    Cappuccino
    Josh W.

I come here for coffee and I stay here for the atmosphere. The baked goods entice me some where in between. This is my favorite cafe on the island to sit down and enjoy good coffee with better company. The patio feels nestled, but spacious offering a great venue to sit and relax. The coffee is very good for a cafe that offers a full pastry and food menu. I typically order the cappuccino here as it provides a good balance between strong espresso and milky lattes. The food is high end and I enjoy exploring something new every time. The eggplant panini is incredible. The rotating stock of baked goods are never the same and I enjoy the surprise of what flavor of scone they'll have whatever day I found myself here. If you're in a rush (sorry), their take out service is efficient.

I got a decaf earl grey and the seared tuna sandwich. The tea was soothing. I would've liked a bit more seasoning on the fish itself, but it was quite good otherwise. The white sauce did pull most of the remaining weight. The tuna was also super thick and fat, definitely not a small portion. The bun was also thick and supportive. The fries were generically good. They remind me McDonald's fries a bit, but when they're actually fresh and have nice texture. I get the sense that this may not have been their best items. If I come back, I sorta want some quiche and salad.

Wow! Great food. Had the stroganoff. Huge chunks of beef, great cheese and they make the pasta themselves. Best stroganoff I have had ever. And don't forget the deserts They make themselves and fresh daily. Had this insane cookie and yes I had the brownie. Looking forward to going back and trying the rest of the desserts and menu. First time, but not my last.

Enjoyed a nice quiet breakfast out side. Had a cold brew and Mexican mocha along with an order of granola and oatmeal. Nathaniel was nice and let us take our time relaxing and enjoying our coffee. He offered for us to look at their pastries as their dessert menu changes daily.

Nice seating indoors and out. Indoors is very noisy with most of it coming from the staff and kitchen. Very loud. They open early but their breakfast menu is extremely limited. Cafe was very good. Oatmeal was standard. Croissant was very nice and served warm. Seems it really is about the takeout pastries until lunch. Wouldn't come back with a group for breakfast unless you want coffee and light food. Lunch and dinner menu are more extensive. Example they don't serve any eggs at breakfast unless you buy the $20 quiche. Service was decent but no follow up in the taste of food nor cafe check. Seems they were busy still setting up the tables and getting squared away. Example: They delivered the table flowers at the end of my meal as a drive by with no words. Just plunked it down. Should have that done before they open. Get a reservation for outside tables. They offered a table but then told me the best tables were reserved. Was here for a good bit and no one ever sat at them. Va bene. Tables and floor were a bit dirty for starting the day. Overall a solid 3 based on selections, cleanliness, price and value. It's got a bit of a cult following but I think it is time for a refresh and increased attention to detail. If you want a full true breakfast this isn't the place on Coronado.

Prime location right at the viewpoint.

What a cute cafe! Recommended by the valet at the hotel when I asked for good coffee and he said, "there is a European bakery up the street..." I said, say no more. Great baked goodies, a large food and lunch menu, and delicious coffee. I will be back! Service for to go was super friendly.

So I think similar to other reviews we waited a bit by the sign that requests you wait to be seated, until I saw someone walk past me to the register so we waited in that line i let to get to the front and again not be acknowledged by any stay for a few more minutes. Then when we did begin to order they asked "to go" and when we stated for her is when we were seated. Overall waiting to order maybe took 20 minutes? I can understand- there was little staff present between orders bussing and making drinks. It's a large restaurant so it's hard to staff. The food was delicious, we ordered a pavlova, the banana chocolate chip coffee cake, a charcuterie board and two coffees. I could have been happier with the meal. We weren't in a hurry so really the wait was fine.

Stopped by Tartine and had the prosciutto panini -- it was really good, fresh, and full of flavor. The servers were super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Simple, delicious food with great service. Would definitely come back!

