Ice Cream: There's so many flavors but we tried the Mint Mint Chocolate Chocolate Chip and it had brownie and chocolate chunks. Really sweet and good amount of chocolate in it if you are a sweet tooth. Good minty flavor. I'd like to think the flavors here are very strong and sweet. Service: Very straightforward, order at counter and they'll scoop you your ice cream. At the end of the line when you're ready to pay they have a machine on the customer's side where you can do it yourself but it was tap only with the card. We scrambled for a second because one of the cards we had didn't have tap working. Ambiance: Nice little stop for ice cream while strolling around coronado. Came here at the perfect time before they had a little bit of a line. We got right in & I tried out the pink cotton candy ice cream which is just as good as the original blue! Size was a love it mixed with some crushed Oreo cookies. The customer service was fast, easy, & the ladies that worked here are incredibly polite. Kinda dirty.. Pricey..We got a couple one scoops in a bowl; one vanilla and one watermelon sorbet. I took taste tests of pumpkin and watermelon, I went with watermelon and blueberries for toppings. After I got my bowl it seemed to be melting right away, like way too fast. Then I taste it and it just didn't taste the same as the taste test; it tasted like iced sugar, not watermelon. Maybe the guy scooped the bowl and tester spoon from different parts; either way it still should have tasted consistent. It was gross, like frost bitten ice cream. I asked for Sweet Cream with double Heath bar mix in. I started eating it and it was off; the young lady made it with Kit Kat. So I went back up to the counter. The man, who I assume was the manager by the way he was talking to her, stepped in and scooped up a new scoop of Sweet Cream. Great start. He picks up some Heath candy, I reminded him that it was supposed to be double Heath. The look he gave me was indescribable. As if I was trying to cheat him. He looks at the young lady and said,"Did you charge her for that?" Yes, she said. So he grabbed another piece and break it up, on the Baird next to the Sweet Cream he'd scooped, not mixing it in. Next thing I know, he grabs the first ice cream with the Kit Jat in it, and starts to dump the Heath bar crumbs on top of it! I said "Wait! I don't want it in the Kit Kat one, I want it in a clean scoop. NOW I've done it! He throws down the scoop and says, Let me take care of my customers first", and walks away to help someone else! I love Cold Stone and I have a ritual to go at least once a month to this Coronado location, sadly I am considering to change to a different ice cream place because I am very disappointed with the service they provide, bad attitude from the employees, they don't remind you to accumulate your points they don't even seem to want to take your order, always it a bad attitude and never a smile in their faces. I noticed that the pushy people seemed to nudge their way to the glass and get their orders taken before others. Once up to the glass, it is a typical Cold Stone. Ice cream and mix ins. I was a little bit sticker shocked at the prices. We paid almost $6-7 for a two scoop. Not gonna lie, I could go someplace else in San Diego and get better quality and better flavored ice cream...and have a place to sit and enjoy it. I might think twice about stopping back here again. It's a small store so if it's busy, you'll have to wait outside and catch a tan before you can order inside. Not gonna to lie, I've been to better Cold Stone locations. This spot on this day however, did the trick in satisfying my craving on a hot day after a ferry ride. After the friendly staff allowed me to try 3 other flavors (thanks!), I finally decided on old faithful strawberry ice-cream topped with gummy bears (duhhh!). The place looked a bit older and unkempt, which was surprising considering it frequents tourists. The door to the back was open and things looked a bit in disarray back there. It was much cooler outside of the store despite the 89F "heat wave" San Diego was experiencing. Service was quick and the woman who helped us was very nice. A little chaotic trying to get past the group in front of me to place my order so it's a good thing we already knew what we wanted and didn't have to look at flavors inside the case. Floors and overall outside area weren't the cleanest but I watched every step of my cheesecake ice cream with chocolate shavings being made and she had gloves on... took them off when she went to take my payment so I suppose it was okay. Price was expensive compared to Vegas... not sure if that's just California pricing or if it's because it was on Coronado Island?
