Terrible night staff. Constantly kicking your door open no knocking turning your lights on while you're dead asleep you get startled and they act upset when you're startled. Absolutely atrocious care. Will never be going back once I get out of here. The worst thing is they stand in your room and talk about their personal lives and laugh and get you completely woke up and then leave without even shutting the door. I have to undo my IV machine and walk over and shut it myself every single time. I can't understand how Naples, would have such a horrific hospital in their downtown area. I'm the caregiver of my relative on the 6th floor (Neurology). I asked the nurse assigned to change my relative she said she needed to finish her rounds first.. After waiting 40 minutes, I asked to speak the on call administrator because that level of neglect is unsafe. Amanda, the charge nurse, responded by saying "The on call administrator can't help you because she's dealing with actual emergencies." The attitudes of nurses here is very troubling. Doors slamming, things being dropped, having personal conversations at patient room doorways all hours of the day and night like it's a big party. Theres definitely a reason they have so many 1 star reviews, i highly recommend physicians regional. I went here feeling extremely sick they had one kid who had a broken arm, another girl who had a deep wound that needed stitches then theres me who just has flu/viral like symptoms. There was one doctor or PA taking care of all of us. They proscribed me a medication i told the nurse i have bad reactions to, she was like "uhhhh okay...well if you have a reaction just come back..." why would I pay another three grand in ER bills for somebody to tell me something I already told him the first time.... Then I asked her if he can prescribe me something that will help with yeast infections due to the antibiotics.... she says " well the doctor would have to go back and submit that into his computer" clearly they wanted me out of there my symptoms were small compared to what they had to deal with. so I called back two weeks later and asked if they could still give me the prescription that I asked for because i was afraid of getting a reaction to the medication. It took me a long time to get the anabiotic because the first time I went to go get it my pharmacy said they have no prescriptions under my name, I called the ER and asked them about it. They gave me a paper prescription!!! how do I have a paper prescription when she asked me what pharmacy I would like to pick up the medication at... I called back about a week later (today) I kindly explained everything, the nurse that I spoke to on the phone immediately met me with an attitude "well not two weeks later" ummmm i asked you guys when i was there!! My 72-year-old sister went to NCH downtown -Baker for chest pain. She wasn't sure where to go and went into the front doors of the hospital. Instead of getting her a wheelchair, and taking her to the emergency department, they instructed her to walk around OUTSIDE, half of the building, to check herself into the ER. This a woman with 4 stents in her heart already from previous cardiac events. The Patient advocates will not even return my phone calls. This is atrocious and Yelp is only the first stop! read more

My boyfriend took me to this hospital, worst experience ever. The men who helped me onto the wheelchair where so professional. But as soon as i entered the lady at the desk was so rude. Then they wouldn't let my boyfriend enter because he didn't have an id ( we are both underage) they didn't ask me for a id but asked him for one. When they let another underaged kid enter. So, I walked into the Naples Community Hospital Emergency Room on 7th St in downtown Naples, Fl with 214/95 blood pressure, vomiting and diarrhea. Due to the super sleuth competence of the ER team that night, within hours I was whisked off to emergency laparoscopic appendectomy surgery, just before my appendix was likely to burst. Less than 24 hours from admission, I walked out with a clean bill of health. In the hands of angels! Our many days of experience here were very positive The facility is beautifully cared for, very peaceful The welcome area lobby is small but enough. A gift shop, plenty of waiting areas, Coffee cafe with Starbucks, player piano, staff very friendly with volunteers to help escort you to your place The rooms, elevators, staff, nurses were all as you would expect They just upgraded their whole computer system and it is great but staff is still learning Love that each patient room had a computer screen by the door with information Inside the rooms everything was well planned and spacious Plenty of help and all the staff from the Tech, to Doctors and nurses were friendly When you are so vulnerable and in pain, it is good to know there is a place that would take care of you like NCH read more

