You ever try a place everyone trashes just to see if it's actually that bad? Yeah...that was me here. I came in fully prepared for a disaster after reading the reviews but the food pics looked solid so I figured, why not. First impression? Total chaos. Not the fun, busy kind, just confusing. I stood in line at what looked like a Chipotle-style setup, only to realize (way too late) that you're supposed to pay first and then wait for your number to get called before you even start picking your food. No signs, no heads-up, nothing. After about 14 minutes of waiting for my number to get called, though, things turned around. Staff was actually really friendly and the food? Really good. Big portions too, I've got leftovers lined up for tomorrow, so no complaints there. One thing that stuck with me though...the whole place gave off that "hope they're paying these workers fairly" energy. Could be wrong, but it definitely crossed my mind. So yeah, messy system, solid food. If they fixed the flow or put up a sign saying to pay first, this place would be way better. read more

Amazingly fresh!!! I got the shawarma plate and asked to make it mixed so I can try both meats. There is So Much flavor in the chicken and beef shawarma. It also comes with 5 sides and a pita bread. A lot of side variety to choose from! Got rice ,sour cabbage (a bit salty), hummus (and you can add addtl toppings like garlic on it), cucumber salad, and pico de gallo for more tomatoes. Also ordered a side of laffa (very nice n chewy, thinner than the pita). Between my friend and I, we could not finish the whole thing and had to get a to go box. Ok. So here's the deal. It's kosher... so you know it will be more expensive than another place. So going in there keep that in mind. The staff is ok, they're busy and need to keep it moving so they don't really have time to be chatty or even smile it seems. It's pretty confusing about getting your sandwich since it's busy and you cannot really hear when they call your name. Plus the herd of people standing around to try to hear there name is suffocating. My son loves this place. He thinks it's delicious. I thought the taste was ok, but not worth the work of actually getting it, plus the food gets messy and that is not my favorite. We are not kosher, so it is not worth the hassle for me... but I do understand the hype if you are kosher. read more

Came here for a business lunch with a client. First time and hopefully not the last, it was excellent. This is a Glatt Kosher certified restaurant if you are interested. The restaurant itself is fairly small inside, but there is outdoor seating as well, which doubles the size. Parking can be tough though, the lot only has a few spots right off of Beverly blvd. We got the all you can eat salads and some protein. It is great to be able to try all the various salads, but maybe we did it wrong. It is $18 per person for the salads alone and we did not get any refills. We also got a couple beef Kabobs and a chicken thigh kabob and Chicken Shawarma. Everything was so very good, the Shawarma had tons of flavor, not overly cooked, tender and crisp at the same time. The beef kabobs were some of the best I have had. Did not try the chicken thigh, but also looked amazing. All the salads and sides were fresh, clean and feel very healthy, with the exception of the fries, which were great, but of course not the healthiest option. Their pitas must be homemade they are thick, much thicker than typical, also excellent. All in all, I really enjoyed the food and would try it again. The reason for the 4 is the parking is tough or you have to find a street spot if you can with a meter and I think it is quite expensive. Bottom -line: I believe the Beverly Hills location to be the superior of the two. If you get a chance, try that first. Look, if I'm gonna shell out 23 dollars for a shawarma pita sandwich a la Carte, anything short of a S-tier level of eats is gonna be disappointing . I don't know if this was not status quo, but the Beverly Hills location at least gave me a small side of fries. Also, the Make-line server cut me off and I wasn't able to customize my pita to the fullest extent. He also failed to put in side peppers and pickles like he said he would. Manager said 'he's new,' so I guess he gets a pass, but how can you forget something you said 30 seconds ago? Pita was a bit over-toasted -- see pic. Since I wasn't able to soup it up with peppers and other toppings with heat , my shawarma pita tasted a little bitter and sweet. Shawarma was less than tender. Price unjustifiable. I'm giving this a place though a 3/5 as the manager did refund me. Maybe willing to try this again one day, but the Beverly Hills location makes this the difference between night and day. read more

