I came recently to get a gel manicure and suspect that they removed the old polish incorrectly (maybe it needed to be soaked off instead of drilled off?) since a few days after the manicure each nail started breaking and then half of my nails were broken and painful. I called them and they were rather dismissive, saying that there was nothing to fix. But I was passing by anyway so thought I'd try asking and showing them in person. They asked if I had my stamp card (which shows who my nail tech had been) which I did. They asked me to wait a couple minutes and then told me that they would do extensions for free on the broken nails. They took their time to explain that I should take a break from gel next time and do regular polish and were quite nice. They weren't expecting any tip but I tipped a small amount. Surprisingly good. I've been looking for a new salon for mani and pedi, and I'm impressed by their quality and attention to detail, though I do have a reservation about their acetone application. I typically don't like my cuticles touched, pushed, or cut, and they respected that. Not only did they respect it, but they also applied the gel coating with precision, ensuring it doesn't cause lift-off over time... 2 weeks in and my nails still look fresh. Even when removing the gel, they don't over-shave, which helps maintain the health of the nails for repeated gel manicures. However, I wasn't a fan of how they applied the acetone... it was recklessly applied to the sides and onto the skin, with foil wraps covering them. Acetone should be strictly for the nails, and this felt very careless. Despite that, the overall experience was solid. They offer reward cards, though I can't remember the exact number of visits required to earn a free session. They accept credit cards and cash. I think they have customers pay for the credit card fee because it's slightly more if paid by credit card. They don't accept Venmo or Zelle. And they don't offer drinks and/or treats. read more

My nail tech was Mina. She was very efficient, and did a great job of shaping my nails. They said it's not possible to do it with gel x and I needed to do dip (which is an extra $30 or $35). Not knowing any better, I said sure. I came here because it was much cheaper than numerous other nail places I looked into in Manhattan. Called in on the day of for an appointment and was able to get one for me and my friend. As soon as we went inside, we were surprised at just how nice and spaceous inside; they even have clear barriers(?) between the nail tech and client from COVID protocol, which makes the experience feel extra saniatry. I've had a few gel x manicures at Nail Spy this year and had great experiences with Susen with sets lasting 3+ weeks. However, my last appointment was with Anna and I was extremely disappointed. The service felt very rushed (about 30 min total), I noticed that she wasn't as meticulous as Susen when applying the nail under the UV light and did minimal cuticle care. Although I did appreciate the time she spent filing the shape and applying the French tip design. I didn't notice during application (possibly due to the angle of my hands through the protective glass) but she placed the extensions so far from my cuticle they looked over a week grown out! I didn't take a photo the day of, but the photo here with the orange French is only 8 days after my appointment. There was also noticeable lifting from my nail, and I ultimately had to pay for a new set within a week and a half of my appt with Anna. For comparison, the photo of the blue set was taken 2 weeks after application and is nowhere near as grown out. I will consider returning but only if I can book with Susen, unfortunately she is typically off on the days I'm available, so I may need to find a new salon. read more

I have been coming to this salon since June and I have not been disappointed with a service yet. All of the technicians (I've had 4 of them) are skilled, quick, and friendly. The exterior is very cute and the interior is clean and modern. The spa and manicure chairs are comfortable and clean. They have almost every color you can think of in gel and powder. I have tried their gel-x extensions, powder dip, and clear powder dip with gel on top. Each time, my manicure has lasted at least 4 weeks without chipping or breaking and I'm pretty hard on my nails. There has only been one time where my powder chipped a day after getting them filled and they had me come back in to fix them. If you pay using cash, you'll get a discount. They have an ATM that charges a $1 fee if you need it. I constantly get compliments on my nails after getting them done here. I live considerably far from this place, but I love it so much that I always come back. Highly recommend coming here. read more

If you're a perfectionist then you may have to ask them to redo some things a few times but they were patient and very friendly when they had to redo something, my set only took 1 hour as she didn't have to stop and redo much for me. Also if you ask for something they haven't done before they will let you get a trial nail to see if they can do it to your liking and if not then they are honest and will ask you for a backup option. You can tell they price gouge because they'll talk to each other in another language before someone comes to tell you "it'll be $10 more for this" despite telling you another price initially. It was nice and clean, the receptionist was very friendly and kind. I received service from Anna who i guess was overall professional. The issue was that I came in with a photo of what I wanted and based on the pictures they posted on their yelp it seemed very doable. That is the reason I selected this salon. I showed her the photo, she said yes and then helped me match the colors a nude for three finger a blue hunter green for the other two. Then I used the same green for my toes. Everything was going good until I noticed she seemed to be wrapping up but had not done the design. I mentioned this then she says no I can't do that. So now I just have mix matched nails that make no sense. I went up to pay and I asked if they no longer did designs and she said we do but not if it's too complicated. I had some leaves. Much simpler than the full art displayed by them. She then said they could do stickers. I said I would have a look since the tech never mentioned that. There were some similar stickers but the green color did not match. Had I known it had to be a sticker I would be flexible and would have chosen a matching green. It also was 3$ per sticker. So I decided not to get it. Overall I was dissatisfied with my service. $115 plus basically mandatory 18% tip that she stood there to make sure I gave to her felt unfair. I wanted to like this place so badly. I don't. I have been growing my nails out for months in preparation for my wedding next month. The last time I was here, I think the nail technician made my powder dip nails too thin so they all cracked. Sadly one of my nails broke clean off (really short). I came back within the week to get my nails fixed-- and they wanted to charge me full price of over $80! That is unbelievable. After some back and forth, I ended up paying 50% of the service for them to repair my nails that they damaged (??) and on top of that-- the day after the repair service, my nails cracked AGAIN. I am very very disappointed in my final experience at this salon. I understand that mistakes happen, but I believe good customer service can make anything better. I just did not receive that here.