Hello NCH, this is my 6 hospital stay in 5 months and I always forget to write a review. Savanna in observation is always excellent, and when I was moved I have had a very hard working nurse called Gian I'm in room 305 N she tries so hard and gets the job done. Josh the CT is also a very hard worker for sure. Everyone is always so nice to me when I'm here. Heading home tomorrow. The Oncology unit at NCH is the best unit! All the staff were great but I'd have to say hats off to nurse Dawn. She made me feel welcomed and supported throughout my entire stay. I was admitted to the ER via an ambulance for a possible heart issue, while I was on vacation in Naples. I was happy with my care in the ER although they seemed a little short-staffed. The second doctor who saw me in the ER was Dr Wilson, he was great and explained exactly what was going on with my heart monitor and was very thorough. I decided to get more testing done since they didn't find out what caused my heart issues so I was admitted to a room to get more testing done. The room was clean and comfortable. The nurse I had the most dealings with was Autumn, she was great! I was very impressed with the internist, Dr Smith, who was concerned about my past medical issues and took the time to discuss them with me. Overall, my experience at NCH was a 7. read more

I have lived here many years and, you know, the stories about NCH and the NORTH hospital as being really poor. Honestly, I did not really listen to all the residents that were very negative. These incidents occurred about a year and a half ago, and some things may have been improved since then. I certainly hope so. In great pain with a severely extended abdomen, I went to the emergency room by ambulance from my primary physician , who had diagnosed a bowel obstruction and presumably passed that diagnosis on to the emergency room. When I finally got an examining room, I waited for 2 1/2 hours to see a doctor. I was in great pain the whole time, and a very kind. Nurse said that there was nothing he could do about it until a doctor arrived.I finally received some pain medication and a CT scan, after which I was admitted to the OR within 15 minutes with a twisted cecum that could have killed me while I waited. I hope other patients haven't died while waiting for emergency care. The nurses during my subsequent hospital stay were wonderful, but when I was finally allowed to eat after three days, the food was inedible. As a veteran of orthopedic operations all over the country, I believe it was the worst hospital food I have ever eaten. I had two subsequent stays related to my intestinal problem. Many of the nurses in my second day were unintelligible; those during my third day or as great as, or even better than, those in first stay.,The food remained awful. I know the hospital is short staff. Which explained why it would take 15 minutes to have my call Bell answered, but it was still frustrating. Five stars for most of the nurses and for two of my three hospital rooms. One to two stars for everything else. read more

