LOVE this salon. It's my go-to place and I've been going for almost 2 years. Annie and Lan are the sweetest people and really take time doing my nails with care and attention to details. The salon is cute, small, and CLEAN. I recommend calling before walking in to see if they have space because sometimes they get busy (esp towards the end of the day after work and weekends). They will be honest when they can squeeze you in and when they are too busy and can't. I've had some bad experiences with other salons where they tell you they are free, come in, and all of the sudden you are waiting for an hour. Not here! Returning satisfied customer. These ladies take fantastic care with my nails. I come in every 3 weeks (only because my nails are outgrown) and the acrylic still stays on. Every other nail salons, the paint will start chipping away within 2 weeks. Prices are reasonable and they do not charge crazy extra for designs/patterns. I'm really torn on this review. When I first walked out of the salon I was ready to give them five stars. I went in early on a Thursday morning and had fantastic service. Since they were slow (I know this is a rarity) I was able to get my mani and pedi done at the same time. As others have said, the massage was longer and paraffin was included. The classic mani/pedi came to just $34. So here's the downside - my nails started chipping the very next day. I'm pretty bummed because I really thought I found my go to place, but this mani/pedi did not last at all. I might chalk this up to the polish or it being a fluke, and give them another shot, but overall I'm kinda bummed. They also don't take credit card, which is somewhat annoying. read more

I have been a regular at QT Nails but after all the gossiping between owner and nail technicians, I just chose to find a new place. I have been trying new places but I never felt home anywhere else. I started to feel that I might be too picky! But then I remembered how much I liked my experience at Nails A1 and I thought I should try this place again and I have to say that this place meets all my needs and expectations. It's clean! Sanitized equipments Great massage chairs. Inexpensive! Paraffin included in the pedicure! Long massages. I last at least 10 min. for each foot! If you book for a mani/pedi expect to be here for at least 2 hrs. They take their time to do a thorough job and I always get compliments on my nails. They are busy so it's good to make an appointment! It tells you a lot about your business if most of your clients are all regulars and they know each other very well! They are like a family... I came here to get my nails done for prom. I got gel nails with extensions and a design on one finger for each hand. There is a pretty big selection of colors, they have sample colors or you can choose from their collection on the walls! The ladies here were friendly and did not chat excessively which was nice. I'm not sure her name but the lady who did my nails (short hair) was pretty attentive and made sure that I was satisfied with the length of the fake nails. There were a few times when she paused and seemed a bit confused(?) when she was getting things but idk. I showed her a picture of the nails I wanted and they turned out just how I'd imagined :). First of all! The price is very reasonable especially in Bay Area. The stylist Temby(Sorry if I spelt wrong on it) did my pedicure and nail polish so well. I chose the "express pedicure"(included nail polish) that just costs $25. Of course I did give her tip. I think overall she did a really great job! I've done lots of mani and pedi before. First time here and I really really liked it! Just as a heads up *my experience probably wasn't a usual one here because I came in Tuesday morning*. This place is really tiny. Just three nail stations and three pedicure stations. Again, if I had come after 5p or on a weekend I am sure it would be insane to try to get in without an appt. I was there for a total of 1.5hrs for a manicure (12$) and pedicure (22$) and even though it was a looooong time it was awesome! It was the most thorough mani/pedi I have ever gotten complete with massages, scrubs, lotions, oil, and A LOT of cuticle cutting and shaping (LOVE when they get in there and really clean and trim nails/cuticles). It is a bit more expensive that my usual place but I am definitely looking forward to coming back on a random day off. I had Ngoc who was really great (expect for being really sniffly and constantly wiping her nose with her hand) but it seemed like everyone that came in there and was a regular had an appt with Lee (she seems to be in charge, the owner maybe?). The pedicures here are amazing!!! Plan on coming when you have time to spare. They take their time and make sure you are relaxing. She restarted my message chair the second it stopped. Paraffin dips come with every pedicure leaving your feet super soft. Would recommend this place to any one, and the pedis are only $22 I would rate more stars if I could! Small and cozy but worth it :] Ask for Lee. I love how thin and beautiful my nails came out, never hurt me once! Plus this environment is way different here So I got another set here and Lee was rushed and I had air bubbles & lint. She was distracted & hurt me. I figured it was a bad day but did the same to the next girl who she started while doing my nails. Ouch. I figured I give her another chance but I can't get an appointment she is super busy and super booked. She is the only good nail technician there. Her work when she does it well comes out great, but the quality of ehr work goes waaaay down when she is rushed which is most of the time. My mom and I have been coming here for about a year now and we will continue to do so for MANY reasons. 1. CLEANLINESS This nail salon is the cleanest place to get your pedicures. I believe they use an autoclave to sterilize all of the tools they use on you & for those of you who aren't sure of what that is, it is what they use in hospitals to sterilize instruments! & I know this because they bring out the pedicure tools in the sterile bag & open it in front of you before starting. I also like how they put a plastic covering in the pedicure tubs. Cleanliness is very important when involving body parts. :-) 2. AFFORDABLE/QUALITY Pedicures here are only $23 which is such a great deal because they include hot wax, foot/leg scrub, foot/leg rub, & hot stones! Most salons charge $30+ for all of that. I also really love how they take their time & really focus on the quality of their work. I've never felt like my time was rushed even when others were waiting. 3. HOSPITALITY Everyone here is extremely kind & welcoming the second you walk in the door & are really good with sticking to their appointments made over the phone. I love Annie and have been going to her for 4 years. When she took over Nails A1 I was so happy for her! I've seen her transform this place since she moved. She has turned it into a beautiful, modern, clean, inviting salon. And the nails...we can't forget the nails. Annie takes her time. She is very meticulously and thorough. My regular nail salon was closed and I could of waited another day, but it was my only day off in weeks. This place is right by my apt, so I thought I'd try it. I was annoyed they don't take cards, only cash. I had a girl named Tina do my nails. I got a reverse French manicure over acrylic, with a matte top coat. It was odd to me the manicurist didn't know what this design was I was asking her to do!?! I showed it to her and she did a lovely job. The ladies at my usual nail salon would know that design! They seem to specialize in glitter powder and other powders, not my usual thing. I got plain acrylic with polish. Tina did an okay job. The nails are too wide and she scraped my skin twice, but she listened to me well and really took her time with me. That kind of detail in service matters to me and I got that from her. :) I might try this place another time. read more

