There are several old and new eateries in the downtown "courts" area, where you only get caught here for the dreaded jury duty--like I did. Anyhoo, instead of past fav David and Dad's Café, I went with the Circuit Court lunch list pick of Nalley Fresh (in the famed Sun Trust Building). You get various protein and add-on choices and choice of salad or wrap or whateves, plus chips (Uglies) and sweets, including their "famed" chocolate brownie. Courteous and efficient service, plus I think they gave me better than the 10% discount as a sad sack juror! Excellent chicken Caesar wrap with vinegar chips and brownie! I highly recommend Nalley Fresh for your jury duty lunch where there is some window seating with AC if not outside tables on a less hot day. Bonus: It you ask nicely, the adjoining lobby desk person may lead you to a tucked-away bathroom to freshen up before you head back to do your civic duty for the rest of the day. (Note: Lucky me, I did not get picked, and by early afternoon on a Friday, we jury "orphans" were released again to our "normal" lives--to live free and easy for another year.) read more

Upon collecting my reward for being an upstanding citizen (jury duty) I saw on the site that I could get a 20 percent discount while serving at Nalley Fresh. It was super close so I took the walk over from the courthouse. I came in around lunch time and expected a rush but it was surprisingly quiet. The staff was really inviting and made me the best salad a gal could ask for. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty. I built my own and topped it off with the balsamic vinaigrette. It was a little sweet but It worked well with my banana peppers. Overall it was a great experience. I got serenaded with throwback r & b music which is my favorite while chomping down. I am a happy camper and this will be my go to for my annual good citizens award ceremony. If you're a fan and want something fairly healthy, check out this location. read more

Possibly one of my favorite places to grab lunch or satisfy my fresh salad cravings.  So far, I've been to Nalley Fresh twice.  On my first visit I tried the Harvest Salad, which is made with the following:  Mixed greens, carrots, celery, almonds, croutons, mandarin oranges, cranberries, bleu cheese and Nalley Fresh Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing.  I got mine without celery, added cilantro, red onions, and boiled eggs.  I chose to get my salad dry, dressing on the side because I'm not a fan of a lot of dressing on my salad, just a tiny bit!  I opted out of the Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing and chose the Basil Dijon Vinaigrette.  Loved it!  I also tried the Tomato Basil and Gouda Soup and LOVED IT!  OMG it's so good! 2nd Visit - I went with the tomato basil and gouda soup again because it's just scrumptious and shouldn't be passed up ... ever!  I also chose The Seasonal Mojito Chicken Salad, which is made up of Juicy chunks of chicken marinated in lime, mint and Caribbean seasonings, with mango, brown rice, quinoa, wheatberry, arugula, spinach, tomato, cucumber, radish, banana peppers, pumpkin seeds, cilantro, topped with Chef Greg Nalley's Crisp Mango Vinaigrette.  I got my salad without radish and quinoa, but added boiled eggs, banana peppers, green onions and cucumbers. I've been hesitant to come here due to all the negative comments I've heard about Nalley. I saw online that they revamped this location and got some new staff. Well I'm impressed! Customer service was A1. I customized my salad with a Ceasar base, tofu, and blackened chicken. It was delicious!! My friend got something different and his was bomb as well. I usually go to sweetgreen but I'll start coming here as well esp since it's closer to me. I appreciate the owner(s) for accepting constructive feedback and actually implementing it. Tasty, healthy, reasonably priced food. What can I say? Should have tried it years ago when we first saw it here beside the Walmart in Columbia. Glad we did try it on a lark looking for healthy choices. Ordered the Asian Rice Bowl, took less rice and no chicken broth and added tomatoes at no extra cost. It was really tasty and under $12 - in Columbia!! My wife ordered the Californian bowl. Got it stir fried for free. Loved it too. read more

