Solid nail salon and best yet that I have been to in the area. I believe I had Kevin and he did a really great job on my pedi and gel manicure. He was great to talk with and was genuinely interested to what I had to say. I had made an appointment and they took me right on time which was a pleasant surprise given I have waited 10,15, and even 30 minutes at a few other nail salons in the area. Forge is right next door which is a great option to hang out and get a coffee in case you are a walk in and have to wait. Everything is very clean and sterilized. If you live in Somerville- go here! They have a parking lot right outside and will save you the headache of driving through Davis. read more

Being new to the area, I was in search of a new nail salon that was clean and professional. This salon is both of those. I came in for a pedicure on a Saturday morning and was in a chair right away. I love the massage chairs they offer! All pedicure tubs use a plastic covering to keep them clean for each use. My nail technician took her time with a thorough pedicure and relaxing massage. Prices are comparable to other salons in the area, $26 for a spa pedicure. I would visit again 100%. read more

This is a new place, very friendly atmosphere, nice calming music all the time, the massaging chairs are THE best I have experienced. First of all I wanna tell you how I found this place - (I had a mani-pedi appointment at this other place -Hollywood nails in Somerville, who said they cannot do my nails as they were busy, even though I had an appointment!!!!! Total disappointment) Anyway, so I looked other nail salons in the area and I called Nail Spa Excel, and asked them if they are not busy and can do my nails that moment. They happily said 'yes ofcourse please come in'! My padi was done by Helen and mani was done by Nancy. They both were nice, but Helen was the best. She was SO friendly and attentive. She kept checking if I was happy with my toe nails. Very Friendly and Nice atmosphere. I wished my mani wasn't done in a rush though. Nancy did my mani in less than 10 mins while standing, while my padi was going on. But she did a good job. However, my padi was excellent. I am definitely going back to Helen. My go-to in Somerville for powder dip! Kevin and pals do a great job and pay attention to special requests. Sometimes I get talked into a pedicure and I'm never mad about it :) Their pedicure chairs are comfy and they take the time to massage and exfoliate your calves. A special treat well worth it. I got a regular pedicure and a gel manicure here yesterday and absolutely loved it. They just opened in the spring, so everything is brand new. The massage chairs were wonderful! And they had all of the best trashy magazines that you want when you're getting a pedicure. If she's free, ask for Nancy. She spent a ton of time on my nails and they look amazing. I got acrylic nails done here by a lady who works here a few times. It seems as though she is the only one who does acrylics there... They were FABULOUS, and not bulky! I imagine fake nails are not super popular in Somerville lol, but they can do it and do it well for a very good price. I've moved away from somerville and I wish I could take her with me to do my nails. read more

I got a great manicure, with delightful service. My nails were shaped perfectly, polish was even and meticulously applied and my manicurist was incredibly pleasant. Also, at only $13 one can also afford to grab a latte next door at Forge. Important to note that you will need cash for tip as it can't be added to your card. Kevin was absolutely amazing!! It was my first time coming here and wanted to see what this place was about because it had tons of good reviews. I got there 30 min before they even opened. I looked at time wrong on their website but they opened their doors and helped me right away. That's awesome customer service!! This place has won me over as customer for life! This salon is i'm far from my house and I was excited to go and try this place for the first time because I've seen nothing but good reviews on them. I sent this video to my sister-in-law who wanted to try this place. I made an appointment and ended up having to wait an hour when I got there to be seen. She said 28 for the acrylics and 10 for the shape I wanted so I paid 38 which I thought was a good price. She rushed and it took here 30 minutes to do my nails when usually there for about and hour. I had a really bad experience there and will not be going back. The video I attached explains and shows how horrible this is. Meh. I got a pedicure and it was fine but nothing special. I paid extra for the spa pedicure and it's unclear what it got me other than some warm stones rubbed on my feet for a few minutes. The whole thing felt rushed and like the technician wasn't really paying attention. I left with skin still peeling around my nails. I expected much more based on the other reviews here. read more

This place is wonderful, super clean and well decorated. I went in today a half hour before closing and Lynn did a beautiful set of acrylics for me. She took her time and we talked a bit. Came across this place when I moved into the neighborhood and glad I did! Very reasonably priced, awesome massage chair while getting a pedicure, and long lasting manicures. I've come here pleanty of times, but now I don't think I'll be back anymore. I walked in and no one was in the salon at around noon I look at the technician and I ask did everyone call out today? Because it did snow and there was ice everywhere her response was no everybody went to pick up kids from school. Im like oh ok that was the only conversation we had. The rest she was complaining in her language and I normally don't care when I go to a nail salon and they speak in another language but she was complaining herself about the short staff and yelling at the other tech that was there. She rushed to do my mani pedi because the phone wouldn't stop ringing and people kept walking in and it was just the two of them. While she was doing my pedi she went to get the hot towel and didn't even air it out my legs felt like they were burning. For the manicure she didn't ask me what I wanted she just did whatever she felt like doing didn't ask for shape or if I wanted it shorter. This place is a mess. Bye spa excel! I went here after reading all the great reviews only to be disappointed. My cuticles were destroyed and cut up due to the manicurist not paying enough attention and doing them in a rush while chatting with someone else. The skin next to my nails is cut up and peeling. In addition, she had me put my nails under the UV light and totally forgot about me. I had high expectations but didn't even get an average experience. read more
