Went in for a French tip, in gold color. 3 different people worked in my nails I don't know if that has to do with the imperfections. All my nails have air bubbles this is the second time this happens hear. Uneven texture in my nails. Won't be coming again. Total was $90 dollars please avoid You can clearly see the air bubbles as you are working on a customers nails to leave them like this and charge a customer it is bold of them. read more

As I stated, the overall quality of the nail job was good, however I am speaking about the overall experience. This is what I have to say in response to your hostile response. I'm glad you admit it was a day lacking customer service and admit to at least some fault. However, your lack of professionalism and attacking me after I wrote a review based on MY experience says enough. Also, no one ever communicated there was a spa option, no one. There was hardly any communication whatsoever, let alone about any optional services. Telling me I'm a bad customer, insinuating I lack manners, and that I suddenly decided to change from gel nails to gel-x is FALSE. Stating I inconvenienced you by wanting gel-x is false because when I texted for the appointment, I clearly said I wanted almond nails, I never mentioned gel. I am so happy I found this place. After my longtime nailshop closed down it was a challenge for me to find a good nailshop. The ambiance of the place is very cozy and comfy. The parking was easy and spacious. The place was already crowded even though it was morning so I was overwhelmed at first and got shocked by how many selections of gel colors they have. After playing with their kitty (oh they have such a cutiepie kitty so if you are a kitty lover, DEF DEF try this place) it was my turn and I loved how each tools were sealed and sanitized for individual. They started with my cuticle and they were very gentle with their service. They are all very skillful and dedicated to their work so having a little chit-chat was not happening. And as a person who is introvert and wants relaxing time, i loved that. The price is higher than other franchised nail-shops but as a person who got infected/bleed from those groupon/deal nailshops, nail island is WORTH their price. If you are looking for high-end quality designed nails, this is the place to go. Also, they sell gift cards so I bought five gift cards while i was there for my bride-maids. I had my first service done here as a wonderful birthday gift from a friend - and it was an amazing experience. Firstly - they're SO CLEAN!! The ambience is definitely such a vibe - very well designed and maintained studio - just a pleasure to sit in there. The people who work there are supremely talented and they work very meticulously focusing on every detail. They were very kind and made some great suggestions on what would work well on my nails. The quality of their products are really high end and so are their tools - very modern studio. This place is the only place i trust to get my nails done. Megan and yoojin never disappoint me. Any designs take, they upgrade them with better quality which make my jaw drop every single time. I've been a client for 2+ years now and will never go anywhere else because the quality and precision every time I come out is consistent and excellent. I stick to gel manicures and have had a couple of regular (dry) pedicures before. Megan, Yoojin, Jen and Eunice have all been great. They work together and check each other's work too! They do things a bit differently than your average nail salon, so a few things that I would've found helpful knowing before I went in: - Your gel won't be removed with foil but filing only - They don't use the cuticle cutters but a nice buffing file for your cuticles - You won't get a weird arm/hand massage - They use acetone sparingly - Sometimes filing does hurt if you go short because they file at the right angle, just communicate with them if it does - Your color choices are not limited to what's in a book - It's about $15 more than your average spot, x2 if you're looking to get designs (budget accordingly, lol) - Styles, colors and designs are almost limitless but it'd be good to know what you want going in of course - Re: Appointments, plan ahead at least 2 weeks for appointments, or better yet - schedule your next appointment before you leave and you won't have any scheduling issues. They are a small staff of 2 or 3 at a time, so they book fast. On a rare occasion, I've been lucky where I reach out with shorter notice and they had a cancellation, so I can head over same day. - If you can't find a spot right in front, park at the back or across the street Leaving pics of my manicures over the years. I'm giving them 2 stars because the woman doing my manicure was very gentle and could tell she was trying her hardest. She was very nice. Overall, I would not come here again. I called on a Friday and didn't get an answer. Seen previous reviews asking to text for an appointment. Got a response within an hour saying I could come in at 2pm. I couldn't find the parking lot to the location, as it is located in the back and the entrance through Narbonne Ave appears to be like an alley way, not a parking lot entrance. I received another text at 2:05pm asking if I was there but worded like this "Are you coming?!" to which I replied that I had just found their parking lot. I walked in and there was only one other customer in there, place was small but very neat and organized. They don't have spa chairs and apparently all services are done dry? They use cuticle oil and alcohol spray to moisturize hands/feet. It wasn't horrible but definitely a new experience for me. I asked for a blue gel color to which the woman doing my pedicure showed me a few options and showed me their cat eye blue nail polish sample and I chose that one. This is the nail polish that requires a magnet to set in the tones of glitter. However neither my hands or feet looked like what a cat eye nail polish is supposed to. I know the woman doing my manicure was struggling as she asked the other woman for help with the magnet. I wasn't going to complain, I know what it's like not to be the best skilled at something. However when I was charged I could not believe that's how much I was paying. I was charged $120 for both mani/pedi to end up with something that wasn't even as described. Suggestions to the business: reconsider pricing when the result is not as described or don't suggest something that you can't do and be aware of tone through text. This nail salon changed my nails. I went in after breaking/splitting a nail after a manicure at another shop. The break/split was bad and I couldn't wait to have it fixed. Enter Yelp and Nail Island. I was able to get an appointment the same day I called and went right after work. It's a very clean salon, the aesthetic is very welcoming. Relaxing music, aromatherapy scents wafting through the place. The young lady who greeted and seated me quickly appraised the break/split, "I will be honest. Your nails are very thin and brittle. To fix this, I have to cut them (really) short and do a strengthening treatment." I agreed and she got right to work. 45 minutes later I had short but better nails. They grew out and became stronger. I went back for another manicure and had the same thing done: short and strengthened. Again they grew out (quicker this time) and stronger. It's been 10 months and I'm still coming here. I've never been THIS happy with short nails! Nail Island had me feeling like royalty as 2 people simultaneously attended to my nails. I came in with acrylics on and they patiently removed it for me. They don't just clip out your nails to death or horrendously pick at them like some nail shops do. My nails were properly stripped off from the acrylics by soaking with cotton and wrapped with foil. Also, I LOVED their hot towels and the fact that their tools are disinfected and individually sealed for each customer. My nails were shaped to perfection and cuticles attentively cared for. Megan is the best nail artist/manicurist. I constantly show her images off of Pinterest and she is happy to recreate them for me. (Btw she nails the recreations perfectly) She also has photo books in her waiting area full of her own designs. I thought I couldn't pull off certain colors of nail polish, but Megan finds the right tone, hue, and shade to make my nails look beautiful. I have never had a bad experience here.
