Started with chili garlic edamame and had to order another just regular as the first item was way too spicy for my wife (even though we asked server Frank to not make it too spicy). Had the combo of large Asahi and mixed tempura. Don't think we'd order the tempura again. Had a shrimp, 2 pieces of rectangular calamari, a potato chip-like sweet potato, and a slice of acorn squash. Was lower priced because it was with the beer, but at $9.99 regular price - pretty pricey for what you got. Also wasn't that great of tempura. Seemed more breaded than tempura-battered. Did a sushi bento box. Cucumber salad more tangy than sweet (good). Yellowtail roll and spicy tuna both substantial. The yellowtail was a solid piece, not the chopped up kind you often get. Both rolls were encased in tasty purple rice. White tuna sashimi slices (3) were large and buttery. Service was great and the interior is clean and attractive. This was my first visit, and overall I was glad to find a Korean restaurant this far north. One of the biggest positives was the value. They offer a one-person ssam bap for $23, while many other Korean restaurants only serve it for two people at prices over $42. Since I usually eat lunch alone, that was a big plus for me. The staff was also very friendly, and the lettuce was impressively fresh. That said, there were a few downsides. The pork belly was not cooked quite right, though I understand that can happen. The rice was also a little mushy, and the banchan, or side dishes, were somewhat limited. I wouldn't give this visit top marks, but I'm still happy I found a Korean restaurant in this area. Our new favorite spot. We've been a handful of times now. The sushi is so good. You're not going to find a bunch of rolls with cream cheese or tempura style like most sushi places. The rolls and sashimi are so flavorful on their own. We've also tried their ramen which is also delicious. Service is always on point and the ambiance is great. We've never had Korean but love trying new types of food and my husband made the right choice when he picked Nami for our dinner date tonight. They honestly knocked it out of the park!! I'm a pretty good cook so we're hard to satisfy much less impress when eating out. We had the Spicy Edamame which I would give a spice level of 4 on a scale of 1-5. Another Yelp win! I came here because of the amazing reviews and was highly impressed! I was dining alone, so I sat at the sushi bar. Inside was clean, and the staff was welcoming. My server was busy, and I believe it was the only server that night, but we did a great job and even made suggestions, as it was my first time dining here. I got the roll with mango, tempura shrimp, tuna, salmon, and truffle sauce. I don't like eel or eel sauce, so I asked my server to leave that off. My roll was plenty for one person, but I wanted to try something else, so I also got the dumplings, which were also quite good. I actually got them steamed, but I'm not a big fan of fried food. Very open and large dining area. They have several televisions that were showing a baseball game during our lunch. Each of the tables had wine glasses. There is a pretty large menu and prices are pretty reasonable. For our first visit we stuck to sushi rolls and ordered a Philly roll, White Horse, Over the Rainbow and Unagi eel roll. The rolls are made with black rice and once added to water the rice turns purple. You learn something new every day. We first noticed the sushi was sliced into much smaller pieces which I really appreciated. The black rice seemed to have a different texture than white rice and not as starchy. I really enjoyed the black rice. Overall the rolls were very good and the options were unique. The menu offers rolls that we have never seen before. After looking over the menu, we decided to order the pork mandu, grilled mackerel, L.A. Galbi, kimchi fried rice, deaji bulgogi, salmon skin roll, spicy scallop nigiri, salmon lover roll, cave creek roll, white mango roll, and a baked scallop roll. Out of all the dishes we ordered, our top three favorites were the L.A. galbi, deaji bulgogi, and the white mango roll. Surprisingly, the rolls for us were a hit or a miss. The white mango roll, the roll I was most skeptical about trying ended up being my favorite of the rolls. I'm not a big tuna person but I love mango, so I had to try it, and it ended up being really light and refreshing! On the other hand, the rolls that we were most familiar with ended up being our least favorite. What I really appreciated about this place besides them having both Korean dishes and sushi on their menu was how creative and diverse their rolls were! Overall, service was fast and friendly. I was excited for Nami based on the great reviews. Tried 2 sashimi appetizers and both were decent but not Sushi Samba or Roka Akor level. For the sushi rolls, I tried 2. The Nami roll had this special Nami sauce that is the chef's work of art supposedly, but