I am a gay male and stopped in this location with two other family members for mani pedi's. While there I ran into Tony a male manicurist, that I have known for many years from another salon. I consider us acquaintances and friendly. We visited and said hello. Tony was busy so I used someone else's services. When it was time to rebook I called and asked for Tony and was told that it was store policy that men could not be worked on by other men. It's horrible to think that this type of homophobia still exist in 2019. I encourage all socially concise customers to go elsewhere. I ultimately ended up booking somewhere else. We moved to la quinta several months ago and we have tried different nail salons, but didn't like neither until we found this salon it's nice and clean and a big area. Plus this salon offers all kinds of services from massages to waxing and facials. Not only is the staff very friendly and professional they also offer you a bottle of water, excellent job on my sister and my nails. They actually listened to the customer and they new what they where talking about. Very funny and friendly staff, we will definitely go back cause our nails look amazing. I would recommend making an appointment when you do go, cause it does get busy. Loved how you check in with your phone number, very easy and simple. The positives: Quality of work by technicians is high. The owner demonstrates pride of ownership and runs a well organized shop. Guests are greeted promptly and the pedicure chairs are comfortable. Despite these wonderful qualities, I still would not return even if someone PAID me and would further rate 0 stars if I could. Unfortunate Experience: From the moment my daughter and I walked in we felt unwelcome. We were made to feel as if our business was not wanted. That should have been a red flag. At first I thought it was a mere miscommunication as I changed my request at time of reservation from an ombré french tip to a simple solid color. The owner kept insisting that it was I who was confused ... which was confusing to say the least. The associate at the front explained to her I changed my mind. The owner apologized however things just went downhill from there. The first older woman who assisted with removing the existing dip was SO rough, I had to signal a couple of times that she was hurting me (her nails were digging into my skin and the drill was up really high so it burned). Her demeanor was also very cold - not a single smile or any engagement in small talk (though I did try). While talking is not required, silent treatment is uncomfortable when a guest is simply asking about your day and trying to be friendly. Needless to say, I was relieved when my nails were set to soak in foil instead and I was moved to start my pedicure. The next technician shamelessly looked me up and down quite judgmentally and then started working silently without asking which pedicure package I wanted or if the temperature of the water was ok (it was cold but I dared not complain ). I had worked 7 days straight with limited sleep and wanted to treat myself so I decided to splurge on the most expensive pedicure. I sat back, ready to relax but soon realized it was not going to be that kind of experience. The technician insisted on cutting my nails despite my polite requests to please just file. The technician literally rolled her eyes and started speaking about me to her coworker critiquing the unevenness of my nail lengths and my ridiculous decision to not cut them - wrongfully assuming I could not understand. When I responded to her co-worker that my decision to NOT cut my nails was intentional, I hoped they'd catch on that I in fact understood and would stop. To my dismay, the trash talking and side glances continued (moving past dialogue about my toes to other more entertaining judgements) and the technician started to give side eyes to my daughter who was adjacent to me. I cannot explain with words how extremely uncomfortable that made us. I literally wanted to leave. Resisting the urge to cry and deciding to take the high road, I continued to speak politely and let them finish. I could not help but notice the first older woman was now laughing and getting along fabulously with the new client in front of her. Maybe she's a regular and a favorite I told myself .... but couldn't shake the feeling. The pedicure technician was incredibly rough as well and literally rushed through what should have been their most relaxing and deluxe treatment. She even mocked my voice (I'm very soft spoken) at the conclusion of her services to her co-worker. I've never been so hurt, disappointed and embarrassed. The unprofessionalism was so profound that I text the owner to advise I would never again return to her establishment. I wonder if staff would have treated me so crassly if they knew I was an accomplished bank executive who speaks six different languages and tips generously for a job well done. ‍ But why should any of that matter? I'm a human being (and paying customer) - should that not be enough? There were ample opportunities to turn our experience around and it was most disappointing to see them squandered. Moral of the story is two-fold: treat your customers with dignity and respect (kindness and decency go a long way) and NEVER assume by someone's race/appearance that they don't speak or understand your language. I sincerely wish I could have offered a more positive review however the the anguish and humiliation we were subjected to was too egregious to leave unaddressed. Perhaps this review will encourage the owner to provide staff with basic customer service training. It really is a lovely establishment otherwise. read more

Please don't go here for a manicure. I went for a mani/pedi. I have no complaints about the pedicure, I'm very happy with it. The manicure is a completely different story. I asked to keep my natural nails and have them oval shaped. The lady who did them did not introduce herself, so I don't know her name. She did not completely remove the navy blue nail polish I'd had on. She was not looking as she was cutting my nails and did very mininal shaping. My nails came out unevenly shaped, had air bubbles and indentations. I got the attention of the front desk gentleman, who fixed two nails with bubbles by applying additional nail polish, now they have streaks and are chunky. read more

