Small cup of pineapple and passion fruit

Nado gelato is one of my family's favorite stops while visiting Coronado island. They have great flavors and is always a yummy treat. This visit I tried the pineapple and passion fruit flavors and was very happy with my choice on a nice sunny San Diego day!

I LOVE NADO GELATO!! I have been coming here for years and it's got to be the best gelato in San Diego. Highly recommend their black vanilla as it tastes like a light yet creamy version of the quintessential flavor. They also give so much for a small size!! Taking a walk around Coronado then finishing off with a Nado Gelato is the best

Very cool place on Coronado island. They have an excellent variety of flavors and the staff were happy to tend to our needs.

Overall, average gelato. My guy and I got to try a few flavors before we ordered. I was very grateful for this because we ordered the only 2 flavors that were good to us: Mascarpone Lemon Zest and Blueberry Lemon (Chef's Special). We got a small and the scoops were baby scoops compared to what most gelato places will give you. We ended up getting tired of the flavors after a few bites each and didn't wanna finish the rest. Pretty pricey for the amount you get and average flavors. I don't think I've ever had such disappointing gelato before.

If you are a fan of gelato and you find yourself on Coronado island, you should swing by this award winning shop Nado is a sister location to the Gelato 101 locations at Solano Beach and Encinitas. It's a quaint little parlor just around the corner from the main drag of Orange Avenue When we stopped by, this place was packed, but we were able to get our order in no time at all. There is some seating inside the parlor, but you can also find plenty of patio seating as well There are a variety of flavors and sizes you can order ranging from kids to large. You can even take a pint to go. In addition to scoops you have the option to order a smoothie or a coffee Some tips: There are so many delicious flavors to choose from, so, sample all the ones you want to try and get a couple scoops to try a variety. While there is plenty of seating, consider taking your gelato to go and enjoy it as you walk around the very lovely and scenic Coronado island Cheers!!

We wanted to try this place after hearing about it, but unfortunately it didn't quite live up to our expectations. The gelato was just average--nothing bad, but nothing particularly memorable either. It's okay if you're nearby and craving something sweet, but it didn't really stand out compared to other gelato spots. The inside does have clean and cute decorations, which make the space pleasant to sit in.

Nado Gelato Review Food: The mojito flavor had a strong lime taste which is great if you're into citrusy flavors. Tiramisu leaned more on the chocolatey side. The coconut was really good and had coconut shreds in it which gave it a nice texture. Passion fruit was refreshing and a good fruity pick. Amaretto was probably my favorite had the right amount of sweetness without being too much. Service: The workers will let you taste test flavors and answer questions. Quick and simple process. Ambiance: Such a cute little spot to grab gelato while walking around Coronado. The inside is small but bright and nicely decorated. Sitting by the windows is a nice way to chill and enjoy your treat.

Yummy gelato. The service could have been more cheery. The female behind the counter didn't crack a smile. Scoops were kinda on the small side for the price. We shared a size small. Outdoor patio tables available. Some of them needed wiping, but I don't think that occurred to the employee. Located on C Ave off Orange Avenue, within walking distance of the Hotel Del Coronado. Otherwise, street parking. Helpful?

Small size cup - pistachio & hazelnut

I came here by chance because we just finished up our bike ride next door at Wheel Fun Rentals. I saw there was a line going in, so I looked this up on Yelp really quick and saw there were great reviews for this place. So decided to check this out! The line moved by very quickly, it seemed like everyone already knew what they wanted to get haha. I asked if they do samples (since I didn't see anyone doing that?) but yes they do! I got to sample a few and the pistachio and hazelnut stood out to me the most. Thankfully the small size cup comes with 2 flavors cause BLESSSS. For the price of these 2 flavors in a small cup, it's very affordable! I don't have gelato very often, but the gelato here was sooooo soft and rich. Between the two flavors I got, I actually really enjoyed the hazelnut one the most. It's definitely sooo rich and extremely soft. This made my weekend LOL There's a few table seating around, so great way to cool down after a bike ride.

Was in town with my college group of friends after camping and going to the beach and wanted to try this place out that's near the beach. It's pretty good and worth checking out. I ended up getting the lemon zest and raspberry flavors.

Friendly staff. Very good gelato and very fairly price for an island treat. Stop by you won't be disappointed.

    Coffee and amaretto
    Jade S.

Very quick service and nice staff. They allowed us to sample a few flavors. The amaretto and coffee blended so well together! Delicious gelato that wasn't too sweet and it was easy to eat and very light. Some seating inside and outside. Everything was clean.

    Small size ($5.85)

We couldn't leave Coronado without grabbing gelato from one of the local shops. Nado makes all of their gelato fresh daily and they had 20 varieties to select from, including several traditional Italian flavors and a few fruity vegan ones. One of the employees welcomed us right as we walked in and allowed us to each try a couple samples. He was so kind and probably would have kept the samples coming had we asked! I selected a small size which is $5.85 and includes your choice of two flavors - matcha and amaretto for me! The matcha had an authentic tea flavor with a nice balance of earthy and milky notes. After not having a matcha for about a week, this was delightful. The amaretto tasted similar to marzipan with tiny bits of crushed almonds throughout; I could have definitely devoured a full cup of just this one. I enjoyed my gelato overall, but it just wasn't as creamy as I anticipated. I also found a small chunk of ice in the amaretto, so I'm not quite sure what happened there, but I can easily look past it. I appreciated that both flavors tasted very natural indeed and neither was too sweet. I'd recommend for a sweet treat after a day of exploring the island in the heat.

But I also think it's important to include that this isn't a basic, regular, run-of-the-mill indulgence. I was so impressed by the flavor combinations! We were given the option to combine two flavors of gelato in the same cup, which was a fun way to try a couple of options. Since we had never tried a European-style café before, we thought we'd give it a shot. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. Everything from the food to the ambiance and overall cleanliness left a lot to be desired. The paninis were unbelievably bland -- they really need some kind of sauce or spread because they had almost no flavor at all. On top of that, the prices were surprisingly high for what we received. The desserts were around $11 each, and they didn't even taste fresh. The bread pudding was so hard we could barely get our fork through it. The only redeeming thing about this place is the location. Otherwise, the tables and floors looked unclean, which made the whole experience even more off-putting. This restaurant really needs to revisit its menu and overall upkeep because, as it stands, it's not a place we'd return to.

I'm from New Orleans and have yet to find a true snowball spot outside of there, so I wasn't about to turn around. The line looked intimidating at first, stretching to the door, but it actually moved pretty quickly. It took about 10 minutes to order and get my food, which was a pleasant surprise. I ordered the small passionfruit shaved ice stuffed with avocado pistachio ice cream and topped with condensed milk. The ice cream alone deserves its own moment. It was easily some of the best I've had. Rich, creamy, and genuinely impressive. The shaved ice, though, didn't land the same way for me. The menu leans heavily into fruit flavors, which just don't pair that well with something like pistachio or chocolate-based ice cream. The passionfruit itself was pretty tart, which might work on its own, but it clashed with the creaminess of the ice cream. I found myself wishing they had options like coconut, amaretto, or chocolate syrups to balance things out better. Also, coming from New Orleans, I'm used to condensed milk being layered throughout, not just on top. It makes a difference in every bite. And honestly, the price here is noticeably higher for something that didn't quite hit the same. I'd come back for the ice cream without hesitation. As for the shaved ice, it just didn't quite deliver that nostalgic snowball experience I was hoping for. The service was phenomenal though. And it was a lively crowd.
