Maybe one of the best dining experiences I have had in this area. It was nice having a simple upscale restaurant finally in this area. It had a large metro city feel but yet still cozy. The food!!! It's definitely an experience. I would recommend getting a counter seat so you can try your temaki piece by piece. I got the signature set and my husband got the pieces ala carte. If you're a raw fish lover, just get the sushi ala carte. The signature set has too many cooked options. My husband's favorite was the toro and mine was the scallops. For my sister's last day in town, we decided to dine in at Nami Nori. I've heard so many great things about this place so I couldn't wait to try it out with her. Once we parked in the parking garage, we were able to walk right in to Atlantic Park, which was absolutely beautiful! Nami Nori is in the perfect location, right next to the Wave Garden. The restaurant had a very modern, eclectic vibe and was set up beautifully. I love the views and they even have outdoor seating. Christian, our bartender, was absolutely wonderful. He explained the concept of the Temaki and gave us time to look over the menu. He made us Pineapple Margaritas that were amazing!!! We knew we wanted the Caviar Service so that was brought out first. The caviar was delicate, savory and went great with the rice chips and onion cream. I finally decided on the Tuna Poke, X.O Scallop, Salmon Serrano, Spicy Lobster, Yellowtail & Scallion and Toro & Scallion. All of them tasted great but my favorite was the Spicy Lobster and X.O Scallop. The Coconut Shrimp that my sister ordered was amazing as well. First visit. We made reservations on OpenTable and were so excited! With all of the hype and overall reviews, I was certain this would be a great experience. Nami Nori, according to the hostess, is reservations only and there's a strict time limit. We were about 7 minutes late and were told they could still seat us, but asked if we'd be able to finish our meal by 6:30 PM for the next reservation. Being our first time, I wasn't entirely sure how to gauge timing, especially since food prep is out of our control. We agreed and were excited to give it a try. Initially, we were seated at the temaki bar. I'm short, so all I could see was a wall, not waves. We asked to move so we could view the wave pool and were reseated beside other couples. Not a lot of privacy, but all good. We ordered several appetizers: wasabi cucumbers, crab dip, potato salad, and miso soup. The crab dip was delicious. We love pimento cheese, and this was a nice twist. I believe it used snow crab rather than local blue crab, which surprised me a bit. The potato salad and cucumbers were good, though fairly standard. The miso soup was a little different from what's typically served in the area, but still tasty. The space itself is beautiful, and the wave pool view was a highlight, at least until another guest closed the curtains. The overall atmosphere felt a bit more on the formal/curated side, which may appeal to some, though for me it came across slightly more polished than a relaxed beach vibe I was expecting. We did experience a longer wait for our entrees (about 20-25 minutes), which made us a little nervous given the earlier time limit. During that time, we noticed some service hiccups--another table was upset because their boxed leftovers were accidentally thrown away, and our dirty dishes were left sitting and began to pile up. A quick note: the restroom water runs extremely hot--almost scalding--so please be cautious, especially with little ones. Also, the soap dispenser is mounted on a side wall near head level rather than next to the faucet, which caught me off guard & felt a little awkward. Ahh, finally, our food arrived. We had almost considered canceling due to the wait. We asked if it was okay to take our time since we had been told earlier about the 6:30 cutoff, and the hostess let us know we were fine, which we appreciated--it just felt a bit inconsistent from the initial interaction. I wasn't expecting the lower counter but it was still a good experience (I would've preferred the high stop counter). Our server made sure to explain the process to us which you order 5 pieces and they come up on the counter and once you eat it, you place your wooden holder back up for them to send out your next piece. The crab dip was pretty good with the big rice puff chips. Each piece already comes with wasabi so you can request it be removed but I would suggest just keeping it on there. Because of the pricing, I can see coming here for special occasions, when I feel like splurging, or during Restaurant Week. We tried items from the Restaurant Week lunch menu and a few regular-menu additions. The following items were included in the $20 Restaurant Week lunch: *Nami nori salad: Delicious -- iceberg lettuce with a creamy dressing and spicy seasoned rice chips that added texture and crunch, plus juicy tomatoes to whet your palate. *Miso soup: Served hot with fried tofu and shredded carrots. It was perfect on a 20-degree day. *Temaki (hand rolls): Served one at a time at the counter. *Crispy oyster: Surprisingly good (and I don't even like