Here's the pro's of this place, it's clean and has a large selection of gel polishes.. Now here's the cons: gel polish does not last. I have had 5 gel manicures done here & every single time the whole gel just comes off of my nails one by one at least a couple days after the manicure. I don't even see it happen. I just happen to look at my nail & see the gel came right on off. I've never had this happen to me before and I have been getting gel manicures continuously for at least the past 5 years. So by 7 days after the manicure at least half of the gel polish's have came off. Also they can not seem to get the timing down. If I have an appointment for a mani & pedi I arrive on time. They will start the pedicure and by the time the pedicure is just about down they finally start the manicure. So an appointment that should have lasted about an hour ends up being at least 2 hours even thought I requested to have my mani & pedi done at the same time. Now I have came in a couple times without an appointment. Both times I asked how long was the wait time. both times the reply was "10 mins" I then asked are you sure of that? The reply "yes she is finishing up". Regardless both times my wait was 30 mins plus. Another thing I don't like about this salon is the overall atmosphere is very cold. The nail techs rarely speak, let alone smile or laugh. I just got an overall vibe of (slave driver) from the owner. She does not turn on the A/C in the summer even though it works so avoid going on hot days. This is my go-to place for manis and/or pedis! My roommate and I discovered this place after our first midterm of pharmacy school, and now we come here every time we finish a particularly stressful week of exams. The girls here are very meticulous, and they never rush any of the services no matter how busy it is. They use very high quality products, and most importantly they are very clean! They autoclave and wrap all of their instruments between uses, and open the sterile packages right in front of you. They offer shellac, which I have never tried, but when I do take the leap it will definitely be here! read more

I've been here a few times and they've been decent experiences. But today Tracey did a full acrylic set on me. Her thumb was bleeding and she didn't do anything about it. She took off her high heels and half wore one of my sandals with her bare foot which I didn't notice till half way through the service. My nails came out looking chunky and uneven. Her entire demeanor was unprofessional, lazy and sloppy. She walked around like she had no purpose or desire of being there and doing this work. Her deep and melancholy sighs sure didn't help. Mother's Day of all days! I am not one to write reviews, good or bad, but this one needed a review. I went in for a mani/pedi with a callus treatment. The gal working on me, scrubbed so hard on the lateral side of my left foot that she scrapped me enough that I even bleed slightly and I was in pain. Ok, human mistake, we're not perfect. I mentioned it to the owner as I didn't want to continue with the manicure thereafter since it would be the same lady working on me. I showed the owner the scrap. She came back and applied Neosporin a band-aid....Ok, Great! Then some chatter occurred between my manicurist and another manicurist in a different language(apparently about my incident) and the owner hushed them up quickly...ok, great again I thought that was the right thing to do and a good businesswoman. However it's what happened when I went to pay. I told the owner the scrapped area still was painful, and I was thinking maybe she could offer me a free pedicure next time I come. Instead she felt compelled to tell me that my manicurist told her that I already had a scar there!....absolutely untrue! And that she'll just deduct $12 for the callus treatment leaving the balance of the pedicure. So here I was left with a wound on my foot, a manicurist that was unwilling to take accountability, no apology from either the manicurist or the owner, and unprofessional procedure by the owner to deliver an untrue story by her employee. I believe in my heart the correct way to proceed was to get an apology at least by the owner, a credit, and to refrain from telling her employees' story, regardless of whether it was true or not. I'm sure the manicurist didn't want to be reprimanded and I get that because most people are incapable of taking accountability but the owner clearly showed her true character and that at the end of the day she was just a businesswoman absent of professionalism. read more

Had a wonderful experience for my first time husband, after years of telling him to join me in doing a pedicure i finally got him to agree. Lucky for him i called in early on Sunday morning and was able to book an appt on the same morning. 10 minute drive & we were there. He got assigned to Mai, being his first time we did the $35 one. He hadn't done this before so there was a lot of cleaning & exfoliating to do. Mai was great at explaining what she was doing & why, which i am sure he appreciated. Like all men (he's 73 yrs young) he was surprised to hear that both men & women have this done. But ; being mature sometimes you just need help getting into those hard to reach nails on your feet. On 12/15/18 I went to nail lounge for powder dip manicure and a pedicure.. the service was overall ok but when I got home and took a good look at my nails I noticed that they were all different lengths. Some where long some where short and the shape was all over the place. Looking back on my experience I remember that they did not give me a full manicure before my powder dip to ensure that all the nails were the same shape. I am not sure why the technician thought it was okay to do this but she did. To add insult to injury all of my nails have popped off. I spent