By far the most deceptive hospital ever. The hospital is filthy and dark. I sat in the waiting room for 5 hours only to be seen by a nurse practitioner. My copay was $900 for a $5300 15 minute visit then I was charged another to be seen by a nurse practitioner $1300 with another $300 copay. Just curious why you would go to the ER if you aren't going to be seen by a doctor . My burns were wrapped and I was sent on my way. My wife has given birth to three children at NCH. While the medical staff have been great, it is obvious that some sadistic pencil pusher takes great pleasure in causing as much discomfort as there possible can be created. Our last visit generated a bill submitted to insurance for over $53,000.00. By the third day, I went and bought myself an air mattress to sleep on. It is literally robbery the way this place takes money and gives none of it back to the patients in THE COMMUNITY. We are currently here for the third time in four weeks. I'm sitting in a room in which there is no working remote for the TV, one surplus office chair (or as I call "The Spanish Inquisition!) to sit in, and a "bed" for my wife. Additionally, every time we come we have to wait at the birthing center for hours. Why? Because these geniuses won't expand the birthing center. Naples is a "sleepy little beach town" after all. It's for snowbirds. Shoot, with the amount of money this place has taken from me in the last ten years, they should add on to the birthing center and dedicate it to me and my continued fertility. I went in to NCH Hospital for alcohol abuse, as the VA has no such local place to handle detoxification. I arrived to the emergency room, and my vitals were taken. This was at noon- I was told about every hour that I'd be relocated very soon the the NCH detox facility- probably a 15-minue or so drive away. We left around 9pm (never before had I anything to eat as I was dropped in a hot lonely room left to amuse myself by staring at the ceiling and eavesdropping on good-time Charlies hukking it up at the far end of the hall. Post-ambulance I was plopped into my new cell, where the main rule is that you are forbidden to leave your bed. Understaffed as they seem to be, when they wake you every 2 hours to ask the same shaming questionnaire they always found something to berate you- like when I dropped my pillows to the floor because I was scorching under the sun. "It's dirty!" and when I went to correct her complaint- "That's a NURSE's job!, you're not allowed to leave bed. These beds keep constant monitoring of your heart rate and react blaringly if the cords, which all connect to a steel brick you must keep in the front pocket of backless bathrobe. Going to the loo (can't reach it OR the soap dispenser,or even begging for water means waiting 60 minutes. To be fair, by the end of my hazing my addiction and its systems had cleared, probably because I was terrified a the thought I would ever have to return. I was told my Potassium was low but could go once I'd taken them. The doctor returned to her office and guffawed over the phone for a good 2 hours before one of the few kind nurses there caught her. She said she dosen't think so & that I should probably remain AT LEAST another couple days. I shook in fury, which she jumped on as me refusing medical expertise, and I was made to sign a waiver that said just that. This is my first time in the actual NCH hospital. It's not a really good experience . Given that the facility is totally full I'll cut them a break. Sort of. The big problem is that the hospital is really seriously understaffed. There are some really great people here but the facility doesn't allow them the excel. That's a shame. Every contact that I have with people in NCH is wonderful. NCH is simply asking their staff to do too much. For instance each RN on the floor has 5 patients. Went in because my son was throwing up blood clots. We went and checked in. 45 minutes liters got seen by nurse to take vitals. After waiting An hour, asked will he be seeing a Doctor soon. The response took me back after a nurse said, Well as you know, it is NewYears Eve and there are doctors in call but it will be after New Year celebrations before you will be seen . Went to Urgent Care for follow up of Bronchitis week later with symptoms not getting better. Blood Pressure was 180/116, O2 91%, Pulse 112. Was sent to ER by Physician with Hypoxemia, Tachycardia, Hypertension and Acute Bronchitis. On arrival had blood work, CXR and CT Scan. Labs were normal. Put in ER Room and nothing done for at least 4 hours. No oxygen for my low O2, which was running between 89/91%. Nothing done for BP that was running around 185/160, with some shortness of breath and dizziness. Physician very uncommunicative and wanted to send me home. After I told him I was not comfortable with going home he admitted me. I asked for oxygen and numbers improved slightly. Was told that I was anxious as cause of vitals. Physician on floor at discharge told me that High Blood Pressure can't be measured because everyone is different and does not exist unless you have a headache and blurred vision. And that both my husband and I were anxious because we were drinking coffee, it was in the morning. And anxiety was causing my problem. He also said that my cough was due to my lungs healing and that they are much like a sore healing. It will itch and the lungs healing produce a tickle in your throat and you cough to scratch the itch. He then ordered a walk test and told me my numbers would get way better if I was up and walking. I failed the test and the Physical Therapist was worried and couldn't get me to bed fast enough. I went home on oxygen. I feel that the doctors were very condescending and not interested in finding the cause of my symptoms. Just ruled out the catastrophic, not interested in finding root cause. read more

My father was recently a patient in the emergency room and then admitted. He is 99 years old. He was there for a virus and congestive heart failure. My mother is 87. They spent 19 hours in the emergency room itself. They were short staffed and very unorganized. I have no complaints regarding his care, once he received it. But the waiting without answers, interaction or the appropriate administering of tests was interminable. At no point were they offered food or water without our prompting. And when food did arrive it was inedible. The medical profession stresses hydrate, drink water etc. it was pulling teeth to get him a cup of water and although my mother was not the patient, she is also elderly and needed water also. The highlight of this excruciating day was when of the clerks? Came barging into the room, waking both my parents, grabbed the sami wipe container off the wall, it proved to be empty so he checked it wit force onto the empty trash can and stormed back out. Scared the heck out of everyone. He returned a few minutes later to replace the wipes which he slammed into the holder. Not s sorry to disturb you, excuse me nothing. Most unprofessional thing ever. The care dad did receive was great, once he got it. They were very pleased with Dr Luna and the nurses on the 5th floor. But the emergency room was a very bad experience! read more

