I've experimented with many different nail salons in this area and Nail One is the only place that 1) has a long lasting gel manicure 2) genuinely cares about the health of your nails & doesn't ever rush through a manicure 3) is convenient for walk-ins My gel manicure lasted 3 WEEKS even though I naturally have brittle nails! I can tell that they use higher-quality products - it's so much more worth it to pay a little more here for a better quality/long lasting manicure. Their manicure process is very unique with many different steps, including an application of fresh aloe vera to prevent dry/cracked cuticles. You even get a massage during your manicure - it's a wonderful experience! I have been going to Nail One ever since it was recommended by one of my friends over two years ago and I have never had a bad manicure or pedicure, which is something to be said for a nail salon. Joanne, the owner, is incredibly kind and goes out of her way to make sure that every customer leaves happy. She constantly surprises me with details of conversations we had months ago while I was getting my nails done and follows up to see how things are going. And it's not just me. She strives to connect with every customer on a personal level. Rosa and Helen, who have both done my nails, are also fantastic. They are extremely detailed oriented and incredibly sweet. The salon is very clean and they always try to color match you if for example you are getting a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. I normally don't go to nail salons that often but this was the best nail salon I've been to BY FAR! Once i came in, the owner was very nice as well as the other staff members. Very understanding of what I wanted and considerate of how I wanted it to be done. I asked for a 'marshmellow' color that goes well with my skin tone and immediately the owner pulled out the perfect color for me. I was also impressed how fast and efficient they were! The overall experience at the salon was good. The technician was very detail oriented and was making sure my nails looked good. However, I don't think the pedicures are very sanitary, they barely clean the tub and do not use plastic coverings like other salons. I watched them clean the callus removal file with just water, they barely scrubbed the tub after my pedicure was done. My manicure was good however it has bubbles and some warping I believe from the UV lamp. Lastly, I left my phone at the salon by accident and when I went back, they requested more money for tip saying I did not tip enough. This place is a little pricey ($15 for regular mani) but I can see why. They definitely put more effort into customer service, and the you can tell there was careful thought put into the design and decor of the place. It's a small space, but there were only two of us in there on a Saturday. One thing that was pretty cool is that my manicurist-Rosa-took an actual piece of aloe vera plant and rubbed the plant juice directly on my hands. Apparently this is also what they do for eyebrow waxing. There were only three women working there-wonder what happens if they get busy! Honestly this is the best nail salon in the city. I walked 20 minutes out of my way just to go here and it was so worth it. The spa pedicure incredible by Rosa who took so much time and care. Joanne, the owner and her sister might be the two sweetest kindest people on Earth. They take the time to ask your name, treat you like family, and even gave me a hug goodbye. This will be a strange sort of review but hear me out .....I needed a nail salon near my office and after reading numerous reviews settled on Nail One. I was greeted by Joanne who was extremely pleasant and indicated she would do my powder gel manicure. After selecting a color she begins by soaking off the old polish which took a bit of time but that wasn't too much of an issue. I regularly get powder gel manicures from my normal place but open to different techniques. Long story short after she finished the first hand I was extremely unhappy with the way it was looking--clumpy, thick and totally unlike anything I had before. I had already been in the salon for quite awhile but I couldn't continue with the process. To my surprise Joanne was very understanding and without an attitude began the tedious process of removing the powder gel which took at least another 20 minutes. After a long week I simply wanted to get my nails done and get home for a nice evening with my husband. I picked up that Joanne is very focused on making her customers happy and wanted to try and make up for my inconvenience and lessen my displeasure. She recruited a colleague to work on my other hand to help and in the end my nails were buffed and painted with protein. My nails were now clean, looking good and much better than when I arrived despite the extended time. What happened next I didn't expect.....I was prepared to pay for something even though I assumed it wouldn't be the full amount of a powder gel manicure. Joanne indicated that because I didn't have a good experience I didn't have to pay. I told her I had to pay something if at least for her time and she refused. While underneath the dryer I tried again to give her something/anything and she still refused profusely apologizing and asking that I come back and try a pedicure. Surprisingly enough I may try Nail One again because of their incredible customer focus and customer service. Normally this rating would be one or two stars max but because of the way Joanne handled the situation I want to honor her commitment to her customers. read more

Staff are accommodating, very friendly & professional. Once I told the owner the kind of look I was going for, she knew which gel colors would best match it. Mina did an amazing job with my manicure. She helped pick the polish color and made sure that the color was nice and even. My technician was Rosa and she is quite possibly the rudest and most incompetent person I have crossed paths with. After messing up both my manicure and pedicure and throwing a tantrum when I pointed out that she was painting my nails like a blind cat, she had the audacity to guilt me into giving her a better tip. I've been on the hunt for a salon in this area and I finally found one! I was walking by on a Friday afternoon and decided to pop in for a pedicure. Joanne quickly accommodated me. The place is very clean and nicely decorated compared to the options in the area. They also have soooo many colors to choose from. I ended up getting a manicure as well. For the past couple of months, I have been trying new nail places within a two block radius from me. I remember them re-opening the salon a few months back. So, I decided to drop in recently. I walked in an asked for a gel mani and pedi. The lady automatically blurted $65.00 (I assume for both), whatever, I have paid more or less. I just wanted to try the place. But, I know why she decided to tell me before sitting me down or even asking me what color I wanted as I don't fit their customer prototype. I watched people aka "tourist" walk in asking for services, and no prices were mentioned. Overall the services where decent. I had basic services but the stand outs were the scrub and the aloe gel from a cactus is one of a kind. However, I did walk out paying $120 plus tip which amounted to close to $150, including a 10 minute should massage. Again, not a big deal, but I am not at a 5-star location, 3.5 tops. This is basic location on a semi main avenue with some unique features. I have been to some of the top spas in Manhattan with amazing services that did not amount to this. If I am going to pay for $150 for just one color gel mani, pedi,(no design) with a 10 min massage, I better have more than what was offered, other than that, it is a great place to rip off tourists because their main traffic comes from foot traffic, I assume. Don't be fooled by this small nail salon. I found it from the reviews on yelp and I'm glad I did. I got a spa pedicure which proved to be one of the better pedicures I have had. Most of the time the callus remover is not worth the extra money. In this case my feet are soft and callus free. It was a great experience. The sisters that run the salon are friendly and personable. Stepped into this salon unexpectedly and was blown away! This is the best gel manicure and pedicure I've received in the 2.5 years I've lived in NYC. I've been to many different salons and am usually disappointed. How lucky to be greeted by such a lovely owner Joanne who was helpful and patient while I decided which polish to select. I was convinced to try a new pedicure type - crystal gel. Wow what a treat! It was a strange feeling at first to put my feet in the squishy goo but shortly it felt like a nice blanket on my feet. They arrived so soft. Helen was so amazing and gentle. She took her time but was not slow. I was very pleased. Carmen then performed my gel manicure. She also took her time to file and trim my cuticles with care. The shape came out so lovely. She suggested a different style to my polish and it turned out amazing! What a great place! I rarely give reviews but the ladies at Nail One did such a great job and were so warm and welcoming I had to speak up. I got a pedicure and a 10-min massage - both could not have been better. I have ingrowns on my big toes - Jaycee did a really great job to clean them up. I appreciated that she paid attention to the skin and didn't cut the nail on the side, which is how it should be done! The place was very clean and organized and the pedi chairs were wonderful.
