Well today I tried to order my usual veggie samosas, chicken Tikka and chicken curry. To my surprise it now says entrees do not include rice. Like how are we supposed to eat this like a soup? I ordered extra spicy, but I did not expect for all the spiciness to be derived from Tabasco. I ordered saag paneer and chicken makhani extra spicy, but it only tasted like vinegar and spice. I was very disappointed because overall it had a lot of potential for good flavor and I understand Northern Indian food is not as spicy, but Tabasco really clashes with the flavors. My new favorite Indian food place in Chicago. I have ordered in 3 times lately and the food is always hot and fresh. The veggie samosas are delicious and have some sort of seasoning on the outside. The chicken makhani is essentially a butter chicken and I'd order just a vat of the sauce if I could. Even with the chicken tikka masala. The flavor is so good. This place is such a gem. My sister in law loves coming here so we drove into the city to meet her there for lunch. It was such a nice cozy little place despite being on a very busy street. The owner,who also waited on us, could not have been nicer or more hospitable. You can see that he takes so much pride in his restaurant and the food. We decided to order off of the lunch special menu. The price was great and there was a vegetarian and non- vegetarian menu. (Great for my vegetarian husband) When your order comes out, it is served on a beautiful platter with naan and rice. It is so much food, and we all wound up taking home leftovers. I did the vegetarian special which came with your choice of a samosa or pakora, with dal makhani and yellow dal tadka. It was absolutely delicious and so much food. Came highly recommended.....and reviews are good. I have one complaint....update the menu. I ordered a dish that was offered as a half chicken or a whole....so we opted for the whole chicken....24 dollars!! When it came out on a sizzling dish....nice presentation. Chicken was extremely dry....if not for the sauce on the side it would not be able to swallow it. The the best part is my wife asked....How many legs does a chicken have....we were give 4 legs and 4 thighs....no wings and no breast!! Lol We were told that they only serve legs and thighs....so why does the menu say half chicken or whole chicken? AND why am I the jerk for asking??!! ....oh yeah $2.50 for a can of diet coke? My mom wanted to go to a Nepalese restaurant so I looked up online and found Namaste Chicago. I we ordered non veg thali with goat meat and rio saag. My mom usually doesn't like eating outside food but she loved it. It brought back good memories from back home Nepal. Food was made with authentic food Indian/ Nepali spices and was delicious. Stopped in for an early lunch, 11:30. We were the only folks in the dining room. The service was prompt. We had the vegetable mo-mos, palak paneer and vegetable jalfrezi. All were hot and delightful. How does this place have almost 5 stars on Yelp?!! We ordered food through a delivery app and it was atrocious. Literally the worst chicken curry and the worst paneer tikka masala we've ever had. Completely bland! And who puts large chunks of onions and peppers in tikka masala - that's a completely different dish. The tandoori roti needed 5 more mins of cooking. Who wants to eat raw dough? Yuck!! The naan was passable but nothing to write home about. All in all, I'm shocked at the quality of food considering the quality of indian food available in Chicago. The Chicken Tikka Masala was very flavorful and had a slight spice, but nothing too spicy. I've had better rice, however, it was still good. Along with the CTM, I also ordered two Lamb Samosas. The samosas were also very flavorful and super full of lamb. You're given two sauces: green and tamarind. You'll love both! Everything was well packaged to ensure that you don't get your hands super messy trying to open it all. Chaat comes form the Hindi word chatna which literally means licking, as in licking your fingers afterwards. I ordered the samosa chaat, pakoras and gulab jamun. Delivery was right on time and pricing was relatively cheaper than the other Indian restaurants in this neighborhood. Ok, I'm not even kidding. This was the tastiest samosa chaat I've had in Chicago! It is so hard to find any chaat here that even has the slightest taste of back home but this one hit all the right spots. Perfect chutney, crispy papri and really tasty underlying masala. I guess it was finger licking good after all. Pakoras were pretty tasty too. Went here for the first time and had a great time! I have zero complaints about the food. We ordered numerous vegetarian appetizers and entrees. All of the food came out quickly. The food was delicious, perfectly seasoned, with perfect portions. Service was good! We got there before the usual dinner rush so we had very attentive server. We were finishing up as the all the reservations started to file in, but our server was still around and checked in even though they were clearly getting busy. With how great the food was, we honestly didn't need anything. It is BYOB for now! I heard their hoping to their liquor license soon. Overall it was a great experience. So disappointing, it was comical. The vegetable momo were clearly frozen vegetable potstickers. The vegetable vindaloo was a combination of a few frozen vegetable medleys (lima beans and crinkle-cut carrots included) cooked in what seemed like jarred pasta sauce with red chili flakes. Food: love that they have batura - you can only get it in Devon so that was a treat. A little oily but overall delicious. Here's what we got chicken samosa - super flavorful Chicken curry- a little bland not my fav Chicken tikka masala- good flavor Chana masala- had some good heat to it. Garlic naan- delicious Batura- oily but good I think being desi ( South Asian) the spice level could have been kicked up for me but my boyfriend liked the level. So excited for an Indian restaurant basically next door and that it's halal. Not a requirement for me but makes it easy to bring my parents to. Good portions and prices. The outside makes you think carry-out or no ambiance but there is a very nice dining room with a full bar. I was greeted warmly and served promptly. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala extra spicy and butter naan bread. The spice was perfect- my lips tingled! The bread was crisp yet soft and perfect. I tried Namaste for the first time as a celebration dinner for an accomplishment at work. I ordered for myself and my mom, and we both hated everything we ordered. Gobi Manchurian: mushy, and just spicy. Spicy in a way that isn't tasty, just very vinegary and hot. I'm use to there being some flavors in this dish. Chicken Chili: incredibly dry and old tasting pieces of chicken that had a really unbalanced flavor of vinegar. Veggie Samosas: bland. The sauces talk at came with it were very loose. Mango Lassi: it was fine, looks like nacho cheese sauce which was unsettling. Garlic naan: it wasn't great. Overall nothing tasted fresh, and I couldn't imagine I would order from here again.
