I've been getting my nails done for 17 years, and this is honestly the first time I've ever felt compelled to leave a review. That's how happy I am with my experience today. My regular nail technician is traveling, so I came here just wanting to give it a try. I was actually a little nervous because I've had some disappointing experiences at other salons before--sometimes the work felt rushed, and I've even had my skin cut and bleed. But Tan, the owner, completely changed my experience. What normally takes about an hour, he spent nearly two hours doing. He was incredibly patient, gentle, careful, and detail-oriented. He never rushed and made sure every little detail was done beautifully. All of my worries disappeared. After 17 years of getting my nails done, I can genuinely say this is the most satisfied I have ever been--not only with how beautiful my nails turned out, but also with the service and the entire experience. My hands may not be perfect, but Tan made my nails look absolutely beautiful. I'm so glad I decided to walk in and give this place a try. Thank you, Tan, for your patience and beautiful work. You've definitely earned a new customer!

For Fiona Fiona did my pedicure and she was amazing! She was very gentle, friendly, and took her time. My feet and toenails looked so clean and beautiful afterward. I'm very happy with her service and would definitely recommend her! For Scarlett Scarlett did my manicure and she did a beautiful job! She was very careful, professional, and paid attention to every detail. My nails came out so pretty and neat. I really enjoyed the experience and would definitely come back to her again.

Great first time experience. I wanted to try a place closer to my home. Found Nailspa excel and appreciated the good reviews. I arrived a few min before opening and they were already taking customers. That was perfect for me because I was on a time crunch. I got seated right away and Scarlett helped me. My go to salon. The atmosphere is nice and they keep everything clean. All the technicians are pretty consistent and do a great job no matter who you get. Today I had Scarlett & Anna and both did an excellent job, were friendly even helped with my photo. I always get a gel manicure and regular pedicure, my color lasts the three weeks I come. I often bring my daughter to get her nails done when she is in the mood. She loves getting regular nail polish and designs she usually chooses and they always come out super cute!

They listened to what I wanted for an event and results were excellent! Will definitely come back!

Had the best experience at Excel! I came in for a walk-in. Went in the morning time and was told it'd be 10mins as they already had clients. They then sat me at their counter and proceeded to complete such a great cat eye set for me. Usually I am extremely picky about shape and if my cuticles look cleaned up, however the guy that helped me was very thorough and super kind! Asked many questions about the shape and if I felt any pain, was very clear on the price differences, and even recommended gel x over acrylic ($10 cheaper) for the sake of my nails. Overall 10/10 experience and they'll definitely have me as a future client.

Scarlett did an amazing job! Not only did she repair my broken nail but she also did a fantastic job on the cat eye polish I requested. Everyone was very nice and were able to accommodate me last minute.

This is not what I asked for as a customer. The nails are too thick and look more like press on nails. I did request for them to do it over which the manger sent me a message with a bad attitude and told me they didn't make them thick. Pictures don't lie. This is my first time coming here and my last. I've been to many nail salons and Nailspa Excel is by far the best! Tan is always so welcoming and attentive to all your needs. I love the wide selection of nail colors available to you and it's nice that they are all organized and at the front of the store so you can look and decide while your station is being prepared. I appreciate that all the nail techs wear name tags so that you if you like how someone does your nails it's easy to remember their name for next time. This nail salon is also very clean and doesn't have a weird smell like at some other salons. All the nail techs are great and really listen to your requests. read more