Had to visit here yesterday because my older brother had a heart attack. He's doing fine now thanks to the staff. I was at work initially, but apparently when the ambulance brought him, they took him right to surgery. Surgeon was already prepped and ready. Staff was great helping me find my mom and the family which is good as this place is a maze. If you ask for directions it's something along the lines of, "Down this hall. Take a left. Take a right. Follow that hallway, elevators on your right. Go to the 3rd floor. Left. Left again. Second right. Through those doors. First right. Can't miss it." Kind gentleman helped me through. I am extremely irritated that this hospital would not give me one call since my 76yr old mother has been in their care. THEY PERFORMED SURGERY WITHOUT TELLING ME!!!!! I used to have a soft spot for this hospital since I was born there 52 years ago.They kept saying they would have someone call me and no one would, including doctors and nurses. With this Covid 19 you of course are not allowed to visit them in the hospital so you would expect them to call you. You see on the news all of these hospital workers up north that go out of their way to make sure the families know everything, they stand at windows and wave at families that are standing outside, yet I can't get one call in 3 days. On April 22, 2022 I was concerned that I might have suffered a stroke or a heart attack, and my wife drove me to the Emergency Room of the North campus of Naples Community Hospital (NCH) at 1:00 PM. Here's a list of things that went wrong. 1) The receptionist in the Emergency Department (ED) told me to sit in the waiting room after I told her that I might be having a heart attack. 2) They put in an IV line, but needed 3 stabs to hit my very prominent vein. 3) The CT scan and the MRIs were negative, but it took nearly 2.5 hours to get an aspirin. They were unable to do the Echo Cardiogram (EC) that same day. 4) I was admitted for observation and was awakened twice during the night by loud talking and laughter from the nurse's station across the hall. 5) The next morning, the nurse was told that my EC would be after lunch. Not having heard anything by 2:15 PM, I walked down to the EC area. They took me in after just 5 minutes. 6) The EC took about 55 minutes. That was twice as long as a prior EC took at Rush in Chicago. 7) The EC results were never posted to my patient portal. It took at least 6 phone calls over 3 weeks to finally get to talk someone in the records department. They couldn't simply post EC results the way it should have been done automatically -- a written request was needed. 8) On 6/1 I finally got a text with information on how to access my "e-record." Needless to say, the instructions didn't work. When an organization is dysfunctional, nothing works well. It is apparent that NCH needs more active competent management. I will NEVER GO BACK TO NCH AGAIN. I recommend that everyone should avoid NCH. read more

My husband and I got rear ended today pretty hard. My husband said he was fine with just neck and head pain so he refused an ambulance. 3 hours later clear fluid is running out of his nose and complaining of blurry vision nausea dizziness and extreme neck and head pain. So we immediately go to the closest hospital. This one. Well it took over an 1:10 hrs to see the triage nurse (charge nurse). She tells him they'll do an X-ray? Huh wha X-RAY for head trauma? Then she puts him back out in the waiting room. Did she triage him as a level 4/5? For head trauma with neurological symptoms. Then another hour passes and finally he get a CT scan. Now we're two hours after CT and 4 hrs total and no updates. No doctor came to see him, no nurse came to reevaluate. Nothing just sitting here. You would think for such a posh neighborhood and rich city they would have a better service. Another couple was complaining that they were waiting for 9hrs and no one came co see them since. People could be dying and they wouldn't know. So sad. It's not the drs or nurses. It's the administration and their greed. They don't care about their staff or their patients. read more

