I love Nailtastic! I am actually surprised by the lower than expected rating because this is certainly one of the better nail salons I've been to in Chicago and many I didn't like are rated higher. So far I've visited three times and everyone that worked on my nails- Oka, Rosie, and Soko- were all kind and had an admirable attention to detail. The price is on a more reasonable side and the hygiene is good too. Every time I go, it's a very relaxing experience. The salon is on a quiet side. The only downside is that for some strange reason, even though my nail looks good immediately after, the manicure doesn't last long without chipping. At one point it chipped so fast (3 days after) so I had to go back for a touch up. They were super kind and the service is good so I am still going to go back, but if there's a way to make the manicure last longer without chipping that would be great. I got the hot stone pedicure and it was super relaxing. My nail tech was attentive to detail and made the experience truly enjoyable. She talked me through everything that she did which I always appreciate. The hot stones were cool, especially since I had never done them before. I'm not sure how beneficial they truly were, but it felt good, so no complaints. As for price, I booked my reservation through ClassPass so I'm not sure how their typical prices run, however, the service was definitely worth what I paid. This was my first time here . I was curious to try because my primary nail salon was already booked. Anyway, I made an appointment for a pedicure/manicure. The pedicure was okay . The manicure was where it went wrong. The woman who did it was going really hard with the nail file , so much so that at first it completely came out of her hand and landed near my wrist. I wasn't bothered by that we just laughed it off. However, as she continued filing she started filing my skin on two of my fingers. As you can imagine it burned and my hand pulled back . Unfortunately, I was uncomfortable the reminder of my appointment because of the stinging sensation on my fingers. I was disappointed to say the least and the staff and overall feel of the salon is just cold. Will not be coming back and cannot recommend. read more

Guys, I've found my go to nail salon!! So ecstatic. It only took 6 years, but im not leaving this place unless I move. I've been here twice. The first time was in June of this year. I wanted something fun and bold for my bachelorette weekend. I showed them some examples and they delivered something even better! I wish I remember the girl's name, but she was excellent! Accommodating and reserved. I got the no chip manicure and paid $40 something with tip. The second time was the week before my wedding. Once I got there, I told them the pedi and mani are for my wedding (no pressure now...), and the lady went into a room to grab a lady. I got paired with Jen. I don't know if she's better than the rest, but she spent almost 3 hours. Which I thought was pretty long and did a thorough job. I got something pretty simple, white for my mani with almond shaped nails, and whitish pink for my pedi - both no chip. She gave a back and hand massage too. I paid $110, that included tip and some cost for removing my nail polish from the time before. Best part. They STAY. The no chip lasted more than 3 weeks. Both times I made a reservation beforehand. Showed up on time and was seated right away. The facility is clean and brightly lit. People aren't the most chatty which I prefer since I don't care to talk while I'm there. Apparently it's BYOB? I hope one of my gfs get engaged soon and we can come here for a shower/bach activity! read more

Wish I could give zero stars. This place is NOT clean and two of their nail techs (Soko S. and Sonya E.) should have their licenses revoked. Their terrible sanitation practices gave me FUNGUS! I went to this salon on December 13 and saw Soko S. for a no chip pedicure. Two weeks later, I went back on December 29 and saw Sonya E. Sonya took off my no chip gel and it was clear she could tell something was off. She took a moment to inspect my big toe nail but then continued on with the service by cutting and filing the rest of my toenails. I didn't think much of it since I was on my phone. But then when it was time to put on the gel nail polish, I took a glance at my toes and noticed a large pale yellow/whiteish spot on one of my big toes. I thought this might be left over gel that wasn't properly filed off. I asked Sonya if she was going to finish taking off the gel. Sonya told me that discoloration was my nail, not gel. Then she touched the discolored spot on my nail and said it was soft.... I looked closer and asked her if it was an infection/ fungus/ bruise. I thought I might have stubbed my foot on something. But then I rationalized that if that were the case, my nail would probably look bruised and purple/dark red. Sonya just shrugged. I asked Sonya if it was maybe a fungus. Again, she had nothing to say. I told Sonya that I had been to their salon two weeks before. Yet again, Sonya had nothing to say and just shrugged. She tried continuing with the no chip pedicure. Clearly, all she cared about was continuing the service so she could make money. I had to tell her NOT put any gel on my nails. After paying and tipping, I immediately left and went to an urgent care clinic where a doctor confirmed my fear. Toenail fungus. I asked what could be the cause, the doctor immediately said it was from a pedicure / going to a nail salon. I later called the salon to speak with a manager. The girl on the phone said a manager was not available but that she would pass along my message and that a manager would contact me soon. It is now about a full week later and I still haven not heard from a manager. I have been to salons all over the city (both high end and low end). I have given myself regular nail polish pedicures at home. I have given myself no chip pedicures at home. I have NEVER had an issue. There is no doubt in my head that this salon does not follow proper sanitation practices. Because if they did, I would NOT have fungus on my toenail. What's worse is Sonya could tell something was off with my nail and still wanted to give me a pedicure. That must be against protocol. She should have stopped the service. Instead, I had to tell her to stop. There are regulations galore to be licensed and it's clear this salon and their techs don't properly clean. read more

They have one basic pedicure and you can either get your nails regular or non-chip. I went with the normal polish and it doesn't look bad. I started out very impressed by the wonderful attention to detail my technician had. Unfortunately, the morning after my manicure, the dip completely popped off of one nail. I went back to the salon a few hours later to have it fixed, and they double checked the rest to make sure they were ok. Immediately after I got home, the dip started popping off all but 2 of my other nails, and it's starting to pop off these nails as well (including the one that was just fixed less than an hour ago). Very disappointing to spend nearly $70 on a dip manicure that lasted approximately 26 hours. I would not recommend this salon for dip manicures. read more