She took her time to make sure everything was perfect, and when I decided I wanted them a little shorter, she fixed them right away without hesitation. I did not want Jill and the lady kept trying to upsell Jill. I don't get Jill. It's too difficult to remove and the price is too high. Second of all I have fungus underneath both of my big toes. No one in the salon needed to know that yet, the lady who was very rough and hurt me several times made sure everyone in the salon knew also they don't have the machines to dry the nail polish. Alas! I experienced the best manicure and pedicure of my life. From being greeted, to being led to the pedicure massage chair, to the perfect candle wax temperature, the soothing feeling of the warmth from the hot stones, to the fresh minty feeling of an arm & leg mask, the detailed attention given to each nail from start to end, to the SAME amount of time given to each foot for callous treatment (you know cuz in other places they'll spend a solid minute on one foot & then they'll just do a sec of the other foot), to the message chair that adjusts to your body & height (I'm close to 5'1" & in most pedicure message chairs I don't get that neck and shoulders kneading because they're designed for someone who is taller than 5' obviously lol), and to the chairs' feature to adjust the width (small, medium, large) and the height (low to high) of each person to get an even and relaxing body message. The BEST of this experience was the cute charisma between Holly & Helen while working together. They genuinely made me giggle & laugh. PLUS, they complimented me in every single characteristic of my persona that they thought was pretty. That was adorable. p.s. their nail tools are all sanitized, their working carts are clean and dusted, and their whole establishment is well tended to. read more

Stay away from this salon. Really horrible Gel-x set. Uneven, used gobs of glue, cut the side of my finger. When I complained about one nail being crooked, the nail person argued and got mad. Super bad attitude and no customer service from anyone. No one was friendly or helpful. Pedicure was fine, although the person who did it wasn't friendly either. read more

Now the bad: The price for a massage is reasonable, but you must pay an additional 39.00 if you want a to use their lockers or robe, take a shower or use the jacuzzi. This was unexpected and confusing. Before arriving, I had called for clarification of this policy and was only told that they would charge 39.00 for use of the jacuzzi. I had no idea that I wouldn't be given a robe or allowed to shower without paying the extra fee. I'm in a spa club and I have never run into this issue before. This confusion may have been due to a language barrier. The shower area has a sign saying that you must run the hot water for 10-15 minutes to obtain hot water (!). I did so and still had to take a cold shower because the water never got hot. The only towels available are very small and very thin. They are not large enough to wrap around your body. The jacuzzi area shows deferred maintenance with broken tile, missing robe hooks and mold/mildew on the ceiling between the jacuzzi and the showers (ick). This review is directed specifically at Tan, the business owner, who intentionally overcharged me, displaying a complete disregard for communication, professionalism, and honesty. If I could give this salon -10 stars, I would do so gleefully. Tan, your behavior as a business owner is nothing short of appalling and it's time that you enroll in some basic classes on business ethics, customer service, and professionalism. This was my second visit to the salon, and it will certainly be my last. Furthermore, I will actively discourage all my friends from setting foot in your establishment and instead urge them to seek out businesses where their patronage is valued and respected. Earlier in the day, I called to book appointments for myself, my sister, and my mother. During the booking process, I specifically inquired about the prices for each service. I was quoted $27 for basic pedicures (for myself and my sister) and a total of $62 for my mother's services ($35 for a gel manicure and $27 for a pedicure). Imagine my utter shock when I was presented with a bill totaling $119 for my mother's services alone. Not a single person in the salon mentioned any additional charges beforehand. I was overcharged for every aspect of the service, including shape, length, and a $30 fee for the removal of a prior gel mani pedi, without any prior notice. Furthermore, Tan neglected to inform us that the gel color we chose only came in powder form, resulting in an additional charge. When I confronted Tan and requested a breakdown of the pricing, he became defensive and emotional, claiming this is his standard practice. However, I have never encountered a nail salon that charged such exorbitant fees without prior notification. In other service industries, such as fast food establishments, customers are informed of additional charges before they are incurred. Had I been given the opportunity to accept or reject these charges beforehand, I would have made a different decision. In conclusion, my experience at your salon was nothing short of a nightmare. Your deceitful tactics, lack of professionalism and communication, and complete disregard for integrity have left a bitter taste in my mouth. I implore anyone reading this review to steer clear of this salon, unless, of course, you enjoy being subjected to unethical business practices and unreasonable charges. **UPDATE AS OF BUSINESS OWNER'S RESPONSE: the business owner alleges that he reported us to the police dept. LOL reported me for what--asking questions, writing a negative review, warning other patrons? I paid for me and my mom's services ($147 receipt attached) and my sister, who paid separately, tipped your employee generously. Tam, it's pathetically ironic and hypocritical of you to assume we come from another country when you yourself are an Asian immigrant business owner who cannot speak fluent English. This is why we had miscommunication in the first place. I was never rude to you nor did I raise my voice. As a paying customer, I have every right to ask questions about my bill when being overcharged in the end without prior notice or communication. But anyways, GO ahead and "report" me lol. I hope that helps you sleep better at night. As previously mentioned, I will never attend your banal business establishment again. My manicurist was very nice, did a good job on my nails, and they had a great color selection, which is something I really look for in a nail salon. I had no complaints about my manicure. What left me uncomfortable was what happened at the end of my appointment. As she was finishing up, my manicurist asked me to leave a 5-star Yelp review. At first I thought, sure - the service was good, so I didn't think much of it. Then she asked me to make sure I uploaded photos. She asked for my phone and took several pictures of my nails to post with the review, which was definitely a first for me. I went along with it because I was told I would receive a discount for leaving the review. After I posted it, though, she asked me to make the review longer and even gave me suggestions for what else I should write. I edited it and then had to show her the review, apparently in order to receive the discount. She also asked for my phone so she can check me in... By that point, the whole thing felt extremely uncomfortable and forced. I deleted the review as soon as I got to my car because it didn't feel like an authentic review that I had voluntarily written anymore. The experience has bothered me ever since, especially because their Yelp reviews and customer photos were part of what influenced me to come here in the first place. Now I'm left wondering how many other reviews were written under similar circumstances. Again, I have no issue with the actual nail service or my manicurist personally. she was kind and did a good job. My concern is specifically with the practice of asking customers for a 5-star review, offering a discount for it, taking photos for the customer to upload, asking them to make the review longer, suggesting what to write, and then asking to see the finished review. If this is being done routinely, I think prospective customers deserve to know that when considering the rating and reviews. read more

