I came here a few days ago for a pedicure after work. The salon was clean and everyone was pretty nice. I was offered coffee or tea which I accepted and thought was a nice extra to offer. I thought it was strange that what looked like a big plastic shower cap was placed over the basin of the chair as a liner which prevented the water jets from operating. There went my spa experience! I still had to pay the extra price for a spa pedi. My biggest issue came with the pedicure itself. The tech cut my feet in two places which resulted in Pain and swelling in one of my toes that still hasn't gone away. The paint job was also sloppy and doesn't look very good. I wish the pedi had been better and my feet not cut up because I would have been a repeat customer. read more

Occasionally I like trying different salons. I found this spot on Instagram and the pictures of the salon/quality of nails looked amazing! I was really excited so I dragged my friend all the way out to Glendale just to check it out. When you walk in the salon looks really adorable. Very ikea-ish, cute, girly. I chose my color and showed the lady a picture of the design I wanted. I had my previous gel on and typically what nail salons do is soak a cotton balls in acetone, place the cotton ball directly over the nail and then individual cover it with foil. I have eczema on only one of my fingers (I know a bit strange..lol) so when they cover my fingers I make sure that one finger isn't completely saturated in acetone. Long story short the lady brings out a bowl with clear liquid and told me to dip both my fingers in the bowl. At first I thought it was water but then my fingers started to BURN. Holy shit, literally 2/3 of all ten of my fingers were covered in acetone. Every time I tried to lift my fingers up, the lady would sternly tell me to put my fingers back in the bowl. I honestly don't know if the foil method makes your gel come off quicker but I swear this process took a lot longer. On top of that my cuticles were raw, painful, and she cut almost all my fingers (pictures to prove). And she did a horrible job on the design which I paid extra money for. I would have to say this spot is one of my worst nail experiences and I could've gone to a not so "fancy" looking salon and would've had a much better experience. I wish I could write a more detailed review, but unfortunately, I couldnt sit there long enough to actually get my nails done. For one, the place wreaks of acetone. I dont blame them as much as I do the poor circulation of clean air from both doors. After having walked from the back door to the entrance, passing by numerous nail technicians, waiting over 2 minutes with utter silence on both ends, I finally had to speak out. "Is there anybody here who can help me?" is what I said before a technician with a sour look on her face looked up from her station and said "what do you need?" As a business owner, that does NOT fly with me and I hope it doesnt with the employer at Nail Polish. Someone who looked like they were of higher ranking asked what I needed and to wait for 10 minutes. Not that I needed her to jump through hoops or spin a baton on fire for me, but a simple smile would suffice. I decided to wait outside due to the smell and lack of positive energy. Soon, I realized there are hundreds of nail salons within a 10 mile radius that would seem more appreciative of paying customers and an energy ball, like myself, walking through the doors. I left and did just that. They do get two stars instead of one, though, because of the decent job they did with their branding and interior design, that does set them apart from other local spots. My nails were done sloppy there was nail polish all over my cuticles in which I asked her numerous times to clean it off before it dried (gels) she not only cut one finger but 2 due to her cutting way to much cuticles!!! Nailpolish could easily be the best nailspa in all of Glendale. I have been going here since it opened almost 3 years ago and really couldnt be happier. I absolutely love the fact that they carry so many OPI and ESSIE colors. All the new collections always available which is great because not too many places have them. The number one thing that brings me back is the cleanliness of the salon. Yes, sometimes they get busy and you have to wait but thats a given anywhere that is worth going. All the nail technicians are great but i have 3 favorites --- Cindy, Rachael and Jenny. Another perk about this place is the fabulous facials by Anna that you can get. I had the same woman who had done my pedi before and was ok but she was SO BAD with gels. I was even like, do you really know how to do gels???? Went there as a walk in and needed a fill and pedicure. It was the worst manicure ever and shaping. I asked for almond shape and got square... The manicurist cut my cuticles and proceeded to add alcohol to it. I kept bleeding and they gave me Vaseline and a bandaid. It took her 5 minutes to find it. She didn't even think of giving me a discount because of my injuries. Although they were polite, I cannot go back. The price isn't worth the experience. I really want to give this place more stars... really. Lyn does a great job on my nails every time I go - so she'd justify a 5 star rating. The problem comes in with the rest of the staff and scheduling problems. Every time I have booked an appointment, I end up waiting 20 minutes. The owner/manager seems oblivious to this. You're better off just showing up without an appointment and hoping Lyn is free. Her daughter (can't recall the name) is good as well. As for the remainder of the staff - I wouldn't bother. A few of the women seem to lack experience, and clearly are not as up to date on appropriate techniques for gels as Lyn. I had a particularly horrid experience trying to get a gel fixed while getting a pedicure done. Pedis are also good with Lyn (as well as her daugther). Often, the pedis seem to last longer then the fills on the gels. They take credit cards (including for tips), but there is a $1 fee. Pricing is on the upper range for LA, but not totally unreasonable. The vibe in the place varies - dead silent on a Sunday afternoon (no music, nothing), TV blaring, techno blaring, reasonably good music played a reasonable level, obnoxious patrons with toddlers running around, cranky staff getting texts every few second (with their alerts on max volume). Overall, Lyn does great work, and is worth seeing. But be prepared to put up with a lot of BS to get it done. The owner/manager needs to work on her customer service skills, and they need to know than an appointment means something more than "I'll come in at that time and hopefully you're available." read more

If you want a gloppy (seriously so) manicure in an uncomfortable chair in a dirty salon where the manicurist completely forgets to give you any sort of massage which is supposed to be included - and then massages your arms and hands while your nails are wet, messes up the wet nails in the process (of course) while telling you all the personal problems she has which caused her to forget to massage you - and only after you point out that she forgot (not relaxing and hands are very dry due to lots of alcohol and no lotion) and you can have all this for the low price of $15. I have been coming to this place since they opened since my favorite tech from another shop went to work there. After today, I will never return. I made an appointment on the phone for today at 11 AM. When I arrived at Nail Polish, it was closed and dark. I called their number and the woman who scheduled me for Friday told me they were closed for Chinese New Year and that my appointment was for Saturday. Such a cute and calm environment! Parking was quick and easy (that's an advantage since it is in down town Glendale). So supperrrrr clean. I had an appt for a facial,wax, and M|P, I'm always on the go and time is a problem for me, however, Lilly the owner nicely greeted me and the receptionist, I believe her name was Maggie, automatically asked me if I'd like something to drink . They got me started right away! I HATE waiting since I am always on the go! The facial was done by a women named Anna. Can I tell you that it was one of the most relaxing facials I have ever relieved? I am lucky to have found her. Her hands were so gentle as she cleaned my entire pores very carefully! I love NAILPOLISH! The owner is super sweet and so helpful! I am always offered refreshments when I walk in. I have my regular technicians that I see on a weekly basis. The salon has a very large selection of both OPI and Essie nailpolish, and they have several options for gel as well. Nailpolish is very clean, and has pretty decor, which makes it a perfect venue to host a mani/pedi session for a bridal party. I will definitely recommend this place if you want a pleasant experience. The only thing I would advise anyone is to call ahead of time and make an appointment.
