I came for restaurant week 2026. It is a three-course meal. I left very full, the portions felt very appropriate! My friend and I shared our dishes. For the appetizer, we got the mushroom toast and miso soup. The mushroom toast was umami and creamy. And the miso soup had an interesting crunch on top, while the base was hearty. I really enjoyed both! For the main course we got the catfish. It was nicely fried and not at all greasy. I regret not getting the lamb instead, since I'm not the biggest fan of white fish. For dessert, we tried the shortbread and a blueberry cake. I forget exactly why it was, but the shortbread was so delectable. There was a nice caramel layer. Our server was very kind! Very attentive and friendly. I was celebrating a birthday, and when she heard that, she asked if we wanted a Polaroid photo to document the moment. It was so cute! Overall ambiance is nice too. It's cozy without feeling small. Although, it was very cold that day and every time someone opened the door, I would feel the wind draft. Maybe a slightly higher indoor temperature would be better. Stopped in on a whim before a show at the Metro and had one of the best meals I've had in ages. Casual in jeans and tees, we still felt totally welcome. Service was spot-on--two servers kept everything flowing and our glasses full. The "pig parts" menu stole the show--kidney pie with a perfect crust and melt-in-your-mouth cheek. I thought I would finally try foraged this restaurant week as I have never been and they have been open for a really long time! This restaurant is an institution in Baltimore. They used to be in Hamden before they took over the old Orto restaurant (RIP - the owner of that restaurant was a really bad person, but that Italian food was so epic). This is important because the venue is lovely. I love the intimate setting of the restaurant you walk through a curtain. It's cozy. It's elegant. They've kept a lot of the existing structure, but they've decorated with lots of mushroom pictures and random T-Rex toy. It's very earthy and cute. Forage often falls under the radar and I think there are people who really love it so I was excited to do their five course chef's offering. The service I had at foraged is hands down the best service I've ever gotten in Baltimore. The staff is really friendly. They're attentive and I never had to ask them to refill my water once. Which is a HUGE deal. I will say I think the five course is a lot of food and they were really generous with their amuse bouche. It was like a platter of food - and because I mentioned to our waiter, I wanted to try their lions mane crab cake. They included that in there, which I thought was so kind. I really enjoyed their mushroom stew, the meat dishes were fine but not as elevated as I thought they could've been. Forage is a little bit on the pricier side, compared to some of the other restaurants but it's very good. It is definitely not all vegan but very vegan friendly. This is not somewhere I want to go back to immediately, but the service was extremely memorable. My only complaint is that their wine pours were on the smaller side, and for $16 I want a tiny bit more. read more

One of my new favorite spots in Baltimore and would recommend it to anyone looking for recommendations in the area! Came here for restaurant week 2025 on a Saturday night. While it was busy and lively, we were seated quickly. The service was amazing- friendly, attentive, and fast! The space itself is beautiful and all the trails and seating was beautiful as well. Going to the food-if you didn't know, they change their menu regularly so the food here may not be the same when you do go. Ended up getting the pre-fixe with a few additions. Started with the mushroom stew and the "crab cake" - both amazing and highlighted mushrooms in different and amazing ways. The stew was super hearty and comforting and the cake flavors were on point for me. We ended up adding on the pig socket from the recommendation from our waiter -which was seasoned amazingly- especially when paired with the pickles and sauce. We ended up getting the snout as well due to a mistake, which was also amazing, but honestly liked the socket better. We would have been happy with either to be honest. For mains got the Maryland scallop and lambs neck. The lamb was a stand out for me- all the elements worked together so well. Dessert was the tiramisu and the chocolate pot de crème dish. My partner and I loved both and couldn't decide which one we liked better. Would easily come back just for those alone. Overall amazing experience and already planning on our next time to visit. I had a fantastic dinner here from beginning to end! My brother was in town for a concert and we both decided to try the 3-course menu. The complimentary beef croquettes at the beginning were a fantastic start to the meal. I loved my lion's mane "crab" cake - it was so rich and bursting with flavor; it was probably my top bite of the night. The duck was perfectly cooked and the parsnip puree was a delicious pairing. We both loved the butternut squash cheesecake and agreed it was like an infinitely better pumpkin pie. The complimentary mini chocolate chip cookie managed to stay soft and chewy despite the size. