Nammos Estiatorio is an excellent Greek dining experience on Fraser in Vancouver. It's an excellent date night option as it is super romantic at night. The eggplant dish was so good I wanted to eat all of it. It was super fresh and delicious. It wasn't too salty and all the flavors were just right. The risotto was one of the best ones I've had in Vancouver! Sorry, no picture because I really just wanted to eat it all. Again, all of the flavors were amazing and I finished all of it. So unfortunate . One of our closest places to our home tonight just did not deliver food at prices that were worthy. The servicer was great the food lacked flavor. One example was octopus. In eArlier visits it was grilled and melt in your mouth amazing. Tonight it was chopped into little pieces and served on a bland mound of mushed chick peas. Seriously bad. On menu was $18. It was an appy size. Bill arrives and it was $22!!! Seriously for bad food? I think the greek chef may have left the building. This is my first time trying Nammos, and I have to say I was a little disappointed. The interior was very cute with Greek accents everywhere, and the server was really nice. The yelp reviews were also pretty high, and that played a big factor to our decision making. However, the dishes was mediocre and pricey for what you're getting. Between five people, we had to order approximately 7-10 dishes, and the bill came to be on the higher end. However, the portions were small and the flavours for each dish was neither special nor flavourful. Breakdown for each dish: The spicy feta didn't come with enough pitas for the portion, and tasted like pizza pizza's cheddar jalapeño pizza dip. The calamari had no flavour, and they didn't give enough taziki. The grilled cheese was good, but slightly too stale after a few minutes. The watermelon salad was flavourless. I've dined here twice and in my opinion this restaurant should have between 4.5 and 5 stars. Some items are way better value and some are small and fancy, but unlike many places, I've found the servers here are very helpful in navigating the menu to get what you are looking for. The vegetarian moussaka is very filling and delicious. For 22 bucks in the year 2023 with inflation and everything I am honestly surprised; best value item on the menu for sure. Pair it with any appy and you should be stuffed. If you aren't then I think you need to take a look in the mirror. The server did make a mistake on our bill but corrected it. They also comped my mom's dessert cause it was her birthday. The dolmathes are definitely the worst value option but I always get them anyway because they are that good. Someone posted in a review here that they tasted canned. Either they changed the recipe or that person had mental issues because only an idiot would think these things came out of a can. They are incredible. 14 bucks for 4 is a rip off but try one and tell me you can resist the temptation lol. The salad was so fresh...the dips were amazing, the pita warm and delicious. I can't say anything bad about this place other than that initial bill mistake, but mistakes happen and they made it right, so all is well! read more

Wow. Our group of 4 decided to try this place based on the reviews. It did not disappoint. We agreed together that this was the best Greek food any of us has eaten. The appetizers we're delicious and the main courses were fantastic. Moussaka, Halibut, Souvlaki and lemon roasted potatoes were all exceptional. The flavors were deep but not overpowering. We went with the recommendation of sharing plates. Highly recommend having the Ekmek for dessert. Friendly service and great food. What more can you ask for. read more

Came here with some coworkers. We ordered ahead of time as sometimes it takes a while for the food to come out. They were really good in this regards as we had made reservations and placed our orders at the same time. By the time we got there, we were seated and the food came out just as we sat. They knew we had a time limit for our lunch so they were very accommodating. The server was great, very friendly and pleasant. She ensured that we had plenty of water and that we were okay with what we had. The food was good. I had the moussaka, which had good blend of flavours. It had eggplant, zucchini, potatoes, ground beef and béchamel. I could have eaten another one but I should probably try other items. My coworkers had ordered sandwiches for lunch, which they enjoyed. I came to visit Nammos on a Saturday evening after my golf practice. It was quite a wait even at 8 pm we got seated at the bar with the reservation. We had