to people looking to see how the hookah was. I came here with a large group of people on a Friday evening. I couldn't make a reservation a few days in advance, but they do let you make a reservation the day of. I just called about an hour and a half ahead of when my friends and I planned on grabbing dinner. The interior definitely feels pretty chill - you get the overall intricate Mediterranean interior decorum when you walk in without it feeling ostentatious or anything. I ordered their chicken schawarma plate, and it's HUGE. like goodness gracious, I think I've gotten 3 meals out of it. But I thoroughly enjoyed it! The chicken was tender and nicely seasoned, paired with the creamy, tangy hummus, some rice, crunchy veggies, and the doughy pita - all the things I love about Mediterranean food in one bite. They do have some other interesting Mediterranean fusion options available, like pizzas and sandwiches, but I usually go for the classic Mediterranean stuff. I tried their Za'atar pizza, and I appreciated the spice, I just wish it had a little more spice on it. Decided to check out Naara Cafe during lunch. Great atmosphere, fresh weather and cool environment. I brought my 4 year old along and she loved it. There are no kids chairs, but she did fine on the reg one. The menu has a wide variety of choices (for kids and adults. I went with the chicken schwarma pizza: AMAZING. It was paired with a cucumber sauce for dipping and, wow. For dessert I had the Kanafeh: SO GOOD. I honestly thought that the portion for the Kanafeh would be larger but it wasn't. Still, a decent size for two people and a small child. Bathroom was clean and well-stocked. Staff was a bit forgetful... but overall ok. Food was brilliant. My husband and I came here on our wedding anniversary to relax and it was our first time ever coming here and I was pleasantly surprised. And it has a very calm relaxing vibe. They have a great selection of hookah flavors and the hookahs stay burning throughout the whole entire time while you're there and they come and check and redo your coals often. They provide you a plastic tip for your hookah also. They also have a great menu, and pasha is actually next door. But since pasha isn't open late it's nice to still be able to have some of the same food options at Nara cafe. The hookah Cafe is self-seating and once you sit down a server will come over to your section and they get your order if you just want food if you want the hookah or if you want both. Unfortunately our waiter Lauryn was not present or attentive. She didn't check on us there were several times where we had to wave her down or she would walk right past us and look the other way as though she was purposely trying to ignore us so that we didn't ask her for anything. my husband ordered a turkish coffee which is normally served with a side of water. She didn't bring one so we asked if she could. We watched her bring the table next to us drinks and walked right past us. We waited and nothing, and with his coffee getting cold I got up and went to the service area and got a water from one of the other servers. She then comes later and puts a water bottle right next to the one that I went and got and I had to tell her no I already got one since you didn't bring one and then she doesn't say anything and just takes it away no apology for not bringing one nothing. being my anniversary I was very upset with the service and lack thereof and definitely think management needs to speak with that server because if it wasn't for the atmosphere and the place itself I wouldn't return with her being there. We did end up ordering food, tea, chai milk tea and hookah and baklava which were good. Other than our server it was great.