Where do I start? Walked in, requested dip mani, gel pedi. I get seated. When I choose my nail color she tries to talk me out of it. Showing me others. No thanks. I want what I chose, if you don't have it please state so. (She made it work.) Next, she uses the drill on my nails to remove polish...I had regular polish on. As a licensed cosmetologist I know this is not necessary. Acetone will do. She then proceeds to prep for the dip application. I ask, "Aren't you going to clean up the cuticles?" She says, "You don't need." And shows me my hand. Obviously, if I'm requesting a manicure, I want a manicure. Cleaning up the cuticles is part of a manicure service. (I wonder how many poor unsuspecting clients they cheat out of this step.) She ends up doing it. And then drills the nails AGAIN. I tell her I want round nails, similar to the shape I walked in with. (Trying to break out of my norm shape.) She gives me Square with rounded corners. Whatever, this is typically the shape I get. I'm fine with it - although it wasn't what I wanted. I got no massage for the manicure. My pedicure was fine. Although, looking at the gel application now - it's a little messy. (Different people) Finally, at the end of my service - when I'm ready to pay, I'm told cash only. She (different person than who did my manicure) grabs my card and says, "Debit?" Me: "..yes.." her pointing to atm machine: "okay, cash only." Wtf? There where no signs ANYWHERE about it being cash only. Nor did it say online that it was cash only. I ask if the atm machine charges a fee. She says she'll remove the fee from my total ($2). As I'm pulling money out to pay my services I state that they should have it displayed that they're cash only. At that point says it's okay to pay with card... as I'm pulling the money out of the machine. As an accountant, the shadiness of the "cash only" situation made me think the worst... but I'll keep those comments to myself. I paid what was asked and tipped what I felt was appropriate (20% for my pedi and 10% for my mani). Overall, I walked out feeling gross, and cheated. The pedicure was the only good moment. I use to love this place when I lived in the area. I'm sad to say I've had one of the worst nail experiences I've ever had here now. read more

After reading reviews, I made an appt with Jackie to get my nails jazzed up. When I entered, Tammy (mngr) asked what kind of design I wanted. I showed them a pic and they had me started. I was seated and a different tech who seems to be a trainee (Michelle) started on my nails, which is common practice esp when the specific tech is working on another customer. But Michelle ended up finishing my nails and Jackie never showed up. That was off-putting. I wouldn't have minded anyway if they had explained to me but they didn't, which is what turned me off. It's prob bc the design I wanted wasn't difficult as it was simply putting a stone on each finger. But I ended up having to return for fixes a couple times bc inexperienced techs don't know how to place or attach the stones properly for them to stay put. Last attempt, Jackie did the fix and all my stones have been in tact since, a whole month after! She clearly knew what she was doing. She also explained she usually does acrylics/more "difficult" designs. I don't think Tammy or anyone had bad intentions, they were doing what was best for business, which ends up being best for all their customers too. Jade did acrylic on one of my nails and she was awesome. Knew what she was doing and left my nail looking on point. They do speak in their native language even during your service, but I doubt they're gossiping about you. During my service, I witnessed a diff customer mocking them to their face about them speaking a language other than English. I was SHOOK. Some of the women working there may not speak English fluently but to flat out insult someone like that (esp when the dynamics are customer vs servicer), is distasteful. I wanted to say something to that customer but since I'm also Asian, I didn't want to escalate the situation into a race related thing. The way the women working at Nails World dealt with the rude comments was commendable. They kept their cool and continued to give that customer the same good service that they gave everyone else. I think this shows their professionalism. I see complaints about Tammy on here but she's actually great. Sometimes she doesn't "look" friendly imo since she's not always smiling/bubbly, but she's always professional and willing to make her customers happy. I went in for 2 Volcano pedis during their Independence Day promo and noticed I hadn't received the discount. Both the male mngr and Tammy were open to resolving this. Sign up for their promos! Based on my experiences here, I'd say most of the techs here are pros and have their customers' best interest at heart. One tech, however, left me feeling turned off. My mom and I came in for their Volcano pedis (totally recommend!) and when we were browsing the menu to decide which one to choose, a tech who wasn't even working on either one of our pedis told us that the others were "sold out" and that we should go with lavendar. I wanted a diff one on the menu but when I asked about it, she told me that the ones in the basket were the only ones available. I looked over at the basket and saw a couple other ones and selected from the ones in the basket since I thought the one I had originally selected was "sold out". To my surprise, that wasn't true. During my service, I asked a diff tech when they're going to restock and I was told they weren't "sold out" of the one I had originally wanted. I was very turned off by this. This wasn't a language barrier bc the one that told me it was "sold out", was one of the younger women that spoke better English than the others. This won't stop me from returning to the salon as the other techs here are pros but I will def avoid her in the future. Overall, Nails World is professional and have more options that others in the desert valley in terms of nail designs. read more

Nails World is spacious, welcoming and open on Sundays! It's a full-service salon that always takes walk-ins, with only a short wait on their busiest days. I get a gel mani and hot-stone pedicure. They wrap your arms and legs in warm towels and give you a neck massage, too! All of my gel mani's have lasted more than 2 weeks (sometimes 3!!) without peeling or cracking. AND THEN STILL KEPT TRYING WITH THE FAKE NAIL. until I told her I wanted the soak off instead and after she soaked it off I saw how damaged my nail was, she tried to buff it out but instead made my ACTUAL NAIL COME PARTIALLY OFF. And then tried to put nail glue on it. And said it'll heal it but I said it could get infected and she still kept trying after I said no. After all that she still made me pay the full $10.