It's one of the few places still open near the courthouses, but post COVID, they seem to have a super limited menu. Honestly, a 3 is generous but I recognize that with Covid ongoing everyone is having issues. Props to the employees for doing their best but the whole experience during the lunch rush was not good. I went in for the juror special and they no longer honor that so I ordered something I wouldn't have actually wanted if I had known. Additionally the service was slow (20+ minutes) and they made my salad wrong anyways. When I went in to get my missing ingredient I got the tiniest little cup of it. I have been a customer of Nalley Fresh for years and this was my first time visiting this location. I had THE WORST experience. The man who had on the green hat was EXTREMELY rude! I asked for my dressing to be on the side . Apparently that doesn't show on tickets behind the counter. I asked does the order show the dressing on the side. He tells me no and then proceeds to check the ticket after I said I added it in the side. He then again advised me that I didn't because he has the receipt. I then advised him I did because I also have a copy of the receipt! No need to be rude and raise your voice since I didn't. Unacceptable and I will just avoid visiting this location again! He needs better customer service training! And also I waited while 6-7 ppl walked in and ordered and still received their food before me. I was not impatient and just waited so to get this service was SHOCKING. The concierge at my hotel nearby didn't know this place, but his buddy at the front desk did. Maybe they should switch jobs. But nonetheless, I discovered this place through Yelp, and was asking them if I was heading in the right direction. Fresh ingredients. Made right there for you. The woman behind me calls Nalley Fresh a healthy Subway. I wouldn't compare the two, since the bread involved here are the xxxx croutons and the way they keep you with them as they customize your meal. I ordered the Asian Bowl, adding shredded chicken. It was tasty and more decadent than I was looking for, but you know I loved it. Still it had a nice mix of veggies with tons of noodles and the chicken I added to the order. I could easily see this place becoming chain of restaurants across the country. Perhaps too much dressing/sauce. Tasty, but too much. Adds a lot of sugar to the meal. But like with everything, they will give you less if you ask. You can pretty much customize the whole dish. I would go with a straight salad next time. This noodle bowl was great, but so much food. I do love this place- the salads are amazing, and the options are out of this world! (Try the cilantro dressing, it's great.) One word of warning, though- don't order this for delivery via OrderUp, etc. Order online for pickup to beat the line, sure, but CHECK YOUR ORDER. They started out great at this, but have steadily gotten worse and worse--- they're actually downright abysmal at it now, it's just embarrassing for such a great place. I've ordered salads from the menu and gotten bowls of just plain lettuce delivered to my job, and when I tried to fix it the next time by putting add- ons, just in case they forgot something, I received a bowl of lettuce with cucumbers and the avocado I paid extra for. I guess I'm glad that this time I got the avocado, at least, but what gives? :( Worse, when I tried to use OrderUp's customer service, the shop told OrderUp that's how their salads come. Whoa, that's some crappy customer service- don't lie, man. I'm still trying to get any kind of refund, but I know I'm not coming back for delivery, because who just eats that for lunch or dinner? They really can't seem to get delivery down, which is a shame--- this was my go- to, too- busy- to- get- out- the- door healthy meal, and I was converting others at my wellness studio and yoga studios to it, too. I was so overwhelmed coming in to this place. Bowls, salads, etc I had no clue what to try. The person behind the counter was friendly, understanding and helpful. She offered help and suggestions. When I still was confused she gave me a sample of the Old Bay pulled pork. This was absolutely mouth watering and I'm not even a giant Old Bay fan. The pork had me jumping for more and was able to make my bowl! The brown rice was somewhat a crunchy great texture. I loved having so many add ons to try. I will come here again and better prepared! The cane root beer on the soda fountain and the fresh baked cookies took me over the top. Proteins change, they had salmon and fresh tuna and tofu. I'd go so far as to say that this place is the best option in the healthy fast casual segment, especially for vegetarians and vegans. I love the concept and the ingredients are all fresh and delicious. For a flat 8.50, you can get a bowl with your choice of base, be it brown rice and black beans, a sweet potato, greens, or noodles, and add your desired protein, the selection of which rotates daily, plus unlimited toppings (the only ones that cost an extra 50 cents are hardboiled eggs and avocado). To give you an example of the crazy and delicious concoctions you can create here, I ordered a bowl with rice and beans, fajita tofu, red onions, corn, scallions, edamame, sweet potato, provolone cheese, green apple, arugula, salsa, and cilantro dressing. The lady who helped me was so friendly and was happy to guide me through the ordering process and menu options when I told her it was my first time here. When she asked what kind of dressing I wanted, I told her that just the salsa would be fine to use as a dressing, but she was passionate about the cilantro dressing that my bowl base was supposed to come with and so she gave me an extra container of that on the side. I'm glad she did - it was so delicious that I could probably drink the stuff straight, and I really appreciated the extra effort she took to do something nice and showcase a product she clearly enjoyed. read more