eggplants as the appetizer and lamb rack as the main course. The eggplants came with pita, just for FYI, the pita was the best I've ever had! I personally love the cumin on the pita to balance the flavor of the eggplants. The lamb was amazing too. I would give 5/5 to the first time try out, no disappointment at all. We are frequent repeat customers at Nammos however tonight was a fail. We ordered right away when I sat down fava/pita, dolmathes, greek salad and beef/chicken souvlaki. The fava/dolmathes came right away and was delicious. Then nothing......we waited and waited and waited someone came to take away some of our empty dishes. I finally asked a server if they could check on our food. They said the souvlaki will be out in 10 minutes, something about their system down. I said what about the Greek salad? she said I'll check. She comes back it will be out in a minute. OK....we wait and wait and wait and still nothing far past a minute. I flagged our server and said we'd like our bill we are really disappointed and just want to go home. She said it's going to come out in a minute and then leaves. We wait and wait...she comes back with our bill for $37.80 and says the reason it took long is because I staggered the order. No apology, no let me get the manager for you. So we left hungry and disappointed. Sadly we will not be your repeat customers anymore. It's too bad as the food is good but the service is not. read more

Local greek restaurant around fraser street! I'm actually so happy that I live nearby this restaurant. I honestly don't know why I've been walking/driving by this place so many times and not given this place a chance. It was me and my partners first time coming here and I believe it was also our first time trying out a tapas place too. We ordered the 'kalamari', 'chicken souvlaki', and their meatballs (forgot the name, we had to get our server to repeat it a couple of times - still hasn't processed lol). Their calamari was cooked right to the bone (expression, it's boneless clearly) - I love my calamari crunchy! The chicken souvlaki was amazing. My partner loved his decision on choosing their special deal with the meatballs. The entire menu has it's reasonable price, and honestly, it's all worth it. Great location and room, and this is elevated Greek food by Vancouver's standards but the value just isn't there. Call me old school but when I leave a Greek restaurant I want to waddle my ass out just barely able to walk and to know some cute woolly animal sacrificed themselves for my pleasure. The tapas style is just not for me,. $8 for a single skewer of chicken on a tiny bed of cous cous. Delicious, above average even, but unless you have money to burn,.. it just seemed like the value wasn't there and I was conscious of the laughable portion sizes every time another one was rolled out. Yum. We wandered past here on a Wednesday evening and managed to get a table without a reservation. I am really glad we did! I loooove Greece and Greek food. It is one of the things I miss most about Europe. Some things were a little less traditional here, but they were all really tasty, and that is what I care about! - The Melitzanosalata (smoked eggplant) is perfect. - The watermelon and feta salad was lovely! If I could give this place more stars, I would cut them out of the sky and give them to you! I am that happy about my experience here! Being a vegan and GF has made my Greek food life nonexistent. This place not only offers my kind of food, but they also excel at it!! Our server, Jamie, was an absolute star. She was very attentive, quick, and allowed us to enjoy our meal while making sure we had everything we needed! Thank you! The place is super cute. Booths and tables fill the restaurant, and they have a good size bar that serves up gorgeous looking cocktails. I ordered the soup of the day (lentil). Very fresh and full of lentils. Tomato based and very smooth. A little pricy ($10) but I didn't mind because it was really good. Then I had the Dolmathes. Hot and fresh served with a wedge of lemon. It was so unbelievably delicious and very filling. Lastly, I had the Melitzana (baked half eggplant, onions, peppers, garlic, tomato) and this dish alone, made me want to be a better person. I have been to this restaurant two times and both tines loved the food except a few inconsistencies. Both time we got lucky with the street parking, which is otherwise difficult to find. Till now we have tried grilled sea bass, eggplant dip, lamb chops, octopus and prawns. I loved the eggplant dip. It was perfectly seasoned and tasted really good with warm pita bread. Lamb