This restaurant Nara Sushi was excellent the fish was fresh and absolutely delicious. The service was great amazing server. I had a major sneezing attack from my bad spring allergies. The server was so accommodating handed me napkins and some wipes to decongest love this place.

A takeout classic! You can't beat the 3 roll special. Never disappoints! Some of my go-tos are salmon avocado, spicy tuna, and shrimp tempura

First time I've eaten in the restaurant after ordering delivery for years. Larger portions than delivery and we found out we could customize the chirashi, which is cool. Lovely miso. Staff were fab!

Decided to give this sushi place a try because it was close and ordered a boston roll and spicy tuna roll. The boston roll might as well be renamed to cucumber and lettuce roll I had to double check my receipt to confirm my eyes . It was 5 thinly sliced rolls filled to the brim with cucumber strips and lettuce. There was only 3/5 pieces that had a tiny piece of shrimp in it. It was also poorly cut and rolled, almost half of it broke because of how thin they were.

The service was good. The rolls are amazing! Great portions for the price. Super fresh and felt cozy. Here visiting from out of town, but would come here all of the time if I was local!

The vibes here are really great - there's a lot of cool art and posters hanging from the walls. It's a bit expensive compared to some other sushi places I've eaten at, and the food is fine.

Solid spot for sushi rolls! We got 2 orders of the Any 3 Rolls and got to try the Spicy Salmon, Spicy Tuna, Yellowtail, Spicy Yellowtail, Salmon Avocado, and Eel Cucumber. Our favorites were the Yellowtail and Salmon Avocado. Very fresh fish and fast service! The only reason why I knocked off a star was I felt they could've done without the mixed in tempura crunch flakes in the Spicy rolls. But besides that, really good and I'd come back and try more (esp the specialty rolls!!)

Good spot for lunch. Food came out quick. Check was quick too. Will come back. Wish they did both soup and salad instead of either/or

I ordered takeout from Nara Sushi tonight for dinner and it was absolutely delicious! Definitely some of the best takeout sushi I've had in the city! The miso soup was great, and the three roll combo was so filling and great bang for your buck! I got a spicy tuna roll, a spicy crab roll, and a yellowtail jalapeño roll which were all so fresh! I love how little rice there was! I also got a seaweed salad but couldn't finish it as I was so full. This might be my new go-to for takeout sushi!

Not bad at all, but this is very much a hole-in-the-wall neighborhood sushi spot that features a ton of signature rolls. Nothing fancy but I liked I could just walk in wearing leggings and basically a sweater that resembled a hotel robe. I went with the eel avocado roll and the Osaka roll with jalapeño, tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. The latter was a challenge in terms of eating it gracefully - do I unhinge my jaw and stuff the whole thing into my gob in one bite, or do I bite it in half and risk spilling everything? This may be classic overthinking. Anyway, everything tasted fresh and delicious, though a bit heavy-handed on the sauce. Service was friendly and came by often to check how we were doing/refill waters. I usually steer clear of raw fish on work trips but I'm happy to report that Nara didn't do me dirty the next day.

    Bad sushi

Just picked up my order. I ordered a tuna roll where Clearly it does not look fresh - I called the restaurant to where I was placed on hold 2x to hold while they were taking other orders & was not given the time of day, & was told it's fresh and it's ok. I was not given any options to pick up a new roll or refund for the one roll or even a single apology. I will no longer ever order from Nara after the horrible customer service and lack of respect for a customer. Would definitely not recommend this place & say to check out other sushi restaurants in the neighborhood.

Quality fish. My favorite sushi spot in the area.. also just one of my favorite places to eat in this area period. Their non sushi choices are also tasty . Good lunch specials. I have also ordered the sushi for 2 and it was soooooo filling but worth! $68 I think? I also always take note of the taste of sushi restaurants miso soup and salad - I like theirs. The ambiance is so cute. The walls are decorated with many illustrations reminiscent of my childhood, like the characters from the Studio Ghilbi. They are always busy when I come but I have always has prompt service dining here. I haven't had to wait for a seat when I've gone with my partner. I recommend coming with no more than 4 people, it's a small seating area. Remember to use your check in reward - free edamame!

