Awesome selection of tacos and nachos! We couldn't decide what to order. I had two different tacos that were amazing. Go here.

We found this place because of a flier in the tourist area of the motel and told the Nacho Hippo manager having the flier had brought us in. They have different types of nachos, personal and shareable.. We shared a personal which were pretty large and then tried every taco they had (not in the same day). Our favorite nachos were the *!# Hole Jerk Chicken with mango salsa, quest, cheese, and black beans and the Banging' Shrimp with fried shrimp, spicy mayo, mango pico, quest, cheese, jalapeños, and shredded lettuce. The tacos are individual in a soft corn shell. If you like green fried tomatoes, then the Mrs. Daisy is FABULOUS! with the fore-mentioned plus pimento cheese, spicy mayo, and slivered red peppers. I'm drooling just typing this! Other fabulous tacos are the Love You Long Time with fried chicken in sweet chili, pineapple salsa, mixed greens, spicy mayo, and cashews; Bangin' Shrimp with spicy mayo, shredded lettuce, and mango pico; Carolina Kid with pulled pork, slaw, sweet celery seed dressing; Baja Fish with grilled, fried, or blackened (I had fried), crisp slaw, and spicy mayo. We have been to this Nacho Hippo several times and have enjoyed it each time. The Carnitas were great and the jerk chicken nachos were too. We had the fried banana peppers for the appetizer and they were good with the spicy ranch dip. Overall a nice dinner and reasonable price. First time I used Yelp to check in and the hostess had no idea what I was talking about when we arrived. read more

We have been living here in market common about few months and my husband always wanted to have a food here. We didn't have a seat here but we ordered food to go. So it was "make your own nachos". And it was really delicious! We ordered it by phone so the guy told us food would be ready in 15 minutes. We came after 15 minutes and got our food without waiting. I would like to go there again and to feel how is it, not just food , but everything. So yeah, I think prices are kinda expensive. But I recommend this place. read more

This place has amazing nachos. We each (foolishly) ordered our own nachos and a taco. I ate the taco and about 40% of the nachos, before I was stuffed. She ate about 30% of her nachos, we both took the rest back to the resort. Also, best bang-bang shrimp taco I have ever had! My girlfriend and I went to Nacho Hippo and as soon we we walked out, my girlfriend felt sick and threw up all her food. We ate the same meal, so we weren't surprised when I got sick as well hours later. The service was great, but clearly their food is not sanitary for human mouths. read more

The atmosphere and menu were fun, but the service was pretty terrible. Our waiter was very friendly and really tried, but it took 20 minutes after being seated for him to even bring us menus. It then took another 20 minutes before our orders were taken. All in all we were sat waiting for over an hour before any food was put down in front of us. We were actually close to leaving several times, but every time it got to that point would be when he popped up to offer us something. The food was fine, but not as flavorful as you would expect from Mexican food. Overall we would not go back here, this area has so many other places to try there is really no reason to ever have to. read more

This is not a typical mexican menu. Every chip basket you pay for. I took my wife snd two kids and the bill was 66.00!! Portion sizes are large so we probably over ordered. Staff were very polite and attentive. I cannot reccomend this restaurant I was very disappointed read more

Unique environment, while the service is average at the least. They're famous for their nachos, and the 3/5 star speaks for the nachos. The prices are really friendly. I recommend this place only for a quick stop, when not knowing where to eat. read more

Food was great, inventive. Lots of different flavor combinations. DON'T order the chips, salsa, guacamole. They had absolutely no taste. We were slightly scared when that was the first thing we tasted. Our meals made up for it. Can't wait to return to taste the entire taco menu. Also, there was no air conditioning. I have been here twice, 3 months apart, and both times I left satisfied. I would suggest this as more of a lunch, afternoon snack place rather than a dinner spot. Both times, we got nachos (macho nacho and tree hugger respectively) and drinks. The first time I went, I got the house margarita which, was worth the three dollars, but nothing more. You are paying 3 bucks for a margarita, you cannot expect good quality. The next time I got a margarita with Casa Noble, lime and agave nectar, and was significantly better, albeit at a six dollar increase in price. The food is what you would expect from a place like this. The service is decent, and the price is right. Go. You wont be disappointed. read more