chops are to die for and highly recommended. They were perfectly seasoned. I ordered medium cooked and they were cooked perfectly. Sea bass was slightly over cooked but was seasoned nicely. Finally was able to try out Nammos for my best friend's birthday. There were 4 of us but 1 wasn't hungry and decided to get the chocolate cake so realistically we were eating for 3. A greek restaurant where the menu is designed for sharing, family-style dining. On average, each menu item was $8-$20 so fairly reasonable when splitting the bill. We got the patzarosalata (beet salad), calamari, moussaka, 3 souvlakia, beef, chicken and pork. The patzarosalata was a cold, refreshing beet salad topped with sunflower seeds. The dressing was slightly acidic and mild and the beets were in big chunks. The calamari surprisingly wasn't served with tzatziki sauce (which they charge extra for) but instead with a beet dip. The whole dish wasn't heavy at all with the light crispy batter and nicely fried squid, not super chewy. The moussaka reminded me of a Shepard's pie with the thick potato layer and crispy cheese on top. The bottom layers were eggplant and ground beef. A creamy, rich dish. The 3 souvlakia were all served the same way with a bulgar salad and tzatziki sauce. The meat skewers were big chunks of 4-6 pieces that covered the entire stick. The chicken was my favourite one as it was the juiciest. Lastly, we tried our friends chocolate cake that was served with the salted caramel ice cream from earnest next door. Overall, all the dishes were super delicious and nicely portioned that left us stuffed. The bill ended up only being $20 per person. Definitely will come back for the great greek food. read more

My boyfriend and I were doing our usual, trying to figure out somewhere to eat, before everythings' closed. We settled upon Nammos Estiatorio, we had been quite a few times before and both the food and the service has always been good. Also they are open quite late for the area, which I love. We started with the calamari, but we asked for a side of tzaiki instead of the beet dip, it is usually served with. I much prefer it this way. They have good calamari, never oily. We followed that with Avgolemono Soup, which was delicious and tangy. Next we had a chicken and prawn souvlaki, which were tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. Also, I love the bulgar salad that comes with them. It's a great healthy addition to the meal. We also ordered the paidakia (grilled lamb chops), I don't usually enjoy lamb, but I do enjoy paidakia when done right... and these were delicious, not too gamey. To our delight the paidakia also came with another serving of the delicious bulgar salad. Then we had a special salad feature, watermelon and halloumi salad. This was the only thing I didn't love. The watermelon lacked favour and I would have much preferred grilled over deep fried halloumi, but now we know. Next time we will stick to the Horiatiki (Greek salad) or the beet salad which are both delicious, and feel healthier. I wasn't going to get dessert, but I couldn't resist trying the strawberry cheesecake (Fraoula) and I'm so glad I did. WOW! I love cheesecakes like this; perfect, soft, no bake cheesecake, served in a cup with delicious strawberry sauce. My bf and I were literally fighting over it. I also want to note, the service here is always great. It has that family run restaurant vibe, the service feels personalized and everyone seems to really care to make sure you have a good experience. Which is kind of rare these days. Went to Nammos Estiatorio for lunch with my mother today. Had read the reviews for this restaurant and some people had said it was the best Greek food they had eaten in Vancouver. We were sadly disappointed. It was very over priced for the quality. Our total bill was $88 plus 15% tip which made it $102. That's a very expensive lunch! I wouldn't have minded if the food was exceptional, but it was pretty average. The BEST Greek food in Vancouver is undoubtedly 'The Greek' in Yaletown or Gastown. And if you book with 'First Table' you can get 50% off your bill. Even at full price, your food will cost considerably less than at Nammos Estiatorio. The Lemon potato's were essentially fried hash browned potatoes with a lemon drizzle sauce on them. - Not authentic Greek style. I can say this because we are actually half Greek. Our server was friendly. The restaurant was empty but to be fair it was Thanksgiving Monday. Save your money and go to 'The Greek' you'll thank me... Their food is exceptional! read more