I'd never have it again. It was like a weird mayo. The mango sauce roll was much better and worth ordering. There's a reason this place has 5 stars on Yelp. The food is spectacular. I was a little hesitant about ordering sushi at a place advertising itself as Korean, but they did a great job on their purple rice rolls; my daughter and I polished off the Crunch Garlic roll and followed it up with two Phili rolls (I would have been satisfied after one, but the toddler kept going). My husband went for the Korean side and ordered the L.A. Galbi, which came with delicious Korean side veggies that I happily stole. We ordered spicy garlic edamame, mandu, LA galbi, and some rolls. We left nothing behind because the food was all around delicious. The restaurant is pretty decently sized so one does not feel crammed in there, plenty of space. The staff was efficient and the manager stopped by our table to ask how we were enjoying our meal. It might create a bit more ambience to dim the lights slightly as the sun goes down. It felt too bright in there after sunset. Unrelated to the food: If you park in the row immediately in front of the restaurant, be aware that it will be a tight left to exit that row. Banchan (side dishes) are the mark of a good kitchen, and Nami's kimchi and assorted sides are just like a home cooked meal. Must try both the mul naengmyun and the bibim naengmyun. Kalbi is well marinated and prepared with just the right amount of char. They were very nice and we had our food quickly. The interior of the place was clean, warm and welcoming. The food was amazing. Some of the best sushi I've had in my 4 years living in Phoenix. We were also greeted by a woman who looked to maybe be the manager and she was just checking on our food and if we needed anything and was very pleasant. Great Korean food in North Phoenix. We were craving for a hot soondubu on a rainy day and didn't feel like driving to East Valley. This place had perfect seafood soondubu and I also tried the hot stone bibimbap, yellowtail lover roll, and hamachi kama. The bulgogi and the sauce for the bibimbap were great. The yellowtail in both the roll and the kama was pretty good quality (it's usually hit or miss for yellowtail in AZ). They gave us 4 different banchan including my fave, the fish cakes. Place is clean and seems to be getting good business, and service is great. And you know it's a good korean restaurant when all the dinnerware is metal haha. Really great spot near my house! The staff was very friendly and the vibe was chill even though it was pretty busy. We didn't have to wait too long to be seated, and they took our order quickly. The food also came out in a reasonable amount of time considering how packed it was. My ramen was delicious and really flavorful, and the roll we ordered was also very tasty. Another cool thing is that there's a small market in the same plaza with treats and snacks. I noticed the host called someone to let them know their table was ready while they were shopping there, which I thought was such a great idea if you're waiting for a seat. Nami? No, more like yummy! I called to see if they made a traditional dish that Koreans eat during the New Year called ddukguk. It's not on their menu but I figured it was worth a shot. They didn't have it. Imagine my surprise when the owner called me back and offered to make it for me. The broth was fantastic, with perfectly seasoned bulgogi, perfectly textured ddukguk, dried seafood, beautiful strips of fried egg, with a hint of sesame oil. I hope he makes this a regular item because it really made me happy. What a great way to "age up". His wait staff was excellent! Incredibly attentive and prompt. The ambiance was romantic. Plenty of seating and impeccably clean. And the owner was kind enough to reserve my husband and me a table with some lovely flowers in a vase. If you've never had Korean food or want to introduce your friends to it, this is the place to do it. The price point was great, too. Not too expensive so definitely a wonderful choice for college kids, date night, or lunch. The food is definitely friendlier to an American palate while still maintaining its authenticity. We come to Nami every week on a day we don't have time to cook. Sashimi salad and salmon Kama are our favorite. We love the fresh, big chunk of sashimi in the salad and the sauce is special - refreshing and flavorful. Also, they have the best salmon collar I've had and I have high standards. The chef cook it to perfection, and only once out of 30 times it was slightly overcooked. My kid also loves it. Their special rolls are interesting. The main reason I came here was for the Chun Cheon Dak-Galbi. That's one of my favorite dishes and hard to find in Arizona. It was pretty good here, but unfortunately nothing like I used to get in Korea, particularly in 춘천. I think that's to be expected though. I'm still happy that they have it as an option.