This is a really good place for pita sandwiches. I always get the one with chicken breast, and I'm very particular about chicken, but theirs is really good and tasty. I also really like their falafel, which is also tasty and has a nice crispy outside. Then there's the pita itself, which is nice and soft, while their hummus is flavorful. You can also pick what else you want in your sandwich, though I'll warn you, they pack a lot of meat into them, so you want to grab a fork and eat a couple pieces before you pick it up. Especially if, like me, you get the chicken sandwich and a couple falafel and get them to put the falafel into the chicken sandwich. Though they sometimes forget and I have to do it myself. This is not the only issue I have with this place (though using the word "issue" is overstating things). The parking lot is terrible. Unless you drive a smart car, or a motorcycle, it's really hard to get in and out, especially when it's crowded. But you can usually find street parking. I also wish they did coffee drinks, especially iced coffee or iced latte. Otherwise, the place is always nice and clean, and it's easy to find a seat, especially if you come on a nice day, as they have a large outdoor seating area. They also have a friendly staff, especially the people who assemble the sandwiches. One last note: the place is Jewish, so they're not open for dinner on Fridays or at all on Saturdays. read more

Let's start with how rude, unprofessional and dishonest the woman who "answers" the phone is to customers -- customers who the owner expects to pay $29 for a plate of chicken and a couple of small sides. I have never dealt with someone so obnoxious and who couldn't give 2 craps about the customers. Tonight we placed an order through their website for delivery, and after an hour and 15 min (we live 5 min away), we finally tried to call to find out where our order was. My wife called 4 times and the woman just kept putting her on hold and never came back. So after the 4th try, I called to see if I'd have better luck. I didn't. 17 calls later the woman finally answered as I was on my way to the restaurant to track down our order. When I asked where the order was after 1 hr and 30 min, she took her rudeness to another level. First she lied and told me the driver was on the way. When I asked when it left, she told me that if I shut up and stopped asking questions, she could check the system -- or I could just cancel. She told me I'm not the only customer, that she was "very busy," and if I wanted, she could just put me on hold again. While waiting, I had enough time to drive over, park, and walk inside... where there was one person waiting and five people at a table. She was just chatting with a coworker while I was still on hold. When she finally came back on the line, I was standing right in front of her. She said it was my fault because I "placed the order for another day." Even though I had my confirmation email showing "ASAP," she doubled down and said I was lying. When she looked at the slip and realized she had the wrong order, did she apologize? Absolutely not. When I asked for the owner or manager, she laughed and said neither was there. Funny how the owner magically appeared when I asked the Rabbi to get him. She then showed him the wrong slip and lied again, saying she told me she'd get the order started. She hadn't. And guess what? They never even made our order. Only after proving we had a confirmation email did they finally start it. By the time I got home -- 2 hours after ordering -- the order was wrong. My son's chicken kabobs were missing and replaced with a piece of overcooked chicken. Then things got even worse. About an hour after eating, all three of us were sick to our stomachs. My son kept saying he felt like he was going to throw up. So we got to spend $100 to be insulted, lied to, get the wrong food, and then get sick. I witnessed two other upset customers while dealing with this disaster, and for a place she claimed was "extremely busy," there were only seven customers in the store. Heed my warning -- stay away from Dr. Sandwich. I am shocked at how bad the entire experience was and how sick we all feel. If I could give 0 stars, that would still be too generous read more

I have been a loyal patron of Dr Sandwich for several years, generally satisfied with the quality and service. However, my most recent visit last Thursday fundamentally shattered that trust and resulted in a genuinely distressing experience for my party and me. Five of us met for dinner November 27th on Olympic blv location and all ordered chicken dishes. The meal itself tasted fine at the time, but the aftermath was severe. The very next day, every single person in our group fell violently ill, suffering from severe diarrhea that incapacitated us for a full two days. Two days of our lives were lost to illness, a miserable and physically draining ordeal that was entirely preventable. When I contacted the manager, Mario, to report this serious health concern, I was met with complete dismissal and gaslighting rather than the serious inquiry and apology I expected. This lack of accountability was incredibly disheartening. To make matters worse, subsequent conversations with others in the community revealed that this is not an isolated incident. Other patrons have reportedly fallen ill, only to receive the same dismissive response from management. This pattern of denial in the face of multiple potential health hazards is unacceptable. Given the management's refusal to acknowledge or address a serious issue that impacted five customers so severely, I can no longer, in good conscience, support this establishment. The quality of a restaurant must extend beyond the initial taste of the food to include rigorous safety standards and a management team that takes customer well-being seriously. Until that changes, my friends and I will be taking our business elsewhere. read more