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations (including the duck, which I would have regretted missing). What a wonderful pre-birthday dinner treat! My goal was to eat nutrient foods tonight and everything was a win-win! I started my dinner with a lovely beet salad topped with lightly oiled arugula and gingerbread crisps - cleaned the plate! The salad paired perfectly with the Honeybush Decaf tea. My main course was the Maryland blue catfish, lightly seared to perfection, sitting in between two beautifully charred Brussels heads. The accouterments surrounding included sunchokes and mini-cubed turnips. I could literally drink the au jus, it was so memorable. My dinner wrapped up with lovely service from Eva, as she came by and gave me a petite amuse (chocolate chip cookie and a dark chocolate bite, heaven)! I went ahead and chose the 5 course chef tasting menu with the wine pairing. Started with the roasted herb crusted oyster, a honey-nut butter, marinated garleek (a seasonal cross btwn garlic and leek), deviled egg with tarragon and lions mane crab cake served with prosecco. Next was a salad with golden beets, arugula, goat cheese and sweet potato chips, alongside a white wine. Third course was an unoaked Chardonnay to accompany the mushroom stew, which included shiitake, oyster and lions mane and a poached egg on top. Fourth I enjoyed an off dry Riesling alongside a grilled scallop. Next was a crispy fish on top of a barley risotto, not my favorite dish but not bad. Finally was a tiny purple potato pie, delicious, a little hard and a bit small. If I could give it a 4.5, I would! It's the freshness for me! I was so impressed by the quality of the ingredients and how it transformed the food. The food we had was so mindfully crafted. The burrata was so good. I had never had it with corn before but it was cold and had a refreshing summer taste. The sourdough focaccia is a must order. We kept that coming back to the table. The liver mouse was very good! I wish it was paired with bread instead of a crispy cracker though. The pig parts were a mixed bag. Some were more familiar and others were more experimental. I'd recommend trying out a couple. I wasn't a big fan of the ears because I didn't really get a lot of flavor from them and the texture was a bit tough. But it was still cool to get that experience We got the last order of scallops. The scallops were so tasty! But it was a very small portion. We tried more things but I missed getting photos of everything. I had the cod for my main and it was tasty but a little too salty for my preference. The dessert was so amazing as well. They were light and fluffy and tasted like artisan desserts. The server was really kind but because of how busy they were, some of our requests were forgotten about. It's possible they may need more staff to help make the service experience more seamless. But they did a good job overall. I will absolutely be returning to try their set tasting menu! The vibe of the place is pretty moody. The downside is there's not much for restrooms. We've come to foraged twice now in the past couple months, first for restaurant week and now just to have dinner before a lyric show. Both times we've had the 3 course menu, which we've realized gives you the same as the 5 course meal if you're willing to share, plus you get to choose. Although pricey, the pig parts always feel worth it as a starter. This time, the jowl was so good it's a keeper, less fatty than belly with that crunchy skin. The mushroom stew consistently might be my most favorite dish. But everything's delicious. Their chocolate pot de creme is definitely a great end to the meal. Last time I didn't like the third wine pairing that went with dessert and told the waiter this time. So I tried foraged and I was pleasantly surprised. Not that I had low expectations, I just didn't know what to expect. I will say, I went in the winter time. I don't suggest sitting by the door at the bar, it's cold. With that being said, the bartenders were amazing. Not to mention, I thoroughly enjoyed the instrumental music in the background. As a music lover, there was some fire on that playlist. As for the food, it was good. The portions are small but very delicious. I would say that the duck was probably my favorite. I visited Foraged recently for dinner. It was my first visit and I was excited to try their very local menu. My companion and I were impressed by all of the dishes. We considered doing a prix fixe menu, but we added up the costs of our dishes a la carte and decided it wasn't really worth the cost. We ordered the tomatoes ($14), casarecce pasta ($16), catfish ($25), and lamb neck ($20), along with a paw paw pudding and apple cobbler for dessert. We drank prosecco ($11 on tap) and wine. All of the dishes were very good -- fresh, flavorful, appropriate size, good looking. I was particularly excited to try the paw paw dessert because they are very rare. My only complaint is that the dishes seemed a little over salted. We dined early in the evening, so only a few other people were there, so the service was very good and attentive, although it took a little longer for dishes to come out than I expected. Our check came with two tiny chocolate chip cookies which were also delicious. I wanted to sample some pig parts, but ultimately we didn't order them. The restaurant is relatively small and quiet. It has nice decor that leans into the mushroom, pig, and outdoorsy theme, like with real plants on the wall. read more