So once we were transferred to the main hospital from the ER it completely went to a s@#$show. If you have the ability please avoid this hospital or this company. Multiple request to contact our main doctor and keep them informed never occurred. All I heard was oh they are busy, we don't have the time we will get to it. WOW it seems they are good at deflecting and excuses but not actually doing their job. I assumed being a nurse and or Dr means being educated enough to know how to read a damn chart. The main hospital should get shutdown they get -1000000 's Ill give the ER a 3 The staff seems to want to insist on policy and procedures. Conveniently they only start doing this when it suits them and never following their own rules until they get upset by family members and patients who seem to be on top of the situation. The biggest issue had to do with our family member having their prescriptions on hand they take daily. We were allowed to have them and take them accordingly in the ER. But in the main hospital all of the sudden you either only take theirs from the pharmacy ( $$$$$) or ( after a long drown out explanation from the director) they need to have their pharmacy validate the medication then it gets locked up for the staff to only distribute. I get and understand this but not one single staff member explained this calmly or correctly enough to where we had the option to follow it. It was only when this director ( Dr.* Rebeca McNamara [*Dr in DNP not MD] specializing in anti bullying [ya she sures knows how to bully patients and family])came in all threating and huffy did we finally get to the explanation and procedure for using the personal medication. Also the prescribing Dr. needs to authorize the distribution. This is where we get back to THE STAFF NEVER called the Dr. we asked them to. When we were transferred I was taking a break and my wife was there. When I got back the course of action was not being followed and it seems that the staff was not even taking the time to read the charts from the ER. The staff acted like the ER stay did not even occur and was only following their own ideas. Several things were in the chart clearly and I had to stand over their shoulder and point it out. They lack patient skills to properly explain their own policies that can benefit both patient and staff. When the staff wants to follow a policy or procedure instead of explaining it properly they bring in senior staff like a hammer ( Dr.* Rebeca McNamara [*Dr in DNP not MD] . Then the senior staff gets all huffy and refuses to listen to the complaints and failures of their own staff for either not explaining things properly or not even following the first steps of transferring into the main hospital. The director ( Dr.* Rebeca McNamara [*Dr in DNP not MD] also instant made sure we knew we were interfering with her night because she needed to stop in. From my understanding from the rant of the director what I could decipher. The patient and family should get a brief and a folder (referred to by her as "the green folder") when they arrive in the hospital that helps explains hospital policies and procedures including visiting hours. This director ( Dr.* Rebeca McNamara [*Dr in DNP not MD] kept referring to the folder. We never got any of this. Then this director ( Dr.* Rebeca McNamara [*Dr in DNP not MD] goes and finds one of these policy folders late in the evening 9:45 PM and slaps it down on the table. WTF is this professional ??. Went to Naples Com Hospital last December 2019-the nursing stall were fine-took 4hours to get a room-then at 2:00 am they put a women in the room who had pneumonia and they were very loud and woke me up scaring me by my hearing them talking about her pneumonia-was a terrible feeling-told the nurse I wanted to leave the next day and a Dr Gonzelez came in and said I needed to stay because he was having a speech therapy person come in since I had a TIA(lite stroke) but I had no problem with my speech-I did not get breakfast or my medication I guess by Dr Gonzelez as a punishment-when I got the papers when I left he said I smoked which I don't and said I refused my heart medication which of course I didn't.Be prepared to get every possible test and pushing therapy no matter what.Very bad Doctor-not a good hospital! read more

Mostly a wonderful experience given the circumstances. My only negative was one of the volunteers..and I know she is a volunteer...but after waiting for 3 hours for moms surgery the nurse said I should go to lunch..fine...when I returned to the very same waiting room (and wearing my visitors name tag) I was immediately told have a seat...AND I WAS NOT TO LEAVE THE ROOM WITHOUT TELLING HER. This hospital has serious problems. Nursing staff does not communicate with shift changes. My mother is deaf and blind and they had to ask me everyday of she could see. Because she could not see, she didn't know what was on the menu so the hostess said if she doesn't answer the phone, she gets rice, toast ave a banana. Hostess said of a family member is not there to help the hospital will not accommodate. This is illegal and violates the ADA. The hospital itself is filthy. Garbage not emptied for three days. The cafeteria boasts BLUE ZONE approved food that they fry in butter and serve with buttered roll. NOT Blue Zone guidelines. This hospital needs a complete overhaul before they are sued. read more
