The quality of the meat was pretty good, but not enough for 5 people (menu said it's usually for 3-4 people so plan to order more for a larger group). The egg soufflé came with the combo and you can choose between soy bean soup or kimchi soup. We went with the kimchi soup (not pictured) and it was decent but wish it were more spicy. 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND -- zero stars If you are thinking about going here or are already waiting in line, change your plans now because this restaurant is a scam and should not be allowed to be in business. SCAM #1 - We came here before the opening time and was told to put our name on a waitlist so that we wouldn't need to wait later on. Turns out the waitlist did absolutely nothing, and we never got the promised text message alerting us when our table was ready. We ended up having to wait outside for 25 minutes, watching other people NOT on the waitlist get seated before us. SCAM #2 - Once seated, the server wouldn't allow us to place an order for another 10 minutes because the kitchen was supposedly backed up. When were able to finally order, he informed us that we had to order a minimum of 2 portions of one meat before being allowed to order another. Nowhere was this stated on the menu, so the prices you see listed are actually just for 1 portion. The restaurant is essentially forcing a table to spend at least $80 if you're doing BBQ. SCAM #3 - The two of us ordered 2 portions of the beef brisket and 1 portion of the pork jowl, which came out to about $120 (extremely expensive). When the meat came out, the plate it was on was basically a salad plate holding a few pieces of very thinly sliced meat and 1-2 pieces of random vegetables. It honestly looked like meat you would get at a hot pot restaurant. We were so shocked by the small amount that we had to ask the server to confirm that this was everything we ordered. The meat was of poor quality and nowhere near being worth the price they charged for it. We finished the food quickly because of how little there was, and left feeling extremely unsatisfied, ripped off and hungry. This was one of the worst meals I have ever had in my life. When we first sat down and looked at the menu it was very deceiving because the top option was $179 per person, we almost got up and left. As you move down the menu it has group options but the $179 per person had us so stunned that we thought the $159 group price still meant per person. We clarified with our waitress and we're not worried anymore. The meal was enjoyable. Everything was so well seasoned and flavorful. The different kimichis that came out were the highlight of my experience. My friends could not stop talking about the kimchi stew and steamed egg! The ambiance was chill. The spot to go to, if you are craving for Korean BBQ. My partner and I are both born and raised in Korea and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the meat/side dishes they had to offer. That they had small buzzers to call servers (which is universal in Korea) anytime was a very nice touch. We also had a pleasant chat with our server in Korean, and I could tell he was very motivated to provide the best quality and service to anyone coming through the door - Always a very good sign Compared to Koreana, yes it can be a bit pricier, but the fact that they use charcoal adds another dimension to the meat flavor. I echo the same sentiments as many of fellow Yelpers here: decent food (and likely one of the better KBBQ in Boston area, which does not say much because the KBBQ scene is abysmal here) but because it's highway-robbery levels of overpriced & crappy service, I will not be coming back. We ordered the large beef combo for $190, it comes with 5 different assortments of beef so roughly $40 per protein. The menu notes the large combo is for 3-4 people, but I could've easily ate it all myself. Pay attention to the number of bites of beef you're actually eating for each protein per person...I popped the few slices in my mouth and thought wow that's $40 right there, BOOM..another few slices down my throat and KABAM another $40 out of my wallet. You can literally taste how overpriced it is with each bite because portion sizes are so small for the price. The meat wasn't anything to rave about, it wasn't bad, but I thought only the hanger steak and beef rib was remotely memorable. I was ecstatic to find Naksan servers cook the meat, because who pays $$$$ prices to cook it themselves? However, it was also a detriment because our server was flat out bad. She was not social at all yet stayed at the table the entire time making the experience super awkward. There are two options fro you, Miss Server: if you're going to stay at the table the entire time at least be social, if you're antisocial then leave the table while the meat is being cooked and give us butterflies some room to socialize. Nope. You'd think the service would be attentive since she was there the entire time, right? Wrong. We asked for extra banchan (side dishes) and did not get them until we asked another server. The drinks took forever and it wasn't until we reminded her twice that she went and checked on it about 30 minutes into the dinner. The rice was also missing, we asked for it once, but never received it. She also did not know the basics of grilling 101: she slammed the tongs on the meat emptying it of the juicy goodness, as well as tossed the raw meats on the grill pan before it was even heated up. I wasn't so ecstatic about server cooking our food anymore after this experience. On the bright side, the seafood pancake was decent as it was made thin and had a good amount of seafood. Another hiccup here as the pancake came uncut, so I asked if there was another pair of knives or scissor that can be used to cut it up; she did not even flinch and used the same pair of tongs and scissors she used to handle the raw beef to cut up our pancake. Seriously? Cold noodles in bone broth was great, as was the cold noodles in spicy sauce, with the latter being slightly heavier because it was too saucy. Nothing new here, just another KBBQ disappointment in Boston. read more

