Went here with a group for a birthday weekend. We made reservations well in advance so we were all able to be seen at the same time. I received the Cass pedicure and regular gel manicure. BEST foot massage I have received in years! Love my pedi! Manicure is pretty good. Not their fault since my nails were not in the best shape when I went in. Good clean up job! Had my favorite color. Walked out of there feeling beautiful! I can't really say it was too pricey since it seemed like the average price these days. You have to try them! read more

Such a cute salon in quaint downtown! Stopped by to get my nails done on vacation and had an incredible experience. Really nice interior and massage chairs, plus very high quality gel and regular polish. I did a gel mani and regular pedi and the spa versions were very nice. What I look for in a nail salon: 1. NICE PEOPLE 2. CONVENIENCE: They take walk ins (appointments recommended but not required) 3. HYGIENE: The shop is super clean and all tools & equipment are sterilized between uses 4. PREP: They really prep the nail before applying color-all dead skin and excess cuticle is trimmed away, the nail is buffed smooth, the hands and feet moisturized and ready for a clean coat of color. Nails are trimmed to the shape you want 5. TECHNICAL SKILL: Color (whether gel, dip or just polish) is applied in several thin coats for a smooth unlumpy finish. The polish is not applied so thickly that it looks weird and like your nail edge is too thick. This shop gets a 4.5/5 on all counts. It's a tad pricier than other shops but then again I was getting a Dip manicure (using dip powder for the color rather than gel). That's more expensive than a plain polish manicure(abd far more durable. My manicurist was Julie and she was terrific on all counts. The shop has only been open for about a year. It's around the corner from Hartnell and Cass. Treat yourself to a mani/pedi and then go to the lussier bakery on Hartnell by the post office for a hot drink and one of their amazing chicken curry sandwiches on a fresh-baked croissant. The service itself was very nice. However the quality, not so much. I got dip nails and they literally began falling apart one week later, they also had bumps and flaws. The pedicure I got was supposed to be stronger polish than traditional nail polish, that began falling apart about 2 days later! Ugh! The price I paid I expected quality! Disappointed. read more

Unfortunately, I'll have to update my review. I used to live in Monterey and this place was my go to. I was in town visiting for a few weeks and decided to get a gel manicure and pedicure. Oh boy what a mistake that was. I was shocked that they charged me $103 for the quality of service they provided. The pedicure was an ok pedicure. The issue was the manicure. Where do I begin. The employee clearly didn't know how to evenly file my nails. She was clearly in a rush because it was the end of the day and they were closing. Mind you my appointment was at 5:00pm. It's been only a week since I got my nails and they are already chipping and look like I got my nails done 3 weeks ago. I have no issue paying that price for stellar service, but be sure to provide quality training to your employees. I'm anxiously waiting for my nails to grow out to go back to my usual spot where I now live. If you're visiting Monterey or wanting to try a new place in the area. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. read more

I had the best experience at Nails on Cass St. I was recommended by a friend who also comes here. I got a gel manicure from Kathy, I didn't know which color to pick so she helped me choose. She was so friendly and kind! The ambience at the salon was so welcoming and relaxing. I went right after work on a busy day so I was exhausted. The entire time I felt so relaxed that I almost took a nap. I've never had a manicurist pay so much attention and time on shaping my natural nails. I went in the other day and was very impressed with my Shellac pedicure! Tony offers pure entertainment while you sit back relax and enjoy your treatment. The spa pedicure tub was filled to the brim with hot water (not luke warm) so my feet really got to unwind and my tired feet left their clean new shop revitalized. Really disappointed with this place. My sister and I used to love coming here when it was Nail It salon, but after yesterdays experience, I don't know if we will be coming back. To begin, we both went in for gel polish changes which are usually cheaper than the normal gel manicure. Unfortunately, we were both charged for the same price as the full gel manicure. Second, the more I look at my pedicure, the more I notice how bumpy and uneven it is. Super disappointing considering that the pedicure was $48. Other than this, the staff was very nice. I love this place. Great pedicure with a massage. My only complaint is that I've been to another location that charged me $18 for the same service, here I paid $30. I couldn't tell the difference between the pedicures and massage. I've been here twice, the second lady did a better job than the first one. I decided to try Nail It based off of the reviews on Yelp and because I was tired of going to the mall to get my nails done. I'm patting myself on the back for making this decision because the experience was awesome. I called first to see if they took walk-ins and they do. The salon is small but the employees are very friendly. I was seen right away for Pink & White nails and the woman who did them did an amazing job. Because it wasn't busy, I felt like she really took her time to focus on the quality. It was $40 for the service. Next time I come to get a fill I will definitely be getting a pedicure as well. This place is DA Bomb!!! We had originally gone to SunShine Nails in Seaside and waited till they opened up at 9:00 however no one showed up till 9:45. However the person that opened up was only doing a haircut and offered to "call" someone to come and do our mani/pedi for the 3 of us. Well...I don't know about you but 1 person to do 3 customers would have us in there for a very long time. We then called Nail It Salon and they took us in within the hour after hearing our predicament. The ladies here are friendly, nice and really accommodating even though they were busy. My husband enjoyed his pedi while my SIL and I had a complete mani/pedi so we can look fabulous at our niece' wedding. This will be our Go To place when we come into town. There was an annoying soap opera on the tv, the staff seemed annoyed at one another, my manicurist lacked attention to detail and the gel polish was lumpy. This review is solely on the pedicure! That said it was one of the best pedicure experiences I have had. The thing that sets them apart is the massage chair you sit it while your having your feet worked on.. OMG.. This state of the art chair has a fancy LCD remote and air bags that inflate to cradle your body while the massage part kneads those knots thru out your back. I was blown away. Now as far the the pedicure procedure goes, my nail tech was Maria and she was great. She trimmed my nails just the way I like them and smoothed out any rough edges with the file.. I would give it no stars if I could.... None of these people were fit for this job. These people were rude, gross, and just bad at their job. None of them seemed to care about anything but what was on their Instagram or on the Television. I have told everyone I know never to come here and I will continue to so if I here about this place again. So I went in 2 days ago to get a manicure and the woman insisted that I got this certain kind of nail polish because it was vegan, didn't chip, and lasted way longer than the others. She didn't tell me that it cost more money...I had to see on the check that she charged me $8 more dollars for that nail polish. Leaving the place I look at my nails and see what a terrible job she did and just thought I wouldn't go back again. I go pack there again today to get them fixed because EVERY NAIL has chipped. I gave them my nail polish I brought from home because I wasn't doing that other stuff again and they were just evil to me. This different woman doing my nails kept watching tv and running to the back of the shop every 10 seconds to take a bite of her food and come back still chewing, with junk on her hands, to finish my nails.