Always the best at NailSpa Excel. I usually see Karina or Tan for my nails and they both do such a great job. They take their time, they are patient, and show precision from start to finish. For a pedicure my husband and I see Holly and she is the best!!!! Today, I saw Anna and she did such a great job. I had seen here around the shop and today I gave her a shop and she was so great. Beautiful, clean, spacious. I am big on atmosphere and I loved the experience I had here. Came in a few days before Christmas in need of a relaxing evening and was so pleased. Love this place. They are under new management and have the sweetest polite and professional Staff. New ownership has revamped this place making it a nail spa LaVerne needs. They are clean and up to speed with designs and looks. Prices are affordable and on par. Will never go anywhere else! read more

I love getting my nails done here!!! I usually go every three weeks. I get both my hands and feet done -- and they always look amazing! I'm obsessed with the massage chair too. I usually get acrylics (or gel extensions) -- they last so well and always look perfect. read more

I soaked them to get them off and they still would not budge. I had to cut them off and soak again until I finally got them all off for a new set. The retention on these were amazing! The only downside was the price, $95 for a gel x set is a little crazy. But I mean, you get what you pay for. I always have issues with nails popping off and I could say these were definitely not popping off without wanting them to. The staff were very friendly as well.

I've continued booking with him because I really do love his work. Unfortunately, the customer service side of my appointments has become increasingly uncomfortable. Michael's attitude can come across very rude and dismissive at times, and my most recent appointment was uncomfortable enough that I finally felt the need to say something. I understand everyone can have an off day, but this has happened more than once and seems to have progressively gotten worse. I also feel the salon could improve with time management. Appointments can run behind, which I understand happens in this industry, but it has happened enough that it's worth mentioning. I work in the beauty industry myself, so I completely understand busy days, difficult schedules, and that we're all human. But I also believe that when clients are paying for a service, they should feel welcomed and comfortable during their appointment. I really do love the quality of the work here, which is why it's disappointing to feel this way and why I hope the customer service improves.
