Have been here couple of times and always loved the experience. I usually get my nails done from Kelly she is really good. Service is always good sometimes you have to wait as they are pretty busy but get an appointment that helps And yesterday got a Mimosa now that's something I can get used to will definitely go there again

I've been a loyal client of Nails on 9th and Sandy for three years, but unfortunately, since the new management took over, Sandy has left and the experience has gone downhill. First, they used to be open seven days a week, which made it easy for those of us with busy schedules to find time for an appointment. Now, they're closed on Sundays, making it much harder for anyone with a 9-to-5 job to get in. Pricing has also become inconsistent. I get the same service every time, yet the total I'm charged is always different, give or take $40. While their prices are standard for the area, it's unsettling to never know what you'll actually be paying. There is no menu of services. On top of that, they send out mass texts advertising 15% off, but conveniently fail to mention that the discount only applies during "happy hour." The final straw was my most recent visit, which will also be my last. I had previously nail tech that I liked named Destiny, but she was let go for some reason. Instead, I was booked with Annie. I always get long, sharp stiletto Gel-X nails with a builder gel fill. Instead of using builder gel, which has always been my go-to and takes minimal time, she insisted on using poly gel, which required molding and shaping--taking significantly longer. When I requested to use the builder gel right on the shelf behind her, they flat-out declined. The shaping was also a disaster. I specifically asked for a sharp stiletto, but Annie's filing job was sloppy and inconsistent. When I asked her to make them sharper, she incorrectly said she'd have to rebuild the nail. I clarified that I just wanted more taken off the sides, which should've been a simple request, yet she didn't seem to understand. Communication barriers aside, a nail tech should know how to shape a stiletto nail properly. To add to the frustration, when picking out a color, I asked for a pinky nude. The first shade she showed me was just flat out pink, so I suggested something closer to my skin tone. Instead of helping me find the right shade, she lost her patience, walked off, and complained to the manager--claiming I expected her to try every single color (which wasn't true; she had only tried one). When the set was finally done, I walked up to what I assumed to be the manager to go pay, and he said Annie guarantees her work. We made small talk about how hard it is to find a good nail tech, but as we were speaking, I noticed that one hand was VISIBLY sharper than the other--the shapes didn't match at all. I brought it up to the manager before paying, and instead of offering a reasonable fix, he told me they would have to completely redo the set if I wanted it corrected. Again, that's wrong, just file the nails. (I included pictures here, and to the untrained eye, I know they might look a similar so you can call me crazy if you want, but if I'm spending $100, I'd like for the shape of my nails to at least match) There was no effort to make things right, no regard for customer service, and no acknowledgment that I've been a loyal client for years. I guess the salon doesn't guarantee Annie's work. It's unfortunate to see a once-reliable salon lose its quality and care for customers. I really wanted to continue supporting this business, but with the way they now operate, I can't justify coming back.

Worst nail experience in my life! The nail tech got upset that she couldn't draw the heart the same on both hands and literally got up and left with no notice. There was no tension on my side until after o realized she left and wasn't coming back. I would never go to this shop as a black woman

I have been to a few high end establishments in California and 1 in Cancun. I have paid up to $350 for an hour massage and I recommend this place before any of those despite those places being more aesthetically pleasing. Sandy is a certified massage therapist who knows acupoints, acupressure and share her knowledge for you to practice at home in between massage sessions. I'll take this over the others! The place could use new decor, however, the quality in their work esp Sandy's massages is most important.

Terrible service time after time! I went on my day off and they demolished my nails while trying to remove my past gel x set I told the artist she was hurting me while trying to drill my past set off she made multiple hot spots on my natural nails and then put my whole hand in a bucket of pure acetone drying my entire hand leaving my nails aching and my finger feeling cut open and aching they then told me to leave after I told Tony the owner that this service was being done incorrectly NEVER COME TO THIS SALON they are unsanitary and unprofessional I'm extremely surprised this place is still in b

This is my second time coming to nails on 9th. Both times the experience was great! There's never a wait and the staff are very friendly. Paula helped me this time and she did an amazing job on my pedicure. I will definitely be coming back and requesting her service. The location is clean and the pedicure chairs all look new. Usually at other places some chairs are not working or damaged. Not at this location. The pricing is manageable for the most part. The days of $25 pedicures and manicures are long gone lol. Overall, I will continue to come to this location for my manicures and pedicures.

