I worked at a barbecue spot here in the valley for 10 years and none of the meat/sides etc touched this place. The meats really are the star in this show, there's no fuss just really well cooked meats. I got the combo with the brisket, pulled pork and ribs. Brisket is among the best I've had, all of the sides are really great. Max and cheese and potato salad were special. I'm so happy to see a local place thriving. The brisket had 00000 flavor. It tasted as if it was almost boiled. The cornbread has corn in it. The chili beans were decent. The pulled chicken was good, tender. The banana pudding tasted like out of the box. The Mac n cheese was decent. No flavor but it was moist. Over all I threw the whole plate away it was disgusting. Super friendly staff. I think watching them and how they interacted with the customers was one of the best aspects of our experience. They were kind and courteous and very attentive. The owner was talking and asking how our food was and he is a super friendly and honest person which sets a nice precedent for a healthy business. In terms of the food I like the fact that they leave off the sauce to give us the full meat experience. I liked the ribs and pulled pork. Sauce wise, the sweet sauce was probably my favorite. The spicy takes a bit to get that burn feeling but pretty good as well. The brisket was tender which was nice as well. We did get a couple of hard to chew pieces. Personal opinion is that the brisket was overseasoned with salt on the outside. Sides wise, slaw was good, potato salad was ok. I like that they served broccoli with garlic. Love love love naked bbq! I've tried the brisket, chicken, pulled pork, hot links, and ribs. It's all so tender, no sauce needed but if you like, there's 2 choices as well as mustard and a dry rub. It's very casual inside, no frills or fuss here. Oren the owner really cares about his customers, he makes sure to ask for feedback and loves his regulars. There's a chalkboard sign on the wall with the name of the first customer written each day. Unsweetened watermelon iced tea really hits the spot too. Not my thing really, but one Saturday I went in late and Oren insisted on a maple bacon donut on the house. It was amazing! Not overly sweet and heavy, and the bacon was perfect. You just can't get any better than this. And that's regarding BBQ and just a restaurant in general. Randomly found this place when trying to find a place to get dinner. I couldn't have had a better welcome, getting served by the owner Orin. I wanted to try multiple meats but didn't want all the sides, and he recommended getting it by the pound instead. Saved me money and got me what I actually wanted. Food was delicious. So delicious I took my family back the next night to try more of it. It was all amazing. Orin is an awesome dude, and so is his staff. I found myself chatting with him about BBQ, past careers, whatever. I glad that I decided to give Naked BBQ another try because they improved a lot since my last visit. I did want to try the brisket because that is how I usually judge BBQ but they were out of brisket so I tried the turkey. THE TURKEY WAS REALLY AWSOME! It's really hard to flavor a turkey breast just right and keep it moist. The turkey had many flavors going on with it and was smoked just right. It was delicious! Just like last last time my husband really enjoyed the pulled pork he said it was very good. I thought the pickles and corn muffin were really tasty. (didn't need the hot bbq sauce but it was also very tasty) The coleslaw was very improved. It was fresh tasting, a little sweet and pretty drip free. After reading the reviews I was eager for lunch. We were the first ones in today and surprisingly staff just stared at us as we entered. I elected for Ribs and chicken with a mac n cheese side. Food was fresh and hot, drinks were self serve, and price was very reasonable. Pulled pork was by far the best, mac n cheese was very good as well. Ribs and chicken were cooked perfectly but had zero flavor without BBQ sauce. I don't believe they cook with much seasoning which may benefit to people that like to add their own. I expected more from the chicken as it appeared to be marinated in a sauce but it too was flavorless. They had a few different sauces which I wasn't much of a fan of but may appeal to others. What ever sauce you choose is the flavor your meat will have and I'm not really a sauce guy. The potato salad was different but not bad. Good BBQ joint my husband and I stopped by while on our way to Sedona from Cali. They serve the meats "naked" without BBQ sauce and you can add how much sauce you want after you order. We split the 2 Meat Platter ($15) which comes with 2 meat choices, 2 sides, and 1 mini cornbread. I think it may be a bit over priced (but comparing it to Phils BBQ tickler plate in SD) but the quality of the meat is good so that makes sense. I had been wanting to try this place for quite some time and we finally indulged for lunch this afternoon! Super duper convenient location right on Bell Rd. Plenty of ample parking in a little strip mall. Got there around lunch time this afternoon and thankfully, everyone in the place had already ordered and gotten their food - so we got there at the perfect time! Yayyyyyyyy! I went with their 2-meat platter and opted for ribs and brisket. In addition to the meats of your choosing, you can opt for 2 sides and I went with beans and mac 'n cheese. AND in addition to all of that, I got a little corn muffin and pickled pickles and onions. Plenty of food for an average amount of cash money. The ribs were honestly among the best I've had. Now I'm prefacing that by stating I'm not from Texas. I'm not from Kansas City. I'm not from the dirty South. I don't proclaim to be the King 'o BBQ. Everyone who says these ribs are really good will be, like, "OMG!! You don't even know what real BBQ is!!!!" Maybe I don't. But I know it's considerably and significantly better than any ribs you'd get any chain restaurant so at this point in time - I am proclaiming that thus far, these are among the best ribs I've had. The brisket was equally good but I'm not a brisket connoisseur... but again, it was extremely good. Juicy, flavorful, moist and grilled / smoked to perfection. If you haven't figured it out, it's called Naked BBQ because the meat comes naked - no BBQ sauce. You have your choice of sweet or spicy. I grabbed my lunch to go and smothered the meat with sauce when I got home. Back to my lunch... the sides were awesome. The seasoning on the mac 'n cheese was delicious and the beans had just the right amount of smokey flavor. I would not hesitate to come back here to grab lunch or dinner to go. My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent customer service, friendly faces and plenty of food. I would not hesitate to recommend Naked BBQ to fellow Yelp'ers, family and friends. It's 7:00... we walk in and a guy says " hey so you know we are out of brisket " . Since we have been told to go here for the brisket we are, needless to say, disappointed. Naked bbq looked like a regular chain bbq joint that has mediocre bbq. I assure you that this is not one of those places. Naked bbq has blown me away with their quality and consistant bbq time and time again me and my wife have been here 5 times on our own and decided to have them cater our rehersal dinner. Their brisket from the point or from the flat is always smoked to perfection. It has the perfect balance of Smokey with a subtle perfect spice in the background. I always get this when im here. I always get the sliced brisket from the point The smoked chicken is unreal never dry and has an amazing smokey flavor. This is a must try but I must admit I get this from time to time. Their ribs.... Unreal and always perfect. The flavor works well with the flavor of pork. It is amazing with what they do to these amazing cuts of bbq. The hot links are okay in my opinion. My wife loves it and she gets it all the time. It has a little bit of a kick rightfuly so and I will sub my chicken or ribs for this. For their sides we always get their mac and cheese and veggie of the day or double mac. If you havent tried their mac and cheese do yourself a favor and give it a go. All in all for the limited amount of QUALITY bbq spots in az this makes my list of my personal top 3 bbq spots. read more

