This nail place should not be in existence. It was money down the drain. I spent 40 dollars for a gel manicure plus tips on a Thursday, and by the afternoon, the polish started to chip. I have never had that experience before, and I'm shocked that people had positive things to say about this place. Horrible!!! Actual 0 stars

If I could give a -1 star rating, I would. I've gone here many times over the past two years, pre and during covid. I always go to Mary, but this time I came on a whim and she was already helping another client. I asked for a gel pedicure and received the older man as my technician (didn't get his name). He initially did such a good job with my pedicure that I decided to give him a try on my hands. BIG MISTAKE. I asked for a soak off/removal and new gel set. I wanted long black stilettos and currently had much shorter tips on. Upon him inspecting my hands/acrylic nails, he says, "You don't need a new set, just a fill in and I can make pointy shape you like". I asked him if he could definitely make the nails longer, he said, "no problem". He starts to file and shape my old set. I tell him that it wasn't pointed/sharp or even long enough to my liking (see photo) and he goes, "Oh okay, I'll give you new set". (Which I originally asked for). He then proceeds to cut my nails and try to use a tool to lift the acrylic off instead of soaking them. I tell him after wincing and gasping 3xs, "you're hurting me/my nail", so he tries a different tool. The 2nd tool didnt work, so he THEN tried to use a new tip to lift the old nail. INSTEAD OF SOAKING MY NAILS. I see my pinky nail crack right down the middle immediately (I have brittle nails, which I already was aware of). I asked him to stop, informed him he cracked my nail. He responded "its not cracked, we'll soak off". I asked for the "manager"(didn't get a name), tell her what happened and showed her my nail. She talks to the old man in his native tongue and he starts to soak my nails; after the third round of soaking/filing, he looked at my damaged pinky, looks me in my face and says, "This was already cracked/damaged". I lost it, the manager came back over to apologize again. At that point I was done, I paid for my pedicure and left. It was the worst service I've ever experienced there and i dont think ill be back anytime soon. I just checked the rest of my nails again, my left middle nail is cracked and cut past the new nail growth as well. I headed home in tears to fix the damage he's done. NEVER HAVE THAT MAN TOUCH YOUR NAILS. I don't understand how we are paying for service/what we want and the "professionals" won't listen. I work in the service industry and normally give more leeway than the usual customers, but this time was way to much

I've been going to Nail Spa for a few months now and I'm very impressed with Mary. She doesn't rush her work . Mary pays attention to the minir details, all while working in a timely fashion . They practice social distancing at Nail Spa. They do temperature checks and they also provide hand sanitizer. I recommend this nail salon, as well as, Mary for your Nail salon services.

Job well done my nail tech MiMi was great. Given I was a bit traumatized after my last nail visit at Fantasy Nails in Silver Spring. I decided to give another salon a go. Glad I did. Mimi saw that my nails were in bad condition and performed magic! I will go back. I didnt give 5 stars because the overall appearance and atmosphere of the nail salon could be updated. Other then that they are all good...so far!!!

I was pretty anxious to come here due to the other reviews but all of the nail shops that are near my home have about the same type of reviews so I figured I'd give this place a try. The interior could be updated at some point, but other than that, they are clean and they open new packs of tools for every client. If you don't see them do this, you can always ask. They cover the pedicure tubs with plastic, which should be the standard in every salon now. My technician was Vicky and she was really nice and gentle with me. I got the SNS powder gel and a classic pedicure. She dipped my nails into all of the powder but next time I will ask for them to sprinkle it on with a brush or put it in a separate jar. I didn't know this was a sanitary issue before I went. My only actual complaint is that I wish the gel could have been slightly thinner. She could have buffed just a little more. But other than that the experience was just fine. I will probably go back when my gel grows out and go back to Vicky to soak them off. Go in morning to mid day on a week day (except Friday) if you can, especially if you're doing a walk in. Going in at a busy time to any salon, they'll just rush and you won't be happy. Overall I like this place. I will be going back.

I took my daughter to this salon to get her nails done for prom. The manicure itself turned out looking fine, but while the technician was trimming her cuticles (with a high powered file), he made her cuticles bleed on three separate fingers. She asked for a gel manicure, but the nail tech put on nail tips, and then acrylic over that, and then gel on top of the acrylic. She asked a few times if he was putting acrylic on her natural nails and he assured her that he wasn't, even though he was clearly dipping his brush in the powder and putting it on her nails. It's a day later and a piece of the gel manicure on the thumb has already chipped. Her cuticles don't look healthy, and they are red. I wouldn't come back here.

Literally so bad, these cost $55 and they look awful. This is "almond" shaped. The nail goes all the way up past my cuticle like it's on my skin they're so large and thick and over buffed in certain spots so the color is uneven and it looks cloudy and weird and there's a bunch of bumps and air bubbles. This is the first time in my entire life I have ever not given a tips.

