If you want the best Kosher Ruben sandwich look no further than Schwartz's. It is in the great area of Pico/Robinson, which is know for great Kosher food and markets. It used to be an almost all Jewish area, but others have moved in, but the great places remain. Schwartz's is one of them. They have great food, but our favorite is their Ruben. It can't be beat. They are made to order and are always fresh. We eat there as much as we can, but this time we did take away. It was wonderful. We love to eat there and I have included photos of our last visits. They even have guacamole. They have the most wonderful sandwiches, their corned beef is so good and any of their meals that have brisket you want. They have great pickles too. The place is ever so comfortable with wonderful old style booths. You are never rushed. Parking is easy, but mind the meters in front. SCHWARTZ DELI & BBQ!!! Exciting stuff! They are now in the soft opening phase but they're already hitting it out of the park. They are going for an old-school deli as well as authentic barbecue. They are still tweaking stuff but as far as I'm concerned they got the brisket on point. I got it in a sandwich and it was fantastic. Juicy with that great smoky flavor, and wow do they pack it on. That's what I'm talking about! Talking about packing it on, check out the pastrami. We're talking old-school, overstuffed, like I haven't seen in I don't know how long. It's a true old-school New York deli experience. This is hand carved with love. Nothing shrink-wrapped here, but brined and prepared in-house. It was fantastic even though it was on the lean side and they say they're working on a fattier naval pastrami which, I'm telling you now, is going to be off da hook! If you want to stay on the healthy side but still want good barbecue, check out their cauliflower steak with pulled beef. Very nice! You've got some great apps inside as well, such as very flavorful fire poppers with both a great herb blend on the coating as well as a great sauce. I always say, if a place makes their own onion rings you've got to get them, and these do not disappoint. You're also going to want to try their pulled beef and pastrami egg rolls. I ordered the chicken noodle soup and split the pastrami sandwich with a friend. The soup could have used more flavor and chicken, although it had enough noodles. Visiting from out of town, I was lucky enough to find Schwartz's Deli & BBQ. I had a delicious, tender half corned beef, half smoked brisket sandwich on rye. The meat is made in- house and well worth it as the sandwich was large (the bread was also excellent). The sandwich came with two sides, and I had the potato salad and coleslaw, both of which were excellent. The free pickle was good also. I also had a cabbage soup that had pieces of meat in it that was very tasty. The service was great and the dining room was clean and what one would expect of a deli. Criminally underrated restaurant on the Pico strip! My family loves going to Schwartz's for that classic deli feel, with authentic and kosher food. Their Southwest Zinger sandwich is a delicious pile of homemade pastrami, schnitzel, and more. My husband orders the spicy poppers every time, and we can't resist the bbq beans. The ambiance has been a little in progress as they've been working on an expansion, but they've just added in some new seating and lighting, so we're excited to go back for more dine in. If you're looking for a taste of classic Jewish deli, start with the matzoball soup (it's huge, we usually share!), go for the hot corned beef on rye, and settle into a brand new booth. As someone who would make a pilgrimage each year to Milts Kosher Barbecue in Chicago each year, I've had a lot of experience eating proper Kosher Barbecue. I was very excited to see this place open up as I drove by, and had to stop in. The place is sparsely decorated, and looks like it hasn't fully opened up yet when you walk through the door. I ordered a half sandwich of Pastrami and another half of BBQ Brisket. The meats were amazing. Very good flavor and moist. The place was surprisingly empty. And I think I know why. The prices were extremely high. You're looking at $30 for one sandwich. Possibly the highest price I've ever paid for a kosher sandwich of any kind. While I think they're on the right track, I worry they won't be around too long since the prices are way out of the realm of many Kosher families. The sandwich should be about $15-$16 at most with sides included. I paid $70 for one sandwich and a pound of brisket to take home. I think they've got something good here but they really have to lower their prices. This place should be packed based on the food quality. Will I go back? I don't think so because there are other options which are much cheaper. I hope they are successful but there's only one way to do that and that's lower their price. read more

I was looking for a good lunch sandwich yesterday and found it at Schwartz's. The inside is pretty bare -- other than the kitchen and sandwich making area for the staff, there are like 3 tables and the cash register. But don't let the barebones set up fool you -- this is a great sandwich spot. My reuben was excellent, one of the better ones I've ever had. They took a huge piece of corned beef out of the machine and cut big slices off right in front of me. For my sides (that come with any sandwich) I got mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The mashed potatoes were pretty good, and the coleslaw was nothing special. It isn't a cheap sandwich, but you get a bunch of food for it so no complaints there. Staff was very friendly and asked questions about exactly what we wanted on our sandwiches to make sure it was too our liking. I will definitely be back. read more