Just had a catered meal for my workplace from Nalley Fresh. Their salads (and the dressings) are phenomenal: just the right amount of fresh, sweet, filling, and spicy vegetables. The tofu vegetarian wrap was solid and filling. They had some sort of raspberry vinaigrette that tied the whole wrap together. The tofu wasn't the best, but it was seasoned well enough that I felt like it went well with the rest of the wrap. I was full after eating two half-wraps and a small amount of salad. I went in yesterday for a salad. One of the persons making the salad was using her (the only woman on the line) gloved hands to pick up certain items like bacon and jalapeno's. When she got to me I and went to stick her hand in something just after doing this I asked her about changing out her gloves. She gave me the stank eye and kept helping the next customer. This is/was completely unsanitary. I think some retraining is needed. I'm sorry but food safety shouldn't go out the window just because you are busy. read more

While I normally don't go to chains when traveling, I was a big fan of the menu at Nalley Fresh and wanted to give it a go. It was exactly what I was looking for with delicious options for customizing to your heart's content. I ordered the layered bowl with sweet potato, quinoa, chicken, and veggies and opted for a black bean bisque on top. While I haven't seen many areas offer a broth on top option, I loved the flavor it brought to my bowl. The couple caveats I'd add are: 1) my friend was thrown off by the soupiness of the bowl after adding chicken broth and would have probably preferred a thicker dressing instead 2) the sweet potato, while delicious, did not necessarily combine well with everything else in the bowl. Worth a try if you're craving some fresh and healthy options. Also, +1 to Baltimore that this cost less than $10! read more

So thank god Nalley Fresh is here to help fill the void. The line out the door during the weekday lunch hour lets you know that this place is a favorite of Baltimore's white collar crowd. The concept here is pretty simple: make your own salad/wrap/bowl with a litany of fresh ingredients. For the indecisive among us (that's me!), they also have a number of signature items you can select. I chose the Nalley Fiesta, which has beans, avocado, salsa, etc. and added in some buffalo chicken. It was a big portion and really quite tasty! I ordered a Mexican flavored salad with extra cilantro (and they really do put EXTRA when you ask for it) and buffalo chicken. Totally filling, no need for a dressing. Major options for protein on your salad including tuna, chicken, salmon, and tofu. I love being able to mix it up and not stick to just whats on the menu...if you want chickpeas, go for it, a little quinoa...no problemo. I really like Nally Fresh. They have a little bit of everything. Soups, salads, with almost all the toppings u can think of plus wraps. I came on a Thursday at 11am so i was the first person there. Nice and clean including the bathroom. I love love love the Green Goddness dressing. Lady told me i can have up to 3 dressings for free. After that its a charge. Salad was huge. When the line gets crowded at lunch, they try their best to work through that line.....but.......they ask what your selctions from like from 15 feet away. You can't even see what your choices are. Doesn't seem like a big deal but their "mantra" is that you get 7 toppings. They also constantly bark at you after each selection (from 10 feet away mind you)... "what else?, what else?, what else? ". I have higher education but they make you feel like your an idiot if you can't communication your 7 topping as fast as what they want. Can I get a amen on that? Here is an idea, how about asking me to choose from your 80 choices when I am in front of you so I can see the choices? And asking politely what I would also like on my sub? What else? What else?