Great hospitality but super overpriced I got charged 55$ for a fill and color change. And I also was not happy with my end result I still have my last color under my nails. A lot of miscommunication I would've never spent that much.

From step 1 to finish (not finished) could not do anything right except hurt my fingers while filing, scraping off old gel, whatever and anything they did. I stopped myself from getting angry 10+ times she hurt my hands. Stopped mid-service to leave because I just couldn't handle the pain / shit service / slow and rude service they did. Can't believe she locked the doors so I couldnt leave when I tried to negotiate price due to the pain caused. Please do better if you're located in DTLA. Wasted money for no reason--would've rather ate shit

I live near the location of the Nails on 9th location, so I thought I would check it out. I had an appointment for 2:15pm, but when I arrived it took around five minutes to get me situated, which was alright as I am a patient person. I payed $167 for a short chrome gel manicure with tips and two gems on my index fingers. The chrome was not cleaned up properly nor coated with top coat, so they're peeling and chipping rather quickly. The nail tech cut my finger and then proceeded to laugh about it. The gems are fake and rust rather quickly. I haven't even had these nails for a week. read more

Definitely a hidden gem in the downtown area! The techs here are super talented and will work hard to provide the best experience possible. I always work with Sandy as she is the most talented artist I could ask for. She loves being creative and will always go the extra mile for her clients. I always get a new set and CBD pedicure. FINALLY a nail salon downtown that does what I ask without an attitude. Sandy went above and beyond to take care of my very damaged nails. Due to improper techniques other salons have wrecked my nails but she gave me the option of dipping powder which I've never tried and it came out so beautiful. DO NOT GO HERE. I got my acrylic nails removed and whatever she soaked my nails in was not just acetone, it had a brownish color.. my nails have never been this weak, bendable & breakable.. & i know it's from the removal bc EVERY SINGLE NAIL is thin & breaks easily.. they were actually hurting so bad i couldn't even scratch my head. Under new management !! They have totally rearranged the salon it looks amazing. I had no idea the salon was under new management since July 1st, so when I booked an appointment on Wednesday for a gel manicure on Friday at 5:30, it was a pleasant surprise to walk into the newly designed salon. There's a new check in situation when you arrive which I think racks up points every visit, though I'm not sure what for just yet. Looking forward to finding out:). I sat with Annie, who was awesome!! And I explained to her that I really wanted this peacock color that I had a long time ago and haven't been able to find since. She nailed it, lol. SO happy with the shape, color, and length. And, she didn't file my nails to be too thin. She listens to what you want really well no explaining needed and I can always appreciate that. This is already my go-to spot, but this is a BIG step up for the salon! Super encouraged to come back. A gel manicure is only $45, the shiny glitter I got on my nails to achieve the chrome look was $15 extra, so the total was $60. But I tipped $15 because I was so happy with my nails and she truly deserved it :))))))). read more

If you had doubts about this place or old management, you should give them another shot. Love that they took their time to make each nail perfect. I go to this place every two weeks and they always get my nails right. They listen to what I ask for and make adjustments accordingly! I'm never there for more than two hours without an appointment and with it's no longer than an hour. They always make sure my acrylics look natural and not bulky which is my pet peeve! Nails on 9th is a dishonest, unethical, mismanaged, horribly run nail shop. During my appointment on December 18, the nail tech accidentally spilled red polish on my Shearling Tory Burch sandals. She profusely apologized. I get it was a mistake, so I told her I'd do what I can at home too. We thought it would come off with nail polish remover. The bright red stain has come off after several washes at home, but there's a pink tint left in multiple places on the shoes that won't come out. I immediately DMd the nail shop upon returning home to inform the owner who runs the account of the incident. They apologized profusely and told me to keep them posted. Today, when I reached back out to let them know the pink tint would not come off, they switched up. They sent me a message full of lies and claimed they aren't liable. It's not like I asked for the full $350 price of my shoes. So to treat a loyal customer like this is beyond sick. In addition, Ann once had a major temper tantrum doing my nails because I didn't like one little design out of several. She behaved like a toddler and stopped doing my nails for a solid 15 minutes. I refused to leave so she finally finished. I should've been done with her and that shop that day and I wouldn't have had my $350 shoes ruined. I will be pursuing this to the full extent of the law. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

