Once I was in the room getting help, everything was going fine. After the first treatment was done, our nurse had not checked up on me for more than an hour and a half. I had to get help from other nurses so I could use the restroom. Without knowing, it was time for the next treatment. The nurse did a better job in being quicker. When we were wrapping up, the nurse yanked the needle out of my arm resulting in pain and a bloody job. My mom had to finish doing the nurses job by removing the Sphygmomanometer on my left arm and the pulse oximeter on my right hand finger. Although I am currently feeling better, my arm still hurts and I wish my mother and I were informed of what would be going on and why we had to wait so long.

Predatory pricing on minor medical issues. Their billing model is exploitative. DO NOT GO HERE!

We went to the ER at Physicians Regional Hospital where I was taken care of by some of the nicest Medical Professionals I have ever met.

The wait was roughly 7 minutes. They did the preliminary work up, & the first nurse he had was great. Got him situated and comfortable-then came a male nurse who I best can describe as snarky. Not happy, dismissive, and inattentive. It was probably an hour before they wheeled in a monitor with a neurologist on the screen-no doctors yet. We were in ER from 11:30 am until 5:45pm before being taken upstairs. In that time male nurse came in only about 4times 2x because I went to the desk asking for him. 1neuro on the screen and 1doctor for 5minutes. I give them a C- No pillow, no blanket, no water, & it's freezing in there. We were told they were waiting on transfer, & it'd be 10 minutes...that became 45 minutes later. On the up note-he was placed on the 6th floor, & that nursing staff is the best in town. Always accessible, I felt they could have checked in more regularly without having to be summoned by the bell, but I give that floor an A. Kind, knowledgeable, skilled, & clean. He was able to sleep well at this hospital which was totally different from when he had surgery downtown. NCH Downtown gets a D- for care, cleanliness, comfort, & nursing, 3rd floor was a nightmare, filthy, call button not answered for 45 minutes or more. Transfer gurney was filthy, room bed had broken wheels with pieces left scattered throughout the room. Loud nurses in the hall, no prior check for disability which put him in a room with everything on the left when he can't move his left. NCH North is where to go!

But, can a hospital legitimately ever be short-staffed? I had an accident and EMS brought me here (if you have a choice, choose another hospital). ER doctor P seemed overworked and not very concerned about me. They did CT scans and discovered a broken hip. I was kept in the ER from 2 pm until 1230 am when "a room became available." When I got to my room on the 4th floor, I asked the nurse, "how did a room become available at 1230 am, someone just died?" She said that my room was available when she started her shift, 7 pm, but the admitting doctor S was "too busy to do the paperwork to admit me." I was told that I would have hip surgery the next day (Sunday, 12/28/25) after 3 pm. Thus, I was surprised and annoyed that from 130 am until 5 am I was disturbed 4 times by Dr. S, tech for bloodwork, tech for xrays, nurses. I said to one of the techs, "Why do this in the middle of the night? Why not tomorrow morning?" She said Dr. S had ordered it. Next day 12/28 was just lying in bed with IV waiting for surgery. After 4pm I was taken to pre-op. Surgeon, a different Dr. S, explained procedure and so did anesthesiologist. Surgery was around 6 pm and after recovery I got back to my room around 730pm. Nurse would only give me some lousy crackers fearing I might vomit. Didn't get any real food until next morning. Monday 12/29 hospital staff seemed a slight bit better. Hospitalist Dr. R stopped by and she explained things. Even P.T. came to get me up (very painful) and she discussed my situation. Marketing people from Encompass Rehab came to see me and I told them - good, take me! I finally escaped NCH North around 330pm on 12/30 by ambulance transport to Encompass Rehab. Bottom line: if you have a choice, choose another hospital! Your life may depend on it!

I was suspicious from the start and did not have a good feeling about the whole set up and told him to get an outside 2nd and 3rd opinion from reputable cardiovascular institutions such as Mayo and Cleveland. Husband had a great feeling and went in believed the doctors/salesmen, I won't name names, said that he would only require a laparoscopic procedure to fix his mitral valve prolapse. I said no, don't do it. Once they get you on the operating table they will open you up and cut through your sternum. He believed the doctor who told him that more than likely it would be laparoscopy. Sure enough, after 4 hours waiting during surgery, I called to find out what was happening. They said they had to open him up. I felt sick. I knew this was going to happen. The doctor also said that he would be healed in 6 -12 weeks. No, not true. He still has zero energy and his heart rate is 100bpm and bp is 110/40. Prior to surgery his heart rate was 70 bpm and 130/80. His heart was stronger before surgery. I think they messed up big time, but our insurance paid. Husband is slowly convalescing like a 90 year old, can't have sex, can't work, can't play golf, can't go anywhere. I am happy he is alive, but they almost killed him. It's like this operation aged him by 2 decades. He is upset with Physicians Regional and does not trust him. The doctors who made themselves readily available to him before the surgery now he can't get an appointment All his follow up appointments are with nurses and he is upset that he can't get in to see his cardiologist. I told him it's because they are too busy doing surgery, making money for the hospital, even though they sure were nice and accommodating to him prior to surgery. I don't think this facility is very advanced compared to some of the top heart hospitals in the nation. We can easily afford to go to the best place on earth and he regrets trusting them. We would never go back to this place. All the reviews about lack of communication we experienced too. The building itself is extremely well maintained and beautiful, but the communication and organizational protocol is not good. There were some wonderful ICU nurses, but the overall organization of the facility I do not trust.

The two orgs connect by a hallway so you can walk indoor back and forth. Parking is an ease. Sadly but vitally there is now great security. You must show ID as well as them taking a pic of you before entering. The Childrens hospital is new and as awesome as the lobby of Healthpark. It looks like a mall here, clear elevators, stores and coffee shops ease the negative thoughts of having to be here when you rather not. The children's hospital is bright, happy, and they just got a brand new electronic piano in the lobby. (I got to break it in! ). Open and clean, this place still smells new. There's a gift shop, lots of different seatings for waiting. There's a wall size screen for movies, Tv, Whatever. I regret no pics of it but my mind was occupied by business. Will def take one next time. Every single staff member that I passed during the hours I spent there were friendly, smiled and helpful. Btw they do employ a music therapist, Love it. (My first career) We are so blessed to have this caring institution here.