I'm sad to say it but this place is absolutely mid. The decor is really nice and I was so excited for it to open but honestly it's not worth your time if you're not nearby. There isn't variety in the selection of meats and what there is wasn't worth the price at all. To top it off this is a full service joint so can't cook it as you please. The waitress we had didn't so much as say hello to us and divided the food amongst us herself. Basically, if you have any experience in KBBQ this place isn't for you. Food is great, the meat and sides are one of the best in Boston I would say. It is quite expensive though. The ambiance is really nice, I feel like im actually in Korea. Not sure if the music is as loud as in Korea, but it really is quite loud. There is quite a lot of service when ordering meats, as the employees cook the meat for you. Once the meat is cooked, they provide it to the guests, this works well when you have a larger group, but it may be a bit too much for a smaller group. I really enjoy this place. The set up is very nice, there are stools and you can put your backpacks in them so they don't get the BBQ smell! How neat is that. The service is great, the staff there are very attentive to the patrons and they cook the meat for you in front of the blazing fire. Now onto the food: We got the L beef combo and it comes with the meats, veggies, and of course, the steamed egg soufflé (eat it fast tho because it will deflate while it cools down). The meats were good and presented well. Raw beef was great, pairs really well with the pears that are underneath it. The combo also comes with a free kimchi soup. The kimchi pancake was good as well, worth a try but very similar to other places as well. The price is expensive but that is kind of to be expected when dining in Boston nowadays, best way is to come with a few people who dont eat a lot so you can be the cleanup crew (me). read more

Travel to MA for work and thought I would try the k-bbq in the area. I was curious because I have great k-bbq in k-town in NYC and wanted to see if MA was comparable. I assumed it wouldn't be a good as nyc but I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I know it's a new restaurant and the servers are learning the service- but the quality of the food was spot on. Had the beef combo and left satisfied. And of course the side dishes were fantastic. The prices are comparable to nyc prices (but less than cote and other high end Korean bbq places) but reasonable because the quality is the same at nyc k-town (and I have been to all of them). read more

The best kbbq in boston! Reminds me of the kbbq in New York. They cook everything for you and serve it on your plate. The combos come with egg and either kimchi or soybean soup. The soybean soup was delicious and spicy. The egg I thought needed a tad bit more flavor. We had the pork combo with short rib. Everything was delicious and tender. The only downside was there seemed to be no air conditioning and we were drenched in sweat trying to enjoy our meal. They also don't take reservations but you can go in and be added onto the waitlist and they will text you when your table is ready. Only street parking. read more

Came here for my brother's birthday dinner and we all loved it!! From the cool interiors, the fantastic service (thank you so much Jinoh!) to the absolutely delicious food. We got a large beef set, a large pork set (each came with an egg souffle and your choice of a kimchi or soybean soup) and and a selection of banchan, a kimchi pancake, seafood pancake and spicy tteokbokki. We enjoyed all of it, even the side dishes. All the meats were tasty and perfectly cooked by our servers, but the marinated beef and pork were standouts for sure. Loved the experience, and felt like it was worth the price tag. We were able to take our time and enjoy. And those vents worked!! You don't walk out smelling like bbq :) Even if I did, I'd still happily go back again and again. read more

I have lived in Boston for nearly a decade, and have only gone to Korean BBQ restaurants a handful of times. This is despite being my favorite dining experience. Until now, I would rather wait until I visit the parents in NY. Naksang is by far the best korean BBQ restaurant I've dined at and the key here is that they grill the marinated short ribs tableside with coals. I assume it's very tricky to deal with landlord-wise, but accept no substitute. Everything about this experience was just bad. My group of 4 went on a Monday, with a reservation at 6. Parking was abysmal. All street parking requiring permit parking essentially. Had to spend an extra 10 minutes looking for parking. When we got to the restaurant We were told to wait outside (the restaurant has plenty of standing room and it was quite empty at that time) when it was 95 degrees. The cost was utterly ridiculous. It ended up being $250-300 for 4 people and we were not full nor satisfied with the food. No where does it deserve this price point of $$$$. We had 4 orders of beef including prime rib, chuck flap and short ribs for 2 adults and 2 kids. It was plenty for us, then we ordered spicy cold noodle, steamed egg and bento for the kids. The charcoal bbq was amazing and the staff was super nice and had excellent skill at grill. We will definitely come back and would love to try cold noodles which was sold out today. The meat quality is phenomenal plus the staff is attentive and helps grill, which is helpful for us who do not come in groups. Portions are a little on the smaller side but the quality, service, and grill/restaurant set-up definitely make up for if. As someone who goes to kbbq all the time (and I mean all the time, every season or occasion/chance I get), I would say this place is okay/average at best. The only reason I say that is because the prices are INSANELY high for okay portions. They have "small" versus "large" combos if you have a group of people to share with, yet the small combo only covers two people at best. Note: this is very expensive for just two people and you could technically just opt to order individual dishes if you go as two people (except each individual dish is like $50+ minimum). The large combo was good in terms of quality of beef, but it was nothing that left me feeling blown away or felt like it was worth 135-175 dollars. I left feeling honestly super hungry and wanting to eat more at another restaurant because it wasn't very filling. Again, overall, I would say this place has good QUALITY meat (beef, pork, etc), but the price is crazy high and in my personal opinion not worth the price. You also probably won't feel very full afterwards (and I don't mean like super full just not full at all). But that's my personal opinion. I do think this is a good place for celebrating a formal event (birthday, etc) but not for casual dining.
