This hits the soy marinated crab craving. My goodness, it was fresh, didn't have that "fishy" smell, and the soy marinade is so good over rice. The Korean pancake was a good touch. Just note, if you come an hour before closing you can also get their cold items, which was fine cause that's what we wanted. Will have to try the shrimp marinade another time Cons: the crab doesn't come with the shells which is such a bummer because I love putting rice and the soy marinade and eating it together. The place was clean, limited seating, but very, very cold inside.

Congee is kinda bland, but at the same time feels a bit too much I think because of the mung bean. The portion is huge but also kinda pricey. Jeon is pretty good with a slight crisp. I don't really like their kimchi. You have to order 90m in advanced.

I had been craving raw marinated crabs for who even knows how long. So I jumped at the opportunity to go when a friend told me about this place. They do require about an hour and a half notice if you want certain things on the menu, so I would just call in beforehand so that you can order and you don't have to wait there. The raw marinated crab is so good! Both the soy and spicy marinades are delicious, even by themselves on rice. The crabs are so meaty and juicy and creamy. You don't even have to eat it with rice, it's so good on its own. The seafood pancake was a really good side dish to add on. Nothing too special on its own but just nice to have and you can dip it in the soy marinade. The abalone porridge was good, but if you're getting the crabs, I don't think it's really necessary to have. Because you already get rice and seafood. But it's still a good homey porridge.

Free scallion pancake was a surprise! Size was so much bigger than I thought and 3 of us were STUFFED with food leftover (best for 4 people!) Be sure to make a reservation if eating any of the soups! Won't be loud and bustling because of the reservations made Really recommend for the FW season

As many mentions before this place is a hole in the wall next to a pool hall. You wouldn't know unless you could read Korean or someone told you about it since it looks like a random pace in a strip mall. Luckily I had a friend that knew about this place. We ordered the raw crab and duck mushroom soup. I can say we left very full, and both dishes tasted great. One thing to note is that if you order some soups there's a long waiting time. It might be better to preorder over the phone and arrive in the store. Lastly there's not a lot of seating here so you may want to call a head.

Potentially my fave korean restaurant in NJ? It's definitely a place to bring a family or a crowd. There's menu options that feeds a large group. I only got the soy marinated crab and the al-bap and it was some of the best food I've ever had

I heard afterwards that duck + noorongji is the way to go. So maybe I will come back to try it again but I thought the side dishes were bit lacking for the price and vibe of the restaurant. They charged $30 more for the black mushroom and I'm not sure it that would be totally worth it. The service was quick but you do need to call safely 2-3 hours prior to your arrival time to make sure.

It was hot & humid in NJ today, not the ideal weather for hot porridge. Nonetheless, porridge is comfort food. It is a healing food. Everyone needs healing and comforting once in a while. Today was definitely a day for porridge for me. There is this place in NJ. It is a hole in the wall next to a pool hall. You will find very few signs in English. Very few people know that this place exists or what it serves. Let me tell you it serves porridge, not some ordinary porridge, no Siree Bob, this is not any ordinary porridge. This is porridge made from Korean herbal soup and scorched rice (there are nations that go crazy for scorched rice). In the porridge is black mushrooms, abalone, chicken (or duck) AND Scorched Rice. Please allow me to tell you one more time, this is no ordinary porridge. You have to order this porridge atleast 90 minutes in advance. The tab just for the porridge can be as much as $239. Yes $200 plus for porridge, and you have to order (and pay) atleast 90 minutes in advance. Heat and humidity notwithstanding, I needed the porridge. After finishing work, I drove to this place, Namhan Sansung (500 10th St Palisades Park, NJ). I walked in maybe 30 minutes before closing time and realized that I had not placed the order. I had completely forgotten to place the order for the porridge. Please do not make this mistake. Please order in advance. This is not some ordinary porridge. So, I settled for the next best thing at this joint, soy sauce marinated raw crabs. There is a spicy version too, but just the regular version is spicy enough. These crabs have zero smell and infinite creamy goodness. The crabs come cut along the center, you just squeeze out the meat on the rice, sprinkle the soy marinade and eat it. Repeat the process and you will be amazed how soon everything disappears.

The crab is so fresh and soft! It literally melts in your mouth! I got both the soy and spicy marinated crab and I personally liked the soy one better. The spicy marinated crab was really good but was a bit spicy for me, however, my friends preferred it. I would definitely come back to try to duck soup!

