I'm not a local but have been here a number of times over the past few years. In the past the coffee has been about average, but at least they brewed it reasonably strong and it was pretty consistent. Now they offer pour-over coffee (brewed to order) and fresh roasted beans from a local roaster, in addition to what they have always offered (machine-brewed coffee, stored in vacuum flasks). Came in on a recent weekend morning, waited waaaaay too long for weak, over-extracted, expensive pour-over coffee. My mistake; I should have stuck with what I knew. read more

If you enjoy a local non commercial cafe with a very positive, comfortable environment, if you think for yourself, ride a bike, enjoy long walks in the park and love great coffee and teas this is probably a stop you should make. With lots of plush seating and free wifi its a great place to study or check out what Cosmic Kev has to say in the synthesis. The pumpkin pie latte was really good and better than Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, in that it was not as sweet. They also had the frozen hot chocolate that was a bit too rich. The atmosphere is both relaxing and fun. read more

Great atmosphere, excellent place to hunker down and do some studying or work, and the service has been quite good for me so far. The only reason I don't give five stars is that their coffee was sub par. I got an espresso and their house coffee on two separate occasions, and I was not impressed with the quality (both tasted burnt and bitter). Got a blended white mocha, it tastes like sour milk. I don't taste any white mocha at all . The staff was friendly so I have an extra star for that. Also was bummed because they put the gluten free pastries in with the gluten ones. I have celiac so I have to watch out for cross contamination of gluten, so even though they have a gluten free option people that actually have the disease can't have it. The coffee is the best in downtown Chico! You can't go wrong with how the taste is comparably speaking to other options. The staff is friendly and personable, which is a plus. The atmosphere is really sweet and very laid back. I don't give it a five star rating because, while it is a great environment and great coffee, more tables rather than couches would be a little more preferable. Sometimes it is hard to find a table to do homework because there aren't many tables to choose from. That's my only knock against Naked Lounge, but if you could care less about atmosphere or lack of tables and just care about coffee. Look no further. Best cup in downtown. read more

Great place to read, promise, also for picking up random conversations and learning random things. Atmosphere has changed and either look is well fitted for it's motive. I've enjoyed many days there, and now that my "writers block" is acting up the old memories of the friendly people and good drinks all come back. Naked Lounge rocks in Chico and Sac! Naked lounge Chico is a gem in the Chico coffee scene: it's surrounded by Peet's, Starbuck's and other inferior chains. The vibe is perfect for relaxing after a long day, nursing a hangover, or studying all day. The inside is bare brick wall with assorted art, usually some for sale. The outside has two tables with extra wide chairs. They carry fresh doughnuts and baked goods, loose leaf teas and all kinds of coffee accessories, as well as cold bottled drinks. My favorites here are the iced latte, cappuccino and Bowl of Soul. There are usually plenty of seats for relaxing and vegging out, but getting a drink to go is a must before leaving town. read more

If you are in Chico, this is the spot for espresso. Has a bit of an over-the-top vibe as if it's trying to be a bastion of hipsterness in the Northern Central Valley. That said, the ambience is good for reading/studying/conversing, and you can't get a latte as good north of Sacramento (until you get to Portland, perhaps?). read more

When we walked in my husband was helped right away. The staff was super knowledgeable and could answer all his questions. When I first saw the naked lounge I was stoked because it reminded me of a local coffee shop in my home town in Redlands Ca called Augie's. Unfortunately it wasn't like Augie's at all. The coffee is okay. The decor is nice, but the service and the whole atmosphere of the place is just...off. I feel as if I don't belong there and I feel like everyone in there is looking at me like "who are you and why the hell are you in MY coffee place?!" I felt very uncomfortable there, but sadly I didn't get my coffee to go so I had to sit on the couches and finish my coffee, along with the judgmental glares. If you want good coffee and a welcoming environment, I would suggest Empire Coffee, or even Cafe Culture would be better than this. read more

The Naked Lounge does seem "NAKED" after all because there isn't much furniture that covers its floor. Also, it's a lounge that serves no alcohol. So, if you would like to have a sober bachelor party, I say "Go for it my fellow yelpers." Ok, here is an interesting thing I came to know about this place. It used to be a strip club once upon a time. I don't know if it's for real but that's what I know, having talked to some locals there. The limited furniture that they do have in there looks outdated. I definitely hope they aren't from the strip club era. By the way I have never seen a shoe chair/sofa or whatever other than in a gaming parlor. I thought it was weird they actually had one here but the people seem to love it. Alright, this place has a wide selection of coffee, tea and bottled fruit and veggie juices. I am pretty sure they don't have freshly squeezed banana or melon juices so you may want to try the Jamba juice if that's what you did like. It's a pretty happening place in small town Chico. You'll find a lot of students either studying or just having a good conversation. I would have given it a better rating if not for its shabby decor. Also, I recommend you try them atleast once because their tea was really cool and I guess you could say "NAKED," I could see thru it. read more

I used to love Naked Lounge, but no more. Today I ordered an iced latte with almond milk. It cost $5.00 and was undrinkable. I left it after a few sips and went to another coffee shop. The new owners have covered the beautiful mural with a wild hodgepodge of ugly photocopied flyers so the ambiance is completely changed as well. Add to that the unfriendliness of the shop owner and, well, I will find another favorite cafe. read more