I came here after work because I didn't like the way they did my nails at Rose Nails in Lanham, and normally I would pay $25 for a gel fill set but they charged me $35. Ms. Vicky did my nails and she did a good job. Can't complain. I'm just used to more luster. The polish around my cuticles are inconsistent, but I like how she shaped and molded my nails. She takes her time with the molding of the acrylic. She didn't rush me to pick a color like some of these other places do. I may go back again in the near future. But going into the salon its small and the space is tight. They have been there since the 90's. I'm surprised they are opened Sundays. It looks like it can get filled pretty quick because of the small space. For $35 I want a few more amenities.

the man was very rude they did my nails super ugly I'm never going here he'll no

Look at the middle finger?! And she charged for LENGTH. WHAT?!

Five years and counting! This place is my go to for a reason. Friendly service, beautiful results…read moreevery single time, and a team that genuinely cares. Couldn't recommend it more.

Y'all... I thought I had found my new nail shop at The Nail Shop…read more The environment is exactly my vibe--muted gray tones, minimalist decor, subway tiles, modern finishes, soft music playing in the background, and plenty of parking right out front. The place is clean, relaxing, and has an impressive selection of colors. The massage chairs were so comfortable I was literally drifting off to sleep. The prices were also cheaper than other salons I've visited for the exact same services, and it wasn't overcrowded. Walking in, I was ready to give this place 5 stars. Then the service happened. I arrived at 12:30 PM and didn't leave until 4:30 PM. FOUR HOURS. For a pedicure, nail removal, full-set of new Gel-X nails (no designs and nothing fancy). I understand Gel-X removal can take some time, but my pedicure alone should not have taken over 2.5 hours. The first technician was fine until it came time to paint my toenails. The polish application was honestly terrible. My toes looked like little stubs. Of course I spoke up, and thankfully I requested Pin, who had excellent Yelp reviews. She ended up fixing the work and did a much better job. There were also some organizational issues. I wanted my eyebrows waxed, but apparently someone forgot to plug in the wax machine, so the wax was still cold and hardened. How does that happen? Another thing: if you're going to keep clients for four hours, please offer something. Water, snacks, crackers--anything! I was absolutely hangry by the end of my appointment. The only reason I was finally offered water was because I was coughing from a cold, and that was toward the very end of my service. Overall, the salon itself is beautiful and relaxing, but the actual service experience didn't match the aesthetic. If you decide to visit, I'd strongly recommend booking with Pin or the owner. They seem to be the ones ensuring the work is done correctly. Would I come back? Maybe. The potential is definitely there, but they need to tighten up the service side of things.

The male nail tech seems disgruntled and is low vibrational. The last 3 times he did my nails they either chipped, smudged or 1 nail completed fell off. It's a shame because he has potential to be an excellent nail tech if he can put his ego to the side and learn how to serve his clients. After giving me a new nail set at my last fill in appointment he told me my next appointment will be a new set: I told him no way. They seem to view their clients as walking ATMs--it's an uncomfortable feeling: They constantly badger you to do new sets, gel mani-pedis or expensive "spa" pedicures even after you've told them specifically the kind of services you want/prefer--it's more "them" focused than client focused. Btw,I was never thanked for my $20-$25 tips --ever. This last appointment took the cake--nail tech dude nicked my skin with his super sharp nail tool and blamed MY skin for "growing too close to the nail". This happened after leaving me under the fan for 15 minutes while he enjoyed a phone conversation right in front of me--so I knew it was because he wasn't paying attention--he seems resentful of his customers and unhappy to do this kind of work. When I arrived for my appointment (no such thing really because they treat everyone as a walk-in) he and a young girl didn't move to seat me, I had to ask them if they were working today in order to mobilize them--mind you I was the only customer. That said, I won't be back. I'm big on customer service and positive energy and I pay well for it, but it's not to be found there.

Good pics on Yelp, poor communication and treatment/ hospitality…read more. I called to schedule an appointment to ensure they had time for me and they answered yes. I walked in, was rushed to pick a color instead of greeted. Said I could grab some water, which was nice. The mumbling in Viet started as soon as I sat down, could really make you feel out of place. (Just because someone doesn't know the language doesn't mean they don't hear the tone and can pick up on context.) Cut me twice, apologized, and a couple other hiccups that I won't bother to mention. She lightened up throughout time, but I may have to give it a second thought before going again.. I still tipped well because the actual nails came out good. (My total ~$96.00)Not to my like, as she was not easy to tell what I wanted done. Lady came in right to the end of my service with an appointment, and needed to get acetone removed from her hands that lady doing my nails had wrapped in foil and said, "excuse me- can you--" (I'm sure her hands were either hurting or were uncomfortable), and lady doing my nails interrupted her loudly in front of the whole salon, to say she's almost done with me. I felt terrible for her since she had an appointment on top of that. The fact that there's a lot of competitors for you (Nova nails) should push you to improve in timing and care with how you talk to clients and be careful about what you say you can and can not do for a service. I'm still looking for a place that is both well at communicating with clients, and has the skill set for an awesome set. Please remember to treat people kindly. How you make someone feel is really important.

