This is a follow up to my last visit! This time my server was Stephen, he was an example of what all servers should be. He was very courteous, prompt and checked on us half a dozen times. The pastrami is phenomenal, what a significant improvement. The double baked rye bread was nice and soft with a crunchy crust. They are up there with the greats: Langers and Brents. A Beverly Hills institution. I'm glad to see that they aren't closed post-covid so one could still enjoy some tasty pastrami. You can order ahead online or via phone. You can specify a pick up time online, but if you try to specify a time over the phone, it doesn't work. Our sandwiches seemed to have been sitting for a while, but the pastrami was still delicious (albeit the bread was a tad soggy). Credit cards are accepted. Street parking. The New Yorker with the coleslaw and Russian dressing is my go-to. The thick cut pastrami is so deliciously fatty and the creaminess of the dressing complements it well. If you like mustard, it adds some needed acidity as you progress into the sandwich. You get an option of a side, and I typically go for the macaroni salad. On my most recent pick up, the sides were missing but at least the pickles were there. You can pick the type of bread, but the standard is double baked rye. You'll probably enter a food coma if you eat both sandwiches, but it's well worth it. read more

Overall, solid sandwich but it a bit pricey for the amount of meat you get. Not as piled up as you would expect from a Langers or Canters. All relative given that it's located in Beverly Hills. Confession: By accident, I ate another colleagues food that was in the fridge. Correction: I didn't actually eat the food myself, but my other colleague did because I told him to. Long story, I had to go to Nate-n-Al's to make up for my mistake since that is where the sandwich in question was from. Since the sandwich consumed was rather specific, I figured the easiest thing to do was just to buy a gift card. I've heard about this place, particularly during the height of 2020 when they were going to possibly shut down, but that was about it. The rest of what I know is that Jewish delis are freaking expensive...but the food is usually really good (Daughter's Deli for example). I knew I couldn't leave without getting something for myself which is my downfall, so I had the turkey club with skinny fries. I was frustrated they forgot the pickle spear that seems to taste so much better with the food, but I was able to get through this without it. The turkey was so good, the bacon crispy, and most of the fries were gone in my car by the time I reached my destination. About a week or more later, the gift card finally reached the victim, where I would love to say I can put this place behind me, but it was way too good to do that. Writing a review as a vegan diner. When you are the only vegan, it's important to not spoil it for others. My party wanted deli fare visiting LA, and Nate n Al's never disappoints. I was able to enjoy, too. There are a few options (Beyond Burger and a vegan chili), but I ordered a veggie sandwich on their amazing rye: avocado, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and onion. With a side of fries. Just perfect. Our server was accommodating. In terms of ambiance, it's so comfortingly familiar. Doesn't look like the dining room has ever been updated. I've been a long time customer of Nate n Al's - it was one of my family's favorite restaurants, until now. Last night we ate there and it was truly awful. The food took a very long time to come out, the prices literally doubled in the last couple months, from already very high to astronomical, and the server, who was very nice, had a large wart on his hand, dangerously close to our food. That is totally disgusting and inappropriate for food service. On top of all that my son got food poisoning from his $30 roast beef sandwich. He is suffering so much from the poisoned food. Nate n Al's is a New York style deli located in the heart of Beverly Hills. Don't worry about street parking there is a parking structure near the restaurant that offers 2 free hours. I would suggest coming early and not on the weekends. They offer indoor and outdoor seating which means they are dog friendly, yay! The inside furniture reminds me of an actual deli in N.Y except they have very little or no items in their real deli section which was super disappointing. Nonetheless, I came for the corned beef sando and Knish. A bit stingy with pickles, first deli I've been to that doesn't offer sour or half sour pickles. I have never had Knish served with gravy, but I have to say I really liked it. The coleslaw was so bland, go ahead and throw some salt and peppa in it to give it life. Yessss, its ok to add coleslaw it to your sando, its delish. Also, ordered a side of fries which came hot and crispy. Good in theory but poor execution. Chicken matzoh soup was fine, as were the latkes. The corned beef family style dinner was almost entirely fat and also cut the wrong direction. I know the address says Beverly Hills, but how can someone continue to pay these mounting costs? - I have been a patron of Nate'n Al's for over 3 decades, if I include our families almost weekly visits back in the 80's, on the occasional Saturday morning. And we had a photo (burned in the Palidsades fires) of the menu that my father had taken on his disposable camera in 1989, I was just 8 years old. The pastrami sandwich went from under 10 dollars and now it's shot to $27.25 today. That 25c just drives me CRAZY - Like I can't see it, taunting me from the menu. Times, they are crazy and prices are even more crazy. God bless my mother and my father, now gone, but I keep to our tradition as best I can when visiting back here in LA - sad to say, things just aren't the same. read more

