Just when I was seated and facing the wall when i saw this small Paper in the wall that says 20 % for Military, law enforcer and first responders, it will be nice when a customer is paying at the Cashier at least mentioned the discount, i was already wearing a Hat with a big Retired Navy Hat on it and the cashier didnt even mentioned about their discount as they said 20 %. I was in town visiting my daughter that had just arrived back from deployment with the navy. We were walking around Coronado and stumbled upon this place. The wait wasn't bad to get seated & due to light rain we sat inside. Now I don't know the market in this area but it seemed overpriced for what we received. We went inside excited to try the pastries, and wow were we disappointed. The lady suggested the carrot cake muffins, saying they were absolutely delicious. I was eyeing the maple apple muffins but she insisted I try the carrot cake instead, so I did. YUCK!!! As someone who has taken culinary and baking classes, I honestly feel these were old and spoiled. The carrot cake should have been called carrot brick because it was so dry and hard, I had to put water on it since it broke apart like powder. We found our new favorite Cafe! This cute and quaint bakery has the sweetest staff & baked goods. I enjoyed their breakfast croissant sandwich. The portion was huge. I didn't finish it all, but every bite was delicious. Loved how soft the eggs were and fluffy & fresh the croissant was! My fiancé got the chorizo burrito with a side of beans. So a few things...this is a bakery. We went knowing that and wanted to eat breakfast so we paid a pretty penny for our meal. We needed off the resort food but we didn't get off the resort pricing. It was almost $80 for our breakfast. We went on a Tuesday morning and found seating for our party of five (2 adults and 3 kids) fairly fast. The kids loved the pancakes and I absolutely loved my croissant sandwich with potatoes. It was just what I needed as I was ovee traditional breakfast at that time. I wanted a caramel latte but they were out of syrup and they only had one person working espresso, so I opted for regular coffee which wasn't the best. It was very watery and flavorless. The service was great, from front to back of house. It looked like a team effort keeping everything tidy and clean. Truly wanted to try more pastries but maybe next time. I walked in seeing a photo of their dubai chocolate advertising and wanted to have some, as Ive been craving some dubai chocolate. My first sign should ve been that the workers would just sitting on their phones or talking with one another not even at the counter. As I walked towards the counter, I saw at least 6 flies inside the pastry shelves, just snacking on all the pastries that are being sold. That's disgusting. Then after ordering the expensive dubai strawberries, we did not receive dubai strawberries. Whatsoever. In the cup were poor quality, mushy strawberries with the THINNEST layer of chocolate drizzled on top. NO KATAIFI, NO PISTACHIO IN SIGHT, AND WORST OF ALL... THERE WAS WHITE CHOCOLATE. The minuscule amount of kataifi on top was not even kataifi, as it was not cooked and seemed to be smothered in olive oil. I'm pretty sure it was 100% plastic. You can just IMAGINE my disappointment. Then we kindly confronted the worker who served our supposed dubai strawberries but we received some rude remarks in return, completely ignoring our concern. As a dubai chocolate lover and enthusiast, I am confident that the entire UAE would be very offended. DO NOT come here if you have taste buds and self respect for yourself. read more

With Coronado's great weather, the patio offers a refreshing place to dine and people watch. On this morning we had a Latte and bran muffin. The Latte was good, nothing too special. Nope unfortunately after years of enjoying their tasty food they've gone very bad on service with extremely "soup nazi" type attitudes. It's no wonder they're losing business and much slower than in years past. A server shamed me for asking about a menu item and then accused us of returning an item before - which has never happened. They initially refused to replace the item and then said they'd have to speak with the owner, then there would be additional cost and they were put out by doing that. It was a very weird experience and truly felt like their culture of service is customer is always wrong and summarized by the printed sign above the bakery case "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone"...hmm If the customer is always wrong then the customer reserves the right to not eat there again too. read more

Called in a quick breakfast order to go after a run on Sunday morning. Was told wait time would be 10-15 minutes got there within 10 and my food was ready. Service was good, but as I was just paying and taking my food to go I did not get the full experience. On to the food, portions are HUGE! This plate fed two people the country potatoes were AMAZING. I have a thing for potatoes and if they aren't good it's ruins my meal lol but I was very impressed with these. The croissant was warm and flaky. The service is abysmal and that's due to breakdown between front and back of the house. Not only that but some of the staff is worked ragged and their bosses don't look out for them to take the breaks needed, working their staff to the bone. You can tell there's a hostile work environment when some staff talks trash about another coworker or even a customer and does so in another language. I've even heard the higher ups being condescending to employees. But the worst thing of all was when the cooks got an order wrong and gave the wrong dish to a server, avocado toast and the customer requested no chili flakes and lo and behold, there are said chili flakes. I find out on Facebook that a previous server was told to just take the flakes off and bring the same dish out to the table that just sent it back instead of throwing it away and starting a new meal. Not only is that disgusting and lazy, but straight up dangerous and health code violation. What if the customer was allergic to the ingredient they requested not to have? Heading about this makes this business an absolute disgrace to be in Coronado, and you see they're rather active on social media and try to sweep their wrong doings under the rug. Another business would be a better fit in that location for the community. If I could give the place zero or negative stars, I would in a heartbeat. read more

Came here for a Saturday morning breakfast. There was no wait and ample seating available - a huge plus! I ordered the eggs benedict and a bear claw, which were absolutely delicious. The potatoes on the side were a bit lack luster. I usually love potatoes, but there ones were lacking in the crispy and seasoning departments. My caramel latte was so cute and delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and it did not take more than 10-15 minutes to get all of our food after we ordered at the counter.