at total of $90.00 in for a powder dip, manicure and pedicure with a tip and I have noting to show for it on my hands. I am highly disappointed and will not be going back to this nail salon. The first few times I came here I really enjoyed the customer service and the manager lady is always kind and very helpful. However, sometimes it looks like no one else knows what they are doing except her, which I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing. I came today to get a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. For some odd reason, my pedicurist used the nail buffer and scraped the shit out of my big toe's cuticles. I was very confused as to why she did it so hard.. they were busy but it is no excuse to rush.. I know she saw it too because she kept trying to wipe away the blood.. but c'mon lady, you have to own up to what you did and apologize! I think it's rude what they did to me and i feel like I should've been accommodated versus being just canceled out entirely ! I was visiting friends in South Pasadena and found myself with a free morning that was *well* spent getting a spa pedi and gel mani at the Nail Lounge. Every part of the experience was clean, relaxing, and thorough - from the pleasant (but not insistent) conversation to the massage to to the nice pillows and blocks they have to prop up your legs and arms to the 80's deep cuts playing on the stereo (Neutron Dance anyone?) to the resulting pretty nails. It's like the employees really care about doing a good job, which is so refreshing. I'm glad I stopped in! read more

Super disappointed with Sharon. The owner. I stopped going to this salon because of the way the owner treats the girls, BUT I truly loved the cleanliness of the salon so I continued to come here. Here are my two experiences: 1) My nail lady was not able to do a gel mani because my nails were so brittle my skin was showing and Sharon the owner literally yelled at my nail lady for downgrading my gel to regular paint for my own good! 2) MY ACRYLIC NAILS WERE TRASH! was there for over 2 hours because they couldn't complete what I was looking for, but nazi owner Sharon made the poor older nail lady agree to something she couldn't do. Then charged me $90 and said "no more complaints?" Sharon truly is a disappointment. Still not over it and it was my sons birthday and there I was; stuck with work I was not happy with. This is always my go-to salon when I'm back home, but recently I've found that their gel manicures aren't always so consistent. Sometimes I'll have a manicure last 2-3 weeks before chipping. But this past visit, it's only been 2 days and the polish is already chipping on one of my nails. On another note, the manicurists are always patient, even though it usually takes me ages to choose a color! They take their time with doing the manicures to make sure the shape and color is how you'd like it, and never make it seem as if they're rushing through. She helped me right away and was very diligent, despite the time constraint. She complied with every request (slightly rounded edges, thin layers of gel, quick job) and it was a success! I am so hesitant to write this review, especially as it seems many people are having a good experience here, and in fact, my "experience" was great - the gel nail job however is the worst i've ever had! I got my hair cut next door at world cuts, trying to just do an inexpensive trim before an occasion, and saw this new nail place and decided to give it a try. On the good side, the staff was friendly, my manicurist was an absolute doll - so sweet, and the place was shiny new and clean, clean, clean. Nice zen atmosphere, good selection of colors, even a little massage chair, complete with masseuse, which of course ii was eyeing enviously as a customer was getting a back massage. I have pretty short nail beds, and had a previous gel manicure at a different salon, which lasted me a few weeks (yay) but i had eventually picked off a good bit of it. I let my manicurist know about it, and asked to get a french instead of the color i had previously, because i'm really hoping to minimize the trips as the cost of the gels are more expensive than the usual regular mani i get. One of my concerns with doing the french gels, was that the grow out might be really visible between the pink and white (since my nail beds are short, they can't really do the whites much lower than my actual nail growth). I asked if we could do a pale pink or some type of color for the french base, to eliminate that concern. She assured me with gels, we would not see any grow out, so i proceeded to leave it to the expert and let her do her thing. What i noticed at the time - she barely cleaned my nails, even though i had mentioned having gels on before and a clear coat...she didn't trim the cuticle area well (i still had those hard little corners on my finger surrounding my nails, and she cut them ultra square even though i explained that i don't like the super square look. I did mention to her that she could push my cuticles down a good bit more since she was so gentle, but she didn't. She did the gel french after adjusting my nail shape a few times because i wasn't happy with it. I did notice that she didn't have me cure as much as my other salon did...but hey, again, i'm not an expert... What happened later...first off, the lines of the french white on many nails were slightly jagged, instead of clean and straight. I had to refile my nails because some of the nails were cut crooked and looked totally out of wack (she never looked at them straight on to evaluate, i expect that is why) and...well, i'm a week in. Haven't done housework, haven't done dishes, nothing out of the ordinary...and my nails are peeling horribly, the gel is extremely thin and flaking all over the place, not just the regrowth area. Basically