Came back here again for Baltimore restaurant week. Our friendly server gave us a few min to review the menu and we each ordered the Peach Party cocktail to start, alcoholic version for me and zero proof for him. It was quite delicious and I liked I could taste the honey in it. We shared the Drew Sourdough Focaccia with black trumpet mushroom butter to start. Don't believe I've had black trumpet mushrooms before but it was quite good. For my courses, I got the Cornmeal Fried Happy Oysters, Roasted Short Rib and Sourdough Danish while my friend got the Mushroom Stew, Heirloom Grains Risotto and Brown Butter Cake. We loved our first and main courses which were all cooked well and had the perfect blend of flavors and ingredients in them. Unfortunately, our desserts fell short. The sourdough danish was hard and super dry to me. The peach was so light I could barely taste the flavor - the whole desert was just bland. My friend wasn't a fan of his dessert either and nether of us finished them. Overall, still a great restaurant I enjoy coming to. Staff are always friendly. Food and drinks are generally quite good. I hate to give this place a not so great review, but we had a not so great experience, which really bummed me out considering how excited I was to try this place. Maybe it was just an off night for the restaurant, we'll consider trying it out again, but man am I bummed. To start, we tried the kool ranch pig ears and the cheek. I love that Foraged brings such a unique concept to Baltimore! The kool ranch pig ears were flavorful, exceptionally crunchy, and I would def recommend trying at least once. The pig cheek was mediocre, nothing exciting to comment on. We also ordered the leaf lettuce salad, again just fine, but hey, it's a salad. We then had the duck breast and scallops. Although aesthetically pleasing, the execution here really, really flopped. The duck was unpleasantly gamey, chewy, and actually the only bland plate we had. Praying that the scallops would save the day, they unfortunately were tough and over-salted. Never thought that we'd be thankful that there were only 3 pieces on each plate haha. Still feeling hungry and just sad... we then ordered the oysters. We really should have just saved ourselves the disappointment because these oysters were like chewing on pure salt rocks. I seriously thought it was just me, but the tables are also positioned really close to each other so you'll be overhearing your neighbors conversations. The couple next to us and the large table on our left also thought the food was extremely salty and chewy. The large table sent their food back but us couples just complained amongst ourselves haha. Our final attempt at saving date night was ordering a chocolate mousse dessert. Nothing special but really helped after our sad meal :( We also ordered some cocktails, throughout our meal which were amazing and great for swishing out our food. The saving grace was really those mini chocolate cookies at the end of the meal!! Those were amazing! We walked away laughing that the complimentary cookies were the best part of the meal, it's the little things right! Anyway, I really hope that this was just an off night for the restaurant, and just wanted to provide some input for room to improve. We came to foraged for our anniversary, we thought we were lucky that our anniversary fell during restaurant week, however, I'm wondering if that negatively effected the quality of food and service. We had reservations for around 8pm on a Tuesday, we walked in and it took a while for anyone to come acknowledge us. The restaurant was completely full, and it was decorated very well- lots of greenery along the walls, pictures of mushrooms & pigs- felt very farm to table. I first ordered the Winter Warmer cocktail, it was like a warm citrusy tea with gin- it was okay. We started with the Focaccia with whipped tallow, and we did enjoy that a lot! For restaurant week, you could choose 2 regular plates and a dessert for $45, my partner and I got different plates so we could share them all. Heirloom Grains Risotto- There was an overpowering lemon/citrus flavor, that's all that came through. Lion's Mane "crab cake" - Again, a very strong citrus/ lemon flavor with not much else Duck Breast- Our favorite dish, the duck was cooked very well and the bean ragu was delicious Beef Tenderloin- Meat was very good. The rest of the dish had a very strange flavor and neither of us wanted to finish it. Fall Spiced Cheesecake- Very delicious Chocolate Pot de creme- It was good, however, very dark chocolate flavor with not much sweetness The service was okay. Our waitress was very sweet, but all the staff seemed very overwhelmed. I'm assuming that it