And yesterday, for the 4th of July, they had a live musician on the terrace - very talented guy who sang, played guitar, flute de pan and other instruments - loved it! Food was great. We both had dishes we tried before - chips and salsa, duck tacos (those are the best thing on the menu imo), fajitas and lomo Saltado steak. We loved everything. The chef *knows* how to season everything just right. Only thing - not sure why my potatoes were changed for fries - I noticed it was the case for other tables too - I'm guessing it was because they ran out of roasted potatoes, but I just wish our waiter had mentioned it. I would have substituted for a veggie - French fries were wasted. We will be back, hopefully before summer ends, to enjoy the terrace!

Ranch Camp is a cool little restaurant and bicycle repair shop combo -- for real! I just wish the…read morefood was as good as the overall vibe and the amazing service we received. Let's start with what we enjoyed during our visit: the drinks were good... the atmosphere was cool (more like a contemporary "cabin" vibe, which was definitely inviting)... and the staff were all stellar!! Where Ranch Camp let us down on this visit was the food. In fact, we desperately wanted to love the experience because everything LOOKED fantastic. However, all the food we ordered was bland. It all started with the pork nachos, which our party of 3 ordered as an appetizer. It was piled high and dripping with ingredients... but the dish completely lacked flavor. The pork was perfectly tender but tasted flavorless (until I added hot sauce and salt). I would also recommend they serve the dish with pico de gallo or salsa to boost the flavor. We had the same feeling with the burrito bowls. Two of us ordered different burritos (opting for bowls instead of tortillas), and we both thought the flavor was just okay. And on top of that, both of our bowls were lukewarm. In fact, the entrées weren't even hot enough to melt the cheese. I wish I would have sent the food back, but we were in a bit of a hurry. Finally, my friend James ordered the Chicken Quesadilla, which he also thought was "just okay." Oh, and we noted that a table near us sent back food... so not sure what was up with that, but we we weren't surprised based on our overall experience. Final Thoughts: Prior to visiting Ranch Camp, I read plenty of reviews praising the restaurant, so I'd like to think that they were just having a bad day.

Being from Central Texas, we weren't sure what to expect from a Mexican food restaurant in New…read moreEngland. But we love Mexican food (specifically Tex-Mex), so we decided to try Julio's. And what a great choice it was, too. We were greeted by a host as we entered the restaurant, and we were offered seating indoors or outside on the sidewalk patio. The air outside was cool, so we opted for the patio. After looking over the menu, I chose two street tacos filled with braised pork, bbq sauce, and pickled jalapeños. While we waited, we snacked on the chips and salsa appetizer. The chips tasted as if they were the last of the day's batch, but to be fair, we arrived late in the evening. However, the salsa was delicious and seemed as if it was made in-house. Enough heat to make your tongue dance, but not so hot to have you gasping for water. And it was just so flavorful, too. When my tacos arrived, each one came with two corn tortillas, which was good because the tacos were a bit juicy. And they were oh-so good. The bbq sauce was not too sweet and very flavorful. The pork was well-cooked and tender. It was one of the top 3 tacos I've eaten, and I've eaten many. I wish I could say the rice was special, but it's your garden-variety Spanish rice, not unlike the box mix from the grocery store. And the black beans, while good tasting, seemed no different than the canned variety. Had the tacos not been so dang good, I might not have been so forgiving of the sides. But it looks (and tasted) like whatever money they might have saved on beans and rice was more than made up for in the tacos. (My wife chose the traditional tacos, and she loved those, as well.) If I had to pinpoint it, I would say it seems like Cali-Mex instead of Tex-Mex, as we're used to, but others might see it as more like actual Mexican fare. (I'll admit to not being too familiar with that style of food.) As for the restaurant itself, I didn't see much of it except for when I went to wash up (as I said, the tacos were juicy!), but there was a full bar and plenty of tables (it was quite full at the time). As for the staff, Hannah did a great job of taking care of us. She was friendly and attentive without being overly so. We're visiting Vermont for about 6 more weeks, and I think Julio's will be a weekly visit while we're here.