I regret coming here. Literally nothing was good. I had ribs that had all fat and no flavor, how does that even happen? Potato salad and beans were bland. I liked my first meal. Picked up a two meat combo for $16. They plated my to go from a warmer and I was thinking it would be dry. Nope, I heated it up a few hours later and not dry at all. Selected two sides. Potato salad and Mac and cheese. Again, I had low expectations for the mac as it was not creamy looking. It was delicious! Flavor was on point and noodle was cooked well. Only two negatives....1: maybe a little heavy on the pepper. Not sure if I can ask to lighten that shaker. 2: location is tough. Bell is such a busy road, if you're coming in from I17 then you have to hope the traffic gives you room to turn in left across traffic. But the dry cleaners is best in North Phoenix so I'll be eating BBQ every time I have dry cleaning to do! read more

Having spent three months in Austin, TX late last year, we hit all the big name Austin BBQ restaurants - - Franklins, Stubbs, Salt Lick, Terry Blacks, etc. and I have to say that Naked BBQ's brisket is as good or maybe even better than the famous Texas joints! The brisket is so tender and tastes great without any BBQ sauce. Though I really like their "sweet" BBQ sauce. Plus, their Mac 'n cheese and Cole slaw are great side dishes! We have not been to the Naked BBQ in Scottsdale but I understand their food is as good as the "original" Naked BBQ restaurant on W. Bell Road. read more

But I'm sure glad we were here first!The owner offered us some burnt ends and we also got the best cuts of brisket I've seen in the area besides pork on a fork. Super happy with the quality of the brisket. I have been back 3 times since and I can honestly say it has not been a consistent experience. Brisket has definitely been hit or miss for me. It's amazing most of the time but I've had some pretty flavorless dry pieces as well. I will still continue to support this place and it's potential! We went back and ordered the plates instead of the sandwiches (see my previous review for a HUGE bonus tip prior to ordering). The brisket was PERFECTION!! It was not too moist and not too fatty. It was perfect!! The meat was FIVE STARS for sure!! This time I ordered the potato salad. I never had potato salad with the skin on. They were russet potatoes with skin on and they were, in my opinion, a bit undercooked. I didn't like the skin on in the potato salad. It was simple with mayo and just a few celery pieces. We will go back, but I won't order the potato salad again. I also ordered the macaroni and cheese again. Last time it was quite dry. My hubby ordered the mac and cheese and I could see that it had more cheese sauce so I ordered it again this time. When I say cheese sauce, I mean runny cheese sauce that doesn't stick to the noodles, not thick hearty cheese, which I would prefer. They have quite a few sides to pick from. I am not sure I will order the mac and cheese again either. I am going to try the other sides next time. The corn bread was really good!!! Maybe I'll just take sides of cornbread next time!!
