We could order with the cashier or with our phone and they will serve it right to our table. Mostly self-service, quick and simple. - Peri-peri chicken bowl ($13) - Like a chicken salad bowl. Flavor was so good! The chicken was pretty moist. There was rice, protein, veggies, and hummus. - Half chicken with chips - ($16) - The chicken meat was soo juicy and tender. A bit on the sour side since it was mango- lime flavor. But so good. I also love the thick fries! - We also tried their special sauces. The sauces were more on the sour side with lemon/lime flavor. There are levels of spiciness too. We tried the extra extra hot...not spicy at all. And I know when the spiciness burns. This level was nothing to me. Wonder if they put it in the wrong bottle. My friend had Nando's in London and she was so excited that there was a location in Chicago so we had to check it out. The prior night we passed by another location and saw a crazy long line, so we planned to come here right at opening time to avoid waiting. My friend and I both had the 3 Chicken Thighs with one side ($14.19). She had it with the Peri Chips aka Fries and added their Garlic Mayo (extra $1.00). I asked for the Charred Sweet Potatoes, but they ran out so I swapped it for the Butternut Squash and Corn. And we're still on vacation for we also got a pitcher of their Red Wine Sangria ($21.89). While we were waiting, my friend went and gathered over all of the sauces. Like literally one of each sauce. She is obsessed! There was a peri peri lemon & herb, peri peri wild herb, peri peri garlic, peri peri medium and peri peri hot. When the food came out I was surprised to see skinny thighs. No wonder why my friend recommended the 3 thighs. When I go to other chicken places back home, I'm usually full off 2 thighs but these were skinny thighs. Also they were boneless so pretty easy to eat. The chicken at Nando's is marinated for over 24 hours so they are really well flavored. I actually like them fine without any extra sauces. They sauces were too salty for me. I just wish the skin was crispier. Soggy chicken skin is no good. I normally like butternut squash and corn but this preparation was pretty bland and nothing special. Would have been better if they had the charred sweet potatoes I initially wanted. The real highlight for me when I was at Nando's was that sangria we got. It had a good amount of fresh fruits that absorbed the sangria and it was fun to snack on, especially the apple pieces. Yum. It was a nice and healthy meal but nothing I "need" to have again. If I see it again in another city I visit, I probably wouldn't waste travel time on it. This place made me miss the Midwest... the staff here, every single one of them, were so friendly. They did not care that we walked in 30 mins before closing. We managed to get out on time, but they told us we could stay an extra 10 or 15 minutes if we needed it. They were so helpful with many great recommendations. And the sauce got put away before we had a chance to get some, so they offered to grab us some. And a large bowl at that! The chicken was moist and flavorful. And the fries were crispy and tasty. This location in Streeterville was hip, but casual and seemed to market to the young urban crowd and the lunch crowd. Nando's for the uninitiated is a fast service establishment that serves grilled chicken in their secret Peri-Peri sauce...meaning if you like spice, this is the place for you. It's more refined than a KFC and healthier than a Jollibee. We ordered the Boneless Breast plate with a side of greens and the 3 Chicken Thighs plate with their Mac & Cheese. The chicken on both dishes were cooked to perfection. Juicy and spicy, just the way I remembered it. You can also add extra Peri Peri sauce or their Peri Peri sauce with garlic and we did both. I've eaten Nando's Peri Peri sauce before, but I have never had a chance to try a Nando's location. I ordered a Peri Chicken Rainbow bowl, Golden Cauliflower, Macho Peas, and a Naughty Nata to go. Nando's is about 1 block from my hotel, so I left a few minutes early and got there right at the time my order was supposed to be ready. My order wasn't ready when I got there, and I ended up waiting about 10 minutes, which was fine. The ladies in the front were very nice, and brought my order to the seat I was sitting at when it was ready. I grabbed a couple of sauces to go and was on my way. Once I walked back to my hotel, I opened everything up. They actually labeled each individual box of food, which is a small detail but a really important one that almost no restaurant does. The rainbow bowl had a nice presentation. The chicken had a nice char on the outside and was moist and flavorful. The pickled cauliflower was crunchy, and it was balanced out well by the creamy hummus in the bowl. The base layer of rice was also very flavorful, and although it didn't look like a ton of food, it was pretty substantial. The macho peas tasted fresh and were delicious. I ended up throwing those in my bowl as well. The golden cauliflower had a very light sweetness to complement the smokiness from the char also. Both sides were very good. The naughty nata I got was decent, but to be fair, I think it should have been eaten right away since it got a bit cold after sitting for a while. First, the entire staff at this location is great! Super friendly, super helpful. Second, the chicken is really good! Very moist. We walked by this spot all week, and decided to try it before heading to the airport, and I'm glad we did. My husband is having a long stay at Northwestern Medicine, and we wanted to try something other than the hospital food for dinner. I've heard so many good things about Nando's, and they are near the hospital, we thought we'd give it a try. Ordering online was easy, and although there was a short wait for the food when I arrived to pick it up, the servers greeted me with a smile and were friendly. There is a large sit-down area for the restaurant, and it looks casual and hip. The food was good. We ordered two chicken breast sandwiches. The chicken was thick and moist, but the flavors/heat-levels we ordered were more on the subtle side. Sides were okay. The corn on the cob was overcooked (the kernels were puckered) and under-seasoned, and the red skin mashed potatoes were a bit flavorless. If Yelp allowed half-star ratings, I would say that Nando's is truly more of a 3.5 than a 4. For a restaurant that hovers between casual sit-down and fast-food, it's good. That said, dinner for two totaled over $40, and I didn't even have a drink. So, it certainly isn't fast food inexpensive. read more

