It was my first time here taking out tonight, and I must say I'm very pleased and full. Nanking is your typical, Chinese-Indian bistro. I must say I was at her surprised when I came in, I expected an average set up. The place is well decorated, you can technically have a business lunch or anything here. Anyways aside from a nice set up, the food was good. I had their Chinese style chicken fried rice, Sweet corn soup, and chicken biryani. Although expensive, you get your money's worth. The containers were filled to capacity, and the food was great! I'm a huge soup fan, and I have to say that the Sweet Corn soup had a nice savory taste. Thankfully I do not have to go to Hillside Ave too much anymore for soup like this :). The fried rice was good too, I liked how it had enough salt and pepper. So my tastebuds were satisfied at the end.My favorite part was mainly their biryani. The biryani was rich and had a different texture to it. I cannot describe it, but it looked like the rice had been made from a milk base rather than a water base. At the end it was pricey, but worth it. Looked like great Indo Chinese options. Ordered delivery.. fried rice, veg Manchurian and papaya salad. Not one of these dishes tasted right. The Manchurian tasted bitter and burnt and the fried rice was bright orange with no taste. Papaya salad was cut to think. read more

Restaurant's service and quality has gone downhill the last 2 times I've ordered from here there are problems ! They often give me mushy rice instead of the basmati that I request,when I ask for spice to be mild it is ignored and instead I get extreme heat to the point my kids can't even eat it ,and when I ordered 3 naan at $2 each they gave me two cut into four pieces REALLY! Everything was great. Exceeded expectations. We had tom yam that was flavorful and addicting. We also tried the sweet corn soup which was very light and stock based, not thick or creamy at all. Again delicious. The papaya salad had a thicker dressing than what we're use to but it was fresh and another addicting dish. Pretty disappointed. This place is only good for fried rice and Indian entrees. Only some Asian entrees are good like the hot garlic fried rice and hot garlic chicken. We had chicken malai kebabs as our appetizer. The chicken malai kebab was a bit raw and we had to send it back. Our entrees on the other hand took forever. We asked the waiter what was up. The waiter was waiting for the appetizers to come back? This made our entrees cold. We had to ask for him to bring the ready entrees because we don't know how long he was waiting for! Common sense! Anyways, the chicken was very rubbery in the Hot Garlic and Chili Chicken entrees. The hot garlic entree tasted much better than the chili chicken despite both of these entrees having rubbery chicken. These entrees came with rice and naan. The rice was very sticky and not cooked right. The naans were really good though! The chicken tikka masala was decent. Dal came with it and it was good and very creamy. Overall, I guess this place is not what it used to be. They are only good with certain hot garlic dishes and some Indian dishes. Their hakka noodles and chili chicken are pretty bad. read more

A friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant about a year ago on our quest for food before we had a night on the town and I've been coming back ever since. The food is FANTASTIC. This is the best chicken tikka masala I've ever had. The service is unbeatable. The hostess, the servers, and the bartenders just seem so happy to be at work which sounds odd but great for the customer. The restaurant itself is very clean as well. As for the drinks, the thai iced tea is so yummy for those that prefer a non-alcoholic beverage but for those of you that prefer a cocktail these drinks can not be beat. All of their drinks are delicious and the bartender does not cheap you on the liquor. I recently moved into this area and constantly order delivery from them now. Many restaurants start to slack after a year but the quality of their food has not changed. So pleased with this place. read more

Met an old buddy for lunch today. Neither of us are from this area so I turned to the Yelp Community for advice. Once again the community was spot on. Place had ample parking out front. Great decor caught my eye as soon as we walked in. The service was excellent and very attentive. The lunch menu had a great selection of about 20 dishes. They all came with an appetizer. I chose the Lamb Rogan Josh. It was an excellent choice. The corn soup came first which was tasty but my preference would have had it with a little spice. The lamb came soon thereafter and was SUPERB! I tend to be a little picky I know but this dish was out of this world . The lamb was tender and the flavones were deep. Very enjoyable. I'm happy to say it was generally a positive experience. A Monday night was not very busy; it was nearly empty when arriving and there were only a few staff working. Few or not, they were still very polite and helpful. The down side is when there was a small rush of patrons waiting to be seated or back to back phone orders, it was difficult to wave someone down. Based on the other reviews, the garlic naan did prove to have a fresh taste and was a good choice for an appetizer. An order of four pieces of plenty for two people. As I was in the mood for noodles, I had the opportunity to try Singapore noodles with shrimp, pad thai with chicken, as well as Szechuan fried rice with chicken. Of the three, the Szechuan fried rice was certainly the best of them. The pad thai was a little different, the flavor more closely resembled sweet and sour sauce - a bit more tangy than what I would've preferred for a pad thai. Probably my least favorite of the three... The Singapore noodles was also a good choice especially if you like the dry curry flavor with a hint of heat. The portions are overall good for the price, at least for what I happened to order. I'm more than willing to return to try out other sections of the menu. Honestly, you'll likely spend a lot more time figuring out what to eat than actually eating. read more

