We waited over 30 minutes for 2 entrees. Manager apologized and promised to discount our bill (never happened). One entree was supposed to have beans and rice came without -- only 2 tacos. Quesadillas came without pico. No silverware, had to wait for that after finally receiving food. Asked for bill as soon as food was delivered, didn't receive bill until long after we finished our entrees after specifically stating that we were trying to get out of there due to impending storm and tornado warning. The service was horrible...the person who served our food had long braids that weren't put up. That resulted in her hair getting into our drinks and some of it in our food, and when we asked for more food and drinks our waitress had an attitude about it. Drove by this place all week and decided to go for lunch on our last day here. It is kind if hidden from the main road. The building sits behind the McDonald's on Hwy 17 and Beach. As you walk up, it has a fun looking decor. There is a courtyard area with some chairs and a fire pit before the hostess. When the weather is good the entire place is open. The walls, which are clear plastic, roll up. Today, the weather was a little chilly so they had them down. The inside area has a decent size bar with many tables around it. Some of the tables are high tops and some are regular. There is also an outside seating area. Near the front is a stage for bands or other things. The list of performers is behind the hostess stand. It actually had dates and who would be there. The menu is not huge but has a good selection. We started with the Day After nachos. We had four of us there and finished them, not so easy, as they are a pretty big serving. Then we did tacos. Three in the group got a single tac I and I got two. My tacos were the Tijuana and the Carolina Boy. The Tijuana was good but the Carolina Boy was one the best tacos I have ever had. The house Margarita was decent and only $3, great value. Our server was Savanah, she was polite and very attentive to our needs. The waitress that sat us was less than personable. We would definitely return to Nacho Hippo. read more

Pains me to write this as we look forward to going here every time we went to Myrtle. No more. Drinks were smaller and less tasty than before. Nachos, which used to be amazing, were just ok. We are still looking for the meat and cheese; all we got were tomatoes, chips and lettuce. Tacos were ok but nothing to write home about. Disappointed. read more

You would think if you have a restaurant based on nachos you would have a great tasting tortilla chip. The chips here are thick, and tastes scorched. Overall the food we had was not very good. This place is one of my favorite restaurants in the whole world. We eat here every time we are in North Myrtle. It is fun, has great atmosphere, and always has a $3 margarita waiting for me when I walk in the door. They have live music starting at 7pm every Friday and Saturday night. The food is incredible, and very reasonably priced for the giant portions. This is also a great place to watch a football game or 2 on Sundays. read more

The tacos were pretty good, the happy hour has the best prices, so if you aren't there at that time, it can be kind of spendy. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed, comfortable surroundings. We were very excited to try this place with such a cool menu.... one phrase comes to mind that needs to be better set into place here... "quality over quanity". First off we knew there would probably be a wait because it obviously is in a busy part/popular place. We ended up waiting about 30 minutes at 515 with 4 people in our party. While waiting we went to bar to order drinks and the bartender literally walked by 5 times until a guy beside said um I've seen her walk by you do you want me to get her attention and he yelled and whistled loudly and finally her reply was I saw you I'm sorry but we are very busy... drinks were terrible! Our waitress was just "ok" not overly friendly but was decent. Our problem was that we felt MAJORLY rushed and reason being because our food came out so fast I do not understand how they had time to cook anything so it was obviously probably just heated. I had the love you long time taco and the mrs daisy which love you long time was ok, skip the miss daisy. There was literally a smidge of pimento cheese on the corner of the whole taco.... had to request more when I was told by waitress "they told me It was all there".. eventually she just brought more. Chicken on tacos was not good. My mom had the nachos which were totally soggy... husband had quesadilla with steak which was just ok... The icing on the cake was that I had went to take my son to restroom while my mom and husband waited at table when we were done eating and hadn't paid or gotten our check... a hostess came by and grabbed my son's highchair and walked off.. without q word... they were so shocked they didn't even say anything because at this point we were just ready to go. We have only been in myrtle beach for 5 days and we have eaten here 3 times. It's amazing! The rock'n lobsta taco is fresh and packed with flavor. The make your own nachos are delicious. The 'naked' nachos are $7 and not at all naked. They come with queso, melted cheese, pico de gallo, lettuce, and sour cream. These are plenty to share as an appetizer and more than enough for a meal! Their $3 house margaritas are delicious and have plenty of alcohol! I can't recommend this place enough!! They have good music playing with the option of indoor or outdoor seating! read more

I had lunch here today and was really disappointed. It was a cool atmosphere but the food is overpriced and not great. I shared a chimichanga with a strange flavor and yellow rice. The rice looked flavorful but truly had no taste. Not even salt could save it. Plus it barely came with any pico de gallo and no sour cream. We made reservations in which we were told it would be a 30 minute wait. Unfortunately, our wait ended up being an hour. Once we finally got seated and greeted by a server, it took 20 mins for them to bring our drinks and appetizers, and another 45 minutes just to get our food. There was no crowd, only a handful of people, so I don't understand why it took as long as it did. All of the meals were cold except for one order, as if it had been sitting in the back. Two of our orders were incorrect, so instead of correcting it and having to wait again we ended up just keeping the wrong orders. The chicken quesadilla wasn't appetizing. It wasn't seasoned enough and when asked for hot sauce, we were told they were out. Wait time was trash. Service was trash. Food was trash. I also found it odd that, no Hispanic decent employees were present considering this is a Tex-Mex restaurant. I would not recommend this establishment, nor will I be returning in the future. Was craving fish tacos so stopped in at lunchtime. Family in parking lot said they stop here every time they come to Myrtle Beach so I figured it's probably pretty good. Started with chips and salsa. Chips not house-made as one would expect but not too bad. Salsa assortment included a mango which was too sweet, a bland green salsa and a really good red. Although good, I would have expected a pico de Gallo. Tried the blackened fish taco-meh. Pretty tasteless. The fried fish taco, however, was delicious. I'm only reviewing based on drinks and chips and salsa. We came hoping for good drinks and food since they have a $4 margarita all day!! Now I'm not expecting the drinks to be strong since its a $4 house marg BUT this marg taste like mixer only. I tasted no tequila whatsoever. I didn't finish it. I took two sips. There is no point. Now they have three different salsas you can purchase together with bottomless chips. Okay, not used to paying for chips and salsa but fine, it's $3.95... Tasted the fire roasted salsa- YUCK!!!! tasted like tomatoes out the can. I'm sorry. We also ordered the Hippo bucket which had vodka, triple sec, etc.. A whole bunch of liquor!! Now this came out in a cute lil bucket with a shovel. The drink tasted just as cute as the bucket. Bottom line, if you want authentic mexican salsa- don't come here. You want good drinks? Place makes a good taco, I have had about 8 tacos. Love the ka ka Kia its got a juicy heat that I can only describe as new and great, and the carolina bbq is worth mentioning. We typically sit at the bar and kenny takes good care of us. He is a professional at his job. The vibe is pretty chill. The outdoor fire with adarondack chairs is a great place to have an evening beer. Speaking of beer, 2$ bud light limes help keep the bill down. read more

We had dinner there on St. Patty's Day. most of our party wanted to watch ncaa basketball and we were very happy plenty of tvs and a real nice atmosphere. Great and fun atmosphere. The street tacos were very good. Lots of choices. I enjoyed the fried lobster one best. Guacamole was not good. It didn't seem to be fresh.