The service here is absolutely fantastic!! I've been getting my nails done at this location for almost three years and every visit has been worth while. All of the ladies here are incredibly nice and professional. They go over and beyond to make sure your experience is pleasant, especially Sandy! Decent pedicure for $16 bucks for the standard treatment. For $22 you get the "spa" pedicure which involves the vibrating chair. The lady did a nice job trimming and cleaning my nails. The massage was just so-so, but again--it was only $16. Decent choice of colors and not bait on the weekend so you can just walk in. Vietnamese tv is playing and is a little loud, but fine. read more

Pretty solid work done here for reasonable price. Best mani pedi I ever got? No. But for gel hand and pedicure being 40 bucks I'll take it. Job felt a little rushed for the salon being empty with me being the only client at the time, but I'm happy that they did my mani pedi at the same time and for me out. Not a fancy place by any means, and if you want extras than you should go elsewhere. They also charge to pay with credit even if it's over $10 read more

So I've come here a few times now and I usually wait until I've gone to a nail shop at least three times before I leave a review because that gives me a chance to go through a couple different technicians and see if I really like it there. And I will say so far Sandy has been the only person to do my nails and she's done such a good job that I naturally look for her everyone I go! I only went here just to get a manicure and my gel removed because they are located RIGHT next to my work. The bad reviews have made me scared to ever come here, but i thought since I was getting such a simple service that it should be fine. The place is disgusting and my fingers/nails look the same as they did before I went in, besides not having gel polish on them. You can tell the floors boards have come up in certain areas and instead of fixing them professionally, they have glued them down and you can see the glue piles every step you take. HUGE white chunks of dirty glue on the floor. They have you sit in old and dirty chairs that are not comfortable. Everything in there is gross. I felt gross sitting in there and didn't even want to wait to let my nails dry and just left. The nail salon looks like it's about to fall apart. Will not go back. Way worth it to walk a few extra feet and go somewhere else. Nasty. read more

Extremely unprofessional and severely understaffed. I went to the salon at 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon when I arrived, they let me know the lady doing nails will be with me shortly so I took a seat. After about 10 minutes someone came and took all of my nail polish off of my nails to prep them for the lady doing my nails. Nobody ever came back to me for the rest of the time I was there. At 6:05 I finally said something and asked if anyone going to do my nails and the man who took my polish off said the lady is now doing waxes so I asked well is she going to do my nails and he said I don't know let me go ask... That alone is ridiculous after I had already been sitting there for an hour. He comes back and says it's going to be at least another 15 minute wait. All they had to do was ask me to come back. That is absolutely ridiculous and I ended up leaving the salon with crazy looking nails just so I can make it somewhere else and get my nails done before all the shops close at seven. Awful experience do not recommend read more

Friendly but understaffed so you will have to wait to get any service done even if you have an appointment. I can typically go 4-5 weeks before I need my nails filled and I'm in week 2 and have already broken 3 nails, will not be returning. read more

