It was bright and looked like other lobster roll restaurants I have been to in Boston. We looked at the menu and both ordered the same thing- a hot Connecticut Roll with a side cup of Clam Chowder. We sat down and waited as the 2 staff prepared our food, and while we the only ones in there, every table was dirty, so we hesitatingly sat down at the cleanest one and waited. A few minutes later, they brought our food out to us, but we had to ask her to clean the table, which she quickly got a bottle of spray and a towel and wiped our table down. I dove into the Clam Chowder and was immediately disappointed- it was barely even warm, thin, watery and without flavor. I tried to spice it up with salt, pepper and hot sauce to no avail. Now, the lobster roll was a different story- bun toasted perfectly, the lobster meat layered inside with hot butter, I took a bite and was in heaven. The roll was good, so that saved the day- I would not order the chowder again, though. I sent to the bathroom to wash my hands and was immediately hit with the stench of sewer, so that was a real turnoff. This could be a 5 star place if they fixed the simple things. I would only come back here to get a lobster roll to go.

I got my meal to-go both times, utilizing their touch screen to place my order, grab a number, and take a seat near the kitchen to wait for food. I will admit that service is a bit slow for a "fast" food joint, but at least the inside is comfortable and relaxing. Just meant I got to sit in the A/C (which in August in Denver was really nice) and sip on my beverage while I waited (and snag a quick refill on my way out!). I did get really excited when I saw Dr. Pepper was one of the options on the soda machine, though perhaps that shouldn't surprise me since Torchy's is from Austin, TX and Dr. Pepper is manufactured right nearby in Waco, TX; they probably have a handshake agreement, haha. Dr. Pepper is my favorite soda pop, so any chain that carries it automatically gets more of my money. I was particularly impressed about how promptly they were open for business on Sunday morning. They actually had their OPEN sign illuminated and their doors open BEFORE the posted hours (just by a few minutes, but it meant I was the first customer there and able to get my day started that much quicker, which was appreciated). The food I got was all yummy, but I most especially liked the chips. They didn't taste like crummy fast food chain chips (looking at you, Taco Bell), they tasted like legit sit-down Mexican restaurant chips, with that solid crunch and oily feel. One of my tacos came with a lot of cheese (yay) but it got really stuck to the inside wrapper (oops). They are also generous with sauces in little cups to add to your tacos. In the future, when I'm not in a hurry, I may be curious to check out their alcoholic menu, as they do have a bar on the inside too. My husband got the Wrangler, which was ok (he said the egg wasn't very good) and the loaded tater tots, which he proclaimed delicious. Sadly, I could not replace my old Torchy's tshirt from Texas; they are supposedly between vendors and had none!

I stopped there for burgers and the quality was absolutely great. The burgers were incredibly flavorful and clearly made with fresh ingredients. The meat was juicy, the buns were soft, and the toppings were fresh and well-balanced. The fries were crispy and seasoned perfectly. The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in and checked in regularly to make sure everything was perfect. I am not sure this is the best burger in town, but it is a pretty decent burger. However, definitely was greasy and fairly expensive when compared to other similar quality burgers in the area. I have no problem paying the price if something is worth it, but I'm not sure this was.
