Hands down the best cake (comes in many different frosting types, and thin 1" slices) I have ever tasted, to the point that I don't even bother eating cake for desert in restaurants because I feel jipped paying for tasteless cardboard. So glad that I found this gem of a bakery. Everything is just scrumptious! I have had Napoleon's, German chocolate cake, the cannolis, sugar cookies and everything was just amazing. The Napoleons were made with cake and a touch of lemon which I had never experienced before and it was a pleasant surprise. These women supplied all my baked goodies over the holidays! Based on the predominately positive reviews, I must have ordered their only bad item??! I purchased some chocolate eclairs for dessert and the best I can do is figure the baker thought (s)he was supposed to be making donuts! The pastry dough had been deep fried! whole and were then filled with pastry cream.....not cut in half and filled. Nasty greasy flavor! And no, they were NOT in the doughnut case! They were right below the Napoleon's at the bottom of the case. Yuck! read more

Naas Bakery makes some good pies, cakes, and pastries. Their French Apple Pie is tasty. Their cheese danish and crullers are good - nothing to write home about. If you're not looking for a sugar rush they're not the place to go. They do have a very limited no-sugar-added selection, but it's only more of the sweet-tooth variety. Cherry pocket pastry type things. Not really someplace I'd go out of my way to get to on a regular basis. read more

I came here on a Wednesday afternoon to pick up a few things for my Mom since it was her birthday & she had mentioned before that Naas bakery was somewhere she had visited when she was a child. She raved about the French horns. I walked in and it was pretty empty and definitely had an older feel to the place, however I was mainly overwhelmed by the smell of heavenly baked goods. I was immediately welcomed by one of the workers and she offered to help me out. I felt like a little kid because I decided to basically pick one of whatever I wanted since it was all going to my Mom. I got a couple of French horns, a cannoli, the most adorable pig-shaped & decorated mini-cake, a honeybun the size of my head (HUGE), a chocolate donut, a jelly-filled donut, and some assorted cookies. I was expecting the total to come out to around $20-30.... And it was only $12 with tax. I was so shocked. My mom was so thrilled and surprised when I brought the baked goods home & she said that it all tasted just as good as it did when she was younger, nothing had changed. It's nice to know that small bakeries like this still exist and don't change even after 50+ years. I also tried a few things from the box of goods and everything was SOOO delicious. Went to Naa's this morning after dropping my daughter off at school. Upon walking in the bakery felt warm, and smelled sweet- a good sign that something is baking! There were a handful of options in the case: cannolis, cake slices, doughnuts, turnovers, cookies, and so forth. I opted for an apple turnover, a chocolate covered doughnut, and a smilie face cookie for my little one. It was about $3 and some change which was what I felt to be a good price- especially considering the size of the fritter! The fritter was amazing, the doughnut however was bland. If you're in the market for doughnuts then go to O's, but if you just looking for a nice mom and pop bakery with a pretty good selection then Naa's is a good bet! read more

I went to this bakery because of the good reviews. The staff was nice and friendly. The place is out dated but whatever, that's not important. I purchased a cake for my husbands birthday and was not impressed at all. The cake had the same texture as the ones you get from the grocery store. The commissary has better tasting cakes. This bakery is small and doesn't look that spectacular from the outside. But oh my god it was fantastic. I honestly wanted to buy everything in the store. The white chocolate macadamia nut cookies were AMAZING. So good that after we tried them we had to go back in and purchase the rest of them. Yes we did lol. I also had some kind of sweet roll with icing and raisins which was delicious. They bake everything fresh that day and whatever is left is given away to the food bank. Which I think is wonderful. The lady up front was so nice and helpful and even came out to our car to give us the forks we forgot. Even the prices were very reasonable. Whoever owns and runs that place is doing a great job. I have never been so satisfied with a bakery. Definitely will be coming back next time we are in virginia! read more

I have been a customer since 1987. The store used to be called Mrs. Bennett's. Different name, but the same great quality. I have tried almost everything and have never been disappointed. If you want a great cake, order the Shadow cake. It's one layer of yellow, one layer of chocolate with chocolate frosting. Ordered a Birthday Cake with seedless raspberry filling. Paid over 40,00 for this cake, Filling was full of seeds and cake was very dry, Was so embarrassed I took to this to a party. The cake looked ok but tasted no better than a cheap box cake. Everyone took a piece but ended up tossing more than half the cake. We rewarded ourselves after voting this morning by getting one of Naa's enormous, delicious apple fritters and threw in two long johns for good measure. Naa's has never disappointed and the staff is friendly and engaging. Their donuts are huge and fluffy, not like a typical donut shop with mass production. Disappointed. The staff was rude and unhelpful. I wasn't sure what I wanted so I asked what a few things were. It is hard to tell because nothing is labeled and the glass on the display case is very cloudy. The lady talked down to me, rolled her eyes and seemed annoyed that I was asking questions. On top of that, the German chocolate cake was average. I found it dry and bland. I could have gotten past the poor customer service if the food was worth it. Naa's bakery has an excellent variety of goodies available every time I stop in. Cookies, éclairs, lady locks, cake by the slice, breakfast treats, and much more. They also carry a few no-sugar added treats. The shop on Tidewater Drive is not much to look at, but the bakery treats are delicious! On my first visit I got some of the spicy Cheese Straws, which are awesome. I love gingerbread and was excited to see they had gingerbread cookies in the bakery case. It was not good. It was very hard and didn't taste like gingerbread at all. I think it may have been left over from Christmas! read more