(Overall: 93% | A) - I ordered the Sashimi Deluxe at Nara and was quite impressed by the quality of fish. At $27, the price was very good for fresh, high quality fish with the akami and hamachi being extra delicious highlights. The space itself was a bit tight, but the service was reasonable -- pretty great overall! IG: @amei.eats

Went tonight and the sushi was legitimately fresh, like actually fresh, not Midtown-lunch-counter fresh. Yellowtail carpaccio and the salmon tataki were the standouts, clean fish, no fridge taste. This is izakaya food though, so order like it: geso kara, aged tofu, gyoza, repeat. Frozen beer comes with that slushie foam cap they do in Tokyo and it keeps the pint cold to the last sip, which matters when the room is this warm and packed. Service is fast and a little chaotic. Prices are fair for the neighborhood, borderline cheap at lunch. Not a temple of sushi, but for a rowdy basement near Herald Square? Way better than it needs to be. Full by 6pm sharp. This place completely breaks the mold! The chefs here put genuine thought, balance, and incredible freshness into every single dish. The space is small and cozy--perfect for groups of 2 to 4--and our server, Alisa, was attentive, friendly, and never pushy. Here is a breakdown of what we ordered: Sake Flight & Sakura Mori: Smooth, light, and the perfect start to the evening. Ankimo (Monkfish Liver): Super innovative and a total standout compared to other spots. Paired brilliantly with the ponzu-wasabi-soy combination. Uni: Exceptionally fresh with that natural, clean sweetness you always hope for. Toro Tataki: Pure summer vibes! Beautifully fresh sashimi topped with the perfect crispiness. Scallop Roll: Fresh with a great bounce to the texture. Karaage: Fried to perfection--super crispy on the outside, incredibly juicy on the inside, and paired with a delicious house-made mustard dipping sauce. Age Tofu: Super soft texture with a wonderfully balanced flavor profile. Takoyaki: Generously packed with octopus. The sauce was a bit heavy-handed, but if you love takoyaki sauce like I do, it hits the spot! Pork Katsu Curry: Crispy, perfectly fried pork chop balanced out seamlessly by the rice and rich curry sauce. Kurobuta Sausage: More of a casual bar-style bite that felt a little out of place next to the other refined dishes, but saved by that great house mustard. Black Sesame Ice-Cream & Fried Sweet Potato Dessert: We usually skip dessert when we order this much food, but this combination was an incredible, must-order finish to the night! You can tell the kitchen takes immense pride in their craft. I can't wait to come back!

This restaurant offers a variety of Japanese katsu including pork loin, pork tenderloin, curries, seafood, and donburis as well as many appetizers, drinks, and desserts. We tried the miso pork loin and the half pork/half chicken curry katsu. Both were delicious, and very enjoyable. The katsu is very crispy and well made; the meat inside is very moist. For every entree, you have the option of choosing set A (miso soup with pork and vegetable, potato salad, shredded cabbage) or set B (miso soup and shredded cabbage). There was nothing special about the vegetable and pork soup and potato salad so I would recommend set B. At every table, there are a variety of condiments - salad dressing for the cabbage, spice powder, tonkatsu sauce, and soy sauce. I would definitely come back here if I am craving katsu. Service: Service was phenomenal. The restaurant was packed and very busy, but our server was still very attentive and always available if we needed something. Very friendly! Ambiance: The restaurant is not big but can accommodate both large and small groups. Space is a bit tight, but the seating is still comfortable. They have counter seating as well as tables in the back. During peak dinner time, there was a little bit of a wait and a line near the door; the place is very popular. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are craving tonkatsu!
