The Naked Turtle has a reasonable menu, nice atmosphere, and beautiful view of the water, but none of those are the reason why I go back year after year. The reason I keep coming back is their monster hamburger known as the "Turtlezilla"! It's 32oz. of beef, as well as numerous slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato, 4 pickle slices, and the largest hamburger bun you will ever see! If that isn't enough, it also comes with a side order of fries. The burger costs $25, and you get a free T-Shirt if you finish. You also get your picture taken and posted on the wall. I didn't eat there so I'm only reviewing the condition of the bar and its surroundings. The men's room smells like a urinal that was never cleaned. If they take that kind of care with a place the public sees I can imagine what kind of sanitation they practice in the kitchen. Waiter brought out the wrong order, then told our group that they were out of the rib eye,at 6pm...so a party ordered the ribs instead. 3 of us got our meal, finished and then they brought the ribs out. I have been so underwhelmed by the Naked Turtle in the past I have not been in nearly two years. We decided to give it another go. Things started off well with a very pleasant host. He offered us a choice of indoor or outdoor seating; we opted for outdoor seating. The menu seemed more streamlined then I remembered so my hope was they might be focusing on the quality of what they offered; something that has been lacking here for as long as I can remember. Next came the waitress who went through the motions of being attentive but seemed very disinterested. We picked up on her peculiarities of talking without making eye contact, she would look past us out to the marina, and the way she would ask the typical questions of needs or satisfaction without waiting for our reply (as she gazed past us toward the lake). Her behavior was very odd and had us chuckling. Her odd behavior actually turned out to be the highlight of our evening as the food has still not improved. It baffles me how a restaurant on the lake can be so bad for so long. Outdoor seating on the lake is not enough to compensate for such poor quality food. My girlfriend and I ate at the Naked Turtle end of last week. It was absolutely horrible. If you're looking for uncooked nachos and stale tasting chicken, this is the place. We ordered the nachos to split, and more than HALF the cheese was uncooked and was just placed on there straight from the shredded cheese bag. Not to mention they were $14 and $2.50 for the guacamole. Absolutely not worth it. Then we ordered the chicken basked with french fries and it got even worse. The chicken tasted disgusting, like they cooked it let it sit for 7 hours then heated it up in a dirty microwave. The fries were so over greasy they were slipping out of my hands. We did not eat any of our chicken we each took ONE bite out of ONE finger and gagged. Was still forced to pay for it. Overall horrible experience. The restaurant itself was cute. If you want to eat stale plastic like chicken, and a plate of shredded cheese with pricey guac, on a cute deck I suggest this place. read more

Good serving sizes! Excellent service. We had took what we couldn't finish home. Fish tacos, bacon burger, chicken strips, and fries were all great. We sat on the back deck with the marina view and lake breeze. The only thing that could be improved was our sodas. They were pretty flat and when we returned it the waitress wasn't surprised. read more

This establishment provided the worst dining experience that I have encountered in a long time. My son for his dinner ordered a bowl of clam chowder. It was filled half way at most and I doubt that a single clam made its appearance. My scallops were overdone, the veggies were overcooked, and the mashed potatoes were pasty. I thought that a mai tai might ease the pain but the strange concoction placed on my table had no ingredients that I could identify and rum or other alcohol were definitely not among them. Although once you find this place ,seemingly cool to be near the marina , I found the parking to be haphazard and the entry awkward. (It was like walking on to someones large patio.The best part of this place was the outdoor seating because the inside is a bar atmosphere ( not where i go to eat) . Food ...not great ,way too pricey for the quality. Service ...inconsistent to say the least. The place is fine if your there to drink and listen to music , don't care about how food tastes , and have all night to stay there otherwise there are much better places that serve great food and customer service is number one . Nice atmosphere being on the lake. Very busy on the weekends and staff hussle around with little concern of cutting customers off and consistantly bumping you tring to move around. Met up with HS friends for a "reunion" Service was absolutely terrible. Had to deal with 2 different hostess' and neither had a clue what they were doing. I was left by one while she just abruptly stopped talking to me and took off with another party. We ended up seating ourselves and therefor had to flag down a busser after waiting an hour and no service..not even a drink order. Finally got a waitress to take a drink order, deliver them and then she disappeared for 45 minuets and had to ask again to be served (have our food order taken) Food took over an hour to get to the table, one persons order was forgotten about and she had to consult a manager about it and was told her order would be right out...40 minutes later..she still dind't have her order. It finally showed up but in the meantime another couple with us had their table bussed about 5 minutes after getting their food.( one had brought children to the bathroom and the other had to go back to the bar to get drinks for the kids) When asking the busser what he was doing he then attempted to take the plates back out of the full bus bucket and give it back to them GROSS. It was just overall a horrible serving experience. Food was ok once everyone finally got it but I def won't be headed back anytime soon!! read more

The only thing that the Naked Turtle has going for it is the view. This is our second time here and we figured we would give it a second chance after our food was awful during our first visit. Our second time visiting we decided to go for drinks in the afternoon. The hostess told us that we had to get our own drinks from the bar if we sat at a table on the deck. Never have I been to a restaurant that a waitress wouldn't wait on you even if you were there for drinks. There were only 4 other parties on the deck at the time so it wasn't because they were too busy. One star for the outdoor seating with views of the water and boats. No stars for the food. Starting with the iced tea, which was old and bitter. Took about a half hour to get our food and the place was only about a quarter full. Cold French fries, absolutely tasteless chicken sandwich with barely anything in it, horrendous chicken wings previously frozen and breaded, tasted like nasty old grease and the sauce was just gross. Being a local I have able to try the fair at the turtle a few times. Service is hit or miss. As for the drink menu they offer fun mixed drinks and good IPA's on tap, but you will pay top dollar for them. I was ready to rip this place apart because our lunch was horrible on the Sunday before Labor Day. However my friends still decided to go there for dinner and they had a fabulous meal. It is all about atmosphere but Jenna the waitress needs to go get another job to get her through whatever she is in. She had quite the attitude. What a terrible time for me and my friends tonight. Really i have never had to good of a time at the naked turtle. So i was on my boat and pulled in and the guy says it will be 8 dollars to get a slip. I thought that was a little steep considering I would be using their establishment but i paid. We went and put or name down for a table. Its 2018 and they use a notepad for their wait status. Strange but they say the wait will be 10 minutes and then another 10 minutes ten minutes later then ten minutes later they say it will be 15. I have 2 young kids with me and i just paid 8 dollars to park my vehicle. These kids are getting hangry. So the kitchen is backed up and the wait staff is behind. I order a pizza to be delivered to wilcox dock instead and say peace out. I go to get my slip refunded and the young man who greets me says no problem. Then some older guy with knee brace comes out and is very rude. Says "you can't get a refund here". When all i did was come in and ask the guy snapped too and gave me immediate attitude. I'll eat the 8 bucks and never go back to save my money. Plattsburgh boat basin and the turtle have terrible customer service. Whoever the old man was working on the gas dock on 06/16/2018 should be fired terrible customer service and what a way to not retain customers. Do yourself a favor if your traveling by boat and look up dana's rusty anchor or dominic's at treadwell bay or even whatever is a at breakwaters. NON of those places charge to park your boat when eating and the food is much better. Plus some old dude with a power complex won't be there to give you attitude. I really enjoyed the Naked Turtle the few times I have visited. It's nice and on the water. It can be a bit cold at night, but the view is great. (Thankfully they have heaters even when you're outside!) It's a good place to have a few drinks with snacks. Maybe listen to some music from a band at night.