    White Chocolate lemon tarte

Stopped at this Cute little European style cafe in Coronado to celebrate with a friend. I liked the feel of the restuarunt. It reminded me a lot of an outdoor French cafe. We ate outside and there were alot of flies, but they have table fans to keep them away (I only realized what it was halfway through my meal). My waiter Nate was kind and attentive. Positives: As far as food goes, I really liked the Cheese platter with Baugette as a shareable with friends. It came with goat cheese, Blue Cheese, and Brie with fruits and an amazing nut bread. The dessert here was to die for! I had the white chocolate lemon tarte and my mother had the Ricotta Pistachio tarte and it was delectable! Negatives: I asked for hot tea, but had to return because the tea was in a plastic bag even though it is Organic, if you are trying to steer away from microplastics, order the coffee. For my meal I had the Eggplant Panini, the bread was perfect and crisp but inside lacked in flavor. If you order this ask for a side of their balsalmic dressing, it really made it delicious. It came with a side of greens, I am normally a salad person but the greens tasted so bitter. I recommend getting the fruit instead. Some of the silverware had to be sent back to the kitchen because it was dirty. Overall it was a good experience.

We were in town visiting in late April. We've always come here for breakfast, but never for dinner. So, we gave them a try for dinner. Rachel was our server and she is a sweetheart! We so enjoyed talking with her. We ordered the salmon and beef stroganoff. Both were excellent! So often salmon is overcooked, but this salmon was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The beef stroganoff was the best we ever had! It's not a traditional recipe, but has tri tip, cremini mushrooms, onion sauce and gruyere cheese. So delicious! We also ordered a mocha which was very good and a chocolate peanut butter Pot de Creme (which was good, but we really couldn't taste much peanut butter). We returned the next day for breakfast and Sergio was our server. He was very personable (Tartine hires terrific servers). The quiche, as always was very delicious and we had another mocha. Tartine is our "go to" place when we are in town.

But I also think it's important to include that this isn't a basic, regular, run-of-the-mill indulgence. These decadent, house-made gelatos are absolutely delicious, refreshing, and IMHO, priced correctly for the quality of ingredients used, which can be tasted. I was so impressed by the flavor combinations! We were given the option to combine two flavors of gelato in the same cup, which was a fun way to try a couple of options. We tried (and loved!) the Mango Sorbet, the Wild Strawberry Swirl gelatos, along with a Strawberry Kiwi pop. Most of the pops were made with real chunks of fruit, which I loved seeing. The Wild Strawberry Swirl was the crowd favorite. The presentation and the kindness of the staff working the counter were also lovely. In my opinion, the true measure of a business is how it handles things when something goes wrong, and this restaurant handled the situation exactly the way a quality establishment should. Here's what happened: I stopped in briefly to use the restroom and grab one of the spritzers they make here. First off, the spritzer is absolutely delicious -- light, refreshing, and something I highly recommend if you visit. Unfortunately, my interaction with the host was less than stellar. I asked about ordering the spritzer and was told two things: 1. He didn't think they made it. 2. He "didn't have time." That response honestly caught me off guard. A paying customer walks in asking to purchase a product your restaurant does in fact make, and the answer is that you don't have time? Serving guests is literally the core function of hospitality. Thankfully, one of the waitresses, Rachel, who had helped me during a previous visit completely turned the experience around. I asked her for the drink and without hesitation she smiled and said, "Right away!" Within moments she returned with the spritzer in hand. Professional, courteous, and exactly the kind of service that keeps people coming back. I explained the interaction to her and she looked genuinely puzzled. I later mentioned it to the manager, whom I've met before and always found to be approachable, professional, and kind. He was clearly appalled by what happened and handled the situation with sincerity and care. That's exactly why this place continues to earn high marks from me. Problems can happen anywhere. What matters is whether management and experienced staff know how to recover -- and they absolutely did. The seasoned staff and management here understand hospitality. Based on this interaction alone, I honestly think the host may simply be better suited for a non-customer-facing role.

Our server was Chris and he was OUTSTANDING...very attentive and very friendly. Both managers visited our table several time to make sure we were good. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that what I had was just a bit underwhelming. We ordered the braised beef potstickers, california roll, and grilled and chilled shrimp for appetizers. The meat in the potstickers was very mushy. The california roll was decent. The grilled and chilled shrimp were fine. My husband had the filet - ordered medium well, served medium...the twice baked potato was very small and seemed to be overcooked. The other couple ordered the skirt steak and the braised short ribs which they seemed to enjoy. My drink was amazing - the Amalfi Spritz.
