I came in today with my daughter to have both manicures and pedicures. Please let me share that my daughter is an active drug addict, as well as an amputee. The owner Kim was more then fare with her pricing. If anything, it was much more affordable than in my area, Exton, Pennsylvania. From the moment that we walked in until the moment that we left, each person was nicer than the next. Lee helped us as did Kim and Hung. (Sorry about spelling) They were professional. We both were more then happy with our manicures and pedicures. I also had a few facial waxings, which I am very pleased with. People please remember, every person has their own unique struggles. I went in for a pedicure and this nail salon was super unsanitary and its seemed like the technicians were not professionals. All utensils were out a reusable Marshall's bag just sitting there not sanitized. Ive been to many salons that have utensils that are fresh for each client or at least sitting in solution to disenfect. ALSO the smell inside this salon was horrible. So I got my gel removed and polish manicure for $17 which is a deal but then my thumb was in severe pain for two days and then this came out of my thumb! I don't think her tools were clean they were in a rush and I had to get outpatient surgery and was in so much pain because there tools are dirty and they do not take their time. Came here last minute to get my feet cleaned up before a vacation. I really, really hate to give reviews that are less than three stars, but my experience here was not great. Let me preface this by saying that I rarely get polish with my pedicures (I just like to get my feet scrubbed and my toenails shaped up), so I can't speak to the *full* pedi experience... but what I did receive of the service was sloppy and painful. My toenails weren't rounded but wildly inconsistent from toe to toe (and sometimes even on the same toe!) Long to short, rounded on one side and square on another... she was barely looking at my feet while she filed my nails down. But that wasn't what brought me here to give a less-than-ideal review. The pain did it! I recently had surgery on my foot. It's healed enough to be getting a pedicure, but when I asked the woman to be gentle to the skin around my scar, she barely listened. She also barely listened when I told her that a toenail I had lost in the same accident was growing in a bit painfully, and to go easy there, too. She dug right into the skin to pull out the growth (which I DID want!) but did it so roughly that I nearly cried in that chair. Ouch! My toe was a bloody mess that hurt well into the next day. Thankfully, no infections. Overall, the damage was $22. Really, $45 since I had to get the pedi re-done a week later at a different salon. I'll pass on ever coming back again. read more

I've tried this salon a number of times given its close proximity to my office. The results have been mixed depending on the technician but I still returned in the hopes of better service. Today my appointment was with one of the owners and my service was, again, subpar. I have polish all over my skin and cuticles, which is simply unacceptable. I asked her to fix it and the result AFTER her cleaning it up still looks like a six year old did my nails. I've attached a picture. I love Nails by Chau's personnel and quality!! The ladies are very nice and the quality of their work is worth the value. I typically get gel on my nails and it lasts for 2 weeks or so. My nails are healthy and stronger than ever. Chau, Tracey, Anna and Wendy always make the best selections for me when I am indecisive. They just have too many colors to choose from!!! Today I wanted something different, so Tracey suggested Blue Chrome. It costs a little bit more since there is an additional step than the normal gel process, but they look AWESOME!! I came in on a Sunday afternoon after finding my normal nail salon unexpectedly closed. I asked a the powder manicure and a regular pedicure. The pedi was pretty basic and nothing out of the ordinary. The manicure was a little odd, I think maybe there was some miscommunication on my end because I ended up having what ended up just being a gel mani with a dip base (colorless) coat. All in all my manicure ended up okay, there are some bits of the gel that have snagged skin meaning there will be the inevitable air bubble that will cause the Polish to snag. Other than that it wasn't bad at all the place is cleans it's instruments as far as I could tell and they were all very nice. I will likely go back to my normal salon but the ladies here are fine and if I'm in a pinch I'll probably come back. read more

I've been coming here for a while now and have to say that this place is a gem! I usually get a manicure pedicure and the staff is amazing each time. My go to gal is Hong. The store itself is clean, well kept, and organized. Theres an endless amount of colors and I love when the new colors come out because they place them in the very cute displays. They have all of the big brands like OPI and Essie so the options are endless. The no chip manicure is something that I recommend. The bottoms are all white so you have to use the palate that they provide you. The bottles that I choose from are Essie. And I get then on my hands and toes. They stay on for a solid week or two on my hands and even longer on my toes - especially when I'm feeling lazy. These ladies know what they're doing and have so many years of experience under their belts! And the prices are probably the lowest in CC. read more

I go here every time I need a manicure. I've gotten acrylic nails here and they're amazing. They looked really nice and didn't actually *look* like I had acrylic. Reently, I switched to gel nails and they're really good here too. They're corwded at the lunch hour but that's to be expected since every lady in center city seems to be running in on their lunch break. They have enough staff to handle it. In my experience, they don't seem to like having people sitting and waiting in the waiting area so they will sit people at stations and have their hands/feet soak as they wait insteed. Today was my first time coming to the salon. I was charged $28 for a mani/pedi for my natural nails. The woman who did my mani/pedi did an okay job but I could've done without nail polish on my skin. I am updating my review to give a GREAT recommendation. Go see Mai and ask for CND Shellac - the relatively new no-chip gel lacquer. It claims to last 2 weeks (mine lasted 9 days cip-free, 11 days with some edgewear - by day 14 it was cashed). I just had a spa pedi, eybrow wax and a Shellac Mani (in a rich red shade) all for $67 ($77 with a $10 tip). I am re-thinking Chau's. I will be back. read more