was much busier than usual and that's why. Three servers literally ran through the restaurant at one point- not sure why? I went during restaurant week on Saturday, and it started like the previous visit.. Enter thru a black curtain and stand at an empty hostess stand. Richard (super sweet) eventually came over and invited us to sit at the bar while our table was prepared.. We arrived at 8 for an 8:15 pm. reservation. Sitting at the bar doing winter - A NO GO, straight ICEBOX. The bartender was amazing.. Professional, knowledgeable and down to earth.. P.S. That sazarac was DELICIOUS! We were eventually seated and was immediately greeted by our server.. The tables are extremely close so kudos to the waitress and her maneuvering. We chose the 5 Prix tasting w/the wine pairing. The food is served on small plates, and while some are extremely favorable, others are extremely bland. For the cost & hype I had extremely high expectations and although I wasn't 100% satisfied, I love the open kitchen concept & their customer svc is top tier.. They charged $40 for a 3 course meal which was an appetizer, "main course", and dessert. It was not a special menu, they just let you put together anything from the regular menu, which seems lazy and takes the fun out of restaurant week. Most importantly - this wasn't even a deal! Had we just ordered the same things any time, my friends 3 courses were $41. So a $1 discount for restaurant week? What's the point. Mine was $46 so I saved $5 I guess. Not a great value. Onto the food. I got the burrata salad, beef brisket, and chocolate pot de creme. Everything was SMALL SMALL SMALL. My $13 salad was a scoop of burrata on some corn purée. It was very tasty but microscopic. The beef brisket was also buttery and tasty but had THREE pieces of beef brisket. For $26! Outrageous. For that price, I am expecting leftovers. Dessert was chocolatey mousse, it was good but I could've lived without it had I known what a non-deal restaurant week was. My friend got the "crab cake" for dinner which is actually vegetarian and made form mushrooms. It's definitely a creative dish and did have that meaty crabby texture, but for $17, they couldn't even throw some fries or something with it? The restaurant itself is tiny, which is fine I don't mind an intimate restaurant, but tables need some breathing room! Our table was so close to the table next to us, we were basically in their conversation and they were in ours every so often. Not a great experience when you are trying to catch up with a friend. Overall I wouldn't go back. Baltimore has too many incredible restaurants at the same price point for double the portions. They also add on 3% tip for kitchen staff? Never heard of that but make sure to check your bill! 4.5 stars. I really enjoyed my meal here! I believe they used to be in Hampden but are now operating in the old Orto (RIP) space next to the Charles Theatre. Service was great, food was great. They are "hyper seasonal" and focus on local ingredients and suppliers even down to the wine and beers they had available. We ordered the focaccia, green salad, squash, pork belly and short rib. Everything was great, but the highlights for me were the short rib, squash and pork belly. You can really tell how fresh everything is. As I mentioned before, this is a "hyper-seasonal" restaurant and so I'm sure it can be a challenge and expensive to source their ingredients. This is reflective in both the size and price of the portions, but If you know that going in, you will definitely enjoy your meal here. read more

The ambiance and interior were very nice They had a bunch of mushroom themed decorations, as well as some plants growing inside. The service was excellent, with servers coming often to ask if we needed anything or clean up the plates/refill the water. Also the servers were aware of any substitutions the kitchen was doing for each dish. Which was much appreciated. The wine berry sour was excellent, and the wine berry really came through. It was a balanced and refreshing drink overall. We ordered 2 smaller dishes and 2 mains and shared all of them. The focaccia was soft and fluffy, and the spread was creamy while also being light and airy. The mushroom stew had a deep and rich flavor, and the mushrooms were cooked in a way that they had a great texture, they weren't mushy and didn't absorb any liquid. The lamb was cooked to perfection, and the fat was fully rendered. So each bite was juicy and rich. The chicken was also cooked well and the char and crispiness of the skin really elevated the dish. My only complaint, which is very minor, was that the fat/skin part of the lamb extended a bit beyond the meat, so my last bite didn't have much meat. We tried several plates and enjoyed them all. Special shout out to the Mushroom Stew. The stew was unique and light with complex layered flavors. The nuts were a pleasant surprise, and the ricotta added a surprising depth of flavor. A must! On the other hand, we had the peach cake for dessert, which was disappointing. We thought it was described as a cake with peach pieces in it. Instead, it was more of a dry spice cake with peach