She is gentle and kind during the waxing and finished in about 10 minutes. Her prices are also fair and affordable. Making an appointment is a breeze - first time clients need to fill out an initial survey (super quick and easy) which I did before completing my appointment request. This is unprofessional; how dare you charge a client knowing you burned/over process their eyebrows. Amanda didn't even do a skin test to make sure the chemicals she uses won't burn my skin, which I know professionals do all the time oh and she didn't even do a questioner. Please don't come here. Instead of owing towards her mistake Amanda accuse the client for her mistakes. Thanks to Amanda my eyebrow are black crusty and my skin was burned. Thank you Amanda for making me look like my eyebrows where drawn by a sharpie really appreciate that gangster look. People please do your research and go with a technician that is license and follows protocol such as a chemical/skin check and questioner. My feet have been through it the last couple of years (sports) and I wanted to get serious about caring for them properly, not just getting them painted. Of course, I turned to Yelp for the scoop and zeroed in on Ms. Glen's Therapeutic Manicures & Pedicures. I finally got a chance to go see Ms. Glen and it was everything I wanted and more. It was relaxing (I fell asleep)! It was restorative! My feet felt and looked healthy and cared for. I didn't get polished which is great because I have been wanting to go natural for a while to let my nails breathe and focus on what's really happening with my toe nail health. So may things I loved (in no particular order): - Very communicative from the appointment (via phone) to the confirmation and directions (via text) - Ms. Glen greeted me at the door - The studio smells divine (really sets the tranquil mood) - The studio was intimate (just me - yay) - The space was very clean (I am a stickler for clean) - There was a complimentary water waiting on me - Ms. Glen has developed her own techniques and products which speaks to her dedication and specialization (I love people who are passionate about what they do!) - Every step of the treatment was appreciated! (very detailed, very attentive, think - pampering your feet from the in-depth massage to the parrafin to the soaks to the grooming and much much more) - I got socks! This was such a special and much needed last step that I never knew I needed. It made my feet more comfortable and protected after such a beautiful treatment. She even asked me my size. How's that for customer service! - Now this one may seem trivial but I never had to hold my feet up during the treatment unless I was transitioning from the bowl to a towel. I do not like having to do that while someone attends to the bottom of my feel or heels. Ms. Glen has it worked out where I can truly relax the whole time. I also left with one of Ms. Glen's therapeutic hand and foot oils in Lemon. She makes the oils herself! It smells so good and leaves a refreshing but not overpowering scent. It feels good oiling my feet every night. Like another reviewer said, this is not your run of the mill pedicure shop. This is a therapeutic service that is worth every penny. My goal is to make this a regular treatment. If my feet are healthy, I am healthier! Thanks Ms. Glen for such a wonderful experience! I'll be back. And thanks again for the massage therapist recommendation. Rest and recovery, here I come!

If your feet are in need of TLC, renewal and restoration, Ms. Glen has a carefully curated service that will leave your feet feeling brand new. I had recently purchased a soap that helps with skin discoloration. It hasn't been making any improvement in the uneven skin tone and dark marks on my feet. Turns out I just needed an appointment with Ms. Glen. The exfoliation she provided literally rubbed away 15 years from my feet. My dry scratchy heels were left supple and smooth and the calloused areas were left soft. Had I known what I was in store for I would have taken before and after pictures. She even provided socks for me to leave in, to seal in the moisture. My favorite part hands down was the massage. She kneaded into these tired soles, and I needed that! I paid a little more than the price listed (which she does quote as a base price) but she also spent almost 2x the amount of time listed. My Fiancé noticed the difference in appearance and feel immediately. I intentionally waited until 24 hours+ had passed to write this review, wanting to see if my feet would feel just as nice. THEY DO!! Ms. Glen definitely puts pride in her work and I love how she checked in throughout the process to ensure I was satisfied along the way. I recommend her service to anyone looking to give their feet a more youthful feel and look. And if your feet have severe issues that might keep you from visiting open public salons, her private suite will help you feel comfortable and secure. Right before I left, Ms. Glen threw in a bottle of her therapeutic hand & foot oil once she saw how dry my hands were. I had discussed my upcoming nuptials with her and she wanted to make sure my hands moisturized properly for my big day, even providing a demonstration on proper application. Ms. Glen is a gem!

I trusted the front desk staff to guide me, and was quoted $80 for Gel-X, builder gel removal, and French tip. At my appointment on Friday 7/18, I was unexpectedly charged $110! I was told the card on file couldn't be used for the service--only for late fees or no-shows--which made no sense. If the salon can charge the card for penalties, why not for the actual service being provided? This was especially frustrating because the appointment was a gift for a huge accomplishment of mine, from my mother, so of course I didn't have the physical card with me. On top of that I was also charged extra for nail length without warning, and billed twice for polish: $20 for gel color and $15 for French tip, even though I only received 1 design; french tip. When I asked for clarification, staff just pointed to the online pricing--but I booked in person to avoid that confusion. The experience felt misleading. I intentionally came in person to avoid confusion and relied on the staff to guide me accurately. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. If you're considering booking here, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for more transparent and customer-friendly service.

Cheapest gig downtown. They have a good selection of colors which is always cool...OPI. Works for me. They do an ok job. Not amazing and not the worst I've had either. They are also open 7 days a week. $22 for mani-pedi combo (not spa though). Seems weird that they even offer the non-spa services. One would think it would just be easier than bringing buckets of water to a person. I'd vote for the water hook-ups every time. read more
