Recently I got to a stage on the project car (aka Betty) that it was time to turn to brake drums and I could think of no place better, or more economical to tackle this task. The downside? You gotta already have access to the base; but hey, a lot of my fellow yelpers fit that requirement. Oh, and you better not be afraid to get dirty; this place is hands on; they'll help if you really need it, but you are the labor and talent working on your wheels. Tire mounting and balancing, brake drums and rotors and the like, the onsite tech will handle the machine work for you, but you gotta have those things off the vehicle yourself. A bay or two are set aside for oil changes and other quick work, stalls and lifts are available for the more time consuming work. They have a storage area, for a small fee, if you need more than one weekend to get the job done. You don't own more than basic hand tools you say? That's okay too, there are plenty of tools available for use. You just gotta follow the rules of the Tool Crib. Parts of Betty and I will be back soon!

The signs are still up and the phone message is as if it's still open, but no one answers. We don't join the military to get rich, but there have always been things like MWR Hobby Auto centers to help save our pitiful pennies. This has been one of the perks I have enjoyed the most in my career. So sad to see it die.

I dropped my car off and was given a rental. They took care of all the negotiations with the insurance company and kept me informed the whole way. They gave me a repair estimate of $17,335.18 on October 15, which seemed reasonable, and I assumed work was being done. For over two months, I waited with no updates. Suddenly, on December 5, they emailed demanding the loaner back immediately and threatened a police report for "failure to return a rental vehicle." I called their rep (Alfonso), who said he would extend the loaner--he never followed up. That evening, the loaner was remotely disabled (Valet Mode) while I was driving, stranding me overnight in 20°F snowy/rainy weather on a busy DC street. I had to pay for towing myself to avoid freezing. The next morning (December 6), they called police (Rockville and Prince George's County), claiming I failed to return the rental. They also told officers my Florida license was "fake" or fraudulent. Police cleared me immediately. I repeatedly explained my disabilities (immune-compromised, OCD, ADHD, anxiety) and asked for accommodations to get my medication and belongings from the loaner (less than ¼ mile away at a friend's house). They refused and left me stranded without transportation or meds ever since. Now they demand over $14,000 in storage/rental fees--almost as much as the repair estimate--yet no work was ever done on my car. I have video, emails, bills, and records. This was unsafe, unprofessional, and unacceptable. Avoid if you value safety and clear communication.

Really bad experience. I took my car to Dan for a few items (clean up some wiring in the engine…read morebay, get the AC working, fix a lighting issue) and he said he would be able to tackle those issues before I bought the car in. After the first few weeks, I realized my car was not a priority. I also realized he wasn't really invested in figuring out what wasn't working on the car. He would tell me what parts to order etc, and I ordered a part that he later told me wouldn't fit. So finally after 2 MONTHS I got fedup with this nonsense and I decided to go get my car. Then tells me this story that he was busy with other cars and he hasn't really focused on my car, but he can get it done if I give him another week. So I did... Only to go pick the car and it was half assed. We get into an argument about me "bitching" because I didn't like the condition in which I got my car back. First thing I noticed was how dirty my car was, didn't say anything about. Then I noticed that my steering wheel cover was hanging from the steering wheel, so I starting getting upset (internally). Then when we pop the hood, I notice fluid under the hood, I ask what is that... and he states oh "it's brake fluid" (He had to move my brake fluid reservoir for the wiring). My response in a agitated tone is "uhhh... why is there brake fluid all on the metal of my car, brake fluid is corrosive" he's responds "no it's not". So he proceeds to wash way the brake fluid now with bottled water. I notice inside my car is muddy and dirty and he only completed one task, which was clean up the wiring. So obviously I'm agitated that 1. you treated my E30 M3 like shit. 2 You took for ever to get one thing accomplished. 3. Your raising your voice at me because your pissed off that I'm "Bitching". Mind you when I get the car home, I notice that he also hit my front bumper hard enough to break the sidemaker light (my car is lowered). Dan should get out of the business of working on people's cars...

The lady i spoke to on the phone said they had 4. I went to the yard, i walked up and down the Dodge/Chrysler section and only seen 1 dodge magnum matching mines. So i walked to the entrance of the yard to ask the lady at the desk if she could tell me the exact location of the other 3 Dodge Magnums. She said she couldnt, that i had to look online myself. I said i did. But i couldnt find them. She called some other short blonde big lady to deal with me. That lady came from the front door with another customer. The lady behind the register told her my question and the big lady said: where is your phone? I said in my pocket. First off, that is not the way to talk to a customer like she knew me. Second, she dont know if people are up to date with mobile devices, she shouldnt assume. That is not the way to talk or treat any of your customers. I simply asked her for the location of the other 3 magnums and she kept saying i need to look on the website. I told her i did and that it dont match the yard. So we both got heated and she told me to leave. I drove 40mins to the yard because they told me they had 4 magnums, i paid my entrance for nothing. I got kicked out for asking a simple question: where are the other 3 magnums you told me you have?