Best raw marinated crabs in the area!! Such a hole in the wall, since it's a little further away from the main area. Mostly locals dine here and it is much better than other places in the area. We ordered a soy marinated raw shrimp, 2 orders of crab, 2 orders of the mixed rice ball, and an abalone porridge for 3 people. We probably could've gone without the porridge. Their portions of seafood are a little smaller than other places but the quality is top notch honestly. No fishy taste at all, very fresh, sweet, well marinated and their crabs/shrimp were both SO meaty. They also use actual Korean crabs which are easier to eat and not the blue crabs. Highly recommend ordering the mixed rice ball to go with the marinated seafood, it soaks up the soy sauce marinate sooo well. BE SURE to call 1.5hrs in advance, no exceptions. We thought we could get away with an hour in advance bc it was early in the day but it was packed when we arrived for lunch. SOO worth the wait!

It's such a special restaurant. Love every dishes that we ordered. Duck soup pot, abalone congee, marinated abalone. We have 4 people and have some soup left. Love the congee! It's pricey. You need to call them to preorder the soup and the marinated food. It's a small restaurant. Service was ok. Only one runner and the owner is the server and cashier.

    Nicole K.

We went here to eat the duck porridge soup with abalone. We decided to also get the crab, shrimp, and abalone marinated in soy sauce with roe rice. Everything tasted healthy. It's a small restaurant and recommend making a reservation given you have to call ahead for the duck soup. Service can be better but overall it was good.

Amazing food, attentive and caring service, and overall a great atmosphere! My friends and I came here on a cold day, and the abalone porridge was the perfect remedy. The marinated crab, shrimp, and abalone set is truly worth it, and honestly a great deal, especially if split! The flavours were so rich and memorable. The best part is that you can tell it's all very fresh and high quality. Highly highly recommend!

Ordered three things: 1) marinated crabs, small size (5/5). Always a must-get here. 2) ddukbaegi bulgogi (4.5/5) - Thinly sliced prime marinated beef ribeye casserole with rice cake and glass noodle and mushroom served in a sizzling hot pot. Really flavorful and so good to have on a cold day. 3) ahjae ppyo jjim (4.5/5) - Braised prime beef meat bones in soy reduction with carrots, radish, dates, chestnut, rice cake and glass noodles. We got non-spicy. It came in a HUGE bowl. Definitely meant to be shared with a group. Took leftovers home and it was still yummy the next day mixed with knife-cut noodles I had at home.

I really liked the gomtang as the flavors were really rich especially when elevated by the pepper. - Seolleongtang - Clear and beautiful broth that went really well with salt. This time around, it's a stronger 5 out of 5 because of our waiter was amazing. Ugh, I can't remember his name. He was on top of everything and making sure our food was grilled in a timely manner. He was quick to follow up with orders/requests that didn't come through when the kitchen didn't bring them out. Usually my gripe or disclaimer I give to people is that Wooga is great at everything except wrapping up things on the end. In the past, whenever I went, it would take forever (!!!!!) to get our check and pay. It was so frustrating but this time around, it was a bit faster. It's a win-win situation because we get to pay and leave and the restaurant has another table for customers. Though on the pricier side, Wooga does check off all the boxes of: -amazing meat quality -amazing & attentive service -they don't skimp on banchans (side dishes that I heard other restaurants are starting to limit) -several meat combo options -best Korean steamed egg in the North Jersey area We tried the thinly sliced oxtails, which were really good but pretty pricey for $38cash/$39.90card for 11oz of it. There are some things that are inconvenient (long waits, very small parking lot) but it's easy to overlook them once you have a meal at Wooga. Things to know before you go: -Their menu is updated on their website if you want to check that out before you go. -The earlier you go, the better your chance of being seated quickly. Weekends are definitely a longer wait, so plan ahead. -Their parking lot is small so it fills up super quickly, so you'll have to park across the street and play Frogger (maybe you might be too young to know this reference?) to cross the 4 lanes of Palisade Ave. -When you arrive, make sure to check in with the host/hostess so that you could get a pager to know when your table is ready. Your turn can come pretty fast sometimes depending on the timing.

Inside is small but clean and gives off traditional Korean restaurant vibe with of course Korean music. There were quite few Korean customers as well as staffs so i knew we were in the right place. They specialize in Korean beef soup. We ordered rice cake and dumplings and special beef rib soup. The fish came with purple rice and various kimchi and pickled veggies side dishes. They also serve korean hot tea along side the dishes. My special beef rib soup was very light and clear but full of beef flavor. Little touch with salt and pepper with pickled veggies and rice paired with very well. The meats were very tender and flavorful as well. Portion is quite large and i was not able to finish my bowl although i did help with another bowl of rice from my partner. My partner got the rice cake and dumplings beef soup. This one was a but lighter and needed more salt flavoring but also good. She liked her's better as she doesn't like heavier and fattier meat/broth. Salt and peppers are provided to adjust your seasoning as needed. Even though they could not finish the dishes i throughly enjoyed the food. What i like about Korean dishes is that even some are heavy and fatty they include lots of vegetables and healthy ingredients which makes it feel like you had a healthy meal and lots of nutrients despite eating out.