It's a nice place--they're clean and they do a good job. However, I think it's overpriced for what it is and you can walk a little further for better pricing. I paid $80 for regular pedicure + gel French manicure, and then $10 more for tip (so $90 total). One thing that did strike me as odd was that they didn't show me the iPad or give me a receipt to add a tip (I just tapped my phone for Apple Pay) so I assumed it was already included in the price as I wasn't presented with any options to tip. Later, I get a text from the salon demanding that I tip my technician....I just thought that was weird, like I'm happy to tip of course but I wasn't given the chance to select an amount on the iPad or write an amount down on the receipt and I don't carry cash. tl;dr- nice/clean but definitely overpriced, remember to get your tip in somehow or they will hound you lol read more

I was excited to try this place since it's right next door to my office (so convenient!). I went to get a mani on Monday and not even the next day, my nail polish started to chip. Came here to get my gel polish taken off. They told me it would be $15 or $25 if I got a manicure on top of it. I ended up just getting a clear coat put on and was still charged $25 ($30 with tip) which I felt was a lot for what I had done. Saying that, this is a very clean salon and my nail tech, Ann, was super sweet and attentive. I was serviced right away and they have a great selection of colors. One thing that bothers me about a lot of nail salons is that they charge an extra $5 for "long lasting" polish which is pretty ridiculous when the bottle of polish $10. I had a truly terrible experience at Nailtastic today. My no chip manicure was awful - bumpy, streaky, ragged around the cuticles, uneven, etc. It was the nail tech's first day on the job and she even agreed it didn't look good. So the entire thing was taken off (a process that takes a long time) and since I had been there for 1.5 hours already, I was out of time to get it re-done; simply didn't have another 45 min to spend. I did not budget 2+ hours to get my nails done! When I checked out, there was no offer of a discount on my pedi. Instead, I was told they were not charging me for my manicure -- as if that were the discount. Ummm, right. Because there IS NO MANICURE. So of course you are not charging me for the manicure. I had to argue to get a small discount. Ultimately, I spent an extra 45 min spent there, ended up with no manicure, and my nails soaked in acetone (to get the terrible polish job off) for no reason. So, all in all, I left with my nails WORSE than when I came in. Total fail. While I understand mistakes can happen, the issue is the terrible customer service at the end. read more

Disappointed to have to write this review as I've been a long-time client of Nailtastic however my recent experience has forced me to no longer be a client. I got a no-chip manicure and pedicure (full price) right before leaving for vacation. Sent the following email to Nailtastic 5 days after my no-chip manicure: Yesterday was 4 days since my no chip manicure and 8 out of 10 nails have peeled. It's unfortunate as I'm on vacation. If I weren't I would come in to show you. In any event, I thought it important to share this feedback as it was not up to the standards or norm. Perhaps the polish or sealant has expired? I've had enough no chip manicures to know that this shouldn't have happened and felt important to share. By the time I was back from vacation and able to come in for an appointment, I was offered the following "we need to charge you as Regular Mani, because it's been a long time since we talked. Or we can do polish change for you , which does not include cuticle cut and massage etc. (shape and polish only). That's all I can do as of now. Please let me know. Thanks. Having been a customer for 3+ years with no history of complaints, I would have expected a no-chip manicure at no charge. Sadly, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Nailtastic is one of my favorite salons in river north. I've been coming here since they opened almost three years ago, so this is a very overdue review. Things I love about them are their extensive nochip polishes, great music, vegan and organic polishes and all the technicians do amazing job. I never worry about getting anybody inexperienced or unprofessional as they are always nice and on top of everything from helping me with my shoes to offering wine or tea every time. Oh also they let you tip on credit cards, that's a big plus for me because I rarely carry cash. One thing to be aware is that they get really busy during lunch time so make sure to call ahead. read more

I'm about almost 7 months pregnant and there is literally nothing better than sitting down. Okay, well, maybe there is. How about sitting down in a massage chair and getting a pedicure? Yep - that's it. Nothing is better than that. This nail salon is more than meets the eye and is probably the best mani/pedi experience I've had in a long while! 50$ got me the basic option of both. After 3 days of travel and a work conference I was wiped out... momma needed a hot second! This hit the spot for sure. My biggest thing about pedicures is the massage portion - this was the best I've had at a salon!! Firm, not terribly long, but effective. The pedicure time frame was long enough to totally relax and enjoy it - but not long enough that you would get antsy. I was then brought over to the manicure station which was comfortable and thoughtful with a dish for my rings. They had a device under the desk for my toes to keep drying in. A sold job and a nice hand/arm massage there too. I did see other patrons get a little neck and shoulder massage as part of their experience, which I wasn't offered. Believe me, I would have taken them up on it. I few minutes at the separate nail drying station and I was about to leave. They asked if I wanted my toes wrapped so I could put on my boots and socks. What?! I'm such a California girl I was confused, but this is brilliant. Event though my toes were pretty dry, they used plastic wrap to protect them from my socks and boots - so smart in a cold/rainy climate! I unwrapped them once I walked a few blocks back to my hotel and they remained perfectly polished. Maybe a new after Yelp conference tradition for me! read more

I was greeted when I walked into the door. The Studio has a lot of natural light and is very clean. I was seated immediately after selecting my color and the nail technician was very polite.