oysters). Savory and balanced, crispy from frying, tender inside, and creamy from garlic hollandaise. Pickled onions added the right tartness. *Crispy fish: Tucked under shredded lettuce but stood out with juicy, hot, tender flavor. *Spicy crab dynamite: Packed a punch -- spicy and satisfying. All ingredients tasted fresh and the nori was crisp. Although I was full, I made room for dessert: the seasonal blood orange pavlova (additional charge). It was plated beautifully, but the blood oranges were very tart and slightly bitter -- I wouldn't order it again. My husband ordered additional rolls (including a salmon serrano). For drinks we had Kirin and a white-peach Japanese soda, which was mild and pleasant. On my second visit with a friend and my sister we were seated near the window with a view of the surf park (closed at the time). We again did the Restaurant Week lunch and tried furikake fries with ketchup and mentaiko mayo -- the mayo is spicy but delicious; I highly recommend the fries with the mayo. The monchurros were also excellent: soft, chewy, served hot with a citrusy cream. Practical details: The entrance is off Pacific Ave. Parking is street or metered; there are several parking lots within a short walk. We ordered the signature set and the classic set and I customized my set of rolls. I love that everything was assembled in front of us. You could see how fresh all the ingredients were and the simplicity of flavors were put together beautifully! For a dessert, we tried both of the sweet offerings. One of them was a churro made out of mochi with this delicious lemon Yuzu sauce. It was airy, not too chewy, just the right amount of crunch and sweetness, and the sauce paired perfectly with it. The portion was generous enough that what remained found its way into our rolls, which was either inspired or inevitable. Probably both. All five compete for the top spot, but the XO scallops were sweet, fresh, and savory in a way that earns a second order. All the ones from the left column of the menu like the coconut shrimp, XO scallop, fried oyster, etc that we tried were the best ones in our opinion. They were unfortunately out of the lobster one when we went which was disappointing since we all wanted to try that one. Overall, we had a good experience and the food tasted good and fresh. However, the pricing did not align for me so for that reason we would probably not visit again. For 4 of us our bill was a little over $600, which was not worth it to me. Was really wanting to like this place, but I don't think it's my style. HOWEVER, there are many good things about it, so this is a 3.9 star review. Service and ambiance was great--the location is beautiful and so were the views. The chicken karaage was delicious as was the paired dipping sauce. The sushi rice was VERY authentic (if you've been to Japan, you'll know) but I found the temaki toppings underwhelming. I'll preface this by saying I am not huge on seafood so I chose all of the vegetarian/vegan options aside from the coconut shrimp. I would be willing to come back. read more

Walking in to the an oasis where you have the perfect view of the Atlantic park to see the waves while enjoying beautiful crafted temaki style sushi roll made right there in front of you with a nice variety of selection. I went for more traditional starting with a red crab California very rich and creamy with both the crab and avocado adding that freshness with the cucumber to balanced it out. Following with that I try something new the X.O scallops very different and light with the right amount of acidity and pairing that with tuna poke had a smoky taste to it with some crunchy texture on top to contrast the flavors. And my last choice and my now new favorite is the yellowtail + scallion. All their rolls are gluten free and their perfect portion. The services were nice and she was very attentive to make sure we enjoy every moment and guided us on how the layout of service the sushi part versus the appetizers. This spot is perfect for date night with the intimate vibe to it and it has a nice layout to have a good view and enjoy some company and perfect for lunch. Definitely will be back to try their caviar roll it's on my next visit and I would recommend this place if you want to experience sushi in a different way. read more

The restaurant's layout is very open and airy; however, it makes it hard to have conversations with a group. The hostess should be more aware of the area around the restaurant, especially the parking. A friend of mine was on crutches, so we needed to park close to the restaurant. The hostess sent us to an area that was farther away from the restaurant than the parking garage we passed walking to it. Dining at Nami Nori is an interactive food experience. The rolls were packed with flavor and umami. The signature set was the best way to sample a variety of the handroll options. The salmon serrano is a standout. I wish they offered the vegan set, which is available at their New York location. The bartender made a non-alcoholic version of their matchtini, and it was delicious. The special nori salt used on the rim of the glass was an added touch. read more