I've been seeing Lee for nearly 12 years... and wouldn't go anywhere else. Her attention to detail is fantastic, and she always remembers any differences you have in your nails versus everyone else. I have thin nails so the drilling can burn my fingers... but Lee knows a way around that problem. And she never takes her customers for granted... I've waited quite some time to write this review as I was hoping that this place would turn around however it just keeps getting worse. I've been a customer at this nail salon for over 10 years and never had a complaint and received nothing but top notch service until the owner sold her business. The owner still works at the salon but it is under new ownership/management. I still get my nails done here with the previous owner however I do not get pedicures here anymore. I've witnessed numerous things that have grossed me out and I know are violations for health reasons. 1. The old owner had the employees take all the fixtures apart and clean the pedicure tubs out with hot water and bleach after every use. They no longer do this. I could see all the mold and mildew building up in the fixtures where the water sprays out for the spa tub. (NOTE: They now have brand new spa pedicure chairs so you won't see the mold and mildew, but give it a few months and you will!) 2. I've witnessed the new owner filling up lotion bottles on the floor, spilling the lotion on the floor and then scraping it up with her hands and putting it back in the bottle. (As far as I'm concerned, whatever is on the floor, finger nail and toe clippings, dirt and whatever else ppl track in on their shoes is now going to be rubbed on your feet, legs and hands) 3. I've witnessed the workers reuse files and buffers used on other ppls feet and hands. (Heaven forbid someone before they use that shit on you gets cut and has some disease and you get it!) It's saddening to me that this business that was once such a clean and excellent nail salon has gone to the shitter. Lee does the BEST nails in the bay area. She is ALWAYS booked 2-3 weeks out and anyone who I have referred to her is a life long customer. Annie is also a fabulous worker who has been there and used to do my pedis. She does fantastic mani/pedis (if you're willing to risk the health risks) and is super thorough. Since the new owner, there has been lots of employee turnover in that salon. I want to say I've seen maybe 5 different girls come and go in less than a year. I hate writing bad reviews however this one I couldn't just pass on. Hopefully the new owner will stop trying to cut corners and her customers with a clean salon. read more

People ask me all the time where I get my nails done, and I owe it all to Lee the owner of Nails A1. She does the thinnest most natural looking acrylic nail you will ever find. No lifting and no peeling, I love it. She is always booked so no walk-ins for sets but they are so worth it. Call for an appointment for sets, she is open 6 days a week. Yes I drive almost 40 miles to get my nails done; they even have one client who comes from Marin. She has a small clean salon with great staff. Her prices are slightly higher than most but once you get a set by her you never want to see anyone else. She is quick at approx 45 mins and is rarely behind schedule. They have great spa pedicures as well; with leg massages and paraffin wax. I find her well worth the drive, it is just a quick jump from 17 to 85 then over to Lawrence. read more
