I can't say enough good things about this place. I don't get my nails done regularly, but the couple of times I have I think your nails outcome just really depends on the tech you have. I've been to prestige about three times so far and each time I've been satisfied with the way my nails have turned out. Yesterday I went to get my nails done and I chose 2 colors that I realized later after the colors were on that they did not go well together. When I asked my nail tech if they go together she said "you choose the color." So while I was disappointed that she did not provide any assistance with helping me with my colors just to see if they match, I still got them done. When I was done I did not like the color ,but stuck with it anyway because I made a bad call on the colors. After going home, I realized I really hated the color and could not go 4 weeks looking at my nails like this. So I went back today asking if they would redo some of the nails. Judy was so nice, redid the nails I had problems with, put on a design of own that looked great. And did not even charge me despite me admitting that it was my error. I've always found their store to be clean and efficient and can usually get an appointment same-day or next-day. I had my wedding nails done here (French dip nails with tips) and they lasted for OVER a month! They worked very carefully to make sure it was what I wanted. Dip nails typically end up being around $50 (including removal of prior dip) and gel is around $30. They also offer pedicures, waxing, and massage. Tips for your visit: ⁃ Appointments are scheduled by phone only. I've seen walk-ins but they tend to be pretty busy. ⁃ Bring cash! Definitely the preferred method. I got a very simple design, and I think it was personally overpriced especially for the job they did. My nails came out crooked which is my mistake for letting it continue, but I had to get my nails done. I did let her know and she tried telling me it wasn't and redid it and continued to do so on the rest of my nails and tried convincing me that all my fingers were naturally crooked. It's been 4 days and my gel x nails are already lifting, and one is about to fall off (I don't do anything aggressive with my hands). The staff also tried charging me $10 more, but I had told them that the price wasn't adding up. The space was definitely clean and aesthetic. Lee did my pedicure, which was okay, but also a little rushed. She put me under the nail dryer, then forgot about me while she took another customer. Another person on staff checked my nails so I could leave (I'd waited about 20 minutes), then gave me plastic baggies to wear so the polish wouldn't smudge. But it did, pretty badly. Trying to find a decent, clean, and well priced nail salon feels like the biggest challenge of all time. When it comes to Philly nail salons, I have gotten around! After some internet research and Yelp searching, I decided to give Prestige a call on a Sunday afternoon. I called around noon, they were able to see my at 3:30 for a gel manicure and regular polish pedicure. While prestige is technically located on the 1600 block of Spruce, it is right on the corner by 17th street. You go up a few stairs (it is not wheelchair accessible) and then enter through the first door on the left. I was greeted upon arrival and told to select a color without much guidance. There is a wall of polishes and then different swatches scattered throughout the space. I picked my pedicure polish and was brought to a back room where the pedicure seats are located. It was very clean and there was even a barrier between me and the technician. The seat was comfortable. I noticed a small paper menu with a list of pedicure options. My technician mentioned that the first few options come with "No Massage" despite the fact that their descriptions on the paper menu stated they did. These were in the $30-40 range. Beneath those options were the spa pedicure options and they included 15 minutes of massaging for $55. I had recently gotten a pedicure elsewhere that was pretty bare bones, so I decided to go for the spa option with lavender. The pedicure was great. Did I get 15 minutes of massaging? Probably not but it was good enough for me. I did love that hot stones were included. After my pedicure I was walked over to the main salon area for my gel manicure. I selected a sheer glittery polish (it's giving the Hailey Bieber vibes that are all the rage right now) and was told that was an additional $10. I did not even know what the base pricing was for the gel manicure was at this point but figured that since this is a bit fancier it was worth it. The manicure did not include many frills. There was no back massage or anything like that while my nails dried. However, I do love how my nails look and they feel way stronger than a typical gel polish. When it was time to pay I saw that the basic gel manicure was $30. I had paid $40 for a gel manicure the week before that did not last, so I was happy to pay the same amount for these results. I did feel a bit like everything was an upcharge. They don't offer drinks but do have one of those water dispensers and cups. If this manicure lasts longer than a week, then I would be happy to make Prestige my regular spot! read more