Nate 'n Al's is an LA staple and I love coming here. Since enough is known about their meats/samdwiches, I wanted to mention that their desserts are great too! The Black and White Cookies are bigger than my hand, and also note that the Rugelachs sometimes sell-out--get those early in the morning! As a non-native to LA, this place gives me fond memories of going to Kosher delis when I was growing up in New Jersey and New York City. Highly recommend coming here! read more

Am I the only one who feels like this place is not the same any more? We have been coming here for years and have always had amazing food and service. This time was different. The customer service wasn't great and the manager who came and spoke to us clearly didn't care. I think if you're a regular here, you'd probably be taken care of but if you're dining here occasionally- I think it's going to be luck of the draw. It turned out to be a pretty unpleasant experience unfortunately and we don't think we will be returning. If you get a good server, your meal and time will be great. If you get an awful one like we did, it made it frustrating. It's in BH near Rodeo and Crate and Barrel. It's an old diner feel. We had an awesome server, David, who's friendly, funny, and so good at his job. An hour in, he left for the night. He said Konnor would take over. The guy in white....we NEVER saw him until it was time to get the bill. We even asked the host for help and another worker. When he came, he was annoyed and didn't apologize for never coming to check up on us. I was so mad. I didn't even want to tip him. I gave him a thumbs down for service. I wrote an email to the company but no response. He was not a good server at all. We asked for bread that was supposed to come with kids' meal. He didn't understand then came back 2x to ask what we needed. Finally he gave it to us. We like the food and David...but it's not worth the 50 min drive for subpar service and no apology or anything from a guy who is not competent at his job. I tried to be fair and understanding...45 mins of being ghosted is not it. Thankful to busboys and other workers like Honor who sorta helped us out. Konnor is thumbs down. David, busboys, Honor, and hosts...they need workers like them. Not sure I would recommend it if Konnor was server. Usually, I am pretty chill about small things but I had a long strand of hair in my pie. The pastrami sandwich was great as well as the potato salad. Then, I ordered pie ala mode with coffee. After the third bite I pulled a long strand of hair out of my mouth. GROSS! I showed the hair to the waiter who did ask "how he could make it better". I guess I naively thought he would just do the right thing and adjust off the pie or coffee. In spite of this, I left a 20% tip because I appreciate the importance of making a living wage. Nonetheless, the restaurant should take responsibility when the protocols aren't met for safe food handling. I would encourage the staff and owners to not put the customer in the position of making a decision when clearly they should know the right thing to do. The best Deli's in Los Angeles by far are Brent's in the valley and Art's also in the valley. Brent's mayb be the best Deli in the country and certainly worth the drive to get there. That Pastrami as they call it to begin with was 100% processed meat and was 80% fat !!!!! The way it not only looked told you the meat was processed but eating it was the convincer. Nate'n Al's deli on N Beverly Drive open since 1945, 75 years serving the Beverly Hills community and the public with traditional deli food. The initial plan was to close this location and reopen in May 2020 on N Canon Drive. With the COVID pandemic and all the uncertainty of matters, the decision to just close this business was made. In fact, I learned the employees were informed of the closure yesterday :( Most if the employees have been long time loyal employees and will add to the the mass of 3.5 million that filed for unemployment in the US. This deli is very basic, not fancy and offered traditional deli food, many Jewish selections m, deli ready made foods, as well as healthy options. My family and I have dined here for decades and live the casual relaxed atmosphere. We often see older celebrities dining here, octogenarian Larry King is a regular. The deli has a good assortment of smoked fish: sable, while fish and lox to name a few, deli meats for sandwiches, and various salads: egg salad, macaroni pickled veggies and sometimes fruit salad. The matzo ball soup, sky high pastrami, grilled salmon and smoked lox platters are among my favs..but today my takeaway are a bag of bagels of all assortments. Parking is free the first 2 hours beneath Crate and Barrel. Asked the server why, and she just said the menu was outdated and she would speak to the manager. No follow up from the manager at all. I had the Hollywood. Corned beef, Cole slaw, Russian dressing on rye. A classic done in so many places. The meat was perfect. A slight marble of fat, warm and spiced perfectly. The service is nice but this ranks as one of the worst sandwiches I have ever eaten. Whitefish sandwich and the filling was a gummy, pasty glob shoved between two slim pieces of rye bread. The taste was generic, no smoky flavor, and no flavor I could hardly even discern. It felt like it was made a good while ago. The potato salad was okay but thats not why you go to a deli.
