We came here after every surrounding place had lines out the doors, we spotted their patio and saw tables open. Obviously a gem that hasn't been noticed yet... loved the vibe of the place. So cute!! Staff was super friendly, so many great looking things on the menu it was hard to choose. We had a larger group so got to taste a bunch of it!! Will definitely be coming back!!

We go to villa nueva every single time we are in Coronado and they never disappoint. From the large portioned meals to the massive mimosas to the mimosa towers to the muffins, everything is top notch. The servers are also so friendly and it gives off a very cute cafe vibe. We love this place and will be back soon

I love the muffins & coffee. they have a discounted blue card that they stamp & after 10 stamps you receive half off. One suggestion is that it should state on card if it's for fresh or day-old muffin.

Excellent service. The girl at the counter was very welcoming and offered great suggestions. Their iced chai latte is amazing! Not too sweet, just right! The ambiance is very cozy and felt like a home kitchen. They have a great assortment of baked goods and an extensive menu. I would definitely come back when in Coronado.

I was in town visiting my daughter that had just arrived back from deployment with the navy. We were walking around Coronado and stumbled upon this place. The wait wasn't bad to get seated & due to light rain we sat inside. Now I don't know the market in this area but it seemed overpriced for what we received. Between the simple waffle with strawberry with whip and my daughter's omelet & drinks our bill was $52 & with $12 for a tip well it shot over $60 being from Orlando I guess it just shocked me a little bit for what an easy breakfast here cost is all. I'm used to this being no more than $20-25 bucks. But hey most of u will just say well welcome to California Food was great A+ Service was decent C+ seemed like most were in highschool and this was just a weekend job for them. Way over priced for what u get imo

Put this place on the map, if your SD or Coronado for the weekend you HAVE TO get breakfast here! The cutest cafe & sweetest staff. It's giving small town hallmark movie cafe with some authentic Mexican inspired dishes. From to the first bite to scraping the plate you can definitely tell they pour love into their dishes as well as the quality of ingredients. You can truly taste the artisanship through the fresh pastries. I adore this cafe.

We stopped in to grab some Danish/muffins prior to hitting the road. Service was friendly. The Danish were okay, not as light/fresh tasting as I would expect from this sort of place. We took a couple of muffins for the road/home to Arizona. They were dry and fell apart once the paper was removed. Appears their breakfast is good from the other reviews but we were not impressed with the baked goods.

Cute cafe! They have the BEST palmiers- the outside is caramelized and insides are flaky. The staff are very nice and friendly. They were nice enough to split the breakfast burrito for us. Taste wise the breakfast burritos were ok! The iced vanilla latte was also ok and was a little sweet for my liking.

We found our new favorite Cafe! This cute and quaint bakery has the sweetest staff & baked goods. I enjoyed their breakfast croissant sandwich. The portion was huge. I didn't finish it all, but every bite was delicious. Loved how soft the eggs were and fluffy & fresh the croissant was! My fiancé got the chorizo burrito with a side of beans. Those beans are to die for. Only issue here is parking. There's street parking, but can get busy (especially on the weekends)!

Our server was Chris and he was OUTSTANDING...very attentive and very friendly. Both managers visited our table several time to make sure we were good. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that what I had was just a bit underwhelming. We ordered the braised beef potstickers, california roll, and grilled and chilled shrimp for appetizers. The meat in the potstickers was very mushy. The california roll was decent. The grilled and chilled shrimp were fine. My husband had the filet - ordered medium well, served medium...the twice baked potato was very small and seemed to be overcooked. I had the lemon chicken entree - the taste was good, but was just a bit dry...it was served with fries, which was fine. The other couple ordered the skirt steak and the braised short ribs which they seemed to enjoy. My drink was amazing - the Amalfi Spritz. For dessert, we tried the butter cake...again, a bit underwhelming and not really good on flavor...I did taste the toffee and caramel, but the cake itself had no taste. Overall, I would go back because of the service, the drinks, and the ambiance.

We enjoyed the open kitchen, the high ceilings, the breeze and the comfort! We didn't have reservations and it was Mother's Day weekend so we expected to wait and I'm glad we did. I had a delicious granola bowl, a few people in my group had the Eggs Benedict on the house-made English muffins (so good) and there was a very happy avocado toast in the mix. We shared an epic French toast with magical cinnamon syrup - really recommend the French toast!! Loved it enough to add it to the rotation when visiting San Diego.

In my opinion, the true measure of a business is how it handles things when something goes wrong, and this restaurant handled the situation exactly the way a quality establishment should. Here's what happened: I stopped in briefly to use the restroom and grab one of the spritzers they make here. First off, the spritzer is absolutely delicious -- light, refreshing, and something I highly recommend if you visit. Unfortunately, my interaction with the host was less than stellar. I asked about ordering the spritzer and was told two things: 1. He didn't think they made it. 2. He "didn't have time." That response honestly caught me off guard. A paying customer walks in asking to purchase a product your restaurant does in fact make, and the answer is that you don't have time? Serving guests is literally the core function of hospitality. Thankfully, one of the waitresses, Rachel, who had helped me during a previous visit completely turned the experience around. I asked her for the drink and without hesitation she smiled and said, "Right away!" Within moments she returned with the spritzer in hand. Professional, courteous, and exactly the kind of service that keeps people coming back. I explained the interaction to her and she looked genuinely puzzled. I later mentioned it to the manager, whom I've met before and always found to be approachable, professional, and kind. He was clearly appalled by what happened and handled the situation with sincerity and care. That's exactly why this place continues to earn high marks from me. Problems can happen anywhere. What matters is whether management and experienced staff know how to recover -- and they absolutely did. The seasoned staff and management here understand hospitality. Based on this interaction alone, I honestly think the host may simply be better suited for a non-customer-facing role.

But nonetheless the dark interior and laid back environment was pleasant. Even with the laid back environment, the service was attentive and helpful. You can check out my 2 menu pics for the thematic food and drinks that are available. We started with the Volcano Fries. This dish starts with your basic fries, and goes up from there. As you can see from my pic, there are plenty of seasonings on the fries. But it's ALL about their sauces: Sriracha Aioli and Hot Honey. (BTW, the heat wasn't overly hot and didn't distract from the flavors.). Between the garlic, the sweet/heat action, the creaminess of the Aioli, these fries were very hard to stop munching on. While not a super-phenomenal appetizer, it was incredibly irresistible. We then finished with the Pineapple Fried Rice with Spam & Portuguese Sausage, see my pic. We liked the combination of the fried rice with the rich meats (yes, I classified Spam as a meat. This reminded me of some of the Hawaiian Spam dishes.) The seasoning was rather weak. But it still was a hearty and robust meal.
