A great place for coffee or tea in downtown Chico. Seating can be a premium. I wish they had more places to sit intimately, as opposed to table seating. I had one of their green teas. My only complaint is they scorched the water. It was way to hot. Sit back, enjoy your beverage and admire the eclectic art on the wall that gives the place its name. read more

Very nice customer service and what looks like a nice range of fun drinks. However, my decaf latte was really just bad-- so bad I did not drink it. Lots of places have bad decaf espresso, so it might just be that offering that doesn't work. I would be up for trying something else in the future. read more

Couldn't ask for any better coffee shop! This place serves as a home away from home, office, meeting room, a place to meet new people, and more for me and many others. Yes this place isn't for everybody, but I've seen every kind of people you could think of in there, a homeless, a family, a starving artist, a rock star, grandparents, professor, and the list goes on. In my opinion it is what you make out of the experience that counts. As for barista, I've knew lot of them. There are some that I can't say I exactly like, but hey! That's why those barista are so good at what they do and make Naked Lounge a unique place! They don't feel the pressure to serve every customer on their knees like commercial coffee shops. So this makes the experience even more interesting and different for everyone! Barista at Naked Lounge are uptight? HAHA!!!! Let see someone work at commercial coffee shop try to steam their tie with coffee machine, allowing a model taking her top off (not the bra mind you!) and revealing her pierced corset for a group of photographers, having a barista draw a heart in latte for you and call you "love", or a hot tattooed barista with a nasty attitude to keep you on your toes. This is one of the best coffee places around. Just walking into Naked Lounge, you see comfortable couches, beautiful artwork, and a wide variety of people- yes, including hipsters and the such, but also including local artists, moms, and everything in between. Naked makes amazing drinks, and while at times the baristas can be a tad snippy, they're always willing to help. I'm sure they don't want hoards of teenagers coming in all the time, but when my friends and i come in, they don't seem to mind that we sit there for hours on end, doing homework or just talking. an amazing place! read more

I honestly don't know what the big deal about this place is. I have to walk by it everyday on my way to and from work and I always get a nice staredown by the scenester crew that lives in the front of it, like my hair is too blonde to even walk down the same street. I have friends that live by this place so occasionally I will go and get drinks here with them, but my drinks are always mediocre. I specifically recall a really horrible chai tea latte (my favorite!) that was so bland I didn't even finish it. I also have no idea why anyone would go here to read- it is so dark in there I feel like a bat in a cave. I'd have to bring a reading light to make any headway on my book. The people who work here are pretty nice for the most part though so I give it 2 stars. Maybe if I go through an extreme emo phase I'll add a few more. read more

Nice place to get some work done. Noise level is just enough of a background buzz to keep your brain working. Drinks seemed a bit expensive. Lot of cozy areas to chill or tables to get some hardcore work done. I got a hot chocolate in the middle of the summer because why sweat a bit if you can sweat a lot. The whip cream is as good as it gets! This place is expensive which I'm surprised being that it is in Chico, but whenever I am there I always get the white mocha--heaven in a cup. I used to really like this place a few years back. Fun atmosphere, cool baristas, the regular patrons even showered more often! But a couple of visits recently has changed my mind. A group of my friends and I popped in late one night to catch up. We were lucky to score the back room to ourselves considering the place was rather busy. The drinks and service were great, though I've heard better things about the mexican hot chocolate I got but whatever. Well while we were all kicking it in the back, a group of gypsies came in, I swear to god they were gypsies. They all came to the back room where we were and threw us dirty looks since we were already occupying the space. They decided to set up camp (hehe) in the little seating area outside our room that had just became vacant, and we soon understood why-they smelled. BAD. We're talking Queen Elizabeth 1 bad (she supposedly only bathed three times). Well soon our room got stunk up, so we had to leave. The dirty looks they were still tossing our way turned into joy when they bum-rushed the room before we had all finished walking through the threshold. They hadn't even ordered anything from the place, I was kinda wondering why such gross people who weren't even putting money into the business were allowed in. Well last week I stopped in to get something hot while shopping downtown on a rainy day. I had to wait a few moments for the baristas to finish up their conversations before I could order which sorta irked me-I'm cold and wet and want a hot drink dammit! When I got my white mocha I was quite unimpressed. I got no coffee or white mocha-or even just mocha-taste out of it, it just seemed like warmed, sweetened milk to me. Sad face! I'm sad this place isn't as great anymore. At least they still had good art on the wall. And someone else mentioned in another review that the patrons have a staring problem and boy do they! I'm sorry I'm not wearing plaid flannel and showered that week. Jeeze. I kept getting stared down while getting a lid for my drink last time buy a guy sitting RIGHT behind the table, creeped me out! I'm soooo sorry for killing the damn environment with one little piece of plastic, I just wanted to keep my drink warm and not have it spill on me while I was walking. At least the crowd at Starbucks is less judging, sheesh. read more

if you can get past the less than intimidating hipsters greeting you before you enter, you will be on your way to getting some really...really... good coffee. believe me, it's difficult to get past the regulars there, but the baristas are welcoming and the coffee is phenomenal. go down the street to peets, or around the corner to starbucks, and you're only letting yourself and your two bucks for your americano down. in addition to that, the music they play is randomly awesome; one day they were playing wu-tang, the next day they were playing folk music. but seriously, dont be afraid of the people outside. they're nice people. read more

