Got it delivered the sandwiches were really good very fresh really like the steak grinder

Don't bother, directions were not followed at all. I ordered an Italian with dressing, salt and pepper, EXTRA pickles, olives, and mushrooms. Sandwich came dry to the bone. No dressing on it at all. Not only did I not get extra pickles, I got NO pickles. They literally gave me three olives (see photos). Sandwich and bread were so dry I reported to doordash, got my refund and threw it in the trash. The directions print out on the receipt when they get the order which means whoever was making it deliberately didn't follow directions. Too many other good options in the area to waste your time here. Really disappointing.

DAMN this was a good grinder. I ordered delivery off grubhub. I got an Italian grinder, stuffed clams, and a slice of carrot cake. The key takeaway is that this place does one thing and does it well: the grinder was fantastic. The stuffed clams and carrot cake were fine bordering on bad, but I suppose that's not why I ordered from here. Sandwich was top 5 I've ever had. Great ratio of meat to cheese to veggies, bread was the perfect level of soft while still holding up. Sandwich was incredibly filling for being only $14 (and that may have been a marked up price for grubhub, I'm not sure). Delivery was packaged well and close to on time (a little delayed but I'm used to it in this area). I loved their chopped veggie mix and it was flavorful without overwhelming the taste of the sandwich. Would absolutely order again. Definitely want to try some of their hot sandwiches as well.

Nardelli's gets super high marks for menu variety and so many options. The showcase displays all of their sandwich fixings and really made it tough to make up my feeble mind. I ended up going for a Whole Barbecue Rib Grinder ($10.59) that yielded 2 pretty big portions. It was very similar to a McRib (yes, I've had that so don't judge me) on a soft Italian grinder roll served with Lettuce, Tomato, Classic Mix (Diced Veggies), Provolone Cheese, Olives & Hot Sauce. I skipped the included mayo because the Barbecue Hot Sauce and all of those diced veggies made this one impossibly sloppy sandwich to eat. Of course it was delicious! Nardelli's Covid protocol was a little confusing. There were just 2 counter spots open at a time for ordering, but they kept calling "next" before one of the two customers walked toward the register. We held back on approaching the counter because if we had moved forward there would have been no way to observe social distancing. There was also confusion at the cash register. Completed sandwiches were stacked on a table so the poor cashier had to clairvoyantly match the sandwiches with the customers and that was awkward and time consuming. As a result, customer stacked up waiting to pay, and no one was 6 feet apart. The store's interior is small, and they really have to do a better job thinking up a way to move customers through the process faster and safer.

I was tempted to write a bad review just so this restaurant doesn't become too crowded, but this restaurant deserves all the praise. The interior was small and a little loud, but they're moving a few doors down soon to a bigger restaurant which am I very excited to see! Even though it was almost completely full, they made accommodations to get us a seat as walk-ins. Our waitress was fantastic and attentive despite serving the entire dining room. She made some excellent recommendations of dishes to try and was very enthusiastic. For food, we tried the chefs bread which came with delish dips (my favorite being the delicious yogurt and eggplant). They even had gluten free bread that was fresh baked. It is without a doubt the best gluten free bread I've had at a restaurant. We also tried the salmon tagliatelle which was creamy, fresh, and delicious and the short rib gnocchi which was homey and comforting. Only complaint, maybe a little too much parsley. Even though we were stuffed, we had to try dessert since everything else was so fantastic. We tried the iced pistachio crème brûlée and the Caramel cheesecake. The cheesecake wasn't your traditional New York slice you'd expect, but it was light and doused in delicious caramel. The iced pistachio crème brûlée was out of this world, I didn't think I'd finish it but ended up basically licking the plate. Everything was amazing. I love how small and cozy this place is--it has the warm, authentic feeling of enjoying a homemade meal. Everything tasted delicious, but the bread was definitely my favorite. It was perfectly crispy, and I loved the toasted sesame seeds on top. The prices are very reasonable, and another big plus is that it's not right in the center of West Hartford, so parking is much easier. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for authentic, delicious food in a cozy atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back!

Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5…read moreAmbiance: 3.5/5 Value ($65 Easter brunch): 2.8/5 An altogether mediocre/disappointing experience at Butchers & Bakers for Easter brunch 2026. I came with my elderly parents who are of limited mobility and we were disappointed to find that patrons must descend a short flight of stairs to get to the restaurant level from street level. The host was not that friendly - after I gave him my reservation information, he showed us to our table, but did not inform us / reassure us that there would be a server coming shortly to take our drink order. We were sitting there confused for a few minutes when we didn't see any wait staff coming around to any of the tables. Finally I flagged down someone who said yes, someone would be coming by. Our server was nice. I asked her if my Dad could order a la carte off the menu because he didn't feel like getting the buffet. She said no, today was all buffet-only, sorry. That's fine, I said. But then when I walked a lap to see what was on offer, I was surprised that many items were almost finished or completely out. This includes the shrimp on ice. There were only a handful left. This was at 3:55pm. The buffet's last seating was at 5:15pm for a two hour period, so they should have refilled the shrimp but did not. The carving station was weak too. The "prime rib" was not juicy and they only offer a few small slices of steak at a time. The Easter ham was not at the carving station. The scrambled eggs were rubbery, while the eggs Benedict and salmon were also overcooked. Pasta and meatballs were watery. The desserts were not good; only a few danishes and cookies and only one cake. For $65, this was not the experience we expected. We suspected it wouldn't be as good as Avon Old Farms Hotel's Easter buffet at Seasons restaurant (which we went to a few years back), but we hoped it'd be better than what we got. We asked for a split bill, but when she brought over the copies to sign, the itemized receipt was missing. I typically like to see the itemized receipt in order to double-check the items/pricing. In the end, Butchers and Bakers seems more like a place to drink (many good beers on offer and the cocktail menu looked okay) than to eat. Not sure how much longer they'll be around if things don't improve. Which is sad because it's a decent-sized space.

This place was well reviewed, so we decided to make this the spot this time around. Ordering was done up front, but there were tables to sit at. Missus ordered while I took photos, and the food came out relatively quickly. Took pics and dug in. Sweet potato fries were the highlight. Hand cut, fried and seasoned. With ranch, they were really good. The burger and hot god were good in terms of quality and quantity. The condiments were a little overpowering though, ended up taking over a lot of the dish and really muddled the meat. The meat itself was lightly seasoned, relying on the condiments to bring the flavor. Not bad, but all elements should bring their own identity and add to a meal. The burger felt absent, and although flavorful was lacking that extra bit of salt or fat to make it truly shine. It's not bad at all, just lacking. Everything else was good, the price easily reasonable for the quality. It was just missing those finishing touches to be truly great