I recently was looking for a new nail salon since my usual place has been hard to get an appointment with and the last time I got my nails done, I left in pain, so I was looking forward to trying a new salon. This place is definitely a no frills nail studio, so if you are used to getting drinks or a massage at the end - this is definitely not your place. They don't have a wide variety of colors, but they have good basics. I got a regular manicure that did chip soon after leaving, but I liked the shape and cut of my nails. $25 dollar minimum for cards, but they have a MAC machine inside. I hate writing bad reviews but my gel manicure was just horrible. It took literally 8 coats for her to get the color opaque. She painted in an actual black hair to my pale pink polish. She attempted to use the power tool on my healthy nails to create an unnecessarily rough surface. The clear coat they used as a base caused pain as it hardened under the UV (which is something I have never experienced before.) Honestly I could look past the other stuff but she didn't soak or trim my cuticles at all, then painted all over my cuticles and skin. When I pointed out that she was doing that, she started filing my skin until I pulled my hands away in pain x3 and she finally stopped. It has been less than 3 days and half my gel nails have peeled off. Definitely the worst manicure I have ever had. read more

Wanted to do nails in PA since my regular stylist in LA got sick. I enjoyed my session. It was quick and the person doing my nail was nice and had a gentle touch. The blue that caught my eye had a cats eye design on it looks fantastic in the light. My nails came out looking much better than what I had anticipated. 100% would come back here if I'm ever in PA. I was taking a break from gel nails but I finally caved My hands and feet were a mess and the cold winter weather wasnt helping. I was a little unsure about going without an appointment on the weekend but figured it might be ok if I went as soon as it opened and I was right. I sailed in, a gentleman greeted me at the door and showed me the wall where I could pick my polishes. (I was glad I got there early because business definitely picked up within an hour. I was impressed with the selection and how they identified which polishes had both a gel and regular formulation (since I planned to get regular for my pedicure). The establishment is quite spacious, much bigger than I was expecting...pedicure chairs in the back and manicure tables in the front room. The man asked me if I wanted a beverage and I chose coffee...there were a bunch of other options including champagne. My manicurist was very neat and mostly gentle (and patient with me during the massage portion because I am extremely ticklish and it's difficult for me to keep still when someone is touching the underside of my foot). I thought she was a little aggressive with pushing my cuticles back; did so quite roughly and it hurt a little. I wasn't expecting the mini hot stone massage with my pedicure before the hot towels but it was a lovely surprise. Cash only tipping here but the ATM machine doesn't have fees!! read more

Extremely unhappy because of 2 reasons: 1) Terrible service: the woman who did my gel mani and pedi was extremely rude. She skipped the massage part for both hand and feet that I saw was being done for my friend sitting next to me, and when I asked her about it, she snapped "We aren't a massage parlor!!" and rolled her eyes at me. When I asked why my friend got massages and she angrily huffed and said "FINE FINE" before slapping my arms with a towel for a minute and that was the "massage". She then proceeded to angrily complain about me to another person who works there, rolling her eyes and pointing at me with her head. I was so taken aback and felt extremely uncomfortable almost to the point of tears. 2) Three days later, I realize that my gel manicure has changed color into a gross blackish-yellow hue. Looking closer, I see that there are black dots embedded into the nails, and the nail itself is coated unevenly in weird thin/thick layers. Terrible. I can only speak for the nail tech I had, and I do not know her name.. but I had a terrible experience. It started nicely - pedicure was good (even though I requested it in my appointment and was greeted with shock when I mentioned it) The bottom line is that she cut my long, natural nails, to the shortest length I've ever had. After requesting "a little bit" off the length. Filed them all in different shapes. And made me bleed a bit from drilling my cuticles so roughly. I have some funky skin stuff so I appreciately the general cleaning up of my cuticles. But the color! If I could leave less than one star, I would. I went in for an acrylic manicure the morning of a work holiday party after making an appointment a day earlier. I found it strange when the girl sitting at the front desk looked up at me from her phone and then right back down without saying anything but things only got more confusing when the staff seemed to have an argument right in front of me. After asking the nail tech if the design I had chosen was too complicated, she proceeded to call everyone in the shop over to look and said "yeah no problem." Big problem - it didn't look anything like the picture I had shown AND I was still charged for it in addition the the terrible job she did "fixing" the mistake. I did a lot of research before coming to this place because I care a lot about quality and I don't like spending my money on things I'm not satisfied with. I also like to make sure I'm paying a reasonable price. So I looked at several review sites and finally decided to give this place a chance. I'm extremely happy that I did. I'm not super well-educated with nails so I wasn't sure of what exactly I needed in terms of achieving the look I desired, but once you tell them the color and look you want, they really help you figure it out. The owner does most of the technical work when getting dip powder nails. She does such an amazing job with my nails. She is very meticulous and takes her time to make sure the shape and length are perfect. I have a lot of respect for her professional manner and expertise with nails. But honestly, everyone at the salon is super nice and professional. Shoutout to Hanna! She is an employee about my age and I met her when I was getting gel polish on my toes. She was so easy to talk to and made me feel really comfortable even as I was pretty embarrassed with the status of my legs and feet at the time (dry skin & not much nail care, plus I forgot to shave lol) - I was a mess and had a wedding to go to. Anyway, the front desk attendant is also someone I've noticed to be super nice and accommodating with your coat check, holding belongings, and any schedule changes. My line of work does include some manual labor and I must say, the nails I walk out with have proved to be extremely sturdy. My nails last about 3 weeks before any damage occurs. (Though 2 weeks is recommended for refills.) *Some perks!