I have been to Naked Lounge about 7 times total in the 2 months I have been in Chico. I really want to like this place, it has a nice location and a cute venue but unfortunately everything else falls short. Naked wants to be the cool hipster shop in town and perhaps they are but the overall feel is honestly just not very friendly. The owners are slow to smile. The employees (including the owner) have consistently gotten my order incorrect the past 4 times I went there. Not only did they get it wrong but when I confronted the barista one specific time she responded with a smart attitude and said "well you want what you want", walked away and then never returned. But I still wanted my drink fixed so I went to the owner, I was kind, respectful and told the owner my offense, her immediate response was to say "noted" and then proceeded to walk away without fixing my 6 dollar drink. For a place that charges so much, to inaccurately make my drink over 4 out of 7 visits, then respond with attitude from the owner, followed up by poor poor latte art I honestly do not see the appeal in this hipster cave. I think the owners are more concerned with being cute in their beanies, and chattering with their employees than they are producing a quality and incomparable coffee experience. It's sad too, because their espresso is quality but unfortunately it's canceled out by their lazy drink making, arrogant attitudes, and careless customer service. The two stars are for the venue and location. That's it . I suggest visiting some of the other coffee places in town before wasting your money at this one. read more

The best barista coffee in Chico by far and probably the best and most skilfully-prepared cups anywhere between San Francisco and Portland. This great venue of coffee talent is ruined by the worst imaginable playlists--the stalest, most tired sorts of blues, soul, r&b that you'll hear anywhere--the same 20 tracks over and over. A Rainy Night in Georgia often three times in one hour. This wreckage is played at high decibels too, because [be warned!] The Naked Lounge is the local hipster hangout--not ordinary hipsters, mind you, à la Portland, but *Chico* faux-hipsters in their zoo--more leavings to go with the stale blues. On these two damning counts, think Dante here, the overall atmosphere sucks out all creative life from the human soul. The kindest word to apply to this place (I'm trying) is "clueless." read more

It's not really a conscious choice anymore. If I want a good strong pick-me-up in the morning with about the same chemical potency of battery acid I go to the Lounge. If I don't have anything to do and I'm downtown I swing in. It's just such a part of my life, and there's nothing I can do about it. A pretty social coffee shop, if you can get there in the morning it is a hard place to beat. The Espresso (cap, latte, etc.) is really the best in town, skip the drip un less you're just looking for a decent cup of coffee for energy. Suggestion, try their Gibraltar. It's a twist on the Mach that is pretty damn good. read more

I have been a regular at The Naked Lounge since I moved to Chico almost three years ago. A few months ago I would have given the Naked Lounge a rave review. However, the changes that have been made recently are leaving me lukewarm about the space itself. Still have great coffee and friendly staff, but the lighting is now almost non-existent. There have these old fashioned bulbs hanging from the ceiling that are cool looking but offer NO light. Most of the room is really really dark now. And they replaced several of the couches and chairs with trestle tables lined with metal chairs with no backs. NOT comfortable or inviting in any way. One new area is completely in the dark! AND, it is almost impossible to find an outlet now to plug in a computer. In speaking with the staff I discovered that I am one of MANY with the same complaints. I am so hoping they listen to their customers and bring back the old seating, lighting, and electrical outlets. If not, I may need to look around for another more comfortable place to hang out and that just makes me sad. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. The coffee is not all that good and they change it rarely. I have bought bags of beans here, made them at home and they were OK. Cheap for $10 a bag and a free drip coffee so that was fine. Also, I know that credit cards are expensive but to charge something extra for using one is a little cheesy and leaves a bad taste in the mouth, so to speak. I am guessing that if the owner were reading this, he would have all these great reasons as to why he does it and why the credit card companies are evil, but it's just cheesy to do that. If the charge is even 3 percent of each transaction, why don't you just build it into the price? No one will notice if they are paying $2.50 or $2.60 for a cappuccino. But they will notice your quarter of 50 cents extra (I forget how much it was) to be punished for having credit. Staff not so friendly either. But on the plus side, they know how to make an espresso drink right although the underlying coffee may not blow you away. read more
