This nail spa…read morehas recently renovated its premises so I thought the quality of their services may have been elevated. Unfortunately, I have experienced a rather revolting situation today. An elderly man came in for a pedicure and sat in a chair one spot away from me. As soon as he took his shoe and socks off, I noticed his fungus nails. They were gray, raised and extremely thick! As his pedicure progressed, his attending technician asked a nearby colleague for an emery board (previously used on the colleague's client) to use on the man's nails. This was shocking to me for sheer hygiene purposes. E-file bits were used on the said gentleman's toe nails with no sterilisation process in place. Likewise, file bits were also seen being taken out of boxes for other surrounding clients. When checking out, I spoke to the female owner discreetly about my disappointment. While I understand, the business cannot discriminate clientele, I would not have felt sick to my stomach to witness this man's badly afflicted toe nails and their hygiene protocol. Said owner said sterilisation of equipment do take place but cutters and tools are all stored in wicker baskets reused on clients. They are not taken out of sterilisers or packs. As for the quality of their service, my manicurist is someone who has taken care of my nails before (I was not chuffed the last time) but I was equally not pleased with her work this time. I had to ask her 3x to trim my cuticles after she had finished the mani. I paid in full for my services but chose not to tip because I did not think the quality of work has improved and professionally this place needs to do better for the future.

And the durability is kind of unreal. I'm hard on my hands for my job and I've never had lifting, chipping, or breaks-- ever. That alone is rare, especially with this level of design. I ended up feeling tense as I sat and eased my feet into warm water. Annie, my nail artist, told me to relax but my body wanted to do the opposite. I think I get tense when my toenails are being cut as if to anticipate pain, but when I felt comfortable with her technique, I started to relax. It was probably the most relaxed I've been all week. Annie was sweet and attentive. She also did a really good job removing my cuticles and massaging my calves. I needed it! It was a great way to end a stressful day at work. I would love to come back!

The foot bath water had lemon, mint and rose petals in it which made it feel luxurious. The owner was incredibly nice and personable. I ultimately had to stop and ask another staff member walking by to help translate. Additionally, pricing was not transparent. The service is listed online as $70 for a gel builder fill, but I was charged $85. When I asked about it, I was told I had already been given a discount, which was confusing and not explained. This technician needs more professionalism and should be spoken to regarding both technique and customer care. Overall, this experience felt rushed and careless, which was very disappointing given how great my first visit was.