I've never been to a tapas based Greek restaurant and I don't think I'd go to another. Just imagine the regular food you'd get at a Greek restaurant on a large dinner platter, separated with the prices increased dramatically ($9 for potatoes?!). You would think for the price increase the food would taste better but it didn't. It wasn't bad, it was just not better than the other restaurants that sell the same food for a lower price. We went on a Sunday so there was a brunch menu as well. My mom ordered the pulled lamb eggs Benedict. There was a very sad amount of meat in it and didn't really taste like lamb to me. I felt like they should've at least added enough fruit to fill the little dish more but alas. The potatoes were good. I ordered the moussaka and it was fine. Really not much to add about it. We live around some of the most fancy desert places like Sweet Obsessions and Thomas Hass so we wanted something that we had tasted at the Greek days here in our neighbourhood called Loukoumates. I called the restaurant and the guy gave me a detailed explanation about how theirs was made. He recommended that we try Bougatsa. He guaranteed me that we would love it and we were blown away. It's takes 15 mins and we took a take out. It was hot and tasty and our new favourite is this desert. Beautiful restaurant clean and very professional service. Customers were stopping in to make reservations for next week. At first he thought I wanted to come that night to eat as he was fully booked on a Thursday night. This restaurant was such a letdown. I had high expectations based on reviews. The food was below average. I had a leg of lamb that was very dry and flavorless. When I find my own cooking better than that of a professional chef, I believe there is a quality problem somewhere. My dining partner got the whole grilled Mediterranean sea bass, which came with no side. Although he enjoyed his fish, it was far from a culinary bliss! The decor is nice only if you don't pay attention to the giant TV screen behind the bar. Personally I go to a restaurant to disconnect from screens and enjoy the human ambiance. If I want to follow sport I go to a sports bar. In conclusion, I don't recommend this restaurant to anybody who wants to have a pleasurable culinary experience, especially to those who know Greek food, and who want to chill out without having to watch guys running after a ball. read more

THIS IS NOT A GREEK RESTAURANT. I would not recommend this place. First of all, their chicken tasted like dried curry chicken that doesn't even mix well. They don't serve rice with their chicken souvlaki instead it's bulgar which is a type of grain. When I called in to talk to the manager about the quality of the food that I had thrown out because it wasn't edible. He had told me he would not give me a refund and that was ok but the second thing to do to is to replace the meal but he also didn't offer that. He was being petty and unreasonable. They should learn a thing about customer service. I was really looking forward to them! Anyway, they gave me a refund, but I was still a little disappointed. Kalamari (3/5) This were pretty average. I thought that the batter could be less thick, and that the dish was less oily. Not bad, though. Kolokithakia Tiganita [Fried zucchini crisps] (4/5) This were kind of addictive. I couldn't stop myself from eating them. They were too salty and oily, but other than that the flavour was good and I liked it. Vegetarian moussaka (4.5/5) This is one of the better moussakas that I've had. The mashed potato at the top was perfectly creamy and cheesy, and the ingredients seemed pretty fresh. This was an excellent, flavourful dish, and I wish it was bigger so I could have more of it. Melitzanosalata [Eggplant dip] (2/5) This was my first time trying Melitzanosalata, and I heard great things about it online, so I decided to try it because I love eggplant. It wasn't really what I expected it to taste like, and I wasn't a huge fan of it. That might just be me though, I'm not too sure. Revithokeftedes [Chickpea fritters] (1/5) I did not like these. I thought it would be like falafel, which I love, but the batter was thick, dense and soggy instead of crisp, airy and light. The filly also tasted strange, and the texture was kind of glutinous. It wasn't inedible, but I wasn't a fan. Overall, not too bad. I would recommend the moussaka and the zucchini crisps. If I could give 0 star I would have given that. We spent 100$ for 5 person for food and we were still hungry and had to have a dinner after that. Their portion size is extremely small and price is way to much and even if the food was tasty i would have