This place is great for a hassle free mani/pedi. They do an awesome job and my manicure usually stays a lot longer than when I get my nails done at other salons. Typical walk-in type place and is a smaller salon, but the space is utilized well. The staff is polite and friendly. Even though they are often bustling with business, I never have to wait too long They give a great pedicure and make sure you are comfortable, and relaxed! They take walk in's as well as appointments and are very clean. As I said before, they are usually busy, but even so, they try to get to everyone in a timey manner and I have never felt forgotten about or rushed either. The prices are pretty great too! Very inexpensive/comparable to the other salons in the area. I usually bring my own nail polish, but they do have a huge collection of polish to choose from and they are often available to purchase if you need the color to touch up your nails! I've been here several times over the past year in hopes of the service or quality returning to that of my first experience, but it has only gone downhill. First, the service is terrible. For no clear reason, I have had the technician changed mid-manicure on three different occasions. My technicians are constantly answering their cell phones or the office phone, making a simple manicure take much longer than it should. Second, quality is completely hit or miss. I've had a few good experiences, but the last several times have left my cuticles in terrible shape, the nail length and shape is inconsistent, and I've been cut by aggressive emery boards many times. LOVE this place! I've tried multiple nail salons around Philly trying to find my new one and I'm happy to say I've finally found it. I waited one week from the time I got my gel manicure to write this review to ensure it would hold up and I'm pleased to say it looks as good as it did a week ago, not a single chip in the polish and unlike Coco Bleu spa (which is severely over priced and did a HORRIBLE job on my nails, after 1 week it looked like I had gotten them done a month prior) the gels aren't already falling off nor is there a huge gap between my fingernail and skin. I got a mani/pedi here for $28, the best price in Center City. The nail technicians did a good job and my nail polish looked good for awhile after the mani/pedi. The nail techs are friendly, they have a decent nail color selection and they allow you to tip on your credit card. I'll be back!!! read more

I got a gel manicure here in January 2020. It was extremely goopy and bumpy, and the edges were uneven and didn't cover my whole nail. It was too thick especially at the tips and looks very uneven. My nails were also filed to one side, so they skew to the side. I also noticed after leaving that were was gel polish on several of my finger pads, which took me a while to scrape off and was a bit painful. In addition they charged me $30 when I thought it would be $25. I do think they did a nice job on my cuticles. I won't be going back. read more

I used to frequent this place years ago when I worked in center city. Hong was my person of choice; however today she was off and chau rushed through my nails. I got an acrylic overlay which is apparently the same price as a full set. Anyway in between stopping to check her phone and talk to the neighboring worker she did a pretty bad job on my nails. I have had two problems within the past six months at the nail salons owned by Chau (the other being Chestnut Nail). They share staff as well so I feel that you could have the same problem at either location. I really hate to have to get used to a new salon but I have to switch. I had a mild fungal infection on my feet about six months ago that showed up the day after I had my feet done. Mind you I have been going to her salons for like seven years and never had a problem before but last week the technician nicked my heel pretty well and it hurt for like three days. I come here with my ladies - for a girls day out - about once a month. We get the works, mani, pedi and eyebrow wax (yes - I'm obsessed with my brows : ) I'm not sure how we originally found Chau's but we enjoy the experience. The people here are friendly and always ask about how our friends are doing, that aren't there that day . For a mani- pedi combination, its only $25 + tip. They do a good job, especially on the brow waxing, and the cost is really good for Center City. Nothing fancy, but they do it right. read more

HUGE selection of gel colors! So that was awesome. Pleasant interior. My gel pedi was $40. It took an hour and it seemed she was trying to do a good job, but the result was just decent enough. Not ideal (I did bleed), but good. Overall, not disappointed with the experience and they had a killer selection of gel colors, and that's good enough for me. Just not spectacular or cheap enough to warrant more stars. I would continue looking for a better nail spot to be a regular at. The nail salon I wanted to go to was under construction, so I thought I would give it a try. Bad Idea! The girl that did my mani-pedi was very rude, unfriendly, and lazy. She didn't feel like lifting my feet at all. I was supposed to hold them in the air for five minutes while she did mild work. The decor is nothing special. It didn't seem clean nor dirty. It's a very cramped space, but that's expected in center city. I only got a mani-pedi and it's so mediocre. They didn't clean up the stray paint around my nails, which makes them look unprofessional and amateur. I mean I can mess up my own nails. Bottom Line: never going to see me in there again. read more