Lots of potential; little follow-through. I've been here a handful of times, and each time is a fresh disappointment. Not a bad place for our first go. Not really a long wait, even with a large group. The downside is they don't have any virgin specialty drinks, they have premixed slushie drinks. Other than that, had a bar area, tv's to watch games, open area for great air flow, and the service was ok for what it was (our waitress wasn't too attentive). I wish I could review the food but, we never made it past the horrible service. After being told there was a 45 table minute wait, my date and I found space at the bar. The bar has capacity for 20 plus folks however, there were approximately 11 people at the bar. We sat there for 5 minutes, with no acknowledgment. Fine. My guest went to the restroom, returned and we sat for another 8 minutes without a "Hello, we'll be with you shortly or "Would you like to see a menu or drink list?" All of this would have been semi-acceptable if the employees APPEARED to be busy at all. Instead, we saw FOUR bartenders stand directly in front of us & heard whole conversations about who clocked in first, what time they were going home, and what were their plans afterwards. It was as if they thought customers sit at the bar to look at them and get ignored. In my field, I spend $1500 plus weekly entertaining clients and other business guests. I'm always scouting out new places as options to bring my clients but this is definitely not one. read more

I gave this Restaurant (SIC) one star because the salsa was acceptable. Everything else was low grade. The Nacho chips were grease laden to the point that they were translucent. The Wings were so dried up that I had to drown them in blue cheese to get them down my throat. It was only after eating (a small portion of my order) that I found out this restaurant is part of the same family as Ultimate California Pizza, another One star special. The atmosphere was fun. It's a small place that has an indoor/ outdoor area that has a flow thru, so on a hot day it can be uncomfortable. The chairs are the bar type tall ones so they are uncomfortable if you are planning on chatting awhile. The nachos were good. The service was good. Awful meal and service ! Would not recommend and would never go back. We went in thinking we would have great Mexican food. Food was terrible , they messed up my gluten free meal and gave us regular. Went to Nacho Hippo for the first time and let me tell you it will be our last time also. I'm all about trying new places to eat and what not, but this place is no good. Our waitress was okay in a sense as she knew the menu but could only suggest one item, the shredded chicken was poorly seasoned, and we got a refill only after our meal was finished. We decided to order a house margarita seeing as they were only $3 but since we ordered a flavored one and not the "house flavor" which is lime that we instead got a $9 margarita. Not quite sure what was off when we visited. After reading about the hyped-up reviews I was pumped, as was the family to visit this establishment. Our server, who I wished I remembered her name would disappear for at least 15-20 minutes at a time. We were on the patio which was partially covered by an awning, but drinks would still go watery super-fast. Our orders were made, paying special attention to letting her know the items we didn't want on our plates. Low and behold, an hour later after much anticipation our orders arrived, my nachos which specifically asking for no pico or lettuce arrived covered in both. Told her I didn't want them, she said we can remake it, I said after an hour of having them not cooked right what makes me trust you'll get it right this time. The Nacho Hippo provides a fine service including hefty plates and tasty beverages. Chimichangas and tacos among other favorites are presented in an appealing fashion amidst a festive Latin setting. I greatly enjoy the entrees and the atmospheres. Providing one is into seafood, the Donald is a delightful dish that is definitely made for sharing. The tea is sweet and flavor abounds for all meals offered at The Nacho Hippo. read more

My family and I were visiting for the week, in December, so not a busy time and wanted a good lunch. There was a party of six of us, we walked into the restaurant and saw at least 10-15 OPEN tables. However when we told the hostess she said there would be a 25 minuet wait, when there were clearly open tables. They turned us away, a family of 6, who would have given the restaurant a substantial amount of money, got turned us away. I have never experienced this before at a restaurant when there are open tables. This is the most unprofessional business practices I have ever witness. My family and I went down and enjoyed an amazing meal at Tupelo Honey, I suggest going there and never to this restaurant again. read more

Decided to try this place since our favorite place was closed. Sad to say that the food was just okay. The app with the trio dips was pretty decent. We've eaten here before and the food and service were very good. Our last visit was not what it should've been. We were seated at a table for three and the restaurant was not very busy. Three or four different waiters and waitresses walked by us several times without even looking in our direction after we were seated. After about 10 to 15 minutes we decided to leave and told the manager about our problem. There are too many restaurants out there that acknowledge their customers within a reasonable period of time and act like they really want you to be there. We may go back at some time but they need to address this problem. read more