got that. but their dolmades was unedible and the chicken souvlaki was extremely salty. The food was great, BUT way too expensive!! I prefer the traditional Greek platter offered at other places. Here you have to order everything separately. We tried: -Dolmathes (stuffed vine leaves) - very good, probably the best I've had of these. -Large platter with souvlaki, lamb chops, potatoes, etc. The quality was great on all the meats I tried and I loved the potatoes and the tzatziki! A little pricey for the portion but with such high quality probably worth it. -Asparagus risotto with halloumi (special) - I found this very salty but my friends loved it. -Desserts - Loukoumades (greek donuts), very hot and fresh!, Bougatsu, and baclava. Nammos is a neighbourhood Greek restaurant along Fraser Street. The idea is that it's more of a tapas/share-plates type of vibe. We came with a group of 7 and the recommendation was to order approximately 6-9 dishes altogether and to share everything, however we decided to split off our bills to couples/individuals, but ended up sharing most of our dishes anyways lol! Nammos makes that part easy. Dolmathes: rice & herbs wrapped in vine leaf w/yogurt sauce - it was really tasty but I found the yogurt sauce to be a touch too sour. It was my first time trying Dolmathes and I was worried the vine leaves would taste extremely earthy, but it's actually got a very mild taste! Kalamari - omg, they were fried to perfection. I loved the beet dip that came with it too. Generous with the portion as well! Keftedes: homemade meatballs w/tomato sauce - it was good however a touch dry! Really enjoyed the tomato dip that came with it too. Moussaka (beef version) - it's similar to a Sheperd's Pie w/eggplant, zucchini, potatoes, ground beef & bechamel sauce. I thought the eggplant and zucchini got lost under the potatoes and ground beef. The potatoes were great in that it was just hearty enough without making you feel like it was too rich! Pastitsio: Greek baked lasagna - extremely similar to the Moussaka in presentation, but the cheese/potato part is a richer flavour. They also use penne or maybe macaroni in their layering instead of pasta sheets which I thought was cool in presentation. Arni Psito: roasted lamb shoulder - I enjoyed this dish a lot & it could definitely be a Main on its own if you ordered another appy to share. It was hearty and the lemon potatoes were mild & not overly sour. I'd come back to Nammos but would definitely try to relay to my party about the share-style and to be wary of what they order to leave full. However with a hearty Greek meal and decent portion sizing, I feel like this is one of those tapas places where you will leave satisfied! read more

We we're disappointed with the bill which included 20% additional Group Gratitude charges AFTER TAXES. please note.... 1. In Vancouver, "group" special tips is typically applied to a group of 8+ 2. the restaurant staff should let us know about the extra charges at Reservation time, or at least upon customers arrival. 3. tips should not be applied to the Total bill, but rather to the total BEFORE taxes. Just went here for dinner for my mom's bday. It was our first time at this place. Great first impression of the place, little on the fancy side and the staff and service were great. The only thing that's preventing me to give a 5 stars is because some of our dish order (calamari, veal and lamb roast) was a little on the salty side. The grilled octopus was to die for just a warning not to eat a big piece, probably eat in a dime or nickel size piece cause anything bigger than that is a work out on your mouth cause it chewy but not rubbery. The Greek salad was the bomb. We love the big piece of the creamy almost like goat cheese texture of the feta cheese and the added capers. Nice fresh restaurant, great decor but unfortunately an overall mixed experience with the food. The food that was freshly cooked was amazing, but other food was clearly reheated and came out as such was not. Try and avoid food that is likely to be reheated. (Aka., Greek potatoes, spanakopita) It's unfortunate, because the rest of the dishes were amazing. Grilled Octopus, chicken souvlaki, lamb chops were great. Saganaki was beautifully prepared and cooked, not too oily, just the way it should be, perfect! Price with drinks was not exorbitantly princely, but not cheap either. I think if they can iron out their kitchen issues around having to reheat some dishes (all dishes should be fresh) and not burn them, it is destined to be one of the best Greek restaurants in town, but until then it's at best 4 stars.