It shouldn't be this hard to get, and keep my nails done…read more Most of the nail technicians in here are (artistically) talented, however it's SO HARD to make an appointment. I have shared my concerns with the owner and asked her to implement an online scheduling system. She expressed reservations due to the fact that customers may not know what they want, booking one service online and then coming in expecting another. It's a shame to have such a valuable and sought-after product, but simultaneously making it so difficult for customers to get their hands on that product. Booking an appointment has become somewhat of a guessing game. I give them a date and a time of my desired appointment. They tell me that my preferred nail tech is not available, but NEVER say UNTIL WHEN. So I throw out another date. Same thing: Not available. On and on it goes. Instead of providing me with options (namely, telling me the next available date for my preferred nail tech, or other nail techs who have availability at that same day and time), they repeat what they don't have available, or ask me to blindly pick another nail tech that I've never worked with (I don't even know their names because I've never worked with them, so how can I be expected to pick them?). So I'm expected to be both psychic and memorize the roster of the staff here... Just to get an appointment?! In order to book appointments I had to call multiple times over multiple days until someone was able to give me enough information to book an appointment, reach out to the owner on Instagram, and even drive all the way to the nail salon.... JUST TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I tried to make an appointment prior to the holidays before everything got booked up. Myself and another customer stood in line for at least 20 minutes in a practically empty nail salon while the owner's mother did someone's nails before she finally addressed us. Even then, she only handed us a register paper and told us to write down what services we wanted and when we wanted to come in, telling us that someone would call us to confirm (which never happened, by the way). We could have saved a lot of time if she had just asked us to do that and leave the paper on the counter while she finished her customer. After waiting 3 days, I finally called the salon and was told that they did not have my appointment request. Not surprising, given that it was scribbled on a piece of receipt paper that was given to me. Somebody probably threw away thinking that it was trash without following up. I tried to book my next two appointments to avoid this headache and was told that in order to book an appointment with my preferred nail tech, I now have to follow her on social media and DM her to try to book an appointment with her there. REALLY?! Instead of scraps of paper, or having to stalk somebody on Instagram, why not keep an old school appointment book, or even one online? It's really not that hard. These nail techs are also not great with time management. Many of my appointments have had to be rescheduled... For the middle of my work day. (Thank goodness for remote work) One of the (now former) nail techs completely forgot about my appointment and passed me off to somebody else without even acknowledging me or her oversight. Another nail tech pressured me into making an appointment earlier than I wanted, only for her to show up 45 minutes after the appointed time. No phone call, no update, no communication whatsoever. Just me sitting there wondering if this was another canceled appointment that they forgot to communicate to me. I say "another" because I had an appointment with the same technician that she canceled, but the salon did not leave me a message to let me know. The only way I found out is because I wanted to add something onto my existing appointment and when I called the salon, I was told that I no longer had an appointment because that person decided not to work that day. In addition to horrendous time management and the hoops you have to jump through to get an appointment, the nail retention is also poor... And ultimately that's why I chose to get my services done elsewhere. Like I said, artistically some of these nail techs do a good job, but in terms of actual quality of work... Not so much. I tried to make it work, because finding a new nail salon can be a pain. However, I started experiencing substantial lifting of my nails after practically every appointment. At one point, I even developed nail fungus under my acrylic, which one of the nail techs ignored completely and just covered with acrylic, and another who tried to tell me "That's not nail fungus, it's bacteria". Whatever it is, it's not supposed to be under my nails... And it wouldn't be if the work was done correctly. Aesthetically, this is one of the nicer looking nail salons in the area, but looks are deceiving. This salon presents a lot of challenges from a booking, customer service, and quality of work perspective.

Update: Tiffany, one of the managers, was super kind and gave me a call after my initial manicure…read more She offered a partial refund, which I was happy to accept as opposed to a full refund, as the work was still done and the resulting nails were fine. She also worked with another manager at the store and was able to set up my next appointment with a specific tech - I believe it was Emily. Tiffany was very communicative via both text and DM on there Instagram account, which I used to schedule my next appointment. She was also there when I arrived for that appointment to ensure things went smoothly. Emily was very attentive during my service, and ultimately I was happy with this set. I did SNS and Emily finished with a gel top coat. Since I prefer to not have gel that is cured by UV, I may not return regularly. However, this salon has a huge selection of not only regular colors, but specialty colors as well, such as cat eye and jelly polishes. Jelly polishes are definitely on my list to try in the future, so I'll likely be back for that. I very much appreciate the team's outreach and support after my last review, and it's clear that they care greatly for the service they can provide their customers.

No parking in front of the nail shop and no validated parking. If you live in the building above it's great! If you're a college student and can walk it's also great! During my visit I heard several Beyoncé songs. They also give you wine/sparkling wine to drink. So the vibes are all there. I got a pedicure and it was okay. I wasn't overly impressed.