Tried it and was not impressed with the food. After reading some of the reviews, I thought that I might be missing out on a gem, so I gave it a shot. Let's start with food: I ordered Chicken Vindaloo, Nanking Fried Rice and Naan. My friends ordered Chicken with Broccoli, Shrimp in Black Bean Sauce. For appetizers, we had 1 order of Vegetable Spring Rolls and 1 Crispy Chicken Honey. My Chicken Vindaloo was okay but not as favorable or spicy as I would have liked. I would gave this dish 3 and a 1/2 stars. The Fried Rice was a bit dry and nothing special at all. Pieces of meats (chicken) were small and not plentiful. The portion was fine. Overall this gets a rating of 2 stars. Now to my friends dishes which I thought were boring. The Chicken with Broccoli was tasteless and not enjoyed at all. This was given a rating of 2 stars. The Shrimp in Black Bean Sauce fared better but was not a knockout either so it was rated 3 stars. The appetizers were okay. The Spring Rolls were nice and crispy and not soggy, meaning they were cooked with enough time in oil--rated 3 stars a as the sauce could have a bit more kick. The Crispy Chicken in honey with dried Chillies disappointed. While you got the sweetness, the heat expected from the Chillies to give it that contrasting taste was lacking and ruined an otherwise good dish. I rate this 1 star which might be harsh but given the expectations, I think this is fair. I tried a Mangotini which was okay. I tasted the Gin but the drink itself was boring and could use a boost. I'll rate this 3 stars. The decor was fine but could be brighter. The place although small looked clean. The service was where this restaurant stood out and Rahul our server has got it right in how to treat customers. His efforts gets a 5 star rating for customer service. I really liked that they took the effort to provide warm plates and were attentive in changing plates during the various meals. Keeping the glasses of water filled though needs a tad more attention where customers don't have to signal for a refill but the lag time was not too bad. I'd like to give them another shot but I am in no rush to do so. Any place that advertises itself as a fusion of Chinese, Thai and Indian dishes had better be ready to deliver on all fronts. If they read this review, I'd like to make a suggestion. Do not compromise on spice or flavor to "Americanize" your food. read more

This is probably the best place to eat around my house. I've ordered here twice, both times delivery and I've always received my order on time and the food hot. I love this place, my favorite thing on the menu is the crispy lotus I would love to give this place a 5 star review, but the second time I ordered I was mistakenly given chicken dumplings instead of vegetable ones. I ordered on BeyondMenu, which told me the closing time was 11pm, which differered from Google, but I place my order right at 10 on the dot. I called and apologized once I checked the other time. The person I spoke to was super courteous and polite and assured me everything was okay. Me and my husband have been strict vegetarians/vegans for the past 7 years. But on Sunday night, we had meat for the first time in all those years. I double checked my order to make sure I didnt mistakenly order chicken, but i definitely ordered vegetable. I love this place, but the meat really made us sick. :( that's the only reason I can't give this place 5 stars. To any other vegetarians out there just double check everything that gets delivered to you! This place is tiny. Not that there's anything wrong with tiny... I came here on a Saturday night for dinner, and it was fairly busy considering it's size and we didn't have to wait to be seated. The waitress was friendly and attentive. We ordered coconut shrimp as an appetizer and my boyfriend loved it. I wasn't excited about it. I had pineapple fried rice and as much as I hate soy sauce, after I used it the meal tasted much better. Not sure if it was that good or if I was just hungry but I pretty much finished everything. The ambiance is perhaps the best part of this place. It has a warm feeling to it. The place plays instrumental version of 90s Bollywood music which makes the experience 100 folds better. I went on a Thursday night, so the place wasn't too packed. Seating was quick, and service was excellent. FOOD IS AVERAGE. It's a fusion between South Asian and Eastern Asian food. Not high on spice even though we specified that we want our food to be spicy. We tried Chicken Achar with Garlic naan and Chili Garlic noodles (vegetarian). Chicken achar was not the best, but the garlic naan were really good - fresh, soft, but still had the crisp that a naan should have. Noodles, once again were not spicy at all, had only a few pieces of broccoli and cabbage and no other vegetables. Also tried a virgin mint mojito, more sour and watery than sweet. The Mango lassi was also more tangy than sweet. Chocolate mousse cake was the best part of the meal. Our experience in particular was a tad uncomfortable only because the place was so hot. i was on the highway, i googled thai restaurant in the area, i found this spot, and i went. The interior is small but well decorated. It seemed quizzical that a restaurant would serve 3 types of ethnic foods and i found out why 2 days after. I had ordered 2 dishes which are pretty expensive for the area. The chicken curry tasted funny and i called to follow up to find out why it tasted funny. Apparently they DEEP FRY the chicken before they prepare the entire meal. Seriously, who does that at a Thai restaurant? Secondly it was not great because it was filled up with all chicken and probably 5% veggies. In times where we are all looking for healthier meals, it seems that this spot is trying to fool us and cut corners. I've been here twice. The first time I asked for my shrimp entree to NOT be spicy, and my friend asked for her entree to BE spicy. My food came back insanely spicy and hers was bland. So they obviously mixed up our requests. We mentioned it to the waiter, but nothing was done about it. I couldn't even eat it. I didn't feel like complaining further and that was that. The second time I came back one evening with my boyfriend. I ended up getting terribly sick right after I left the restaurant. We had the samosas and chicken zafrani. The samosas are the best I've ever had. Ever. The tamarind chutney is great. The chicken zafrani was perfect for the Indian food craving without too much spice. If you like chicken tikka masala, this dish goes right next to it. It had a nutty flavor, with cream and spices. Truly unique. I ordered the plain paratha. It was crispy, soft... perfect. The garlic naan was also a hit with my husband. The rice was perfectly cooked and fluffy. Their biryani is so flavorful and delicious, and they can make it as spicy as you'd like (I usually ask for them to make it as spicy as possible).