i have to go get new gels (another 40 bucks, just a week later - i'm MAD. I basically think that this place probably does a good job on basic stuff and perhaps is new to gels. They are spendy (like other places in SPas) so for my buck, i want to be assured i get a good job done...at this point, i won't even go back and ask for a redo because i just don't want to take the chance with their gel practices, though because of the friendly staff and beautiful environment, i probably would give them a shot for a traditional mani pedi or massage... Still, it's just sad. I know gels seem "easy" and in fact, all a salon has to do is buy the gel and the light...but there are techniques that need to be done properly to ensure a good gel manicure, like thoroughly cleaning the nail surface and prepping it correctly. I know my manicurist couldn't have had much gel experience because she was incorrect about how they would grow out (showing the regrowth) so i really hope they do some more training, or perhaps delegate the gel nails to someone with more experience. I've been coming here about 2 months with happy results. Tina was my go to nail tech. However, I noticed the last two visits, after leaving the salon, my gel manicure had not fully set. How can you tell? There's a slight sticky feeling to the nail. I went in yesterday, Fri Feb 14. The gel mani seemed fine until I almost made it home. I stopped at my local grocery store & suddenly I accidentally touched my left thumb & noticed a wet feeling. It was smudged. I called the salon & spoke to the manager/front counter woman. I told her what happened & was curious to know why. I told her I couldn't come back the same day & she suddenly said with an attitude, "what do you want me to do?" - It wasn't what she said that bothered me but the tone she said it in. As much as I would like to give this place more stars because of its cleanliness, tasteful decorations, and nice pedicure spa chairs, I have to give it a 1 star because it was the most painful manicure I've ever had. The lady was rushing so much that she pulled at my cuticles so hard that they BLED. I've had COUNTLESS manicures in the past so I know they can certainly clean up my cuticles without having to inflict pain or bleeding, but this lady was yanking so hard. Two days later my cuticle is still painful and has ugly dried blood to accompany my manicure. I go to salons to relax and get pampered-- not to experience stinging and throbbing that lasted for a good 10+ minutes. And i know my experience isnt an exception because they did the same thing to my sister who went right before me. Bottom line: I would NOT come back here. I had a broken nail and my usual salon was booked for the evening. THE AMBIANCE: This nail salon is located in the Bristol Farms parking lot. It is more on the small side with about five (5) spa pedicure chairs and two (2) manicure stations. The salon is nicely decorated. THE MANICURE: I had my manicure with Alice. She did not talk much to me and instead looked around a lot. I tried to start conversation but it did not go anywhere really. In the end I just kept quiet. I had a broken thumb nail and Alice placed a thin bandage type material on top and what I believe was a kind of super-nail-glue. It stung bad!!! So be prepared. She then applied a hardening powder and ta-da! my nail was fixed. $5 to fix a broken nail. The manicure was a general manicure with the minute lotion hand and arm massage. It might just be me but when the cuticles are snipped away and then the manicurist rubs the dead skin on a dark colored towel it grosses me out. I have realized I like white towels ... The salon had dark purple towels and the sight made me gag internally. When Alice painted my nails she took off the excess paint on my skin with her nail. She did not use a detailing brush with acetone at the end. My manicure came out well and I was escorted to the "drying station" (a sit-down with a mini roof fan). Total: $20.00 Another thing I noted is that the manicure table is really small. Our knees were basically touching when we sat down and it felt uncomfortable because I felt like I didn't have enough room. THE TIPS: I did not have a hard time finding parking in the parking lot. I arrived around 6:20 p.m. on a Wednesday (yesterday). Overall, I would come here for emergency reasons only and opt to stay at my usual nail salon. read more

I came in for a quick mani-pedi yesterday afternoon and after my experience, I knew it was about time to write the Nail Lounge a much deserved, solid review. I frequent this place at least once a month for a lunch time mani-pedi and every time I go in I am impressed with the following: - Friendly and Accommodating Service - Cleanliness and Interior Design - Quality of the mani-pedi - Additional services included with their basic mani pedi (hot rock massage and exfoliating scrub for pedicure, hand massage for manicure) This particular time I came in I was a bit rushed and had just ordered my bento box from next door. I wasn't sure if I should wait for my food or get started on the mani-pedi. My dream team - Sunny and Alice - solved the problem immediately. They asked the owner (I forgot her name, but gorgeous Korean woman) if she could run next door to get my bento box. She brought my lunch delivery over right away and they let me munch on it while they ran my credit card - SO NICE! They even brought me a little bottle of water and paper towel so I could eat my lunch in the chair while my toes were drying. I mean, THAT is service people! Also, had a fantastic conversation with Sunny, Alice and the owner about the best Korean food spots in L.A.. Although they each said their own home cooking was best (go figure) they conceded that Soowon Galbi Korean BBQ off Vermont Ave in K-town was pretty good (did I get that right ladies?).