* They give you a complimentary drink which ranges from wine to a selection of teas to hot chocolate. My sister was with me and had a different lady who rushed through her set and finished in 25 mins. She's had the same chipping throughout the week. Echoing another review that was left, I experienced pain with my gel manicure because of the polish that was used. I expressed this multiple times to the woman doing my nails and was continuously ignored until I finally removed my fingers for my own safety. After six days with my gel manicure it has already started to chip, which has also never happened to me before with the many gel manicures I've received in my life. My experience started with a phone call, where I first got an answering machine when trying to book. I called back got a person& set up a 115 on a Friday for my bestie& I. When you go in they have a sign on the door explaining current practices, temp check, hand sanitizer& questionnaire. It then states once all of this is done wait outside. Now mind you this was a 10 minute walk from our workplace& it was in the 90s. We wait outside for 30 mins after arriving 5 minutes early for the appt. Loved the selection of colors. The pedicure was amazing, just went with the standard polish pedicure. The rock portion of the message was perfection. My technician had to go to the bathroom so even after we had to wait my process started well after my fiends. So we ended up not being near each other for most of our appointment. Which was a shame& definitely not our plan or intent. They had lots of products for sale& normally offer drinks to clients, unfortunately not during COVID. I was very happy with my nails& my tech always made sure that I was happy with the color& shaping. I will definitely be back. They do give you a discount for paying cash, but unfortunately I wasn't told this at the time of booking my appointment or I would have brought more with me then just to tip, I don't like to carry a lot of cash in the city. I recently moved to Philly and have tried a couple different nail places to be my loyal go-to. I got done only a UV gel manicure. I had high hopes for Prestige based on other reviews, but I'm extremely disappointed for a few reasons: * My cuticles were barely done at all * There were some colors painted onto the samples with no associated #, and when I asked if I could get one of those colors they said it wasn't a color (just a little confusing) * The process was VERY rushed; normally with great places they'll pay attention to detail in your nails and I'll be there for ~45-60 minutes, but I was out of here in 20 minutes tops. She just slapped on a couple coats quickly and sent me on my way (It was not crowded, nobody was waiting) * I wasn't asked what shape I would like my nails in, she just started filing until I asked for a square shape *My manicure has barely lasted a few days (**see pictures**). They had already started chipping and peeling away from my nail by day 2. Currently it's only been 1 week and this is what I would expect my nails to look like after 3-4 weeks typically. 2 stars because they were pleasant and had a great color selection, but I will definitely not be returning. read more

I asked the nail technician to (1) NOT cut my natural nails which i prefer to keep long, (2) to keep the almond shape. She immediately CUT MY NAILS SHORT and when I said I was upset she offered to put extensions on them for extra charge. She DRILLED instead of trimming my cuticles and they still hurt the next day. In addition, she finished my dip manicure with gel and UV even though that's not how dip is applied and there are signs all over the salon that say that dip doesn't involve UV. First time getting my nails done since coronavirus, and I was very impressed with the way they handled everything! Upon entry, they take your temperature and have you wash your hands. The staff wears gloves, protective gowns and masks the entire time, and each station has the clear guard plastic between client and stylist. I watched them clean every tool before using with alcohol. I got dip powder done, and they even poured the powder into a separate little shot glass to keep it separated from the general powder pot. I have been going to Prestige for a little over a year and I refuse to go anywhere else. The prices are reasonable and they offer a free drink (white wine, red wine, mimosa, etc) which was a big selling point when I first started going. Now I love prestige because they do an amazing job. They have a huge collection of polish and get new OPI all the time in gel, regular and sometimes dip. I normally get acrylic or a dip manicure and my nails are healthy, strong, and only break if I let them grow out for about 4 weeks. Rose was so lovely, she was very helpful over the phone when I booked my appointment and also when she was doing my nails. She took her time doing them and was very gentle. Salon was spacious, nice and clean. There was lots of choice for nail varnish colours. Would really recommend and would definitely go again. My only small complaint would be that my nail appointment wasn't on time.
