I've consistently had the same look for the last few years now and am in the process of finding a new salon--unfortunately I can't say this place is the one. It wasn't anything my specific nail tech could've addressed within 5 minutes. There were fine bubbles on all my nails; there was too much polish being applied to the ends of my nails (it slopes up); and there was a decent amount of polish I had to pick off the undersides of my nails and the skin underneath. I pointed out the polish going past my actual nails twice during my appointment and saw there was more I didn't catch when I went home. I love how my nails turned out! I showed Rita a nail design that I wanted and she matched it pretty closely--I am very happy. But before getting the gel polish and design, I had acrylics that needed to be removed. This was a process as I don't think this store deals with acrylic. Initially, she was trying to release the acrylics from my nail bed by sliding a metro card between it. She did it to two nails, but the ring finger was very damaged and thin. She then switched up methods and soaked the remaining fingers in acetone and sanded the polish off. This process was less damaging to the nails. For the ring finger that was damaged, I ended up getting an extension on that to reinforce it. I think Rita did a great job filing and prepping the nails for the gel polish. She made sure each nail was smooth and even. I've been to many nail salons in my time and no one was as meticulous with filing as Rita was. Now onto the nail designs! She was very particular about each of the nails and wanted to match it as close to the reference picture as possible. I think she did a great job and I'm very pleased with the outcome. read more

I came in for a gel set removal with a gel polish finish, and it was so bad. I had to leave before the gel set removal was even done. Absolutely do not waste your money Aside from the fact that each of my nail beds was on fire at different points throughout the service the lack of attention that was paid was so overwhelming that the Dremel tool spun around multiple fingers at different points. It was incredibly rushed and quite honestly one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a nail salon. I definitely could have done this better myself and looking back on it. I should've saved myself the $25+tip and done it myself. As I will be doing so going forward. For context, I used a nail rejuvenating nail polish after having this removal done, and one of my fingers was exponentially more damaged than the others indicated by the inflammation that I felt on my nail bed as a result of it having been filed down so much. Go around the corner to a place where they won't make you feel rushed and where they know that if they don't have the space they're not gonna try to take you on anyway. I give Blooming a 5 star because nail techs deal with so many rude people all the time and they don't get paid enough for that. If customers tried being more patient and kind you would get better service and better results. I love my nails that were done by Rita and I can't stop looking at them. Let me l leave some tips here that I think will help you have a good experience at Blooming. 1. Do not come if you are in a rush. They get very busy and you will probably end up waiting a long time. 2. Even if you make an appointment, you might have to wait so don't get mad if that happens because you have been warned. 3. Even if they tell you to come back at a later time, you still might have to wait. 4. English is a second language to everyone who works here, so expect to have to take your time to explain how you want your nails. You may have to try various different ways to get your point across. Be patient. 5. Bring pictures of how you want your nails. 6. Be nice because if you're mean or difficult or nasty they will just tell you 'no' because you are scaring them and making them nervous 7. Discuss everything you want before they do it because they will change you for every little thing you add. For example $10 per nail design or $30 extra for all, $3-$10 per diamond or sticker, etc. 8. They do not do regular acrylics but won't really tell you that. They have this thing called Virtual Nails but acrylics are not really their thing. You can ask for tips and powder and that's the closest you'll get. 9. Rita and Mariana are best for designs. Joy is so sweet. Those are the girls I normally go to. 10. Listen to them when they tell you not to use CND colors for hand design. It's too thick, use OPI. 11. When you get to the salon, take a look around and assess the situation for yourself. If you see a lot of people getting pedicure expect to wait because they are probably getting manicure too. If you see a lot of people waiting expect you will have to wait too. If you don't want to wait don't get mad just go somewhere else. All that being said, I really like this salon and recommend it. I really wanted to like this place, it's close to home and seemed reasonably priced but quality is mediocre. I made an appointment and still had to wait, but fine it was a busy Saturday. The biggest problem for me was how rushed the whole thing was. While a quick gel appointment is good, if you cut corners, the gel doesn't last. And what do you know, less than 3 hours after I left... one of the nails that was not cleaned and filed properly peeled. I went back to get it fixed, which to their credit they did for free. I left here thinking I had not had an acrylic set this bad EVER. My nail lady seemed like she had no idea what she was doing. I'm usually not one to leave bad reviews but I'm genuinely so unhappy with how they turned out. Nails are bubbly, stubby, and the colors look nothing like they do when they initially show you. A service that typically takes one hour took an hour and a half plus 30 min wait time even though I had made an appointment. The area was clean and the salon is nice, but the staff feels judgy and both times I have been I was not happy. Prices are also insane, I usually get gel acrylics for $60-$70 and here it is $80 not including designs or fun colors that they charge $10 more for. Really disappointed, I've been coming here for 5 plus months now and have even brought friends here my most recent gel pedicure was the worst experience I think I've ever had at a nail salon, the polish I chose came out shades darker than the swatch when I asked why the color was different she kept telling me it's going to get brighter which didn't make any sense i tried expressing I didn't like the color 3 times I finally told her to get the color swatches to show her it was 2 different colors after her giving me 3 different excuses, like the lighting was making the color weird or I had chosen that exact color. I was glad that it was open on my third visit, Chinese New Year, January 29. There were 3 employees and 3 customers, I was the only male. I was directed to take the end pedicure seat. I waited there for 20-25 minutes, left feeling invisible given their full and focused tunnel vision attention on their clients. I wondered when someone would say to me, We're sorry for the delay. Instead, I said this is not a cool place after all, put my socks, ankle supports and hi gh top powder blue Cons back on. While doing so, I bet myself that no one would say anything despite their helper begging me to add on a manicure the last time I had a pedicure. I won my bet. I walked out right in front of two of them without them caring one whit. Am I wrong to suspect it's not legit, or were the employees bitter because it was New Year and they had to work or were they just bitter? It cost one of them a 25% tip! I only had. one experience WITH A DOCTOR, Walls, only blocks away himself, who made me wait longer than 25 minutes in an examining room. I appreciate the women letting me use their bathroom upon arrival. The Burger King, on Delancey, where I'd just had a quick lunch, doesn't have one anymore. It was worth the stamp to send them their card back that would have entitled me to $5 off some such after however many visits. I only give it one star. My greatest issue with other salons is that I can tell that the nail tech is not paying attention, sometimes doing an extra coat on one hand or something that doesn't make sense. Look, I'm not that picky, a manicure is a manicure, but I was looking for a place that I could go and trust that the the person doing my nail was at least paying attention.