First time trying the Nando's restaurant after much raving from their signature hot sauce being marinaded on their flame grilled wings. I adore their chicken liver. Overall: Nando's PERi-PERi cooks up some tasty grilled chicken and sides. Food: 4 PERi-PERi Chicken: Their signature flamed grilled chicken is flavorful with just a hint of spice. I like the Mango & Lime or Lime & Herb sauce. It's the most well balanced and isn't spicy. I always get dark meat and appreciate that it is not super fatty or oily and that the meat is still tender and juicy. Sides: The garlic bread is AMAZING and is a must get with the meal. The PERi fries are just ok to me since I don't really like the PERi salt used for the fries. In terms of how much to order, I would say 1/2 chicken with 1 side or 1/4 chicken with 2 sides is enough for someone that does not eat a lot, but anyone with a bigger appetite should get 1/2 chicken with 2 sides. Service: 5 Nando's is a quick eatery where you order at the counter and servers will bring food out to your table. The best way I can describe it is reasonably priced, well seasoned fast food. And the music and decorations add to the overall experience. We were greeted by the hostess who asked us had we been there before. We hadn't and she gave us menus and offered to explain anything on the menu. We ordered 6 Peri Peri wings hot, with the xtra hot sauce on the side. The wings were tinder and juicy. The hot sauce was great and I dipped mine in the xtra hot sauce. Loved those wings. We also ordered grilled corn on the cob, coleslaw, Peri Peri chips (fries) with perimayo for dipping and macho peas which were really great. Everything was very fresh and the flavors were great. This probably was the best experience we've had in a Nando's Peri-Peri resto. First, their chicken and sauce are to die for (at least for us). We love Nando's flavor as it varies from no spice, mild to the hot and spicy ones. This is one of those restaurants where ALL 4 of us in the family never think twice, yes, and that includes a 2 year old boy. We discovered their meal combo or something that includes 2 whole chicken and 2 large sides. This was the best option for us, not only that it really fills us up, there's still at least 2 large pieces left (8 large pieces in this combo) left for us to eat at the hotel or when we get back home. A simple heating in the oven does the trick of eating this. Their sauces are so awesome, you can take home too with the leftovers, so you still get that awesome meal the next day. Now for the experience, their menu is digital, you need to scan and it will give you the menu. Other than that, you can order through it, which to me is pretty awesome because when you're ready to order, you won't need the servers to come to you. Just input your order and the table number and you're done! Now we had a special experience particular to this store. They didn't have enough thigh to fulfill the order that we made, so their kind server asked us if we can swap the 2 thighs with 2 breasts, that's a no brainer for us so we responded, YES.. then the surprise came, we were given 4 extra drinks and a dessert for free! In my mind that is not necessary since we really like their food and for me personally, I like the breast than the thigh part. But they insisted and so we got those free. Stopped in for lunch as part of a Yelp invite and was quite pleasantly surprised by how fresh the food was and moreover how attentive and kind the staff is here. Not only did I get to pick one of their popular bowls plus a drink but the manager came to each table asking how the food was and if anything was needed. Everything was made to order and just the right portion for a lunch. The ambiance was cheerful and bright, the music playing complimented the African-vibes and everything was very clean. On the way out, I was thanked by two staff members for coming in and one even said "we appreciate you coming in to visit us" - that alone sealed the deal for me to come back! And nando's fries are always excellent, or at least that's been my experience. Service was fast and friendly. Our favorite dinner spot during our Chicago trip. This place was just one minute walking distance away from our hotel (Courtyard by Marriott Chicago Downtown). The inside of this place was nice, clean, and well-decorated. Their food was so good, and the service was awesome. My favorite is just the quarter leg or the grilled skin on, chicken thighs. There are numerous spice levels. The hot or extra hot wasn't spicy in my opinion but it gave it a good flavor, for comparison I usually order medium at Thai restaurants. I tasted everything in there: the tomato cucumber & onion salad has a good tartness, the pickled cauliflower was also good, but not as tart. The hummus is different than the mediterranean varieties I have tried: it was a lot smoother. And the feta and superseed crunch were a nice touch. The dark piece of chicken (thigh+drumstick) was juicy and the skin was flavorful, but the white piece of chicken breast was a little on the dry side for me.