preserves on top. Would skip. We did feel that there was repetition of citrus/lemon flavor. Be aware in case you aren't a fan of citrus. I have been eyeing foraged way before they relocated to their current location on charles north. I was intrigued with the seasonal ingredients and how the ingredients can be foraged hence the restaurants name. For a last minute Saturday night reservation, I'm glad we got what we wanted. Focaccia bread - bread was good but that butter was better. We were asked if we wanted a refill of bread. Of course without a second thought but should've known when it comes to restaurants like these, refills will cost you. Catfish - soft and flaky with crunchy asparagus and two surprise bites of oysters hiding around in the mix. Butter was the name of the game adding a sweet richness Heirloom grain risotto - ok butter seems like the theme with all the dishes. My friends and I visited foraged during the Baltimore restaurant week, and we had a very unpleasant experience. We ordered a three-course meal for $45 per person and a $12 focaccia to share. The focaccia was the only satisfactory item we received, but we had to wait for an hour for the main courses. The lamb neck was mostly fat, the steak lacked seasoning, the potato was undercooked and cold, the scallops were minuscule, the asparagus was tough, and the catfish was small and dry. We were hungry and dissatisfied, but we hoped the dessert would be better. Unfortunately, we were wrong. The dessert was a disaster. My boyfriend ordered the carrot cake, and he bit into a thick and hard piece of toffee that cracked his tooth. We were shocked and upset. We informed the waitress, who went to get the shift manager. He came and examined the tooth, but he said he did not know what to do. He left to consult another manager, and we waited for another 15 minutes. She arrived and repeated the same thing, and gave us an email address to contact the upper management. She did not apologize, offer any compensation, or fill out any incident report. She seemed indifferent and eager for us to leave. We were appalled by how uncaring and insensitive the staff were. After we reported our incident, none of the employees showed any concern or care. After we paid the full price for the poor food and service, we saw our waitress and two managers. The only thing they said was to have a good night repeatedly. No one expressed any sympathy or empathy for our situation. We came here with high expectations because of the JB nominee and the Google review. We were very disappointed and regretful. We will give this place two stars for the overpriced food. Zero stars if we can for the customer service and impersonal handling of the incident. We write this review to warn people who want to have a great local food experience - look elsewhere. read more

Great local restaurant with a seasonal food menu. Everything tasted fresh and felt like a lot of thought was put into curating the menu. I would recommend ordering a bunch of plates and splitting them if you are with a small group just so that everyone can try a variety of items. My personal favorite were the scallops and pasta with lamb. read more

Foraged had long been on my list of restaurants to try in Baltimore due to the pretty food presentation, "hyper-seasonal"/farm-to-table aspect, and cute small space. Unfortunately, it did not live up to that expectation, and in fact was quite a let down. The food was all relatively good, but at a $60 per person price point I expect to be pretty impressed instead of just relatively content. More lacking though, was the experience. For a restaurant that emphasizes seasonality, I would usually expect to learn a bit about the food during the meal, but we received... none of that. No information was given to us about their suppliers, the location that the ingredients were "foraged" from or anything. In fact, our waiter never came by to check on us during the meal, which is a theme I have noted in other less than satisfied reviews of this restaurant. This lack of attention to detail persisted in the fact that when we made the reservation we were asked if we were celebrating anything, and we told them that we were celebrating our engagement-- but then they didn't do anything with that knowledge. Not that they are required to, but there was no mention of it by our waiter or extra little desert or anything. I just wonder why they asked if they didn't care? My fiancé liked it less than me and described it as overall, "soulless". I have to admit, it just felt like they were going through the motions of what is expected of a hip restaurant without any passion or investment in the project. Get the burrata and sea scallops while you can! We could not believe how good every dish was. I love that they use ingredients that are fresh and in season and they use their ingredients in some pretty inventive ways! Staff were very nice and made our experience even better. I did not know you can make squash in so many ways. I plan to go back for the raspberry ice cream.

The food was excellent, and the service was excellent. It's definitely farm a table and I would highly recommend it.
